peanut, what did i tell you about leaving mr. bell pepper alone? yes, exactly—follow what stitch said. "ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind." even if it's one small piece of bell pepper on your plate.

APPEARANCE
because of his job as an HCP, he avoided having any ink on his body and have any piercings. he's not particularly against people who has tattoos or piercings, he just doesn't want to deal with patients commenting about it if ever he has one

STYLE
he has his own PT uniform, all clad in white from top to bottom. even his shoes are white, which is kinda odd since he can be mistaken as a nurse for their reputation on having an all-white uniform as well

for regular clothes, he prefers something classy and professional such as button-up shirts and long sleeves whilst paired with slacks. bomi thought that he looks her teachers in her school because of the way he dresses, but also knows that it's what fits her dad best. it's only at home she sees him wear nothing but a simple shirt and shorts that reaches his knees thought

the positives.
sincere, empathetic, passionate, patient, determined

the negatives.
strict, judgmental, hypocrite, meticulous, prideful
for the lack of better term, bogum is what most people find a bit on both ends of the 'good and bad' spectrum. he's just as strict as he is sincere, but sometimes that strictness oozes a bit too much due to how much he was disciplined back when he was a child. he has his own reasons for being strict, though it was better suited for teenagers rather than a 7-year old daughter. despite his strictness however, he can be empathetic. he's both a father and a mother towards his daughter, so it only made sense for him to be a bit lenient if needed, and feel empathic to her feelings as a child. one circumstance to describe these is when bomi wants to stay up late despite having school the next day. bogum, who didn't experienced to watch any cartoons during his childhood due to his family's financial problems, didn't want to deprive his daughter from that; but, he also doesn't want her to sleep way past bedtime because that'll only break her seemingly consistent rule of sleeping before 9pm. and so, he made a deal with bomi that while she needs to sleep at 9pm, he'll get off work early so that by the time it's already bomi's dismissal in class then he gets to fetch her and play at the park near their small yet cozy home. but sometimes there's no deal being made especially when bomi thought it was okay to have that deal for consecutive days. being a healthcare professional meant that she's not the only one her father's taking care of, yet at that time she was too young to understand that and so bogum had to put his foot down.

with his line of work, patients and HCPs combined can see the passion in bogum whenever he does his job. you can see how much he cares, and how much he takes his job seriously, so most often than not he'll get to see patients he worked with in the past to have him as their Physical Therapist again. despite the hectic schedule he has and sometimes feeling pain whenever he gets lesser time spent on bomi, he doesn't regret anything at all. he even gets to apply his strictness to his patients because he knows majority of them doesn't particularly enjoy that side of them, yet knew it's what they truly needed.

he's not really ashamed of how judgmental he is. he believes that "first impressions matter" kind of belief because most of them comes in handy, and he knew that first impressions tend to show a lot about the person. he has his own way of dealing with it, since he prefers to see them without them knowing he's even present in the first place. he's aware that there are some moments a person gets vulnerable, and he prefers to find that kind of first impression from strangers. it also applies when it comes to problems; as more often than not, he judges the person immediately just from the story he hears (whether it's from someone else, or the person themselves). he tends to become quite a hypocrite though when he's on the receiving end. there are also moments when he becomes quite a hypocritical father towards bomi, such as telling her to eat bell peppers since it's healthy while bomi can see him not eating any cauliflower even when they both know it's also healthy.

as a HCP, he also developed the ability to further lengthen his patience, and that seems to be a benefit for his daughter as well. there are some patients who're stubborn (and sometimes, even rude), yet not once he felt the need to yell or snap. even with bomi's education, he finds the time to teach the subjects his daughter's having a hard time in and lets her think instead of giving way the answer. sometimes though, despite the patience he has, he's also just as meticulous. he had the habit to be overly meticulous of things, even the simplest ones, and it doesn't help that not only is he strict with others, he ends up to be strict to himself too. putting two and two together, some people find him stressful because of it. he has great attention to details and so his perfectionist side ends up making him redo them again, especially when it comes to cooking. he's a stickler for rules and instructions by default, so he gets extremely upset if things doesn't go his way despite following what he's supposed to do. he doesn't stray away from the rules and instructions given to him, and he gets annoyed whenever someone doesn't follow them. of course, bomi gets to experience that side of him as well.

when bogum thought that he would be the only one who'll take care of bomi, he was determined to keep anyone from getting to close. his determination to make sure that bomi would not once feel the pain of being left behind the same way bogum felt when bomi's biological mother did made him overprotective of bomi and himself. he's bent on acting as both parents to her, and at the same time not relying on anyone other than himself. of course, as the only parent-figure in bomi's life, he swore to never show his vulnerability to her since he doesn't want her to think that he's weak. he has his pride as a man, and he hates to see himself cry over something as simple as stress. even when he makes mistakes, he doesn't apologize easily to anyone he hates to apoligizing only because he feels weak whenever he makes mistakes and others point it out on him. he is, however, not like that towards bomi as she is an exception.

to bogum, bomi would always be an exception to him.

01.
kim bogum grew up in a slightly average family who's facing a bit of a financial problem back then. their house is enough for a three-member family, but facing enjoyment such as going to amusement parks or shopping was not a part of their lives. at such a young age, bogum grew up knowing the harsh reality he's facing, and how some people gets to live a happy life with no problems when it comes to money.

it a sense, it's a double-edged sword for him. despite how he never gets to relate to his friends about how their parents bought playstations or car toys because he has none to begin with, he was thankful to not end up getting spoiled (as he often witnessed from his kindergarden friends). he learned to become independent, learning how to cook at a young age and even help his parents when it comes to doing chores.

it didn't matter to him that his life wasn't as bright and carefree as others have, because no matter what, watching in a small televesion box on friday night with his parents while eating ramen was enough for him.

he thought his parents disciplined him well enough for him to prioritize school above all else. he managed to get a scholarship in highschool whilst juggling between his education and work in order to help his parents pay their debts and at least contribute when it comes to paying household bills. even if his parents were against it and only wanted him to strictly focus on studying, his heart couldn't bear to see his parents work hard while he only studies.

reluctantly, they accepted as long as he wants it. nothing changes if bogum quits his job because despite being financially unstable, his parents aren't exactly "working forcefully just to pay the bills". he particularly remembered the tired, yet genuine smiles they gave him as they said that while their jobs are not blue-collared types or that their salaries aren't exactly high like what his friends' parents have, they love what their doing. it left a great impression on bogum, and he continued living as a highschool student with a light heart even as he multitasks his way to graduation.

and that's how kim bogum graduated highschool as a salutatorian, one who's known to be a part-time waiter at the local cafe just across their school.

note: although most jobs don't accept highschool students to work, the cafe was owned by his mother's cousin so she was lenient in letting bogum work there.

bogum never chose Physical Therapy as a course because of the high salary it has. it was just in his nature to help people whenever he can. his strict personality seemed to be a good tactic as well when it comes to dealing with patients who are particularly stubborn in listening to therapists.

he learned to use that when he's already in his last year in college, entering internship. at that time he started college, he moved out of ilsan and lived in a small apartment in seoul near his university (no tuition needed as he managed to get a scholarship whilst the money he earned back in highschool was used to rent the cheap apartment because apparently, his parents saved it instead of using to pay the bills like he initially planned). 4 years went by in a blur before he met kwon seirah, a patient assigned to him during his internship.

it was like love at first sight for him. it was a bit of a clichè moment, with seirah shyly introducing herself whilst bogum stared at her as if she's an angel sent from the heavens. at that time, she suffered from a humeral fracture from a staircase accident and he was assigned to her together with a licensed PT guiding him and teaching him the wraps.

throughout seirah's rehabilitation, bogum grew to love the girl more than he should. but he knew that they were never meant to be since seirah was steadily dating someone. regardless of his feelings, he remained to be a good friend to her; even staying in contact with each other despite seirah's rehab already finished.

they're not really at the same university, since bogum's studying at a medical specialized university whilst seirah's in a more general type. nonetheless, they found time to hang out with each other. at some point, they consider each other as bestfriends and seirah never get to know bogum's feelings for her simply because bogum was too good at hiding it.

2 years already passed since then. bogum finally finished his degree, passed the licensed board exams, already working in a famous hospital in seoul, and decided to also continue his education by taking master's (and soon, doctorate) by taking into consideration any opportunities that he might be able to work abroad.

it was also 2 years when seirah knocked frantically in his apartment door one saturday afternoon, bringing in the news that she's pregnant and how her boyfriend (yes, the exact same boyfriend he met 2 years ago) left her because of it. bogum couldn't even begin to describe how much it pains him to see the love of his life crying in his arms.

"what am i supposed to do, bogum? h-he left me.. we've been together for 6 years already. did my pregnancy scared him? or was i just not loveable anymore?"

"shh," bogum whispered whilst combing her hair in comfort. she was cradled in his arms, ignoring the fact that they're at the entrance of his apartment (at least not in the hallway). "you're still loveable, sei. he's just being an ."

"b-but what about the baby? i can't do this alone... i could never- maybe i should abort it-"

"no," bogum said firmly. he's against the idea of abortion, no matter how logical it is. and even if he's a HCP now, there's just no way he's going to leave something precious as life to disappear. "i can help you take care of them."

"w-what? why would you even do that?" seirah sniffled and looked at him in confusion. "you're not even the father of the baby."

"blood doesn't matter to me. it's your child, seirah. i'm more than willing to take care of them even if i'm not the biological father."

really, he doesn't mind at all. he ached to become seirah's lover, yes, but she doesn't see him any more than just her bestfriend. and with that, he chose to remain quiet about it even if he told her he's going to help her take care of the baby.
05.
05.
if anyone would look at the two of them from an outsider's perspective, they would've been mistaken as a married couple. bogum did nothing but doted and spoiled seirah during her pregnancy. he asked seirah to move in with him ("we're kinda like roommates if you think about it"). he was there when she broke the news to her parents. despite the disappointment in their faces, they were all glad hat bogum was there to help her.

as for bogum's parents, they gave him questionable looks before congratulating sierah despite the circumstance she's in. of course they talked to bogum about it, curious but also confused as to why he's so willing to help her when he's not the actual father—and they're not even dating to begin with. bogum just told them that he loves her, and that was enough for them to understand (though his dad commented that he should still confess, and of course bogum rejected that idea).

he was even able to apply his strictness to her; such as preventing her from drinking alcohol or even eating junkfood (she was forced to eat something healthy because she just knows that she wouldn't be able to escape him). in all honesty, bogum acted like a real husband and dad. sure, the stress was there since he has to juggle between work, his masteral, and taking care of seirah, but it was all worth it for him when bomi was born. and it was such a coincidence that she was born on christmas out of all the holidays.

she may not be his biological daughter, but he loved her as if she is. he was happy, to say the least. and he thought that seirah felt the same.

but it wasn't.

months after bomi was borned, bogum began to notice the change in seirah's behavior. she's starting to smile less, her usual enthusiastic personality that bogum fell for was slowly deteriorating, and she began to interact with her daughter as if she was forced to do so.

"are you okay?"

"i'm fine."

"do you want me to put her to sleep instead?"

"yeah... yes, please."

there was tiredness in her voice, and it greatly worries him. no matter how much he asks, she just wasn't saying anything. he's worried that she might break down at some random moment, but he trusts her that she'll tell him what's bothering her.

it was then a wednesday night when bogum came home to an empty apartment. well, at least he thought he was. he could definitely hear bomi's gurgles in seirah's room where her crib is, but the lights are off, which bogum started to fear for the worst. he frantically called for seirah, hearing nothing, and when he went inside his own room, he saw the note.

bogum, i'm sorry. she reminds me too much of him. i can't take care of bomi alone. at some point, i know you'll meet the love of your life and have a family on your own, and i can't imagine my life raising her without you. i'm really sorry. i leave her in your care. i hope you'll meet someone good to you. thank you for all the months you've taken care of me.

bogum thought that unrequited love was the most painful thing. now he realized that this is the most excruciating one.
TRIVIAS
― he found out about the single parents club when one of the parents in bomi's kindergarden suggested it to him. at first he was offended, since he could take care of his daughter by himself and doesn't need some moral support from some "club", but changed his mind when 4 year old bomi convinced her to join (by saying "appa, you need more fwends")
― bomi doesn't like bell pepper, bogum doesn't like caulliflower. despite that though, he tries to teach bomi to never be picky with food even if he, himself, is
― bomi's bedtime is at 9pm sharp since her classes starts at 8am
― bomi was 9 months old when seirah left, and she's 2 when bogum told her the truth. bogum believed that there's really no right time for him to tell her, so he decided that it's better to say it now because he knows that if he said it by the time bomi's already old enough to really understand (and perhaps rebel against him), it'll be hard to manage
― bogum at tying her hair. bomi often comments that her dad's masterpiece looked like weeds sticking out of her head
― bogum decided to turn seirah's room into bomi's nursery (then bedroom when she got older) and threw away all the stuff seirah left behind
― she still had lingering feelings for seirah, even if what she did felt like he was stabbed, but his feelings are not strong enough as before
― because of his work, bomi has to stay with the trusted bodyguards of her school while waiting for him since most times he can't get off work early
― he's working at asan medical center, which is actually the top ranking hospital in seoul
― he's a matcha enthusiast, which bomi seem to pick up on
― bogum has his own way of talking to bomi when she was a toddler. he often talks in third person which made bomi to also talk the same way
― for some odd reason, bogum also ended up talking to her as if she's an adult when she turned 6. it's as if she had a maturation spurt or something
― bogum often cooks rice omelette for bomi ever since he made it for her for the first time. since then, it became bomi's go-to breakfast
― he still has yet to figure out what he's going to do if he ever comes across a situation where he would end up seeing seirah
― he's really strict to bomi's bedtime, and he'll often read her bedtime stories
― bomi sleeps in his bedroom until she was 5 and after that she announced to him that she's going to start sleeping in her bedroom alone (bogum felt himself tearing up as he watched bomi with pride as she padded towards the bedroom with a serious and determined look on her face)
― he tries his best to be both a disciplinarian and a fun dad because he knows a child needed that
― he graduated his bachelor's at the age of 21 (2012), finished master's at 24 (2016), and currently finishing his doctorate at 30 (2021)
― when he finished his master's, he took a break for 2 years before deciding to take his doctorate 2019 (27 years old)
― when bogum's parents found out that he's going to keep bomi despite not being her biological father, they supported him and sees bomi as if she's their biological granddaughter
― he cut off his contacts with seirah's parents after the incident, without him asking for any explanation on why their daughter acted that way, and parted ways with them peacefully
― he's a geriatric physical therapist, meaning that he's rehabilitating the older population (or senior citizens, so to speak)
― he's very confident of his looks, but he's not one to brag about it
― 2 months after seirah left, bogum took the liberty to handle bomi's important documents such as her birth certificate (which made him change her surname from kwon to kim), custody papers (which he asked seirah's parents to say their testimonies on what actually happened other than the note she left as an another proof) and the like
― when he asked seirah's parents to be the confirming that their daughter indeed left bomi to his care, he never asked where she was even if they knew where she is
 ― tba!!

BOGUM SAYS
― "appa is hurt, peanut" "did bomi hurt appa?" "yes, peanut hurt appa since she said that appa needs more friends" "but bomi don't want appa to be lonely"
― "how about this: you sleep now, and appa will get off work early so that i can pick you up and have enough time to visit the park?"
 ― "that's my princess!"
― (to chohee) "my daughter doesn't love me anymore" "... why?" "she makes this cute cringey face whenever i tried to hug her now" "i think calling her cringey face cute is the reason why she's making that face in the first place" "but she is cute!!"
― "peanut, appa first before boys okay?" "i don't like boys, appa. they do stupid things" "is appa an exception?" "you do stupid things too, appa"
― (to his patient) "it's great to see you again, mr. park! how's your back? doing good?"
 ― tba!!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOMI!
― she first started talking at the age of 3, with incoherent sentences but still was enough to leave bogum (metaphorically) crying because she's talking
― her first word is "appa", which also made bogum (again, metaphorically) cry even more
― she's not the loud type as she often speaks to bogum without shouting
― bomi's highly observant of things and ends up noticing how much bogum tries not to cry (it's often during christmas, but bomi doesn't really know the reason)
― bomi really took the news of her mother leaving her very well (which surprised bogum), and only because she said that she never really felt her mother when she was still a baby
― she rarely complains as she could see how much bogum tried his best to raise her. she doesn't want to give him a hard time so even if bogum did a good job in disciplining her while at the same time let her have what she wants to a controllable amount, she avoids becoming a burden to him
― despite the young age, parents and teachers alike always commented at how mature bomi acts. sometimes, it surprises bogum, but bomi often says that it's because he acts like one around her (bogum thinks that she might've picked it up from him through observations, but then he remembered that seirah was also mature at an early age)
― there are times that she feels jealousy towards her friends since everytime she's in a sleepover, she watches her friend's mom tucking her to bed
― despite that though, she's very thankful to have bogum even if he's not her biological dad
― she really finds it cringey whenever bogum tries to dote on her simply because she knows how he acts with the other adults. it's kinda weird to see her dad being serious with others then become a total 180 degrees when it comes to her
― she doesn't mind that her dad's strict at some point. but she hates it when he's being a hypocrite (that she often tells him such as the bell pepper incident)
― hates bell peppers with a passion, it's probably the only thing that makes her cry
― yes, she's not a crybaby. not because she doesn't want to, she just doesn't
― she finds boys childish for some reason (kind of an odd thought from a 6-year old); something like how she sees most of the boys in her school bully the girls and all that so she really hates them
― she also stands up for herself a lot, thanks to bogum's wonderful parenting skills on how to make other scram when they try to bully her (bogum, at that time, only did that because he's hypothetically putting bomi in that situation and wants her to become prepared)
― to say the least, bogum's quite proud hearing how she made the boys cry even if he's hearing that from the kindergarden principal

unlike hyunwoo, bogum's not really that close with chohee, but they did exchanged a few words and have short conversations during their meetings. he did appreciate the effort she made when he taught him how to properly tie hair, simply because she's a woman and because she roasted him in regards to his poor hair-tying skills (in his defense though, never in his whole life did he tied his own hair, let alone someone else's).

he was perhaps the first person who ever approached him upon joining the club (mainly because it's kinda like his job to do so, being the founder and all that). they kind of had a bond together for being single dads, and also because the women in their life walked out their lives (under different circumstances, but still it's the women who left). not only that, but they both had daughters, which seemed to get along more than they expected, so it was an added bonus to it. he's not at all intimidated by the 3-year , with bogum being older and all, since he finds hyunwoo admiring because of his thoughtfulness in creating the club (even if bogum did hesitated joining first).

he's not exactly sure what make out of adrian, other than the fact that he sees him as a richass dude who somewhat became a supplier of the club. he does notice the interest in adrian's eyes whenever she looks at chohee though, but doesn't choose to comment about it. its not like they interact with each other either so he couldn't find the reason to mention that.

despite having lingering feelings for seirah, bogum grew to not think about her anymore. even if bomi somewhat looked like her, he chose not to let it bother him anymore. when it comes to a time that seirah once again appeared in their lives, he decided that he'll let bomi decide if she wants to see her mother or not.

to better describe seongeun in bogum's vocabulary, she's probably the long lost twin or sibling he was never aware of. right at their first meeting, whilst there's still doubt and trust issues boiling on the surface, bogum had the feeling that she and him are just the same—which is true. it doesn't help that bitna looks almost similar to bomi to the point that one of the children just ran up to them and pointed the latter that she looks like me! she's my sister!

with similar occupations, it's no wonder that the their conversations doesn't end due to the numerous topics they talk about. from their jobs as medical professionals, to how they ended up being single parents, and to the point where they discuss how things work once bitna joins bomi in her ballet class. the sight of bomi holding bitna's hand in their tutus was such a blissful sight that both parents just immediately whipped out their phones and filmed them together.

seongeun's probably the first person bogum warmed up to the quickest (much to everyone's, including hyoyeon's, surprise). but that also results to constant genuine denial that there's a something between the two—to which seongeun has to explain that she likes women and women only and bogum snorting every time the former explains their relationship.

hello! please introduce yourself and say a few fun facts about yourself.
ah hello, he smiled whilst combing the short strands of hair by is nape. i'm kim bogum, a single parent, a physical therapist, a matcha enthusiast, and bomi's superman.
how many children do you have? what are their names? is there anything you want to say about them?
his face immediately lighten up at the thought of his daughter and smiled adoringly, i have a daughter named bomi. she's turning 7 this december on christmas day, and she's my one and only princess. i guess i dote on her too much because she sometimes make this cute cringy face whenever i hug her, he paused, and then chuckled. but she's also too mature for her age that sometimes i think i'm talking to an adult than a kid.
how old were you when you became a single parent?
he looked up and mentally counted the years, i think i was 23? yeah, i was 23 and i'm in the middle of my master's when i became one.
at what point did you really realize you would have to take all the sole responsibilty of your child/children from now on?
at that point, the painful memories of seirah's face when she supposedly left bomi in his care wiithout knowing that her true intentions is to never come back flooded back. when.. i went home only to find out that bomi's the only one there and he rnote was left in my bedroom, he smiled sadly.
personally, what do you think is the hardest thing about being a single parent?
as a parent, there's a sense of fulfillment when your kid introduces you to their friends... but i find it heartbreaking that i won't be able to see my daughter say "this is my appa and eomma" but instead only saying "this is my appa" when her friends come over, he sadly laughed. really, my daughter deserves everything.
what is one thing you want to tell people who have single parents or are a single parent themselves?
personally speaking—and this is for all the single parents out there—you don't need to have a partner for you to take care of a child. no one's saying that a father is supposed to only act like a father and vice versa. be both! it's hard, yes, but it'll all be worth it because at the end of the day, you get to see your child smile knowing that they have the best parent, he nodded. as for the kids who have single parents, just love them, really. i know that some kids might say it's not normal for you to have only an appa o an eomma, but if you think about it, they give you twice as love! i think that's all that matters, you know?, he grinned before adding something that was related to his situation. also, blood doesn't have to be an indicator whether you're family or not. love is.

STYLE
unlike most girls, she's not really picky when it comes to fashion. she's more of a comfy type, getting whatever clothes she feels comfortable wearing. with such a thin stature, it made her like baggy clothes even more (she kinda liked the protective feeling of wearing an oversized clothe)

PERSONALITY
hyoyeon has the personality of a mother. she's nurturing, patient, understanding, but also a bit clumsy for someone who's a ballet teacher. she's the total opposite of bogum, how he's judgmental while she's not, he's a perfectionist by default whereas she doesn't particularly mind how some things are just not perfect, and other things. her nurturing personality was what bomi liked about her the most, maybe because she doesn't have a mother and she sees hyoyeon as one. and just like bomi, hyoyeon adores her just as much; even more than any of the students she has in the acadmy (but nobody needs to know that). she's incredibly naive though, yet bogum finds that endearing even if he often scolds her to not be fooled by anyone.

you want to know what i think? i think bomi is one of the sweetest children i've ever taught. and i personally think that she's the person she is right now because of her brave yet stupidly adorable appa.
FIRST MEETING
bogum first met hyoyeon when he enrolled bomi for ballet classes (apparently, the nutcracker does leave a huge influence on children, especially girls, and so he ended up letting bomi enroll). at that time, bogum had no plans on finding a lover; his situation with seirah was nothing more than a lesson and a reminder for him that no matter how long you get to know the person, at some point many aren't just ready to accept a kid in their lives

she was there when bogum applied bomi to her class. they were only short exchange of greetings though, and that was that.

the next time bogum met hyoyeon was when he decided to watch bomi during her lessons on a weekday since he took a leave from work (he wants to spend more time with his daughter which is why he chose to accompany her). most of the parents watching their kids are mothers, while he's the only dad at the sides. he's also particularly aware of the looks he's receiving from them (not judgmental, but he knows whether or not they're checking him out; and they really are checking him out). it wouldn't really bother him that much if it weren't for their loud whispers which annoyed him for a bit (whispers are meant to be not heard by anyone), but he was thankful when bomi's class took a break and he saw his daughter skipping towards him with a big smile on her face.

"appa look! i can stand on my toes now!"

he smiled at her adoringly, "yes you are! i'm so proud of you, peanut."

"she has talent," a voice interrupted their small conversation, seeing bomi's instructor approaching them with a soft smile on her face.

if bogum were to describe her—and this is him being honest—she's admittingly more beautiful than seirah. he's not one to compare, and judging from the smile on her face and how she watches bomi excitingly show her how she can stand on her toes, bogum pondered whether or not he's going to find trust her enough to actually continue talking to her. then again, she did managed to make bomi smile bigger than any other person who've talked to her before so he decides to trust her for the meantime.

"you did a good job teaching her," he commented.

she looked up at him and grinned, "i only teach, she's the one executing it perfectly well. i also admire her matureness since she's the only one who didn't cry amongst the rest when i first taught them the pointe technique."

he frowned at the new term, "pointe?"

she pointed at bomi, who's still standing on her toes, "it's what you call the stepping on their toes kind of technique."

bogum made an oh before nodded, "what's your name again? i kinda forgot."

bomi gave her father a look, "forgetting people's names is bad, appa."

"it's alright, bomi," she said, her amused eyes never leaving bogum's as she smiled. "i'm park hyoyeon. pleasure to meet you."

bogum raised an eyebrow at her, but nonetheless nodded his head. "pleasure's mine. thanks for teaching bomi, it's not everyday i get to see her smile because of someone other than me."

"i don't smile like this at home either, appa."

bogum feigned a hurt look at his face, "peanut! that's mean!"

to say the least, bogum never forgot how he thought that hyoyeon's laugh sounded like harps emitting a beautiful melody.

LOVE STORY
throughout bomi's classes, the amount of times bogum visited are starting to increase. he first convinced himself that it's because he wants to see bomi do ballet (which is true, but he rejects the other reason why he's also accompanying his daughter to her extracurricular class).

the wound honestly still felt fresh to bogum, which is a factor to his hesitance in accepting the fact that he's starting to find interest in his daughter's ballet teacher. she just acts like a mother, bogum would be stupid if he doesn't see that. her beautiful features are just an added bonus to how wonderful she is. he notes that she's extremely naive, noticing how the mothers in bomi's class often shoot scowls to her direction whenever the two converse with each other; but bogum chose not to do anything about it because she doesn't seem to notice (and because he doesn't really care what they think).

despite his growing interest though, he's all the more hesitant to analyze his own feelings. he's pretty sure his feelings for seirah are completely gone (it's been years), but it doesn't mean that that incident left nothing to his heart. not only did seirah hurt him because she left him, but mainly because she left her daughter. even though hyoyeon would've been such a nice mother, bogum couldn't fathom that that's enough for bogum to let her enter into their lives.

after all, he worked hard to not let anyone else come closer. the parents from spc were the only exception.

CURRENT STATUS
― friends. bogum's still hesitant about his feelings and the idea of having hyoyeon close to him and bomi

ENDING
― well. bogum deserves some love doesn't he? and bomi deserves a mom!!!
― i would leave this up to you on how they ended up together (i want to let you have the creative freedom for it :>)
― but if you want suggestions, i was thinking that bogum's way of confessing is when he invited her to their home for the first time (it's kinda like a sign that bogum trusts her)
― and also they come to an agreement that they're going to be honest to each other as they dated (they did that after bogum told her everything—from how he met seirah, the time she left bomi to him, and all that)
― of course, bomi more than happily accepted that they're dating!

TRIVIAS
― she's not going to admit it to anyone, not even to bomi or bogum, but bomi is her favorite student
― she graduated in snu with a degree in fine arts
― she's been a ballet teacher for 5 years already, often teaching young children ages 5-10 since she prefers to deal with kids rather than teenagers
― her first impression on bogum: he looks like prince charming
― she actually developed a crush on bogum the moment they met because of his looks. hyoyeon painfully admits that she's easy to like someone because of their looks
― but of course, she knows when to stop if she finds out what kind of person they are
― hyoyeon hesitant to ask whether bogum's married or not. she sees no wedding band, but she still doesn't want to assume
― despite her naivety, she's not densed enough to not notice how many times bogum looks at her
― her co-workers often comment how they would be such a visual couple if they end up together (which she's kinda agreeing to—she knows she's pretty, after all)
― currently single for almost 5 years as well because most of the men she dated are full of crap so she just kinda gave up looking (until bogum showed up)
― she wishes to have a family though, and she doesn't mind if she gets married late as long as she finds the right person
― she thinks that bogum's the right person, she's just not sure how she's going to be close to him

COMMENTS
― dfhilhfir i finally finished him i cry
― there's a hidden scroll on the personality part for you to see the traits. same goes for the background and the relationship sections!!
― the process on how he became a single parent was inspired from lsgrlr's namjin story: doctor, doctor
― i enjoyed writing him a lot, mainly because i love writing parental characters and their kids :")
― i also decided to add a solo section just for bomi so that you can get to know her better on a deeper level? does that make sense? i hope it does hldhfrg
― i thought of taking a different approach in becoming a "parent", so to speak. i mean, family is family regardless of whether or not they're blood-related right?
― honestly though, i had a slightly hard time writing his love story with hyoyeon because i imagined how bogum wasn't ready to love someone again (not after what seirah did)
― i also want it to be like the other way around? like, it's the guy this time who's kinda hard to predict whether they gonna end up with the girl or not (does that make sense fhilhgrue)
― also, jar of hearts in the playlist like a hypothetical song if ever you wanted to add spice to the story by having seirah appearing in their lives and wanted to see bomi
― hopefully i didn't made too much mistakes ;; i apologize in advance though if there are ever one huhu

SCENE SUGGESTIONS
― kinda like a family day for the spc!! of course all props are sponsored by adrian HAHAHAHA
― i actually like to see bogum and hyunwoo talk about their experiences before, i mean they did went through the same thing (somehow)
― CHOHEE TEACHING BOGUM HOW TO TIE HAIR!!
― maybe during the family day someone's kid got hurt and bogum, being the HCP he is, went PT-mode :")

PASSWORD
― rice omelette (is that even a snack? bomi really doesn't have a favorite except for rice omelette so- AHAHAHA)
