first known for her unique, but pretty visuals that netizens argue whether jooyeon looks more like twice's tzuyu or jihyo. though both fair claims, she has the tanned, foreign, southern asian look that people confuse her for being taiwanese. spoiler alert: she's not! but fans enjoy how she has this quote-on-quote "exotic look". at first glance, jooyeon can seem on the chubby side, with her youthfull, full, dimple-ridden cheeks, but thanks to her fair height (and diligent workouts), she's thinner than one would think. the sharp features are what she is most proud of: her skinny, sharp nose, v-shaped smile, wide half-cresent eyes, and cute big ears. she loves these characteristics that makes her stand out.

although she's young and loves to (can't help but to) follow the trends, specifically the korean trends. yes, she's a young trainee girl that lives in sweats and sneakers, but she also likes to dress up in personal wear. she would call her style modest and cute. but really some of the girls that she dresses like the youngest one in kindergarden. 

the stylists try their best to match her stage outfits with her personality and style, and how she stands out from the other girl. winnie's one request: don't show too much skin. she's uncomfortable, understandably. so the stylists usually put her in long straight or a-line skirts or dresses (sometimes pants, sometimes) and tops and blouses with frilly details: they experiement with different types of necklines, sleeve styles, and textures to give off an expensive but good girl type of vibe. growing up in a somewhat pretty strict household, winnie is subjected to some traits that the other girls would say are charming. first, jooyeon is the sweetest and most kind girl. being raised at the standards she did, she always had more pressure on her to be well-mannered, more so than her peers. this grew the girl into being super polite, even when not necessary, or super obdient (which being younger, can be used against her sometimes). the girls of spice would say her naivity is the cutest, until it becomes so ridiculous that the others just have to take advantage of it. also being one of the youngests, she's not going to fight with her elders. although she's obdient and polite, she was raised with a set of standards that exceeded everybody elses expectations. therefore, she can be a bit headstrong or tenacious when it comes to ideals she has in her head. in these situations, she thinks its her way or no way because her way is the right way, which leds to the self-righteous behavior that everybody can't stand. which results in her being mad by herself; you can see it in her little huffs and nose flairs, but she will never blow up at anyone, especially not her elders.

and she can be very judgemental. though she never tries to say anything with the intent to hurt, but the blunt honesty that comes out makes it so anyways. because of this, jooyeon becomes known for her blunt/honest one-liners. raised as an only child in  strict home, she's always had a schedule. even know that she has a lot more freedom than ever, she keeps herself on loose schedule to make sure she's not wasting a day's time. she's disciplined with herself naturally, knowing what's expected of her.  although the other girls may call her old-schooled or think she doesn't teer off the straight and narrow , they still know that jooyeon is a young teenage girl that loves having fun, fooling around, and has a bit of mischievousness to her. they couldn't couln't how many times winnie's tried to pull pranks on them, but catches her everytime because she's no good at it. because of these things, they find winnie to be their  baby to protect at all costs. BACKGROUND

music has been such an integrated part of jooyeon's life, she always knew she was going to do music for the rest of her life. well, with a musical theatre actress mother and a father who owns a small music school, it's basically all she knows. growing up she's spent most of her life at either school or the music school learning vocal tecniques, piano, violin, and traditional drums. music was expected of her, as was keeping a well-mannered image. jooyeon always thought that she would either inheret her father's business or follow into her mother's footsteps, up until she got into middle school and pop/idol music became a big part of her everyday life. she became just as invested as the other girls in her class over which idol boy was better. this shifted the way she played and wrote music too; she became more interested in the upbeat, bouncy style of music. popular music.

this sparked her interest into becoming an idol, knowing that she was going to do music for the rest of her life anyways. luckily she was able to audition with another friend of hers to a company that was surprisngly nearby her school, sm entertainment. she was accepted literally the next day. while her mother did not like the idea (for looking down on idol music as well as thinking that jooyeon was too young for the industry), her father supported her, just happy that she wanted to do music. it took many conversations with the help of her father and the sm staff in order to persuade her mother. though the main selling point was that jooyeon would have a definite career in musical theatre when her idol contract is up. 

jooyeon started training at sm in july 2016 and started becoming winnie.

+ winnie's been writing and composing music her whole life with her dad, therefore the sm staff saw her potential after she auditioned with an original song, and allowed her to learn under some of their in house producers.
