I know these pictures aren't all from the same year,  I just got them from google. They're really only for a main idea of how she looks anyways. What's different is that Mizuki has hazel eyes (they sort of change color with how she feels) with a natural deep blue ring around the edge of her irises. She isn't petite.

Mizuki's clothing style is simple. She usually wears jeans, sneakers, a t-shirt, and maybe a jacket. She prefers guys' clothing over most girls' clothing. She always wears ponytail holders on her wrist in case she needs to pull her hair back.

Ulzzang Name: Airi Suzuki (she's not an ulzzang, but a J-pop singer)

• complete silence (something as simple as the sound of breathing can make it not as bad)

Habits:

• When she's waiting for something and has nothing to do she'll have a blank expression and look around the room, subtly looking around the room. If people see her doing this they usually think that she's daydreaming and try to snap her out of it (before, she would repsond politely or ignore you jokingly before answering, but during her depression she'd probably ignore you altogether)
• gently chewing on her finger when she's bored or thinking
• biting her lip (either bottom lip or top) when she's annoyed
• making random observations (basically, just watching stuff)
• sitting on her foot, crossing her legs, or slouching; she hardly ever sits up straight (if her foot falls asleep she'll simply switch feet or change positions)
• talking to herself (before depression)/ having one sided conversations in her mind (during depression)

Trivia - Hidden talents/Secrets etc:

• She does NOT cuss.
• She can't sleep well without a blanket pulled up to her neck. When it's hot, she'll use a small/thin blanket and stick one of her legs out. (She also sleeps on her side, with opened)
• She doesn't like crowded places, but she's fine with small areas as long as no one else is too close to her.
• She took piano lessons all throughout elementary school, but she quit (because she didn't think she was any good after she got depressed)
• She can't really dance unless she's been taught choreography
• She taught herself how to read Hangul (with a small amount of help from her cousin)
• She tenses up when people try to touch the back of her neck and the part of her shoulders near her neck (she also doesn't like hugs or skinship. This worsened during depression)
• Languages are very interesting to her. She wants to be a translator after learning Japanese/Korean better. (she gave up during depression)

Personality Before Depression: She was a very good student. She made straight A's and always finished her work on time. Despite being a nerd (and proud of it) she was fairly social, but she didn't really have any close friends.

She joked around with her brother and cousin all the time, even though any kind of playful argument they had almost always ended with her getting "beaten up".

Her relationship with her parents wasn't bad. They had nice conversations everyday and there were few arguments of any kind.

When she got bored she would read a book, listen to music, watch TV, play video games, or practice singing or playing piano.

Personality During Depression: She's still a good student and she keeps up her grades (mostly in fear that her parents will kill her if her grades drop), but she has no motivation toward it; she does it because she has to. She doesn't talk to anyone at school unless they say something to her first, and her replies are short. After a while people stopped talking to her altogether.

She still talks to her family, but not as joyfully or as often. She tries her best to hide her depression from her family, but her cousin knows that something's wrong and tries to help her, but sometimes it just makes it worse.

She still listens to music, but she stopped singing and gave up on the piano. She sleeps a lot more often and she has no motivation to do anything. Sometimes she doodles/ scribbles randomly on the egdes or backs her graded papers.

About 80% of the time that she's at home she locks herself in her room. (In a way, 2NE1's Ugly is kind of like her theme song; mostly normal, but deep down, sadness.)

How did you get depression: 1st person POV memory: Summertime, 2008

Uncle Youji and Aunt Soomin are visiting during Summer Vaction and they suggested that we go on a trip to Korea-town in California to see what it's like. Mom and Dad have to work, but they said it'd be fine if us kids went. I'm so excited! Even though I have no clue what we're going to do there, Katsumi and I will finally get a chance to practice our Korean! Oh wait, there's bound to be a lot of people there... I'll just stick close to my family and deal with it! We're staying for a week and I'll get to go on a plane for the first time!

*about a week later*

We had to stop and get off of the plane at some random airport in LA. I don't know why and I am way too excited to ask. We all found a place to sit and I got out my iPod and book to keep me occupied. Katsumi must've gotten really bored because she started talking to a random girl sitting next to her. I ignored her and went back to reading.

"This is Matzuki, my little cousin." I looked up when I heard my name. I waved at the stranger and smiled. I was going to go back to my book, but she started talking to me.

"Hi, I'm Amber. You have a very nice voice for a 9 year old." So her name is Amber. Wait, I have a nice voice?

"Thank you, but how did you know what my voice sounds like?" I ask, confused.

"You were singing earlier," she replied, laughing a little. I must have started singing subconsciously...

"Oh, I didn't even notice..." I said, a bit embaressed.

"So how long are you guys staying in LA?" Amber asked.

"About a week," Katsumi answered. "We're going to Korea-town!"

"Me, too! I'm gonna audition for SM Entertainment, that famous Korean company. Mizuki, you should audition, too. You have a great voice and even though you're young, I'm sure you'd still have a good chance!"

"Really?! I don't know... I've never done anything like that before, and I don't even have a song prepared," It seemed fun, but scary at the same time.

"I can help you if you want." Amber said, sincerly.

"You would do that even though we just met? Ummm, sure!"

"Okay, here's my number. You can call me when you get settled, but we can talk some now too."

*end of memory*

Amber and Mizuki met up every day and worked on their songs together. They did their best at the audition. When Amber made it into SM and Mizuki didn't, they lost contact. Mizuki tried to call Amber, but she never answered. Mizuki became a bit jealous, but the main reason that she became depressed was because she lost her first close friend. She started coming up with excuses of why Amber wouldn't contact her. The main excuse that stayed in her mind was  that she wasn't good enough.

 

Degree of depression: minor (She has no thoughts self-harm, but she has a lack of motivation to do anything)

She won't admit to herself that she's depressed (at least not until counseling)

 

 

Personal Flaws :

• She can be a perfectionist and tends to over think things. This can slow her down in just about any situation.
• She is often pessimistic. She's quick to point out negative points and she thinks of the worst possible outcomes.
• She is very stubborn, and doesn't like to give up. (this could also be a strength depending on the situation)

Personal Strengths:

• She is a fast learner. If she has the motivation and a good example she could learn something twice as fast as most people.
• She is responsible and much more mature than most kids her age.
• She has a "good ear" and can pick out harmonies fairly easily.

Background: Mizuki had a normal early childhood. She went to school, laughed, played, all those things that little kids do. She was close to her aunt, uncle, and cousin ever since she was born. She was very excited about the trip to Korea-town, but after returning home she continually blamed herself for loosing all contact with Amber. She lived those next few years in fear of making a big mistake again so she tried her best to keep from doing anything that could be messed up.

Family Members:

Father- Ichirou Sakuragi 43 years old, full Japanese

 

Mother- Manami Sakuragi 41 years old, 1/2 Japanese

Youji's sister.

 

Brother- Kiyoshi "Yoshi" Sakuragi 21 years old, 3/4 Japanese

He works at the local Tim Horton's/ Cold Stone Creamery (Mizuki and Katsumi often visit him at work after school so they can get a discount). He isn't a typical Asian nerd. He's a loving brother/ cousin but he likes to joke around in ways that probably seem mean to random people (he backed off after noticing how Mizuki had changed). 

 

Cousin- Katsumi "Kat" Takaya 16 years old, 1/2 American 1/4 Japanese 1/4 Korean

Her father, Youji Takaya, is Manami's brother. Her mother, Soomin Takaya, is 1/2 Korean. They used to live next door to the Sakuragi's but her parents got a really good job offer in Korea. Katsumi was happy for them but she didn't want to move so far away. They two families are very close, so it was decided that Katsumi would live with the Sukaragi's and her parents would move, visiting as often as possible. Katsumi is very outgoing and very supportive of Mizuki.

How he will treat you?: After getting to know Mizuki a bit he realizes that subtlty doesn't work well. No matter how reluctant Mizuki is to talking he continues to try small things to have her react (positively or not). Sometimes he makes her a little angry to get her to vent some of her feelings. After they bond he treats her like a sister. He takes the moments when she's in a good mood to have real conversations. He becomes a little protective after there's been enough time for her to stop being awkward.

First impression of him: Mizuki previously knew about his weird/ evil/ crazy reputation but she didn't expect him to really be the same as he seems. He acted very calm, kind, and caring (probably just because she was "depressed"). She didn't understand why he would care about some random little kid's feelings. She was certain that his efforts would be pointless just like Katsumi's were. She was so annoyed with the idea of having a councellor that she didn't even care if he was a famous singer.

Have you been selected in apply fics before, how many times: This is the first story that I've ever applied for...

Others: She will NOT have a couple relationship with her "partner". Their relationship will be only a close friend/brotherly/fatherly type relationship.

Kiyoshi, Katsumi, and Mizuki gave each other their nicknames so that they'd have an alternative name for anyone that can't pronounce thier real names. When they're at home they usually call each other by their real names.

I don't think you should reveal to the counselor that Amber is the reason for her depression until close to the end because they're in the same company and Mizuki wouldn't feel comfortable telling them in case they knew each other (I hope that makes sense...)

I'm open for change so if you like it but think some things aren't too good I'll be glad to talk to you about it.
