Margot was once a happy go lucky and optimistic girl duirng her early trainee days. She somehow always saw the positive and followed her heart, doing everything with passionately. She was outspoken, unafraid to say her ideas and looked forward to tomorrow. But she can't say the same now.

After Afterschool's hiatus Margot felt lost, the dream she worked so hard for for years was over in a year and it really messed her up. She's no longer the same girl she used to be after being chewed and spit out by the industry. She keeps to herself now, only mingling with the people she used to know. Dreading meeting new people who aren't sure how to greet her now that she went from sunbae to hoobae. She doesn't have much to say if it doesn't pertain to music because if you have nothing ncie to say then don't say it at all.

No matter how much hardwork and certainty is put behind a project Margot never feels secure. She's constantly waiting for the worse, for the bad comment, for the comeback to be canceled. At this point she's just going with the flow until there isn't a flow to go with anymore.

Her mind never lets her enjoy a moment. She can go from happy and laughing but you slowly see the smile disappear and she looks far in her head. Like her brain told her that was enough, reminded her that all happiness ends in sadness.

For that reason Margot puts a lot of effort into what she does best, maybe if she makes good music the group will last longer. But in that same logic, that's exactly why she doesn't put extra effort into dancing because its temporary anyways.

Margot's caring side still shows even though she's on the more reserved side now. She wouldn't say she loves you but she'd make sure the dorm always has your favorite drink, organize the girls messes, get waters when they're tired and look out for them from the sidelines. Since shes quiet and has rbf many people think she's intimidating or mean so these actions often go overlooked. But she isn't doing it to get recongition. She knew how it felt to be a young trainee, and the most she could do is make their time in Sixteen comfortable while it lasts.

If you have enough courage to come to Margot in your time of need, you'll learn that she has a lot of empathy. Offering a shoulder to cry on and advice for any of her members. There's still a lot of softness under her cold looking exterior and hard shell that she developed.

She personally doesn't think she's leader material and dreads being the person to talk in interviews. But her ability to stay calm in any situation does make her good candidate. Though she at getting the girls together and to listen. She'll cut practice short to get ice cream and lets them run around doing whatever just enjoying their youth. The rap unit is really a hot mess under her watch but they always end up with good results.

BACKGROUND

Living in the upper east side of Manhattan and getting dropped to and from school in a black car made it seem like she had the perfect life. But Margot's family situation back home was toxic. Her parents doubled their wealth by getting married and their marriage was more like a contract than a situation brought on by love. Her dad had a wondering eye and didn’t hide the fact that he was cheating very well but his mom turned a blind eye to his obvious flirting with nannies in their early 20s at the park. In public they seemed fine but at home they often yelled at each other and stayed on opposite sides of their big apartment. Even having different bedrooms.

Her parents were often too busy for her so Margot stayed out the way as much as she could. She was a good daughter that never stepped out of line. Her grades were good and she had a good amount of friends but a part of her was deeply unhappy. In 2009 she went to Korea with her parents and got scouted by Pledis while walking in Gangnam. She didn’t know what KPop was but once she looked it up she knew immediately that she wanted to do it. It seemed fun and seemed way better than sleep away camp.

TRAINEE YEARS 2 years as a part time trainee from 2009 to 2011, 3 years as a full time trainee from 2011 to 2014, 5 years before 16tv and 7 years in total.
　♮ Margot was a part time trainee since 2009, meaning she still studied in New York but went to Korea during the summers to train. She started off as a singer and often sang with her guitar during monthly evaluations. She was well liked whenever she came around and wasn’t afraid to experiment with different genres and classes including different dance styles, songwriting and acting. When she wasn’t in Korea she started taking dance classes, joined the school choir and theater club just to get more practice.

Margot loved training, it was the highlight of her year that she looked forward to everytime. She took a songwriting class and started using it as a way of self expression. While she was in New York she’d write over 30 songs and show them to the producer when she got back. She especially loved co-writing with other writers and producers and bouncing ideas off each other.

She still had the intentions of becoming a singer until during a songwriting session one of the producers came with an unfinished song not sure what to do with the ending. Margot wrote a fun little rap to it and it ended up being the final verse (Aron’s part) in Nuest’s debut song Face. Since then Pledis insisted that she start rapping and that’s how she started.

By late 2011 Pledis insisted that Margot move to Korea and stay at their dorms, she was already getting known in Korea and Pledis saw all the potential she had. Her parents were initially worried about school but insisted that she’d graduate and promised debut. With that Margot moved to Korea and her parents had her enrolled in Dwight School’s Seoul campus instead of SOPA like everyone else.

In February of 2012 Tori was brought to After School’s practice room and introduced as a new member along with Kaeun. She was only 16 at the time but the girls welcomed her like a little sister. She often practiced with them and was a backup dancer despite her young age. She even featured in their content, helped make their songs and her voice was even heard in some of their songs, as if the company was teasing her appearance. Though morally the company knew they’d get a hard time for debuting a minor in a y group so she didn’t make her debut until 2014.

She debuted in the mv Shh and was joined all the girls activities. They welcomed her with open arms, since the fandom saw her both in acting and with the girls before they mostly accepted her too. Almost all of their activities were in Japan so she never had the chance to make her music show debut. Pledis had no intentions of giving Afterschool another comeback but instead kept telling Margot to write songs, giving her empty promises. Margot made a bunch of songs for the girls comeback, pitched them to Pledis staff who praised her and promised to use it but that never happened. By mid 2015 it was clear that Afterschool was over and Pledis was focusing on Seventeen instead. 

As the girls left and did their own things, Margot was left in their dorm with Kaeun wondering what happened. She felt as if Pledis her dry, instead of giving her the career she deserved they only debuted her for a year to keep using her for profit. She was 99% sure of leaving but when Ha Sungsoo called her into his office and practically pleaded for her to be the leader of their new girl group Sixteen, how could she say no after 3-hours of convincing.

INTERACTIONS Finding out Seungcheol was her mentor was tough. Their first interaction on the show was awkward as hell, being that it was also their first time talking in two months. Seungcheol was abnormally cold and Margo was avoiding eye contact. Even without knowing their past it was painful for viewers to watch. But when put together in the studio, they made magic and worked well together. Though Seungcheol wouldn't hold back on his extra harsh critcism and strictness, not letting anything slide. Their interactions were filled with passive aggression and tension that the producers loved and didn't question because, well, drama. It was like Jeongyeon and Jimin all over again.

PERSONALITY As the leader of svt Seungcheol had to grow up fast. He's protective and organized and makes sure everyone gets treated well. He doesn't play when it comes to people he cares about. He overworks himself and gets stressed easily, he holds in a lot since he doesn't like complaining to s because he has to be the one to have it all together. He's stubborn for this reason and has a hard time saying his own faults due to pride. So he takes his frustrations out through songwriting or physically. He could have a lot of pent up frustration that leads to passive aggression at times but s tend to keep him in check with that and he quickly apologizes. 

Since he's the all in or nothing kind of person its hard for him to forgive when done wrong because there are certain things he'd just never do and expects the same from you. When he cares he's a great boyfriend, a huge teddy bear that can put work first but tries his best to make time for you. Though once you cross him, you're practically dead.

HISTORY Seungcheol noticed Margo from the moment she walked in Pledis. Their conversations were limited due to Margo’s terrible Korean but that didn’t bother him, he just wanted to be around the pretty new trainee. Her coming for summers was the highlight of his year, he studied English hard to talk to her better and she studied Korean hard, not for him though. She had no interest in Seungcheol until she heard his rap in the songwriting workshop. He raised his hand just to show off to her and it worked because she agreed to work with him for their next assignment. Spending so much time together helped them become friends, Seungcheol was a seasoned trainee that knew everyone so he was the best guide.

They worked together on all their songwriting projects the summer of 2010, they came up with great songs despite being beginners, working together came easily and by the time summer came to an end, Seungcheol asked her out by putting it in a song verse and singing it for her. Of course she said yes and gave him a peck on the lips before leaving for New York, both of their first kiss. They were 15 and 14.

Margo was like Seungcheol’s rock during training, he didn’t want to tell his family all his struggles so instead he told her. There was a lot of pressure on him, the training was so difficult that many trainees left on their own but Margo kept encouraging him. Saying they’d both debut together someday and it’ll be the best feeling in the world. No matter what Seungcheol went through, the aches and pains of crying on phone calls, Margo was there to cheer him up. It was hard to collaborate on music but they still shared lyrics and ideas. So even though she wasn’t training she was still learning through him and improving.

Every summer they saw each other again they tried not to kiss each other in the hallway. Only their friends knew of their relationship, not the staff nor their parents. They used Sunday morning breaks to go on mini dates, alone time in the studio to sneak kisses, and every night he walked Margo to the dorms.

As they got older the pressure only increased as did the competition and time limit. When Margo officially moved to Korea Seungcheol was ecstatic, at first they spent a lot of time together but once Seventeen tv started it was hard on them. As the leader Seungcheol had a lot of responsibility and Margo was there for him everytime to give him a head massage while his head was rested on her lap as he ranted about his day until he dozed off for a few minutes.

Seungcheol was there for her too, he saved up and sent her a food truck when she filmed her first mv (with the help of Bumzu) and would videochat almost everyday when she was in Japan for their tour. Telling her how great she was doing any second he could. They both debuted and it was stressful but they were happy, so their sudden downfall was unexpected but it came fast and hard.

As long as Margo was optimistic and happy, their relationship was fine. She could be the rock that Seungcheol and their relationship needed. However after Afterschool went on hiatus and Margo was stressed about what her career would become and wasn’t mentally strong enough to be that rock anymore. Seungcheol had the pressure of Seventeen to worry about and couldn’t be there for her like she needed. Everytime she tried to tell him he always had to go or had something else to say. They schedules got the best of them and they barely saw each other so Margo found the comfort that she needed in someone else.

She got close with Jonghyeon ever since she featured in Nu’ests MV. The two texted occasionally but just as friends. Coincidentally enough she got dragged to a party by Kaeun and he was there. They were practically together all night, both drinking more than they should and with all the stress she was feeling, Margo spilled all her thoughts to him. He listened, offered advice, they laughed, she cried, it was a mess but it was everything she was needing from Seungcheol at that moment. Before the end of the night they shared a kiss, before it could get too intimate she pulled away saying it was wrong and he apologized. He offered to take her home in a taxi but the only thing she wanted at that moment was Seungcheol’s cuddles and to tell him all that was on her mind. She called and texted and they all went unanswered so instead of going to Afterschools empty dorm so went to Seventeen’s dorm. Heels in hand and hoodie on with cheeks flushed red from the alcohol she rang the doorbell and was greeted by a nervous looking Hoshi who looked like he just saw a ghost.

Little did Margo know that her kiss was caught in the back of an actors group photo posted on his private finsta that was also followed by a Seventeen member. That was the reason Seungcheol was ignoring her, he was in his room, a little too close to punching a wall out of anger as he got a pep talk from Jihoon and Jeonghan. So when Hoshi called him over and the first thing she did was hug him and say she missed him, she didn’t expect such a passive aggressive response asking if that was before or after she kissed Jonghyeon.

No matter how much Margo explained Seungcheol remained cold, trying to defend herself was useless and in the end he just told her to get out. He didn’t want to see her again. Thankfully for almost two months Margo didn’t have any schedule, she was staying in her dorm day drinking and sleeping letter her depression fully overtake her. While others were still liking her old posts, commenting on her beauty, she questioned the point of living any longer. When she was finally ready to terminate her contract and move back to America, Sungsoo gave her that offer.

So far they’ve been avoiding each other like the plague but that doesn’t mean their feelings don’t remain. Both of them were just kids when they fell in love, they’re older now and more capable of dealing with stress and less likely to make rash decisions. But who knows if they can move past that. Perhaps to him Margo will always be his first love that cheated on him.
