☁ YI HYEON (李賢) ; his original name, preceding the modernized name 'lee yeonghyeon'. the family name he chose to adopt, yi, was a tribute to his bond with the first human to leave a significant impact on him. it also serves as tribute to her bloodline, as yeonghyeon came to become a protector and companion to many of her descendants.
 

☁ KING OF SPOILERS ; he has a habit of dropping comeback or schedule spoilers so there's a running joke that he needs to be supervised in every vlive and variety show appearance. then again, people joke that yeonghyeon should always be supervised for everyone's peace of mind, but especially so to prevent him from accidentally revealing too much.

☁ CONMAN / INSTIGATOR / TROLL HYEON ; despite his generally laidback nature, yeonghyeon is very mischievous and enjoys initiating and watching chaos from the sidelines, the latter most evident when playing games like mafia and monopoly. he has no qualms about striking up sketchy deals and cheating during games ("if you distract xiao-hyung, i'll steal from the bank and split with you 50-50") or even betraying his alliances in the classic rip-the-name-tag-off match ("so i told daeseong i'd team up with him but if you buy me coffee for the next three days, i will reconsider my options"), but ultimately it's more for the sake of entertainment than for winning. even fans who bias yeonghyeon have a fun love-hate relationship with him but at the end of the day, it's all for laughs and everyone knows he means no harm.

☁ BABY FOX ; yeonghyeon needs lots of rest in general so people endearingly call him this whenever he gets visibly sleepy, tired, or just looks very cute and soft. 

☁ GRANDPA ; a complete contradiction to the previous nickname. it refers to his technical age, having lived for over a hundred years despite his young appearance. yeonghyeon's still learning about slang and technology and though he's not completely outdated, fans still call him a hag for jokes. 
 

☁ KOREAN (NATIVE) ;  his mother tongue. yeonghyeon's love for literature also makes him extremely proficient in understanding the technical aspects of the language, in addition to its portrayal in mediums like poetry. but, because he's spent most of his life in rural towns and villages, yeonghyeon's a bit slow on learning modern slang. the members and fans constantly clown him for this (affectionately... he thinks).  

☁ ENGLISH (BASIC) ; the company makes him learn english but there's a very, very big learning curve for him to adjust to. he understands basic conversation terms and commonly used english words, but ask him anything else and his mind will visibly lag.

☁ FOX BEAD ; yeonghyeon's fox bead is the source of his life force. like all gumihos, he can extend his lifespan by feeding off the 'energy' of other beings, humans and supernatural creatures alike. there are numerous methods of achieving this, though yeonghyeon prefers the least... gruesome way, albeit more risky to him. this method resembles a 'deep kiss' in which the gumiho transfers the fox bead into another individual's mouth before reclaiming it,  absorbing some amount of the person's life energy in the process.

this method is particularly risky because anyone who knows of the gumiho's identity and wishes to take advantage of them can essentially steal the bead by swallowing it. folktales about gumihos say that swallowing a fox bead allows the individual to gain a 'deep understanding of the heavens and earth'; essentially, this means that stealing a gumiho's fox bead allows the person to gain immense knowledge of nature accrued by the gumiho throughout their life, granting the individual the ability to perceive nature 'in the eyes of the gumiho' beyond the typical human senses. it's believed that many of whom have successfully stolen a fox bead have gone on to become renowned artists, authors, and scientists -- sometimes at the expense of the gumiho's life, if their bead was never returned. 

☁  FORM SHIFTING ; gumihos have the ability to transform from fox to human, though the duration and completeness of their human form (ie. whether they retain distinctly foxy features or must hide their tails) depend on the gumiho's lifespan and power. having lived over a century with his own methods of obtaining life energy, yeonghyeon can now maintain a 'fully' human appearance with relatively little strain, though this likely comes at the cost of needing ample rest and sleep.

☁  NINE TAILS ;   of course, his most distinctive feature. yeonghyeon's tails are snowy white and resemble the fur color of his fox form. they're also relatively bushy and can extend to be a magnificent two meters long, though he almost always keeps them retracted throughout the day especially in public.

☁  because the fox bead essentially contains his life force, losing it will continuously weaken yeonghyeon as time goes on and potentially lead to death. the effects of losing his fox bead can be alleviated if he remains physically close to its new 'host', but he must eventually retrieve it if he wishes to evade death. 

☁  if yeonghyeon wants to display his tails, he has to simultaneously extend all nine of them; there's no way of showing only two or three at once, so in a way it works in an all-or-none process. 

☁  in the dorms, yeonghyeon may extend his tails for numerous reasons. someone just returned from the grocery store and needs help carrying the bags? easy, just use his tails. laying down and needs to retrieve an item without getting up? tails it is. craving attention or just wanting to annoy the hell out of another member? hell yeah, whack em with a tail. 

☁  his tails are also quite fluffy and soft, so he loves bringing them out at night to make a bed and blanket for himself before sleeping. yeonghyeon doesn't mind sharing with the other members either; if someone wants to snuggle during a movie or nap with him in the living room, he'll happily share.
