Writing Skills

Nowadays, I've been back to reading novels, books and ebooks. One question has been constantly in my head though and thus, the reason for this blog post.

How do you improve your writing skills even more?

I think I've covered the basics: reading books, practicing my writing, checking and editing my written work.

But, all those done, I still find myself lacking alot. I want to improve more -I really love writing-, but I have no idea where to start. My writing style keeps changing and that alone is confusing me alot. What I orginally thought is a good writing style, prove to be a bad one when I read back. But, my writing style seems to be inconsitent and I cannot seem to type the same kind of writing style for a few more times.

I've seen writers who are consistent with their writing techniques and styles. I want one which I'm comfortable and best at. But, I can't seem to find one.

Writing style apart, my main question is improvement.

I feel that my writing skills are really getting more and more horrible and there are people who agrees with me. The 'OCs' I created are Mary-Sue like, and they seemed to change personalities according to my mood. Suggestions to improve on this part?

There are many things I want to express but I seem to be lacking the correct words for those.

All in all, I'm just so damn disatisfied with my writing skills and my lack of ability. Argh.

Help please?

Ahhhhhhhh, that is a good question! I'm constantly trying to improve my writing skills, too. I think the best way to go is to keep doing what you're doing. I started writing when I was 11, but only when I was 16 or maybe 17 did I feel that I had improved. I think it takes time and practice. So just keep working at it! :D
But you know what I find helpful? Always look up words you don't know/understand or think might have more than one meaning. That will help you to remember those words more and then you can integrate them into your own writing and add an element of maturity into your works.(:
Also, my teacher had us read a writing tips book in class and I found it to be SO INCREDIBLY HELPFUL! It was written for journalists and it basically gives easy tricks on how to improve your writing. If you want, I can share some of what I learned from that book with you! =D
But my plan for improvement is just to write when I wanna write and to write what I want to write and how I want to write it. I think that's the best way to go about improving for sure. :]

You know, we're quite in the same boat.
Nowdays I keep changing my writting style..and I don't know..I feel something weird in bwtween. I mean..When I'm writting for the x fanfic I feel like that and for the y like that. And I can't change my writting for every single fanfic that I'm doing.

I think as a help, write one-shots and compare the writting style. And find the one that fits you the best. Or at least, that what I'm doing...hehe.
