aiden lee has always been someone who has acted out as a supporting character rather than the protagonist. it's hard for him to assert what he wants, hard for him to carve out his own fate. majoring in film studies was the first taste of independence that he could get, but the guilt still weighs him down. there are so many other fields that could help my parents. he thinks as he types out another essay. what good is this? he's a family man, feeling a supreme amount of devotion to his parents, while grappling with the idea that his dad truly wants him to make his own life away from expectations.
he has a difficult time with friendships because of his reluctance to put himself out there. he tends to cling to the wall, busying himself with his phone rather than actually engaging with people at social gatherings. even in established friendships, aiden can't bring himself to open up to other people. it takes a lot of coaxing and good degree of comfort between him and the other person to feel as though he has the space to do so--which also drastically impacts his ability to communicate with others. aiden typically believes that the other person is probably right and knows more than him, and thus just goes with what they want or stays silent.

BACKGROUND
grew up in presidio heights with an anesthesiologist mother and family practice doctor father. he was always raised comfortably, with his father encouraging his creative pursuits. aiden never really had to ever think about what he was doing or what he would be doing, exploring all avenues and outlets as a child and finding a comfort in film.
while his mother is a bit disappointed in the fact that he hasn't chosen to go into the medical field, she can't really complain when aiden's father is a humongous support toward his goals. his father is at every recital, every performance, every demonstration of aiden's capabilities as a creative. for that, aiden is remarkably thankful, but also tremendously guilty.

COLLEGE LIFE
as a student.
aiden is a very good student, a product of wanting to make his parents proud as a kid. he gets a majority of a's with a couple of b's for classes that he doesn't want to exert too much effort towards--though a lot of his classes weren't all that difficult comparatively. he typically aims for a 95% minimum in all of his classes. he's the student that gets to class 20 minutes early and has already done the materials in advance. people go to him for homework answers and he'll help them as much as he can.

aiden is a member of kasa and mainly just lurks around as a general body member. he's lowkey eyeing an executive position for his senior year, but he's not quite sure he has the drive to actually put himself out there quite yet. aiden is also a member of sanfran9 (sf9 for short), the resident all-male kpop dance group. he has practices with them 3 nights a week, typically between 7-9. he films the occasional video cover with them as well as doing performances around campus.

aiden lives in a studio apartment that's about a 10 minute drive away from campus. he lives modestly, not having a lot of furnishings or accents. when he's at home, he typically messes around on smash or hearthstone, or edits videos of memories he has, doing homework for the majority of his nights and poring over his materials for the upcoming classes. yeah.. you could really say that aiden is a pretty boring individual.

THE SETTING : SF9 PRACTICE

leo's pressed up against the dance room mirror, hands trying to stay as steady as possible despite his whole body shaking with the bass from the nearby speakers. he'll have to add the commentary on in post...his voice will completely get swallowed up by the music. the lack of commentary is just fine anyway, since his eyes are mainly glued upon aiden's body jumping through formations, sneakers squeaking along the floors.
aiden had offered to allow him into one of sf9's practices, suggesting it as a possible look into senior year antics. when leo had quickly accepted, aiden seemed almost surprised, sheepishly telling him the practice time and location. leo had been over the moon to see sf9's practices behind the scenes, away from the lights and sound and hundreds of girls screaming all around him. there was something almost... magical about seeing it before it was put to the stage.
when they finally finished their run, most of the group collapsed down upon the floor. aiden, however, wobbled over to leo and threw a shaky peace sign for the camera.
"h-how was it?" aiden manages between wheezes, dabbing at his sweaty forehead with the back of his hand.
"amazing," leo says, quickly offering up aiden his bottle of water. "you did really, really well."
"really?" aiden laughs a bit, quickly unscrewing the lid of the bottle. "thank you, that means a lot."
"i'm sure juno will be super excited to see this footage," leo wiggles his eyebrows at aiden. "maybe she'll realize how cool you are?"
"nah, i think it'll take a bit more than some sweaty guys dancing to kpop," aiden grins. "she's got high standards...i don't blame her."
leo continues to chatter on about the dance practice, with aiden slowly catching his breath, between the lines of conversation. leo's camera is barely even capturing any of the subjects, slowly lowering to just show an eventful shot of the floor. aiden quietly nudges his hands up, not missing a beat in the conversation, and gesturing to leo to keep his head up. leo instead pans the video to get a high-def shot of aiden's still shining face.
"so tell us, aiden," leo says, suddenly putting on a reporter-type tone. "how do you feel about your practice?"
"i think that we worked really hard, and we'll be ready for the culture show...soon!" aiden runs a few fingers through his damp hair. "i hope you will continue to support sf9 this year..."
"everyone knows aiden lee is gonna be the number 1 star this year," leo says, zooming into aiden's eyes. "what do you have to say to your new fans?"
"uh..." aiden says lamely, competely at a loss. "uhm... uh... hello....?"
leo laughs, turning off the camera and patting aiden on the back jovially. aiden laughs along with him, snickering over his lack of eloquence--but mostly over leo's supreme reaction to it.
"thank you for coming, leo," adrian says as leo slowly comes down. "i really really appreciate it."
"it's no problem, bro," leo puffs up his chest. "i love getting the insider information."

leo and aiden meet in a film studies intro course the tail end of aiden's freshman year. leo had approached aiden first, following the first few class discussions where aiden appeared to have a similar love for the art of film that leo had. leo had approached him after that class, gushing on about movies and eagerly asking aiden to catch lunch with him right now! aiden, being a bright-eyed freshman in need of friends, quickly accepted and followed.
