40 questions for writers tag

I have seen this tag for a while but it’s just now that I feel like sharing. If you’re a struggling fanfic writer like me, I hope the struggle ends XD

I’m not sure people want to read this lol…

1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.

High school setting is the safest place for me. I like the idea of EXO men as boys who love doing homework lol although lately I’m trying something new. It’s been challenging!

2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Action. It is another level of challenges to me. One day I’d like to base my story on EXO’s Lotto MV for the dark/ action/ mafia theme. I mean… I would if I could?

3.Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

Idk… I like trying something new.

4.How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

Way too many lol but I have published the foreword. It’s Officer Chanyeol cross dressing to investigate some illegal activities XD

5.Share one of your strengths.

Probably angst?

6.Share one of your weaknesses.

Describing! Sadly but true. It is always a struggle to describe setting and characters.

7.Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

My arrival to the camp brings a smile to Lay’s face that stops my hazy mind. This is the first time since he’s gone. My head says that I would’ve been with him now, hugging Lay before arranging the flowers that he loved so, so much.

Despite the struggle, I smile when the hug ends. “He would’ve loved seeing you here,” Lay says full of assurance.

I nod. “I will not forget him.”

It’s a promise I say to Lay as much as I say to myself as I’ve packed the memories of him in my heavy mental suitcases so I can carry anyplace I want.

It’s true that my heart broke in pieces, but I still have my heartbeats to take leaps forward as I’m moving through, living with meaning and purpose, doing kindness in honour of him who had gone. (Until Then)

Though I’m trying to be modest lol I’m proud of it because how the last part of it loads a struggle to cope which relates to many of us… I suppose?

8.Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

"I want the chance to really get to know you. That's why I tell you that I need time." I felt my cheeks warm, thinking that I was getting the opportunity to see him move from his past. Next, his smile faded. His shoulders fell and rose for what he was trying to say. "We would spend more time together in the future." His smile was back before he linked our little fingers. He mouthed,"I promise."

And then, he gave me that soft gaze again as he got my scarf from my lap and put it around my neck. I wanted to smile but I was so emotional that I felt like crying.

"Chanyeol..."

"I'll call you tonight."

I pulled myself together just enough to give him a smile and a response that I was sure he wanted to hear, "I'm waiting." (Are we friends yet?)

I’m aware of how basic the language is, but I love it for the reactions I received the moment this chapter was published. T.T

9.Which fic has been the hardest to write?

“Run with You”, because of the angst. I ended up labeling this fic with TW.

10.Which fic has been the easiest to write?

Obviously, “Secretly Obvious!” I wrote it because I simply wanted to read a light office au. It was so easy that I didn’t put so much thought on the wording lol

11.Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?

Hobby?

12.Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

13.What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Idk… Never seek of writing advice lol

14.What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Same as no 13

15.If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

None. It would be so boring lol sometimes some works are interesting because they are written. So no. I’m more interested to see my fics being printed though.

16.If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?

As if I could choose because I’ve already been stuck with this Chanyeol May Universe lmao because I’m too lazy to create new characters.

17.Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

Most of the times writing the scenes out of order.

18.Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?

I use traditional microsoft word aasdgdghjkl

20.Describe your perfect writing conditions.

I’m adaptable with any conditions XD

21.How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

Two? Rereading is so tiring especially after you spend hours writing :’ (

22.Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style. (Person sending the ask is free to make suggestions).

Jongin was there when she knitted a pair of mittens for Baekhyun's pretty hands. Jongin witnessed when she started a friendship with Jinri and Soojung. Jongin was also with her when she failed to get a concert ticket (the boy came with his DVD and they watched the concert in her room with their light sticks up in the air). Jongin pinched her cheek when she needed a reality check after Baekhyun told that she had that pretty nail art in a fan sign. Jongin was everywhere she needed.

But she wasn't with Jongin when the latter decided to leave the fandom. She felt betrayed because he reasoned that it was just a natural decision as they grew up. (Baekhyun’s Getting Married)

Jongin who witnessed the beginning of her friendship with Jinri and Soojung was there when her eyes reflected excitement as her eager fingers were knitting a pair of mittens for Baekhyun's pretty hands. He was also with her when she felt the frustration of failing to get a concert ticket— the boy came with his DVD and they watched the concert in her dark room with their light sticks up in the air, illuminating their happiness. Jongin pinched her cheek when she needed to find herself that was lost in the moment the singer who sang like an angel told that she had pretty nails in a fan sign. Jongin was everywhere she needed.

But she wasn't with him when he decided to give himself a chance to explore more, to stop basing his happiness on the music they had loved. She felt unnecessary betrayal for he reasoned that it was just a time to grow up.

Ugh… am even I improving? lol

23.If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?

“Run to You” Although it had been on a major revamped, I still want to beautify her. XD

24.Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?

So many times!

25.What do you look for in a beta?

It would be so lovely to know their perspective on how I develop my plot.

26.Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?

I simply reread and rephrase.

27.How do you feel about collaborations?

I had done it twice! It was interesting. First, with my best friend who introduced me to fanfics. We wrote chanbaek/kaistal as dating agents but we abandoned it lol and for the second, was it a collab? Lol but I wrote a Woohyun fic based on the characters written by Melody (Blu3Wind) and she wrote the sequel to it. I am honoured that she was willing to develop a plot that I started.

28.Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Three don’t give me justice. There are a lot that I like from the classic chanbaek fics such as  Genna(surgicalfocus) her world building is inspiring, Fara (Exobubz) for the angst, really her angsty fics made me feel so deep, Kei (Youngwoo17) with her fluff, Austin (Areumdaun) her humour and fluff!

29.If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

I have no confidence for it. I don’t want to ruin something that is beautifully written.

30.Do you accept prompts?

Prompts are fine although sometimes it is hard to explore ideas.

31.Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?

I started to believe that Chanyeol/my oc May is canon asdghjsb

32.How do you feel about ?

If it could expand the plot better, why not?

33.How do you feel about crack?

I want to try one day with SeKai!

34.What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?

I have no idea. :/

35.Would you ever kill off a canon character?

The ones I ever killed in my fics were babies T.T, Chanyeol and a pet T.T

36.Which is your favorite site to post fic?

AFF

37.Talk about your current wips.

“In the nick of time”, a politic/crime au, it is something that I didn’t plan tbh. I was thinking of a romance about a woman who had to cope from heartbreak, the poster and foreword had been published but then it became something totally different. I changed the foreword, apologies to the subscribers OTL

38.Talk about a review that made your day.

The ones that told me that they could feel the emotions. I like knowing my fics could make the ones who read feel.

39.Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?

Never.

40.Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one)

AWFY… The pairing are still friends-friends because they have their own beautiful lives without each other but still meet from time to time because of co-parenting their unplanned kid XD
