Trainee and/or idol life : 
Aeri trained at Big Hit from 2010 to 2015, Source Music from 2015-2016 and Louders Entertainment from 2017 to 2018. She was a member of GBB but the group disbanded after releasing Kemi.

To Aeri, nothing stood out about her trainee life other than the Glam disaster and that she was a backup dancer. She understood that long days, diets, isolation and having to look good were basic if she wanted to be a idol. She was seen wearing a knee guard in the Animal dance practise video and it was true, she often danced until she was in pain, even sustaining bruises. When she was added to Glam, she thought her hard work had finally paid off, but alas, she was removed from the group just because the management ended up thinking she wouldn't be a good fit. She honestly didn't mind though, as she could still dance and was able to be close to the friends she made, albeit them ironically being of the opposite . Honestly, she wouldn't mind training longer at Big Hit if she would get her big break, but the Dahee blackmail incident just had to happen leading to Aeri being transferred to Source Music.

Aeri spent most of her time in Source Music training alone as there were few trainees despite Gfriend's popularity, and they rarely performed with backup dancers. Aspiring idols just saw better chances if they auditioned for a well known company. Because Aeri was all alone in Source Music with limited access to her phone, it was a lonely period for her and she often cried herself to sleep. When she was able to use her phone, she poured out everything she wanted to say to Hoseok, and honestly, if not for him, she wouldn't still be around today. It was a relief to her when she was finally allowed to leave the company. However, she endured many rounds of auditions only to be rejected or ghosted before Louders Entertainment took her in ready to debut her.

She was happy to debut in GBB even though her time as an idol was short lived, and the MV was honestly rather cringe. However, after they disbanded, she decided she had enough of uncertainty and no longer wanted to go back to the life she endured when she was in Source Music. It's why she decided to take a break and get a degree as a backup plan. Being in Singapore helped her heal from her traumatic days being a idol, and inspired her to be an advocate for idols' well being.

Life on Genesis88 : 
Aeri often helps the younger trainees, but for the few foreign trainees, she unfortunately struggles with language barrier and they have to communicate with each other in broken English. She also conforts the younger trainees when they end up crying when the mentors or even other contestants are a bit too brutal in her opinion.

Being on the older side, Aeri does suffer from ageist comments by netizens and even mentors. One of them even told her "since you are not successful as an idol, why do you not try to achieve something else instead of being a backup dancer your whole life?" The mess of the Up & Down performance made everything worse. Hyerin and Solji's powerful vocals bring so much to the song that no one in the team was able to emulate. Many netizens criticised Aeri saying she was only chosen to perform the song because she's hot and knows how to make use of her assets, even throwing their favourite term for women who are confident in their femininity - "pick me". And of course, she was shamed to no end because everyone hates grown women being confident in their appeal. Throughout the show, there were also many nasty comments made by netizens about her relationship with Hoseok. One example was that she's just using Genesis 88 for clout and once it's over she's gonna use her "boyfriend" to get into Hybe through their back door, with another user replying, "Did Hoseok also enter through her back door?"
