Energetic and active: Dohyun grew up with a love for being active and tiring himself. He has heaps of energy to spend on daily activities and will want to use that energy as well. Dohyun hates to sit still and do nothing. He doesn't want to ever stand still in his life, no lazy time, no rest, not even when he's ill, he wants to move, wear himself out, advance in his life. He jumps from one thing to the other like a bouncy ball because he has so much energy to spend. He leads an active and healthy lifestyle and has a big love for sports. There is no time to be tired in Dohyun's life. He wants to try as many things as he can, have a toned, muscled body and get tired and sweaty from sports. It's like he has an extra battery to use compared to other people.

Caring and helpful: Dohyun is a blessing to have around once you got close to him. He doesn't easily make friends because of his shy personality, but once you get into his heart, you won't regret it. Dohyun always shows a lot of concern towards others' well-being and will always be there for the people he loves. He loves to help people and make his friends happy by doing so, not expecting anything in return. He's very kind despite his shyness, almost too kind sometimes. He's a joy, so lovely to be with. He marches by his own beat, but he will always put other people before himself.

Calm: Stress is not really a problem in Dohyun's life. It just doesn't really get to him. His heart is calm, his mind is messy but also calm. While its never a good idea to leave Dohyun alone cause something will eventually go wrong, he usually isnt even bothered. If Dohyun panics, you know is absolutely serious and you better call 911 immediately. Usually, small fires, big spiders and scary bugs are chased away by Dohyun who remains cool as ice while doing it. If he doesnt accidentally drop the fire extinguisher or breaks a lamp while trying to kill the spider, at least.

Quiet: You generally won't hear Dohyun very much, except for his little grins when someone else tells a joke. He's a quiet bean, not really saying a lot generally, especially when there are many people around, and people that he doesn't know. But on stage or in front of cameras this isnt noticeable at all. Dohyun knows how to flip it all around and act more talkative and fun in front of a camera. But when he switches back to regular Dohyun and not Misfits Dohyun, the talkativeness is gone.

Clumsy and absentminded: While his previous career required full concentration, and he was mostly able to do that, Dohyun can be very absentminded when his mind is not set onto something like a gymnastics performance. His body doesn't always listen to him, and that can go from tripping over his own feet and dropping his phone to actually injuring himself during dancing or performing gymnastics because some kind of invisible entity made him trip. He is extremely clumsy and is always very sheepish about it, but it can also be frustrating to him and it has caused injury before, luckily he had nothing severe happen unlike his fellow clumsy gymnast, Song Jaegyu. She didn't get off as easy as him when he fell from his rings several times. What certainly doesn't help here is how much he gets lost in his own thoughts as well. Dohyun lives in his own world and often gets lost in it. He's often found running into things because he was daydreaming while walking around, forgetting important points people just explained because he was too busy thinking and stuff like that. Glass doors are his biggest enemy.

Awkward and shy: Off-stage, regular boy Dohyun has never been good at being social. While he is a bright and talkative person once he sees a camera, once it is face to face talk, he completely shuts down. You can just see his brain go in overdrive while math equasions appear around his face as he thinks of what to say. Luckily he doesn't say much cause this poor bean could easily ruin the vibe by saying something wrong, bringing the group into an awkward situation. The poor guy just doesn't know what to do! He doesn't make friends easily and is quite shy because of that as well. He's afraid of pushing people away by his lack of social skills so he just doesn't let people come too close unless he is almost sure that they won't mind his awkwardness.

Naive and dependent: Dohyun would love to just live his own life and do whatever the he wants, he can't really do that... yet? Dohyun is the kind of guy that believes everything you say even though it sounds surreal, just because he trusts you. If you're his friend you can literally convince him anything, unless its off the charts bonkers, he's not THAT stupid... Or is he? Dohyun's mind is quite naive and his thinking is childish in a way. He tries so hard to move past that stage but he just can't stop being a naive little bean? This makes him very dependent on others, together with his absentminded and clumsy nature. He needs other people to watch him, or something will inevitably go wrong. He'd probably enter a suspicious dirty white van if they had his favourite kind of candy. He's very good at giving the leader grey hairs, and he doesn't even mean to.

Dohyun was born as the oldest child of the Yoon family in Oksan. He would later be blessed with two adorable little rascals as his little brother and sister. Since a young age, Dohyun had been watching over the two, making sure his precious siblings were safe. Since he was young, the kid was going around, dancing, jumping, doing crazy tricks. Dohyun was generally a child that was as sweet as candy, but hard to handle because of his behaviour. The hyperactive energy, the clumsiness, but also his shyness and naivity made him a child that had to be watched constantly. His social skills weren't as good as others. It was already noticeable from when he was a baby, when he didn't respond to his own name for longer than usual. His speech was also not easy to master, having issues with pronounciation and a lisp. After lots of hard work and practice, the lisp has almost disappeared, but you can still hear the traces of it.

Dohyun would often switch from one hobby to another quick, throwing himself into something new very fast but then also growing tired of it just as fast. But even with that he'd always live by his own plans, following his own routines and doing it all his own way. He was an odd child, but one of the most kind hearted kids in his class. These signs of different behavior compared to other kids made his parents speculate, and in his teenage years, they'd be proven right. Dohyun would be placed on the autism spectrum. Luckily, it wasn't severe.

Ever since he was in kindergarten, Dohyun only had a few close friends because of his shyness, but two kids of his class were particularly close with him. A pair of adorable little twins. The Song twins, to be exact. Song Jaewook and Song Jaegyu. Back then, they wouldn't know what an influence they'd have on Dohyun's life. They have been friends for pretty much their whole life, and are still going strong to the present day. While Dohyun was always very close with Jaewook, Jaegyu was his best friend. Wild, silly, loud Jaegyu. She was something for sure, but she was very enjoyable to be with.

In elementary school, Dohyun finally found a hobby that he wasn't growing tired of, gymnastics. Jaegyu had joined the club, and Dohyun was curious because of that. This sport would end up changing their lives, but they didn't know that when they walked into their first training together. They were both wearing purple, because its both of their favourite color. Adorably matching.

After a few trainings, Dohyun thought that this was finally it, the hobby he could stick with for a longer time and wouldnt get tired of after a few weeks. And his intuition was right. He'd end up doing gymnastics for way longer than he even expected. It didn't take long before Dohyun and Jaegyu started rapidly growing in this sport. Oksan's elementary school had two little prodigies bouncing around in their gymnastics team. Their teachers hoped that they'd pursue this, because they thought they had two stars in front of them, two energetic little purple stars.

They would end up being proven right as Dohyun and Jaegyu grew older. First came regionals, then nationals, then they climbed even higher. First being put in the national youth teams to go compete internationally to then both continue growing to the main teams. Dohyun excelled at the still rings but also had a strong and graceful ground exercise, while Jaegyu was on her way to become the best Korean girl that had ever touched the uneven bars.

2014 was the year that really blew their careers wide open. Dohyun and Jaegyu always did it together, they succeeded together, they didn't even try, but somehow they were always selected at the same time. The two little stars from Oksan soon turned into national pride. 2014 was the year of their Youth olympics run and also their first asian games, which really put them on the map. 17 years old, ready to take on the world.

At the youth asian olympics, Dohyun and Jaegyu were the only South Korean gymnasts present, so they stuck together for most of the time (as if that wasn't always the case). Jaewook had wished he had come along, but his esports career stopped him from doing so. In the end, Dohyun got bronze on the rings, and 15th on the floor exercise. Jaegyu got 8th on the uneven bars. After the youth olympics it was time for their first Asian games. Here, Dohyun unfortunately couldn't grab any medal, but got 4th place, while Jaegyu actually won the uneven bars this time after having an extremely good day.

As Dohyun was getting closer and closer to the top of the gymnastics table, he was losing more and more interest. He was determined so he kept working hard, but he wasn't having as much fun anymore. He needed something new to focus on. His interests started shifting to music and performing in his teenage years, which also strangely made him enjoy the floor exercises more than his usual favourite, the rings. As he grew more and more interested in music and kpop, he'd tell himself that he'd retire once he got an olympic medal, and then go off to become a kpop trainee if he wasnt too old yet. He wanted something new, his mind was fed up with gymnastics, you know? Such feelings were very normal for Dohyun. The first one he consulted about this was Jaegyu, who was of course devastated. She didn't want her best buddy to leave this quick and go off to do something completely different that would be far away from her. She totally didn't expect to lose her twin brother out of all people to the same career later on.

As they grew and reached their peaks, Dohyun and Jaegyu became quite popular athletes in Korea, because they had fun personalities and good looks. They had fans who had their social media fanpages, similar to athletes like yuzuru hanyu and the japanese national volleyball team. They were popular and it was only growing. When they qualified for the rio olympics in 2016, together, again, of course, they were over the moon. Going on that trip that could be their last gymnastics competition together gave it a whole different vibe though. And Dohyun started to feel some weird things in his heart, while the usually cheerful Jaegyu was surprisingly sad about Dohyun's potential nearing retirement. He had been named as a favourite for the rings discipline, she knew that his retirement was closing in. And she was right.

Glory came to South Korea when they gained two new olympic medalists in gymnastics. Dohyun ended 5th on the floor exercise and 9th overall, which was already spectacular for a debutee, but on the rings he showed his expertise and managed to earn silver. He had made it, he had achieved his goal. Jaegyu didn't know if she was excited or sad. Dohyun's last competition had just finished, after all. Jaegyu also went to grab a silver medal on the uneven bars. Of course they earned silver together, as always, earning them the nicknames of the silver prince and silver princess. If dating rumors weren't already frequenting these 19 year olds, these olympics made them pop up even more.

After his medal ceremony, Dohyun made a surprising announcement at the press conference, on national korean TV. Jaegyu had seen it coming, but still couldnt help but shed a few tears while watching.

"By the way, I'm retiring now. I have achieved my goal here. I'm going to become an idol!" Dohyun said with a 'je ne sais quois' vibe around him and showed a silly little grin to the camera, to all the shocked fans. Dohyun had always lived on his own way, but this was his most surprising move yet. The shocking news quickly spread everywhere, as the two stars were gracing every newspaper front page.

Entertainments scrambled to pick up Dohyun after this news, while his skills weren't polished at all yet. He could definitely dance, but his singing was not really anything to write home about yet, he could almost hold a tune and that was about it. But having a famous gymnast in your boy group could be a big deal, especially for smaller companies. Dohyun didn't like all these companies fighting to pick him up and denied every single one. He went MIA, he didn't feel like he was good enough to start training officially, and besides, he just ing did the olympics, boy deserved a break. After a break and then practicing, a year had already passed. Dohyun started looking for companies, but since the hype of him becoming an idol died down, he didn't get easily accepted anymore, but on the other side, Dohyun also walked out of a lot of auditions after not really vibing with the company. During this time, he spent a lot of time practicing with Jaewook, with Jaegyu invading their lessons more often than not. Then 2018 began, February, to be more exact, and he found the company that was right for him, DNA. Led by two lovely noonas that could help him learn about the idol life.

TRAINING 

▸ [ February 2018: humble beginnings... kinda ]  

   -- After practicing on his own and with Jaewook, polishing his skills a bit before trying to get into a company. He had denied a lot of company love calls at the beginning because he didn't feel ready. But once he started auditioning, they either didn't let him pass, or he walked out of the audition because it didn't feel right. DNA was the first one that felt right for him and accepted him.

Training was weird for him at first, because Dohyun had no prior experience in a company. He also thought he'd be able to just walk in like normal and not have anyone recognise Dohyun. But Dohyun, you're a gymnastics star, do you really think you could walk in unnoticed? When people recognised him immediately, Dohyun was quite shocked. He expected people to not remember him anymore after this year of being MIA, but he definitely thought wrong. Dohyun was probably the most recognized trainee among the seven that they had picked up together.

▸ [ The original seven ]  

   -- Dohyun being a shy one made it hard for him to open up to the other trainees at first. While they all knew him, he didn't know them at all. It was a weird dynamic, but that's how it goes when you enter a team when you're already known quite well... It took a while for him to get adjusted to his new life, but he worked hard to do it. Once he got used to training and managed to get close to the rest of the trainees, Dohyun was doing much better. His singing never really got further than holding a tone, but his dancing and rapping developed nicely for him to remain in the group. His dancing was always a standout, because while the misfits songs are heavy hitters, Dohyun manages to make every single choreography look graceful, like he's performing a highly technical floor routine.

Dohyun was a quiet member of the original seven, but he was loved nontheless and (most of?) the others really liked him and his presence. Even though he was an odd one and he caused some issues sometimes, the others loved him and he was a great member of this little group.

▸ [ The new four ]  

   -- When it was announced that they would be eleven, and not seven, Dohyun was confused, and didn't know what to do. He worked so hard to get close to the other 6, now he had to do all of the same again? The new four found Dohyun an oddball who didn't really talk to them and preferred to be on his own. To this day, Dohyun is still not completely opened up to the new four because he was so used to this group of seven, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't like these new boys. it's just hard for him to open up to these new boys when he got so used to that old group, and worked so hard to get integrated into that group as well.

    A voice on the lower end, quite raspy and striking. He has a powerful rap that captivates people. He's not the best rapper of the group but he's still bound to improve and fills his position of lead rap very well.

   The main reason why Dohyun isnt a main dancer is because he can't bring the power the main dancer does bring. So Dohyun got put into the lead dancer position despite his background in gymnastics and being a really good dancer in general. He's a very clean and graceful dancer, making any dance look beautiful, delicate and graceful, yet amazing, like a gymnast doing a floor exercise.

▸ MISFIT ANTICS

   --   mr popular   Being internationally famous before joining the trainee group, at first Dohyun was the most popular guy amongst other trainees and fans despite his shy personality. This is also what gave him the fotg title, because of his predebut popularity that could bring in new fans. Groupmates often call him mr popular because of it, and it always makes him blush and deny all of it.

   --   awkward bean   When the group is asked about who one of the most awkward and shy people was at the beginning, they all unanimously mention Dohyun. Because he is so talkative on camera, it is often a surprise to fans and people that only know him as celebrity Dohyun.

   --   he's beauty, he's grace   A big standout about Dohyun that was visible from when he first showed off his dance to the rest of the group, is how graceful he is when he dances. It's what comes from his gymnastics career and expertise in the floor exercise. He has a very clean posture and even if the choreographies are strong, he will somehow make it look graceful.

Yoon Sihyun Dohyun's way too pretty younger brother, being a wee 17 year old, puberty just hit him like a damn TRUCK. Dohyun is extremely jealous that his little brother turned out so pretty while he's left with those squinty eyes that permanently make him look tired. Dohyun for sure didn't look that good back when he was 17. He's constantly grumpy about it and Sihyun loves it. He used to be Dohyun's little baby brother who was always hugging his leg, but lately, all Sihyun does is sass Dohyun. Not that he minds-

Sihyun's dream is to become a sports doctor, so he can make careers of people like Dohyun and Jaegyu easier. He admires his brother a lot, even though he doesn't mention it as much as he used to. (fc: Ab6ix' Daehwi)

Yoon Juhyun The baby of the Yoon family. A 12 year old young queen, she knows that she is a queen and both of her big brothers would give her anything. She's a little popular chatterbox who loves teasing her shy big brother Dohyun. Just like Sihyun, she has been sassing him a lot lately, shocking Dohyun. Well, she's learning from the best. song jaewook Dohyun has known both of the Song twins for as long as he can remember. While he has spent most of his time with the loud twin, Jaegyu, he is still very close with Jaewook. It's just that Jaewook wasnt the one that shared the same former career as Dohyun, you know? Well, now he actually does, but they can't be together as much, sadly. Jaegyu was SHOOK when she realised that both her bestie and twin brother had left their previous careers to become idols. Like how in the world? Is this a calling for her to become one as well?

Dohyun and Jaewook are buddies, they get along very well despite both being super shy. They can understand each other and feel at ease with each other, you know? They aren't the most sociable guys so they can go from teasing and laughing to sitting in complete silence, but they're always happy when they're together. They openly cheer for each other on broadcast despite being pitted against each other as rivals. They said 'rivalry? what rivalry? that! we're homies.'

jin byungwoo Anyone who is close with Jaewook also knows Byungwoo. For sure. And Dohyun is just the same way. He has known Byungwoo ever since he joined Jaewook's team, so they have known each other for quite a while now. Because Jaewook got so close with Byungwoo in a short time, Dohyun felt like he could trust Byungwoo as well. Now all Dohyun does is operation make Byungwoo gay panic about Jaewook. Yes, even naive Dohyun knows perfectly what's going on between these two, and he's there to matchmake. When Jaewook isn't involved, these two still get along really well as same aged friends and they have a fun, teasing dynamic. Dohyun also tries to help Byungwoo with dancing but that is often met with grumbles and complaints from the latter.

choi taeho Outside of the Song twins, Dohyun has had another childhood friend that he is still very close with. That man is Choi Taeho. In a way, he's similar to Jaegyu, because he's a silly . Just like her. Does Dohyun attract this type? Taeho has tried to become a trainee as well since a young age but after some scams and a group debut that went by completely unnoticed, he has decided make the switch to becoming a producer, going under the pseudonym DR3AD. He hopes that DNA hires him to produce some songs for Misfits and his buddy some time. (fc: Kim Yonghyun)

zhou lei Facing off as handsome debutees in the asian games in 2014, they became rivals, and a lot of buzz was created around them, especially to lure in the ladies. It reminded them a lot of mnet and their shenanigans on survival shows. Zhou Lei is a superstar Chinese gymnast who is still going strong by this day, but was beaten by Dohyun back then on both the still rings and the floor exercise. He was not happy about that, but even though they are rivals, they can also share their friendly moments, and Lei has shown his support to Dohyun when he was retiring and also with his debuting news. Dohyun sees Lei like a friend, but Lei is a total tsundere over him, always in denial, but whenever Dohyun comes to China, Lei will be there, 'coincidentally'. (fc: Ding Zeren)

moriyama rikuto Getting these two to talk was a rocky road full of obstacles. Rikuto is this loud child that is quite unpredictable and... planetary? I mean... mercurial? Mercury? What does that mean? I can feel my English skills leaving me rn its almost 1am and I worked the late shift HAHA-- well yeah the summary is that this Rikuto kid was messing with Dohyun's strict plans and routines all the time and Dohyun no likey. So it took a very long time for Dohyun to start trusting this guy. And because Dohyun didn't show any likes towards Rikuto, he started acting aloof towards Dohyun too. It was a mess. But they were able to move past that stage after like three ing years goddamn you dramatic kids

dong nara & kim bora While these two big boss noonas are THIS close to just leashing Dohyun and keeping him under supervision at all times, they love this boy. He's their little gem that is going to give Misfits an initial boost of marketing. Once he showed his face on that audition, they (especially Bora the marketing queen) knew that they needed him in the group. Dohyun is also very fond of the two, and is extremely happy that they were willing to give him this opportunity. Since Dohyun is not used to the idol world at all, he has often gone to Nara and/or Bora for advice, which they happily give to him. Usually he's quite shy around Nara despite being friendly, but he's literally always bickering with Bora like siblings. They're fun, Dohyun is very excited to have boss sisters like these two. And they are also proud like a mother of Dohyun, I'm pretty sure they have showed his gymnastics performances to literally everyone they know, gushing about how proud they are to have a star like him in THEIR team.

nishi Nishi still remembers very vividly how they met. One day, he heard that there was a new trainee and he walked in, like normal, telling the trainees to start their stretches while shuffling to his corner to put his stuff down. When he laid his eyes upon that new trainee he heard about, he straight up dropped his bag. Yoon Dohyun? Yoon Dohyun the gymnast?? OLYMPIAN?? And he would have to teach that guy?? To be honest, Nishi felt a little intimidated at first because of Dohyun's stardom, but that didn't last long. Once Nishi saw how excited and determined Dohyun was during his classes, his fear melted like snow in the sun. Now they are quite close and Dohyun is a sweet hyung for Nishi, because he focuses on dance a lot. Dohyun finds him absolutely adorable.

Jaegyu has always been into sports, becoming an athlete was her dream. Unfortunately her career got cut short. Just like Dohyun, she still needs to practice sports to lose her overflowing amount of energy, and when she doesn't, she'll get really hyper and that's a serious pain to the people around her, so they have learnt to make sure to make her do some active stuff every day. It seems like she was made for sports, and is unexpectedly good at most of them or picks them up very quickly. Since her injury on her right arm, she has switched to become a left-handed in sports and ambidextrous in general, but she's still right-legged.

Jaegyu is a little dorky girl. She has a really good sense of humor and either disgusts people or makes them laugh with her jokes. She is also always the first one to open up to other people, which might get her into trouble as people who mean no good can easily infiltrate her life without her even noticing. This is why her brother watches so closely over her. She just loves being around friends, so it's really saddening when she gets taken disadvantage of just because she wants to have a chat.

Jaegyu has a very silly sense of humor and loves to crack jokes when she is able to. She wants to make everyone laugh and goes far to actually do so. This is why she can become obnoxious to some people, she really tries too hard sometimes to make the people she likes laugh, and it can be quite annoying when you got a little Jaegyu clinging to you, constantly derping and making the lamest jokes. Someone stop her.

Jaegyu and Dohyun have known each other for pretty much as long as they can remember. Jaegyu, while dragging along Jaewook, of course, made her way into Dohyun's life when they were just in kindergarten. She was a wild child and basically forced the shy kid to be friends with her, but Dohyun didn't mind at all. They became the best of friends throughout elementary school and would end up joining the gymnastics club together.

Honestly, there was nothing romantic involved for a very long time. They were just best buddies, having a good time, growing in gymnastics together... They were stuck together by the hip in this career, even if they didn't try to. They were selected for every big tournament together. Soon enough, dating rumours started to surround them because of how much time they spent together. But they didn't care, Jaegyu would always say that they were just besties since they were toddlers.

The crush, at least for Dohyun, only arrived when they were in Rio in 2016. When he told Jaegyu that he will retire if he got an olympic medal, Jaegyu became noticeably sad. She wasn't her usual cheerful self during the olympics, she was still cheerful of course but there was something much different about her. She feared that she might lose him and have to go on doing gymnastics without the guy that had been by her side all this time. This moved something in Dohyun, and slowly he developed feelings on that trip to Rio. The crush kept growing and growing, very slowly, but he knew that something had changed in his heart.

Jaegyu however didn't have any romantic feelings at that moment. She was just so used to having Dohyun around that she didn't know what she'd do if she had to compete without him on the sidelines cheering for her. But her career without Dohyun didn't last long. When Dohyun was attending one of her trainings in 2018, something terrible happened. Jaegyu, without having Dohyun to lift her up, had suffered mentally with pressure building up on her. It ended up in her messing up during training, missing the bar, falling down and breaking her arm. Her arm and elbow were completely in shambles from an unlucky landing. It was career ruining. Dohyun had witnessed it all and was completely terrified, rushing for her help. Jaegyu's career was over, she would never be able to reach such a high level in gymnastics again. It was devastating for her. Dohyun was always there for her, often missing training and disappearing from the dorm to go care for Jaegyu and offer her some support.

But Jaegyu still doesn't have any romantic feelings for him... Or does she?

last words Ok so somehow his backstory turned into an essay and his relationship section turned into sleep deprived me losing her mind-- I hope you like this boy though! Dohyun was one of my very first characters and since his fc has finally made his debut I thought I should bring him back! Actually, Dohyun was the source of the creation of the Song twins. Originally, Jaegyu was just Dohyun genderbended and I threw Fly in for good measure. The story of the injury and such was originally his, but I changed it up. Ever since I created Jaegyu, Dohyun was always around in her apps as best friend but I kinda forgot that he was the original? Actually I wouldnt be surprised if he joined a survival show himself just with the goal of winning it and then achieving #1 with that group too. He might also set his eyes on achieving a prestigious degree in seoul national university, for example.
