Commander Triton wants to battle!

Talkative: Triton is a true chatterbox now that he's free. His parents always kept him down and quiet because come on, they're in an evil organisation, having a chatterbox is a nightmare. Throughout his years in Galactic, he became quieter and quieter. It ate away at him, because he really loves to just talk, tell people stories about his experiences, have fun conversations and making new friends! He's a social butterfly in heart and soul, and even if he has tried to tone it down for years, it naturally came out again once he was free from team Galactic. You can't lose this guy when he's trying to tell you a story, even if he's telling it for the 5th time already... You can't blame him for that, the boy is just very excited to be seeing you. One thing that he has learned from his years following evil, is that he has to shut up about said evil. He won't say a word about his past as Galactic commander, unless people really find him out before he even gets to tell them, or he trusts people enough to tell them about his past, cultish life.

 

Practical: he may not be the smartest, most athletic or quickest person, Triton has a practical and straight-forward way of thinking. He'll always do things in the most practical and efficient ways, not wasting much time nor energy. He has learned a lot of this from his mom Venus, who was one of the main researchers at Team Galactic, and extremely smart. He might not have the academy smarts she has, well, he's above average but not some sort of genius. But he has a great problem solving mind. Maybe this way of minimalizing effort and energy waste is laziness?

 

Energetic and enthusiastic: you might believe the contrary since he grew up in an evil organisation, but Triton is a happy boy. He always has an overflowing energy and is excited whenever he's imposed with any kind of challenge. He's always out there bouncing off the walls, sprinting around the whole region (pressing the B button eternally would probably work on him). He feels fearless and is ready to take on any fight, he just really likes to have action and fun in his life. He loves sports, despite having a little bit of a fluffy belly, he loves fights, challenges and adventure. Ever since he left Galactic, he's constantly been looking for new things to do, so taking on the Hoenn league and discovering the whole region is perfect for him.

 

Determined: small boy, huge goals. Especially now that he's out of Galactic. While he used to dream of becoming Cyrus' disciple and successor, he now dares to dream of taking down Cyrus, and Steven, and Cynthia, and Iris... and everyone. A whole new world just opened up for him, and it's making him so excited. He has always been very determined, even his parents being unable to stop him when he has set his mind on something. Caspian just has to mention the Pokémon league, and Triton already wants to tag along with Caspian immediately and take it down together. Once an idea crosses Triton's mind, he will work his hardest to actually achieve said idea.

 

Bold: little grunt Triton used to be an obedient one, but ever since he got promoted to commander, he has had a huge confidence boost. He has taken down so many hopeful 'rebels' who were on their way to defeat Cyrus, (these people all have main character syndrome smh). Him winning all those fights and getting a cool team really made Triton a bold one. He dares to provoke, he dares to stir the pot. He isn't scared to go up against authority, this mostly showing in him actually stealing from team Galactic in the end. He's not someone to back off easily. He is just out there doing his own thing, and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks, he does whatever the he wants.

 

Prideful and ignorant: leaving a cultish organisation that you've grown up in and have been indoctrinated by is no easy task. Especially when you're such a widely admired and feared commander. Grunts love him, trainers fear him. Even now, he's hanging around in the beginner league of trainers with two amazingly strong pokémon in his back pocket. He doesn't bring them out unless needed, but it really gives him this feeling that he's still in a position of power. It's hard to get rid of the pride he got from being in such a high rank at a young age. It got to his head, but at this moment he fails to realise that. On top of that, he still has a bit of Galactic left inside him, it's really hard to get rid of it all when it's been your whole life. Because of this, Triton can sometimes appear ignorant, especially when he's confronted with things that go against Galactic's beliefs. Eventually he will learn, and become less and less ignorant, but he will always have this pride in him. He's a good trainer, he has a Bronzong that is widely feared in Sinnoh, just chilling in his back pocket while he's facing beginner trainers? Of course he's going to feel prideful. In the end, Triton is like a naive child, so he often fails to see that what he's saying is wrong. He's been indoctrinated all his life, that takes time to get rid of. On top of that, he became a commander at a way too young age, resulting in the fame and power getting to his head.

 

Naive and immature: Triton may be 20 already, and a strong and feared trainer in Sinnoh, he's very immature for his age. Because of his childhood that was indoctrination and cult stuff mixed with spoilings from rich and influential parents, Triton's mind is still stuck in his teens. He reacts very immaturely to conflict, either throwing a tantrum or starting to cry. He doesn't like being under authority now that he's free, so older trainers that just want to help him grow may have a hard time when Triton's not feeling it. He also believes anything people say, because his mind was wired to do so by Galactic. Again, it's the growing up in a cult thing that has messed with his mind, and influenced his flaws. Caspain could tell him that he is Team Rocket's leader, and has an Arceus in his party, and Triton would believe it.

 

Impulsive and greedy: just like a true Galactic grunt that charges at the strongest trainer in the whole region with just a Zubat, Triton still has that fighting spirit. He doesn't overthink his plans when he's influenced by emotions. Yes, he may be practical, when he can think about it, but sometimes his emotions make him unable to think, and then he goes into things recklesly. He's the kind of guy that would go face the champion with a Bidoof just for an ice cream. It often gets him into trouble, as he can piss off any big guy he runs into on his adventure, wether it be some random karate man looking for a battle, or a whole evil team. Well, he has pissed off a whole evil team in fact, by leaving and stealing their pokémon. His parents were livid when they found out, because that increased the risk of them ever going back to Sinnoh, and it put a target on their backs in Hoenn as well. Immature, prideful Triton also tends to want way too much. He bites off way more than he can chew because of his greed, which is also something that resulted from his time as a feared commander. In hindsight, becoming a commander really has done so many bad things to Triton's mind, but he never realized how bad it was until he left, and got to live a normal life. He is trying to work on this, but he can't help but drag resources towards himself. His parents spoiled him a lot, he got whatever he wanted when he was a kid, sometimes he still thinks he has that power.

PKMN trainer Triton wants to battle!

 

BACKGROUND Triton was born in Veilstone City in the region of Sinnoh, to Neptune Huang, team Galactic's first commander, and Venus Chou, one of Galactic's top researchers. He was their golden child, and generally viewed by Team Galactic as someone who could be a very powerful tool for them in the future. He grew up in this organisation cult and got indoctrinated with the Galactic mindset from a young age. But at home, he was spoilt rotten by his parents. He'd get a boatload of love, and even more toys and gifts. He could get anything he wanted. He even got a pet Shinx when he was 12 years old. He may have been Galactic's golden child, he was his parents' little moon first and for all. But they failed to realise what was going on in the organisation and what they were doing to little Triton.

 

After barely ever leaving his house during childhood, being homeschooled by his mom under the supervision of team galactic, and not really having any friends, Triton became a grunt at 16. He was so excited to receive his Bronzor and could finally start battling. But sometimes, when he saw the hopeful little faces of the trainees of his age that he took down with a cold heart, he felt an ache. They could be friends, but instead they were forced to be enemies. Triton wanted to talk to them, introduce them to Team Galactic in a good way, not fight. After he accidentally spilled some information to a trainer that took advantage of him, Triton was punished and told to remain quiet, or he'd be shunned. From then on, Triton sadly didn't try to convince people in his way anymore, and instead just defeated everyone with a cold heart. That earned him a quick promotion to commander, joining Saturn, Jupiter and Mars in their ranks and replacing his dad, Neptune. Not everyone agreed with it, but Triton was still the golden child of the team, and he really had a feel for battling. Since his parents were very influencial towards Cyrus and the other high ranks, Triton was allowed to do more than a normal commander, like keeping his roots black like he wanted, having a Gible and keeping the Bronzong he had trained from when he was a grunt. It all ended up really messing with his head, and Triton didn't even realise. But his parents did.

 

When Cyrus brought in the crazy idea of using the lake trio, Mesprit, Uxie and Azelf, to summon the literal gods of space and time, Neptune and Venus had enough. They couldn't agree with this idea, and didn't think it would work at all, so they packed their bags, grabbed Triton and left Galactic. Because they were so important, Galactic needed some time to re-establish their hierarchy, and laid low for a while. But since they could come for the Huang family, they moved to a tiny island town in Hoenn to start a new and hopefully quiet life, without Galactic ever finding them, hopefully... They quit being pokémon trainers, but still kept Takoyaki because she was more of a house pet, but Triton didn't share that idea. While leaving Galactic, he was forced to hand all his pokémon back, but he couldn't. Triton had grown too attached to his Bronzong and Gabite, and decided to steal them, completely on a whim. When his parents found out, they were livid. Not only did he commit a crime while they are trying to stay away from it now, Galactic could possibly be out there hunting for him, to take his pokémon back. Triton refused to give them to his parents, and ended up fleeing the house for the day.

 

When he was out walking around in the nature surrounding the town, Triton bumped into a young trainer. Someone who looked shy, and sweet, and smaller than him. His instincts prepared Triton for a battle, but instead, he decided to try and talk. This trainer's name was Caspian. A boy from Galar, a region Triton had never heard before, and he was taking on the Hoenn league. Hoenn league? What's that? Triton was stunned. This was so different from what he thought being a trainer was like. Caspian told him all about catching pokémon, taking on gym leaders, team Rocket and how they are bad guys for stealing pokémon and trying to manipulate a deity (Triton did gulp a bit at that one). A whole new world opened up as Caspian explained away. He was shocked that Triton didn't know all of this, but he assumed that he had just grown up isolated, or in a remote region. The boy had Triton hooked, and he ran back to his home to pack his bags. He wanted to go on an adventure like Caspian, he was so cool, that was what Triton wanted to be like. He admired Caspian, and wanted to tag along with him to learn all about Hoenn and the ways of being an actual pokémon trainer. He hastily yelled at his parents that he was taking on the pokémon league. His dad started yelling angrily, but his mom ran after him as he bolted out of the door. "At least take her with you?" she asked, holding Shinx in her arms. She sent the boy off, and he departed on his impromptu adventure. When Caspian told him that he was allowed to nickname his pokémon, Triton was again in shock. He barely even knew about potions or repels, since Galactic had limited supplies, but now he could suddenly catch pokémon? Battle strong people? Discover many new places? Triton was so excited. Caspian was confused, but didn't mind the company of this sweet, somewhat rowdy boy, and his baby Shinx.

 

What would really surprise Caspian though, is when he was being attacked by a big scary pokémon, and Triton called out something way more intimidating than that little Shinx he had. A big, fearsome Bronzong. How in the hell did this brand new trainee have a Bronzong? After Caramel scared the pokémon away, Caspian asked about it. Triton thought about it for a moment and then shrugged, "It's my dad's pokémon! He gave it to me to act as a bodyguard on this journey," Triton laughed. Caspian took the excuse at that moment, but something was seriously fishy about this kid... Triton was weird, and Caspian was a little bit intimidated by him and his Bronzong.

- As a kid he got told that Drifloons kidnap children, so he's been scared of Drifloons and Drifblims all his life and still thinks they're going to take him whenever he sees one, despite being a young adult now.

- despite having a love for electric types, Triton wants to build a balanced team, but will end up with a double ghost and double dragon type team. He just picked pokémon and mishmashed them together based on how much he liked them.
- His Bronzong was feared throughout Sinnoh, bringing it out near sinnoh residents could be risky cause it could make bells ring
- Zubats are the most annoying mons in the world, every cave he enters, Triton will get at least 5 zubats in his face
- This is Triton's first time getting out of his home region, he barely even went outside when he was younger except for galactic missions

Triton was always spoiled a lot by his parents. Neptune used to be a commander in Galactic, while Venus was one of their top researchers. Triton was raised by them into galactic, and they honestly regret isolating him from the rest of the world. Them leaving the team was mostly Venus' doing, because she couldn't find any good endings in the ideas Cyrus had with the legendary pokémon. After the disagreements the whole family fled. Neptune is still against Triton becoming a traveling pokémon trainer, but Venus has become supportive. She gave him Takoyaki to go along on the journey, often calls and sends him and his friends gifts and useful items, and even brought home a Litwick just for Triton. They're still trying to adjust to their normal lives after being part of team Galactic for so long, and are genuinely trying to be good people in their new little society.

 

- Caspian Hamasaki / first friend in Hoenn (@)
Triton pretty much runs into Caspian by accident when he was exploring the island he had just moved to. A shy boy, who was also a foreigner just like Triton. They enjoyed each other's presence immediately and Caspian managed to teach Triton the basics of catching pokémon and the league system, despite being so awkward. Triton's admiration for Caspian gave him a little confidence boost, in Triton's eyes, Caspian was this master trainer with amazing little mons that really loved him. But when Caramel pops out of its ball to protect Caspian without Triton ever even mentioning it, Caspian grows a little suspicious of this Triton boy.

 

 

- Veena Zhang / some kind of big sis? (@cloud)
While Veena, the old gym leader, was veeerrrry suspicious of this boy, acting all shifty whenever evil teams arrived and strangely attracts Team Galactic, Triton has always looked at Veena as what he wants to be. Strong, intimidating, cool as , kicking in doors secret agent style and . He really wants that overflowing charisma of hers, and honestly, he used to have some of it as commander, but obviously he can't really show that off. Veena will eventually figure out his past, and will see Triton as a threat, causing a whole ruckus in the group, but eventually, she will see that Triton is a changed man, or at least trying to change. They will develop a closer bond after that and she will help him grow as both a trainer and person.

 

 

- Lyon Kang / a big brother figure (@Yanni)
Lyon? He's so cool, he's like the coolest dude Triton has ever seen. At first, he really didn't like Lyon, because he knew. Lyon saw this cute face of Triton, and immediately knew that he was Galactic commander Triton. He was very suspicious of Triton, and surprisingly knowledgeable about Team Galactic and other evil teams. Triton always thought 'wow, he sure is smart', taking way too long to figure out that Lyon is actually very high in the ranks of another evil team. When Triton musters up the courage to confront him about it, Lyon starts to slowly shed some light on the situation, but not too much because Triton is a chatterbox, but just enough to string the boy along, and have him follow Lyon like a puppy. He's the first one that knows of Triton's little urge to take down Cyrus and Team Galactic, and will help him indirectly by asking him about how he's going to do it. That way, he'll push Triton towards a certain good plan, instead of just letting him barge into the team HQ on his own.

 

 

- Aiden Kim / a very energetic new buddy
Aiden and Triton are both very energetic little beans, so once they cross paths on their adventure, they hit it off immediately. Poor Caspian's ears... They're just a fun duo and really vibe with each other because of their matching energies. Even though sometimes, there are struggles because Aiden is very open, while Triton can sometimes be close-minded and ignorant because of his past. But Aiden sees the good in his heart and can put himself past Triton's flaws. Even when he finds out about Triton's past, it's not a deal breaker for him. Triton's good now, he didn't know that Galactic was bad, Aiden is very understanding despite still being disappointed about it. (I feel like he would accept it? idk he seems like a lovely kid) They're the same age as well, but Triton tends to be jealous of Aiden's looks and height.

 

 

- Saturn / enemy #1 (idk if you'll use a real fc for existing in game characters but you can pick out some dude to replace cartoon and game Saturn if it's needed!)

Saturn became the highest commander after Neptune decided to hand over his spot to Triton. Ever since Triton was young, he had always admired Saturn, he was so cool, growing so quick at a young age and becoming really fearsome. He was also such a great example for the Galactic grunts because he was the most loyal to Cyrus despite not knowing his real plans. Saturn was friendly towards Triton as their work relationship allowed, but now that Triton has left, he has developed a disgust for the older commander. He was always so cold and dismissive, talking young trainers and all that, and Triton never really realised how mean he was. Now Triton considers Saturn enemy #1, and really wants to take him down personally. Not just because he wants to face team Galactic, but also on a personal level. He's the rival in this story. Triton really just wants to make him shut his mouth and learn some decency.

HELLO, AND THANK YOU FOR AGREEING TO THIS INTERVIEW. TO START OFF, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF! "Hiya! Thanks for having this interview with me!" Triton showed his signature bright smile, bowing politely. "I'm Triton Hu- I mean Triton, just Triton, yes!" Shoot. Triton just almost mentioned his full name, something that he really dislikes to do regarding his past. He kept up his smile, but the hestitation was visible on his face.

 

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT STARTING YOUR JOURNEY? NERVOUS? EXCITED? BOTH? "I've never really been a pokémon trainer before... I've only had Takoyaki before this, and we would just play at home... I never got outside often, or had many friends..." Triton began to explain, he wanted to talk way more, but he had to carefully speak every word to not have any slip-ups again. "I'm both so nervous and excited! I feel full of energy, but I'm really new to all of this... It's very scary too..." The boy got noticeably excited while talking about the journey he was about to embark on, grinning happily and explaining everything with big gestures. "I want to meet many new pokémon, defeat all the gyms, discover new towns... Do you think I'll get to meet some legendaries?" Triton audibly gasps, "That would be so cool, don't you think??"

 

I SEE. WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON TRAVELING WITH OTHERS? "I really like to make friends, and talk a lot usually! So I really want to travel with others, I never really had many friends before so now's the time to make them! I do feel kinda bad for my friends though, because my parents always say I talk way too much..." Triton grinned sheepishly, confessing about his tendencies to be way too chatty sometimes. He hoped to get some company that wouldn't mind listening to his endless chatter.

 

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SUMMER? "I learned about Lava cookies earlier, and I NEED to try them!" Triton expressed his excitement about the famous delicacy, having a bright smile on his face. "I also have my eyes set on acquiring a certain pokémon, a Snorunt! It's going to be hard to find, especially a female one, but I really want a Froslass in my team! And of course, I really want to see all corners of Hoenn!"

 

LASTLY, WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS JOURNEY? "Uhh... My goal for now... Is to become the champion!" Triton had to think for a moment to come up with a goal. While he'd love to take down the champion, his main goal lies in Sinnoh and can't really be revealed, after all.

- Triton's very first pokémon is also currently his weakest. Little Takoyaki was a gift from his parents when Triton was a pre-teen. Takoyaki was more of a house pet than a battle tool, unlike the pokémon he got later on, therefor, this spunky lady barely has any battle experience. She's basically still a beginner pokémon, as Triton wasn't allowed to bring her into Team Galactic battles. Maybe for the better, cause it turns out that Takoyaki has a thing for just picking out her own moves instead of Triton's orders.

 

In the beginning, Triton and Takoyaki didn't get along at all, and they would fight a lot. But through the fighting, a strong bond grew. While Takoyaki is still spunky, naughty and disobedient, they would never leave each other's side. Now Triton just has to get the obedience in battle thing in order, but that will come with time.

- Caramel the Bronzong is Triton's ace pokémon. This duo has the most battle experience out of any of Triton's pokémon and they work together really well. Caramel is a heavy hitting, hard to kill wall. It's the one that Triton's friends and rivals are scared to face. It ruined the teams of many rebels that tried to go against Team Galactic.

 

Caramel was originally given to Triton when he became a grunt for Team Galactic, when it was still a little Bronzor. While it generally wasn't a good thing to develop a bond with pokémon you were given by the great organisation, Triton immediately felt a bond with this tiny Bronzor, and trained it vigorously. This was the first pokémon he really trained by himself, and Caramel grew into a massive threat. When Triton got promoted to commander, it was mostly because of the strength of Caramel, and he got to keep it.

 

Caramel isn't capable of showing much emotion, but the emotion it can show shows that it is really fond of Triton. When Triton had to leave Team Galactic, he had to give his whole team back to them, including Caramel and Cool beans. He didn't want to let go of the two pokémon he got to bond with, and so he stole Caramel and Cool beans and ran off. Now Caramel is Triton's bodyguard on this new adventure, and the protector of his new baby pokémon and friends. Caramel doesn't fight a lot nowadays because of the sheer power it has, but it will come out when needed, even if Triton doesn't tell it to come out.

- Cool beans is a special pokémon Triton got when he was promoted to Galactic commander. No one else in Team Galactic had a Gible, and every grunt and admin was jealous of Triton for that. Because his parents are very high up in the organisation, they managed to get a little influence in so Triton was allowed to fight with a Gible. It didn't take long before Cool beans evolved into a Gabite, and he has turned into a hard hitting threat. And he isn't even fully evolved yet!

Just like Caramel, Cool beans was able to bond with Triton, because he was with the boy since he had just hatched. When Triton left Team Galactic, he also couldn't leave Cool beans behind, since he was kind of Triton's child. Nowadays, just like Caramel, Cool beans doesn't get to fight often, but he doesn't mind. While he loves his fight from time to time, he's happy that he can have some relaxing time. He does prefer to stay away from noisy pokémon like Takoyaki. But he does join Caramel in protecting Triton and the kiddos.

- Marshmallow the cute fluffy Swablu will be the first pokémon Triton ever catches himself. It was a struggle because Triton had never thrown a pokéball before, but Marshmallow liked this kid, so she just let him catch her. Marshmallow is a sweet, calm little birb who will grow into a dangerous defensive wall, dragon dancing her way to a one-shot once she evolves into Altaria.

 

Triton is putting a lot of effort into her training, because this is the first Hoenn pokémon he caught, and the first one ever that was actually caught by him. He is very attached to this birb and he usually sleeps cuddled up to Marshmallow and Takoyaki. Speaking of the devil, Takoyaki can't help but feel a little jealous of all the love Marshmallow has been getting recently. This birdie is just very sweet, she can steal anyone's heart with her charms.

- doesn't like to battle as much so stays in her pokéball often, but will become less shy and careful as she grows and evolves

 

- Milkshake is a young Snorunt that Triton has caught in Hoenn. He really wanted a female Snorunt so he went on a hunt for one in a cave. What he got is this little shy baby. He's absolutely smitten with her and takes care of her greatly, but Milkshake is not the most social pokémon. From the other pokémon she only really plays with Marshmallow so far, and is often fooled by Harbinger of doom. But as she gets more experience and grows stronger, Milkshake will eventually come out of her shell.

 

Triton has always really wanted a Froslass, because he finds those pokémon so fascinating, so he will ask his parents to get a dawn stone from their home region so that Milkshake can grow into a big, beautiful, speedy and fierce Froslass.

 

 

 

JOURNEY HISTORY When he meets the first one of the main cast (probably Caspian), Triton would've literally just moved into Hoenn from Sinnoh. From the Galactic city life to a small, calm island town, far away from any evil team. He had never even caught a pokémon yet, and his parents didn't want him to be a trainer anymore. Safe to say, Triton was still a bit taken aback. He was used to the Galactic admin life, and suddely it's all just gone, he's a pokémon thief that could probably never face Galactic ever again, and he's just a bit lost. But when meeting the main cast, he will be introduced to the gym system, the journeys and how rewarding being an actual pokémon trainer is. It will encourage Triton to embark on a journey as well, mostly just following in Caspian's footsteps at first so he could be teached the ropes.

 

DREAM Triton doesn't really have a long-term dream yet, since he's just now learning about the complete world, but what he does really want is to see the legendary pokémon that his former leader Cyrus so wants to see. Like he obviously doesn't want to do whatever the Cyrus is doing, he just wants to see what it's all about. Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, the lake trio... They seem so far away, yet so close. There is also this tiny voice in his head that is telling Triton to go fight Cyrus and take him down to dismantle Galactic. He also feels a personal rivalry with commander Saturn, and really wants to defeat him.

 

TRIVIA 
- Triton does not know how to catch a pokémon
- He did learn how to make poffins from his mom, but he is still just a beginner
- Triton could smash pretty much every other beginning trainer with Caramel and Cool beans, but he doesn't like that mindset, so he just brings them out whenever they are chilling with the pokémon or he is in desperate need of a big strong pokémon
- Caramel always gets out of its pokéball whenever Triton and later on Caspain feel threatened
- Triton is unable to re-enter Sinnoh for the moment as he's still being sought after by team Galactic for stealing two of their best pokémon, but he'll return once his team is strong enough to take them all on. They might actually send some galactics to Hoenn to pay the family a visit and take away all the pokémon Triton has, if they feel like it. The Huang family has valuable pokémon and information, they can't just be out running free like that.
- He literally didn't know about nicknaming pokémon until Caspian explained it, and then he decided on nicknames for his three companions at that moment. Triton likes names that are either food or something silly.
