gyumi, tired of her shallow life along with her father treating her cruelly, decided to run away to seoul in search of freedom and independence, nearly sliding off the ferry en route. she was saved, however. once she got to seoul, she found herself living her a NEET against the high living cost in seoul, and soon became broke and falls into isolation, or also known as hikikomori in japan, following the other 100.000 people in korea. however, she finally managed to get a job as a worker in cybercafe and allowed to stay there for free and get free food as well. with the money she got and a little help from the cybercafe's owner, she went to college. she called her parents for the first time when she was about to graduate, they came and her father promised to change if she come back to simdong. it took a year for her before decided to back to simdong... and she realized something was off.

APPEARANCE gyumi's overall is a pretty average korean girl. gyumi's most noticeable feature is her long, wavy hair that currently dyed into dark brown color that is usually tied up in a ponytail. she has golden amber eyes. though she may not seem it at a glance, gyumi is packed with lean and toned muscle. no tatts, two piercings on each ears.
STYLE the turtle neck crop top being layered with the jean bustier thing. the stripey stripe fringe jacket and the look being neutralized with a highwaisted jeans. seems odd for small town style? but off farm, that's what she wears, on farm, she'll let herself wear that lame t-shirt along with ahjumma pants.

gyumi is a courageous girl and irrational at the same time. which plays a contributing factor that seals her determination for going to seoul. before leaving her homeland for seoul, she have been going through a rebellious phase, which is one reason she ran away. when she came there, she felt very lost and hopeless until she met yugyeong. out of everyone in her life, she cares very much for her, especially since yugyeong's treatment of her is humane, a direct contrast to that of her father and everyone else.
gyumi eventually matured out of her phase during her life in seoul, as her parents had softened up and she became a successful student with new friends.
her mother ever said that her daughter is actually someone who feels things very intensely. well, it isn't 100% wrong. gyumi is a person who just wants everyone to be happy. unfortunately, she has a bit of an outlook at the moment, her idea of what 'happy' should look like is extremely black and white. gyumi also has always been a very imaginative person, and therefore it's easy for her to think outside of the box and do whatever she wants.
she doesn't mind asking other people to do things for her, sometimes because she's too comfortable in her position. that being said, it's not like gyumi is technically taking advantage of anyone. she normally doesn't ask for much anyways, just something like turn off the lights. well, she doesn't always like people doing things for her. she just doesn't like to move if she can get away with it.
because of what her father done to her all these times, she has committal issues. she can't trust anyone easily after being hurt by someone who supposed to protect her.
BACKGROUND gyumi was born to a farmer family on the small town named simdong, located on the west coast of south korea. in her teen years, she was going through a rebellious phase. it was because her relationship with her father was strained; he physically abused her. gyumi also felt that her father were 'chaining her down'.
after graduated highschool, gyumi, tired with her shallow lifestyle as well as the stiffling environment of her hometown, decided to run away to seoul. on the trip, she almost got thrown off a ferry when a freak rainstorm hit it. however, she was saved by a woman. this woman gave her a phone number in case she ever need help as they depart the ferry. in seoul, gyumi struggled to support herself because she was unable to work legally due to her status as a runaway minor. she spent a few nights at a jjimjilbang (public bathhouse) for cost saving as she asked online for job opportunities, but was ultimately unable to find a position anywhere and thus decided to save her money by staying on the streets.
one night, while taking shelter in the doorway of a mcdonald's lobby, gyumi met a stray cat who she fed, recognizing that she and the animal were in similar situations. after passing out there, she was awoken by the mcd's worker, who kicked her out and sent her crashing into a trash can that spilled garbage everywhere. there, a paper with the mysterious woman's phone number on her pants pocket fell off.
the next day, gyumi contacted the woman and told her about her story, her real reason to leave simdong. later gyumi was hired as a worker to the woman's cyber cafe. the woman also let her stay there for free and offered her to pay for her tuition in university. she work dilligently there and after a year, she was accepted in the college with ecology major. deep down inside her heart, there was still a bit of intention to help her parents' farm.
on a rainy day, gyumi watched as yugyeong reading a brochure about simdong. she recognized her as the daughter of tea shop's owner which her parents always sell their tea to. she quickly ran to her and greet her. not expecting she would recognize her right away though since the two were rarely interact. but surprisingly, yugyeong recognized her and told her about how panic gyumi parents' were when she left the town without saying anything. even until that time, gyumi parents' were still looking for her. yugyeong chided gyumi for running away. she criticized her impulsive behaviour. but seeing that gyumi already recognized her mistake, yugyeong became softened. that was the start of their friendship.
though gyumi still afraid of her dad, she determined to finish her college with excellent score and she did. after years she called her parents and invited them to her graduation. as a surprise, her father didn't scold her nor hit her like he used to do. instead, he said that he miss her and ask her to back to simdong. at first, gyumi refused the offer. she got a job as a real state agent but somehow her life wasn't getting better. thus she finally decided to back to her hometown and help her family's farm.
LIFESTYLE after finishing college and though she graduated from ecology major, she worked as a real estate agent for a year. well, that was the best job she could get at that time. she lived in a super small flat alone so she won't have to spend much money.
not much of a morning person, fortunately her job didn't require her to go to the office early in the morning. she can go to the office whenever she want as long as she get them customers. she'll be up and running by nine o'clock. she'll go around town as she looks for some potential buyers and bring them to the houses she sell. mostly spending her free time at a small resto near the office and buy baekban with her fellow workers so they could share the food. during the night, she is either catching up on sleep or sits on the couch planning on what she have to do in the next day. on weekend, she can be found at a pojangmacha alone, contemplating about her life.
when she back to simdong, of course she'll back to her old house and live with her parents. just like what her father said on her graduation, her father is now much more softer to her and never abuse her anymore. she actually planned on having a short vacation but after meeting her parents and realized that her parents were old enough to taking care of the field, she started to thing maybe it's her time to take over her parents' job. well, her life in the capital city isn't as good as she thought though. at least in simdong she didn't have to pay the rent fee, get free food from her mom (which is the best food she ever had) and she could use the things she got from college.

her father physically and emotionally abused her for an uncounted number of times. for gyumi, she felt 'chained down' by her father as he was strict, domineering, and controlling towards her. however after she ran away then met again with her parents during her college graduation, her parents asked her back. you can say her mother and father redeemed themselves during her absence. her mother wasn't as bad as her father, though. but as she scared of her husband, she couldn't do much to stand up for her daughter. when she got back in simdong, somehow she felt like her parents always act in awkwardly but warmly manner. weird.
'brother' - kim younghoon (25) / conservation scientist
younghoon is something of an older brother figure to gyumi. gyumi listens carefully to younghoon's advice about what she should do in life, is it better for her to stay in simdong or back to simdong and help her parents taking care of their farm. ever since their first met in college, gyumi has always been respect him so much that she affectionately calls younghoon 'oppa'. even after gyumi moved to simdong, the two still text each other. younghoon is like the best place for gyumi to ask advice about everything.
twin brother - jung yuno (24) / tea farmer
yuno is gyumi's other half. they did everything together to the point that gyumi fully expected that they would die together one day. she asked yuno to go with her to seoul. but though they are twins, yuno is gyumi's complete contrary. he is not rebel and though abused by their father a lot, yuno chose to stay. during her times in seoul, gyumi tried to dwell on the happy times they had together rather than the gaping hole in her life without him. sometimes she wondered, maybe if she follows what yuno say and stay, she wouldn't ended up in trouble like what she had in seoul. but still, she never regret the decision she made, she's a free spirit after all. when she back to simdong, her and yuno wasn't as close as they was. it just hard for her to approach yuno. she thought it might because yuno was disappointed for her decision in the past. but... was it true?
best friend - ji changmin (24) / tea farmer
changmin is undoubtedly gyumi's best friend in simdong. even as a younger teen, he wasn't always the easiest person to approach. but that didn't bother gyumi in the slightest. that's because she saw changmin's hidden pure heart. changmin is, by far, the person who rarely refuses gyumi's request for help. exception was when gyumi asked him to help her run away to seoul. though he isn't as obedient as yuno, he thought it was a bad idea. now after gyumi back, they still get along extremely well like they were in the past. though somehow gyumi felt like changmin hiding something from her.
friend - im yugyeong (22) / tea shop's worker
gyumi first meet yugyeong when they bumped each other on seoul's street. though she already get a job and went to college at that time, she still felt lost. yugyeong as someone who came from the same homeland, was the one who made her felt like 'found'. they got along quite well. they eventually go through their day in seoul together. to her, though, yugyeong migh not the trustworthy brother like younghoon, not a soulmate like yuno, nor the best buddy like changmin. but still, yugyeong was one that shaped her into jung gyumi today.
