— Daehyun is noted to be a hardworking, “goody-two-shoes” who is always following/sticking to the rules and comes off as haughty and prissy. To most, Daehyun seems very stuck up and has an air like he’s better or smarter than you. He speaks his mind and often doesn't have something nice to say. He seems like a big know-it-all in a sense, and most consider him to be detached and insensitive, but actually, that's not true. Daehyun puts on this stuck up aura because he is annoyed with how people treat models.

Because of his modeling career, no one really takes him very seriously, and this irks Daehyun to no end. He's always called out and made fun of, especially by other males, because of his 'pretty' appearance, making them assume he's some prissy prude that doesn't have the talent and instead gets things based on his looks. Being used to people judging and making assumptions about him, Daehyun, in result, is a frigid person at the first meeting, keeping most people at a polite distance. He definitely has a very 'ice prince' vibe about him, especially when he opens his mouth and starts talking very direct, to the point.

He has almost a passive-aggressive way of speaking, that is enough to be considered polite with a bitter edge. Daehyun doesn't beat around the bush. He's a direct person who focuses on his goals and intends to meet them regardless. He is responsible and doesn't have time to mess around, especially since he feels like he needs to prove his talent to others, showing that he is actually a skilled vocalist and doesn't just rely on his good looks to get by. Daehyun is a responsible perfectionistic, almost to a fault. He takes every single thing seriously and will not stop until his work is done at 150% each and every time. Due to his slightly critical and perfectionist nature, he doesn't have a problem telling others his thoughts or critiquing, only adding to the 'stuck-up' demeanor. He is also a very focused, driven person.

Daehyun tends to be emotional, but that's not exactly something he wants everyone to know. But once you get to know him, it's evident that he lets his heart make most decisions for him rather than thinking clear-headed most of the time. When he's upset, you best believe he doesn't hide it well, and when he's happy, you can see it written all over his face. Daehyun takes most things to heart without meaning to. However, most people view him as emotionless or heartless because he tends to always be on the more serious side, although this isn’t the case at all, but he prefers not to argue this and just leaves it alone.

Daehyun is a huge crybaby sensitive little fluff ball. He's a pouty baby who is too soft on the inside and bitterly denies it. Honestly, Daehyun cries a lot. He cries when he's happy, extremely pissed, or upset. He just bursts into tears and tries to play it off, but it's way too obvious to deny. He only really cares about people that take the time to get to know him, and he can truly show who he is as a person, rather than keeping up a cold front. Things like interviews are all apart of the job, and he isn't going to be overly friendly or fake for people who don't even care about him or recognize his skill.

Daehyun, the colossal baby, is very loyal to those that get to know him, and he will be very close to them and more open about his insecurities. Because he's so sensitive, he won't hesitate to comfort his friends and loved ones, even if he seems a bit scary when doing it because of his bluntness, but he means well~! He is giving and sweet to his friends, very caring and almost motherly in a sense that he'll make sure they're happy, bringing extra medicine for them or supplying an extra sweater in case they get cold. He's a thoughtful person in the little things, and very nagging like a mom.

He is an extremely secretive and insecure person. He becomes quite uncomfortable when asked VERY personal questions--most of the time, he deflects them with convincing, vague answers or by directing it to other members. He’s insecure about being compared to other group members and hates when people try to make things into a huge competition or comparison. He’s always felt like his musical peers, and everyone around him was looking down on him like Daehyun wasn’t good enough to earn a spot in the group by just his talent, and he so badly wants to prove his worth. Daehyun has always disliked people bringing up the fact he's a model as well, particularly when he's making appearances with his group members and would rather talk about what he's doing in the group. So many people just recognize him for his pretty face rather than main vocals. Models are always assumed to be stupid and useless, so Daehyun is very sensitive about it.

As a defensive mechanism, he has become very aloof and cold to those he isn’t close with, giving him a haughty air and intimidating or rude disposition. Though because of his perfectionist and ambitious tendencies, Daehyun tends to be quite critical and brutal in his critique and will often brush it off like nothing. Daehyun is notable in having a very strong poker face, and only lashes out when he’s hurt or angry (he's just savage regularly).

Generally, Daehyun isn't that suspicious of a person because he tends to judge people while they're standing in front of him, and he can analyze them perfectly with a 'clear' outlook. And he judges hard. Once he has his opinion, it will be quite hard to convince him otherwise. Though if someone is acting out of their norm, then he will be very suspicious of that person. He can be hot-headed, something he is slightly embarrassed of but doesn't have any control over, and generally can flip out if he's furious. Something that he’s trying to keep at bay would be his sarcasm and verbal lashing, especially when irritated or angry. He can just say anything off of the top of his head and instantly regret it.

He can't help but be blunt and speak his mind. Lying is something Daehyun isn't fond of, and you will see this with his bluntness. In uncomfortable or undesirable situations, Daehyun will probably be the first to stand up and with the others in tow, walk out, or speak out, whichever is the better option. When he feels like he or innocent others are being attacked, he will be the first to prove the oppressors wrong (if it doesn't cause any significant consequences, of course). Daehyun does know when not to and when to act on his opinions, but it still doesn't stop him from voicing it out of his fellow friends. With can lead to people thinking he’s bossy and opinionated, which he kinda is. When he’s upset, he can get wildly erratic and blow things way out of proportion. His emotions can get the best of him, which he’s trying hard to work on.

— Daehyun comes from a very typical family, for the most part. He is the younger sibling to his older sister. Daehyun and his sister look very much alike, and when he was little, he would constantly get asked if he was her little sister. Especially when his noona started taking gymnastics, and their mom signed Daehyun up too. His sister was absolutely amazing, even at a young age, and Daehyun could never even hope to be as talented as she. Although taking gymnastics at the same gym as his sister was horrible, considering everyone thought they were twin girls and his sister's friends always made fun of him, but not nearly as bad as the boys in his gymnastics class.

The boys had a field day making remarks about Daehyun 'the princess,' and he hated it so much. Every day he would go home and cry about being called a girl, at gymnastics and school until his mother told him to make the other kids regret their words by being cold about it. Daehyun took her advice to hard and became a focused ice prince. He started spending his time perfecting his routines until, at the age of thirteen, when he attended a national juniors gymnastics competition, Daehyun was approached by a modeling agency after seeing him perform.

Daehyun wasn't so sure about becoming a young model, but his family encouraged him, so maybe Daehyun could gain confidence about his appearance rather than being so down all the time. So Daehyun reluctantly accepted. Much to his surprise, he became a popular model and fast. Despite his young age, his youthful appearance wooed the hearts of many, and before he knew it, Daehyun was one of the top sought after models in Korea, and his family had moved from Jeju Island to Seoul for Daehyun's demanding career. He occationally made cameos on different dramas, and filmed many advertisements.

With his busy schedule, Daehyun had to drop gymnastics, which he didn't mind, considering it was more of his sister's thing, but Daehyun wanted something more of his own. Modeling was alright, but it wasn't something he was passionate about. Yeah, he knew he was handsome now, but that could only take him so far, and he hated people assuming he was stupid or talentless because of his position.

This was when Daehyun started to really get into singing. He'd always been a fan of music, especially kpop groups considering his sister loved them too. He even had a few model friends who were also singers, and their skills always wowed him. Daehyun decided that he really wanted to be a singer. He could freely express himself and show the depth and sides of his personality that he always closed off to the world.

Music was his passion, and it didn't matter how you looked when you sang. A singer has talent regardless of their appearance. Daehyun finally thought he found something for himself outside of his sister's shadow, and he decided he would use his position to chase his dream of becoming a singer.

Though, despite Daehyun's popularity, many companies and even his manager didn't take him seriously when expressing his hope of becoming an idol. He was just a model, just a pretty face. Models didn't have talent. They didn't even have feelings. They were just dumb pretty people. Daehyun was so tired of hearing this everywhere and more than offended that no company wanted a model, that is, until he decided to audition to P.Nation. PSY was known for being uniquely himself and didn't care what people looked like or where they came from, and Daehyun respected him for it, so he was more than happy to audition to such an inspirational performer. Surprisingly PSY took him seriously and saw Daehyun talent, accepting him into the company.

Daehyun and his noona are very close despite the problems he has with being compared to her considering they look so similar. They're also close in age, only two years apart, making them have a close relationship. She's constantly supporting her little brother and looking out for him. Haewon calls to check in with Daehyun regularly and of course to . He gets embarrassed when she calls when the other members are around because she'll make comments about how 'cute' they are and how Daehyun is lucky to be around such handsome guys. He knows she's just messing around though, but she loves to fluster him. He relies on his sister a lot and also watches her gymnastics competitions on tv or in person when he can. Haewon is also biual and she has come out to their parents, having already had both girlfriends and boyfriends, so she's also supportive of Daehyun's uality.

— SAVAGE / Daehyun is closer than some members than others, but for the most part he grows to truly appreciate and care for the others. He sees them as true friends and people that care more about him as a person than his appearance or fame. He might have conflicts with the members sometimes but overall he thinks of them as his best friends and some of the only people he can rely on. It's a blessing to have them on this journey, to look across the stage and know you aren't the only one feeling the heavy rush of adrenilyn and just living there in the moment.

trainee life

— Going from being a model and actor to a trainee was a bit hard. The other trainees were pretty skeptical and judgemental of him so Daehyun kept his distance a lot and focused on his vocal training. Considering there were very limited numbers of trainees at P.Nation though, Daehyun couldn't really stay away from everyone. They all assumed different stuff about him because of his popularity in the public eye, so no one approached him for a while. 

Daehyun got into the same headspace as to when he was in gymnastics and set goals for himself to complete and drive him forward. He was desperate to prove himself. Daehyun knew he was lacking in skills but he was willing to work extra hard, staying extremely late after practice and coming in early to make up for what he lacked. After seeing his dedication to training, some of the other trainees started to take him more seriously and approach him. He was polite but didn't really bother making friends until people came along that were more interested as him as a person rather than him as a celebrity. Many of the trainees asked about his life as a model and the cameos he had on different dramas but it was always about who he knew and whatnot rather than real interest. The only people he really became close to were the other members of SAVAGE, considering they were the most dedicated of the trainees and shared his passion. It took him a while to become close to anyone but slowly he does, over time, some more than others.

The only real scandal he had before becoming a trainee was when he first got his lip piercing and the public starting saying he was a bad person, assuming he was a party boy who did drugs or something when he was quite the opposite.
