If you knew, would things turn out differently? Would happy ending be happily ever after?

You and I, that’s what you’ve promised me. That was what I’ve held onto all these years; the words that shall forever bound me to you. The words that forever will be the ignition of my heartbreak.

‘You and I, we are The Fated Ones,’ I giggled off when you said that. But then you pulled my face facing you, you were all serious and yes…serious. You were not your playful self when you say it again. ‘We are meant to be together, you and I, you were born so that you’ll be my partner, my soul mate. You were destined to be with me,’  You never once blinked your eyes, making me shut for a while; absorbing all your words in, thinking through word by word. You were serious as then I realized.

‘I was June and you were my Johnny Cash,’ that’s what you said. We were never one without the other, we made a pact; of a lifetime together. Yeah, that ‘together’ that I had hoped for.

Call me a fool and I will never try to deny them for I am a fool. A foolish girl who easily believed those lies that was said to me. Those mere meaningless words that were meant to only satisfy my naivety.
