Stop, harassing me

A/N: I just needed to write this, to get a few things off my chest, I originally wasn’t going to, but enough is honestly enough. Because I have said several times in other notes my plans and it seems like no one is listening to me, so this is also the last time I’m going to say some of these things here, thank you.



 

 Because I am tired of the way I am treated on this site. I am noticing the way I am being harassed by some readers, to the point that it is beyond ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to see comments of Update, Update, Update. All the time, every single second, when I have made it clear that I will update and finish all of my old fics, when I get to them. I do have lists of all my fics, but seriously, I am one person, what do you all want from me? Some of you don’t know how hard it is to write, because some of you don’t write, will never write, and sit at your computers yelling at an author thinking you own us, and you really don’t. I said I wanted less silent readers, but not for anything like this. I never wanted some of you to treat me like I’m some robot, or property that belongs to you for your amusement.

 

And sometimes, I find it hard to just enjoy what I write, and really all I want to do is write sometimes because it is my escape, when I feel depression hit me hard, or can’t take real life or need a break, and then I read comments attacking my character, or making it seem like I won’t update because, hello? I’m one person? I’m not a machine? Do you not see the amount of fics I have? But also, I notice the way some of you are treating me is especially because of the rated fics, or in particular because of help wanted, daddy needed. I never ever said I wasn’t going to write that fic again. I will write it, on my own terms, on my own time. I owe no one anything, I am free to write whatever I want, whenever inspiration takes me? Right, yes?

 

Do you all treat other authors as ty as you treat me?

 

Do you harass others as much as you do me?

 

When all I’m asking for is a basic level of respect? 

 

I’m just tired of this, and so I’m tired of ignoring all the harassing behavior, I’m tired of being nice, and looking the other way. I will completely just block everyone doing this, if you can’t just wait, because all of you doing this had been silent readers, and are really silent readers just randomly popping into remind me that I should be updating (your) fic when you never support me in anyway, you will be blocked, that’s all that is to it. Because I will not let any of you take away my joy and love for writing, none of you will take that away from me.

You have a library of over 360 stories and they have the gull to harass? I mean, they could read and apreciate your other works while waiting. I hope they learn to wait with respect. I wouldn't want to annoy you like that and get you fed up that might lead to you not finishing the piece entirely. I mean, yeah.
Hope you are feeling much better after blowing some of your steam here but feel free to rant again(in case things doesnt change).

Still resonate strongly with this lol I owe no damn readers nothing when is coming to my brain to write. I write for my own enjoyment and so should fellow authors. As for being a reader, I try to comment but it’s difficult to force oneself to do it when there’s nothing really substantial to comment about depending on the story/chapter. And I read and write a lot on my ipad and writing hurts to do cuz my hands are small and I like it landscape wise so yeah my hand muscles cramp up if I write too much like right now.

oh my god. i am really really sorry for the rude and disrespectful readers out there. i may not be a writer myself but i know how hard writing is at times when you are not just in the mood or when there are a lot of things going on in your head. writing should be a fun thing to do when you are not pressured into doing things in a fast-paced way. please author, take your time and rest when you need to. don’t be too hard on yourself and just ignore those insensitive people. stay safe and healthy!

Wow, I knew readers could be rude but not to this extent and by numbers like this :/
I think having 3 stories is a lot when I go to a profile and you have 300+ with many being multi-chaptered(?), so it's insane to think people have any right to demand anything of you when they have /so/ may options to read and just...not do that. To be so entitled to something you not only are getting for free but from someone you think you can just demand write for you is nothing short of demented. It's a certain sort of tone-deaf to not even review the stories you say you enjoy until you want something of the author. Like it'll be 900subscribers, 30upvotes and 7 comments and four of them say 'update, update, update!!'. It's insane. You also respond to comments we make! The way people will demand and cry over plots/ships in the comments when they know certain authors don't even write those genres/ships or even a bit of angst in a story and threaten authors to change something...like???? Just read or don't.
I hope things get more positive for you doing you're hiatus and you can just chill. You've got no shortage of amazing stories to read and it's been a pleasure to read them. If you were never update or write on this site again, there should be nothing but wishing you well because you owe nothing to these people. Thank you for sharing your work and please rest well! Should you come back, I'll be here patiently and if you don't, may the future treat you kindly. I hope you can be satisfied knowing you've done some of the most varied and well written work on this site.

my god whoever reader that being rude to you or messaging rude comment and commanding their are childish I must say because if you are a truly reader you will appreciate it when will be update and be patient for it.. I'm saying this because I'm a reader itself and I understand author they not updated frequently because let's be mature it's their hobby to write not their official job or their studying if ever their student because some author are in high scholl or college... i will say this to you author your an amazing author and I enjoy reading your fanfiction it makes me smile when your updating.. if you are stress take a break and we your supportive fans will patiently wait for your upate... fighting author always remember that their are readers that always love your work... until then author till next time...

I am SO sorry there are people harassing you like this.

Your writing should 100% always be on your own terms. Even if you were to drop all of your works at this very moment, that is 100000% your prerogative, and nobody should be telling you otherwise. As a reader, every chapter you contribute to the community is a gift, and you're definitely one of the most prolific writers meaning I'm basically showered with gifts frequently.

As a reminder to every reader, it is a gift in that it is freely given and freely received, under no circumstances should we be harassing authors to produce more for us. They give us these gifts by taking chunks of time out of their lives. Therefore when they share a chapter, you are not entitled to another chapter, another story, in fact, they owe you nothing.

As a writer, I understand the frustration of creation. When the pressure is overwhelming (and with no justification whatsoever,) the process of creation we enjoy so much can become daunting and even painful. I just want you to know that I see you, and I'm thankful for you and for every story you've written. Take the time you need. Whether a little time, a lot of time, even never? Still rooting for you.

I'm a writer myself, although I've encountered such treatment at a very minimal amount tbh, I am grateful that most of my readers are so warm and understanding.

It is certainly a shocker to me knowing that there are readers who actually threatened authors? I'm so sorry you had to deal with such people, even though I can't relate to it. The readers who threatened you honestly, don't even deserve the right to read your works. Words that we, authors, deliver can be between intimately personal and professionally thought out, either way, it's important and precious to us. To be pressured is just a no-no. I hope you'll find some peace from this hiatus, and come back stronger :) it's really the real ones that matter, you get me? Hope whatever bad things you're feeling, ease soon!

Dear author,
I cant believe people will pressure or threaten you just to update a story. Take all the time you need,also the people who threaten you should know that this is ur story and not theirs. How dare they demand such thing. I am absolutely certain that they dont know how much time/effort/days to complete a chapter from the character development to the structure of the story. They simply just type/comment naaty things without thinking of hurting someone on the other end. I would say to ignore but that is inevitable because most writers here read comments in a way to somewhat a keen interest on both writer and reader. Is there anyway to report xomment?i should hope so to protect the writers. I hope that the threats would stop and hope that you will continue writing whether it is a new story or an update,regardless of what you write i enjoy and i always look forward to your writing. I even go and reread some of ur fanfics because i am a fan of ur work. Again im sorry for these nasty humans for treating you like this. Stay safe and remember that there are readers who follow u because of ur talent and creativity like me. I know its easy to say to brush off the negative comments and look through the positve ones but those comments are inevitable however u can always look for positive ones like mine. This was needed for the ones with no sense of reality, authors are not printing machines and you cannot order them around the message should be clear.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with people like that author-nim. Your well being is the most important thing. You don't owe them at all. I'm so grateful that even though you have a lot of ideas and writing a lot you still give us content and all of your writings are written well. It shows how much you love to write and how much work, passion and thoughts you put in every piece you do.

Please don't be too hard on yourself and write on your own pace. We will support you. Thank you so much for writing and sharing your work with us author-nim and I'll never get tired to say that to you ❤️

Totally support you in this! I am more of a silent reader, but when I don’t comment, I ALWAYS upvote a story I subscribed too. People don’t understand that you don’t owe them anything, and that they should, in fact, just thank you, because you give them good content.
I must say I’ve seen a lot of “plz update” “update author” under your story, and it always made me very uncomfortable to see this much comments like this under your stories. You are indeed, an author who has a LOT of fanfics, and although I see some of those comments on other authors’ stories, I think yours are particularly filled with those annoying and disrespectful comments.
Blocking them is a great option, and I hope you won’t get hate for this. Stand up for yourself, you deserve better! :)
