ELABORATION. 

she sighs before sipping her red wine, glass in one hand and cellphone in the other, mindlessly scrolling through her feed to find some sort of distraction or entertainment on this quiet moonlit night. should she call someone up? her instincts tell her not to, her brain reminding her this is the time to finally rest, but jungah's fingers are already dialing a distraction to come and occupy her time. this is go jungah- a manifestation of agility, grace and creativity needed to become the performer that she is today. as someone who's been in the idol industry a long time, jungah could tell you first hand that it's not all shimmering glamour, someone as distractible as jungah can easily get swept up in the current. the truth is, it's hard for this woman to sit still. she constantly has to keep her mind occupied by something, or else she'll slip into a state of melancholy. being left alone with her thoughts is jungah's greatest annoyance, she hates feeling sad and can't figure out why she can't rest in peace, she's thought about going to therapy before but ultimately decided against it, too afraid of what she might hear.

the truth that jungah can't seem to grasp is that she truly isn't happy with her situation, she is constantly lonely despite being in a legendary girl group. she has always been self-reliant, due to her parents divorce jungah had to learn how to take care of herself from a young age and that mindset has followed her since then. jungah doesn't go to anyone when she has problems or worries because she feels the only one who cant sort it out is herself, nobody can have her back better than she can. another result of her parent's divorce is jungah's refusal to commit to any romantic relationship, sometimes even platonic relationships can make her antsy as well- befriending jungah is difficult because she finds it hard to trust others, but with time and kindness she'll open up so long as the friendship remains platonic. perhaps it's hard to see her loneliness because go jungah is egocentric, she thinks so highly of herself and only looks out for her own regards, so how is it possible that she even needs the commitment of someone else? flings are so easy because they don't seek a label, so jungah indulges in that instead.

there is nothing wrong with a consenting woman living her best life doing whatever she chooses, but promiscuity is bumped down to neutral because jungah's reasonings for doing so can be called into question- flings don't make her happy, it's a quick fix solution that is only temporary and ultimately results in feeling lonelier, not to mention south korea is still so behind on the times that a woman having flings is seen as a scandal. jungah should know, she has quite a few under belt due to her rash behavior and tactlessness. she used to be sneakier back in the early days, but has since lost patience and decided to recklessly make her own decisions without thinking about how it could mess with her and sowon's reputation. this is also why her laid-back attitude is bumped down to neutral as well, because while it's great to not stress about certain things, jungah also can't ever seem to grasp the seriousness of her own actions. any scolding is met with a wave of her hand, saying "it's not a big deal, i'll be careful next time" while proceeding to not be careful next time.

it may seem like jungah doesn't care for her career given how easily she gets into trouble, but that's far from the truth- jungah is a determined idol, she set the intention that she will be successful and has stuck to it from day one. combined with her inability to relax is potentially dangerous because jungah can be practicing or choreographing for hours at a time without stopping. on the bright side, jungah has a confident & charismatic disposition in her day-to-day life that makes her shine among the crowd, you'll never see her slouching in her seat or tucked away in the corner. part of this is a persona she puts on to keep people around but not too close, but a part of her naturally can charm a room with just her dimpled-smile alone. this is part of the reason she's not a "cancelled" member of sowon despite her actions, her fans and surprisingly (some) netizens are always blown away with how well jungah carries herself. there are some hate comments here and there because that's par for the course but usually sowon fans will just reply with a fancam of jungah being playful and goofy with her members and call it a day.

a lot of men assume that jungah would be shy when they try and flirt with her, but such is not the case with jungah so long as she's attracted to whomever is talking her up. jungah can handle her own in that situation and flirt back in a way that has the other person blushing and stumbling over their words, the young woman shooting them a wink before strutting away. jungah is confident in her strut because the girl still finds time somehow to stay active, and not just by dancing and practicing with her group- she's a fan of yoga and tries to maintain a healthy but still tasty diet. sometimes in the middle of a yoga pose or when waiting for her time in the recording booth jungah's head will be thinking of or creating lyric ideas for songs. jungah might not be musically inclined with instruments or composing but her creativity is boundless when it comes to lyrics, using scenery around her or people-watching for inspiration that always seems to click for her.

BACKGROUND.

go jungah was born in daejeon to a baker mother and lawyer father. go hyunjae was a very stern man, making him the perfect lawyer but a rather cold father. his contributions to the family were mostly monetary, though jungah is thankful she was able to be in contemporary dance lessons for most of her early years because of him, she always resented the way he treated her and her mother. jung hyorin was always kind and caring, the complete opposite of her husband. she would arrive home with extra pastries from her job to share with jungah, and tuck her in at night by telling her adventure stories. even though her parents were busy bees and relied on a sitter a lot, jungah never felt like she wasn't being raised by her mom. by the time jungah was nine, she became more aware of the fact that hyunjae was almost never home- she doesn't have any fond memories of spending time with her dad, and she wondered why. what little jungah didn't know, is that hyunjae was cheating on hyorin with his secretary from his firm. hyorin was mostly unaware, still feeling resentment for her husband for not being around but not wanting to start any fights. to this day jungah doesn't know how, but hyorin found out when jungah was ten and filed for divorce. hyorin tried to break the news as appropriately to jungah as possible, but it's something that still scars the girl to this day. her heart broke for her mother, and made jungah question if the love from hyorin's bed time stories was just purely fiction.

despite the separation, hyunjae still paid for everything jungah needed and then some, probably his own ed up way of trying to make it up to the girl, which meant financially hyorin and jungah were fine on their own. jungah still danced, though her interest in contemporary waned while her love for idol music was increasing. s.e.s, dbsk, boa, rain- jungah was fascinated by it all, and the young girl found her eyes glued to the tv to watch music shows after school. she begged hyorin to add hip&hop dance classes to her schedule, in which she reached out and told hyunjae- the next day, it was done. jungah started to absolutely live in dance, she surrounded herself with it constantly and it was all she could think about. when she was eleven, she found out a girl from her school got accepted into jyp entertainment, and it lit a spark inside of her. if she can do it, i can do it too. hyorin had a hard time saying no to her daughter, and reluctantly let jungah audition for some entertainment companies. despite the risk, hyorin couldn't deny that her daughter was super dedicated to her passion. sm entertainment, jyp entertainment, woollim entertainment- all of these auditions were a bust, but jungah didn't let it get her down. she knew she lacked a lot besides dance, but she also knew there had to be some company out there that was willing to take a chance with her. at the age of twelve, jungah finally found it- y.i entertainment.

🌩 best friends, go². go iseul 고이슬, twenty-seven. & member of sowon. & these two went down the enemies to best friends pipeline. much like with hana, jungah was jealous of iseul at first because of all the activities she got to do. it didn't help that she and iseul were similar in some ways which caused them to bump heads quite often. but that is also part of the reason they eventually started to get along so well, the spontaneous girls always knew how to make a good time out of any situation. it wasn't until the idea for WISH came about when the two finally realized their past fighting was stupid and all 100% because of y.i's mistreatment that resulted in misunderstandings. ever since the birth of their own company their friendship has flourished. iseul seems to understand jungah and give her much needed advice even if jungah doesn't want to hear it, and jungah is able to pull iseul away when she's working too hard to go have fun together, sometimes resulting in unprompted mani-pedi time. the only time the two bump heads these days is when iseul reminds jungah to be more careful with her free time, in which case jungah will mumble that she can take care of herself. 

🌩 frenemies? park hana 박하나, twenty-four. & member of sowon. & hana and jungah did not get along in the early days of sowon, even up until now. jungah thought hana was too quiet, hana thought jungah was too obnoxious and rash. there was something about hana that rubbed jungah the wrong way, but she couldn't exactly pinpoint what- it very well could of just been jungah's jealousy that prompted her to nitpick certain aspects of hana and deem them sketchy. jungah couldn't help but be jealous of the younger girl for how much attention and opportunities y.i gave her. it's not like the two of them had heart-to-heart conversations for jungah to find out hana was being pushed into an image that she didn't want, but to be honest young jungah wouldn't of cared anyway. it wasn't until after leaving y.i and forming WISH that jungah tried to give hana a chance, the girls basically see each other more than their own families and jungah wanted to feel the sisterhood bond she has with the other girls with hana. it's not easy given how untrusting jungah is and how reserved hana is, and out of all the girls hana is one of the most disproving of jungah's behavior which does anger jungah quite a bit. at this point it looks like only iseul can bring these two girls together. 

🌩 former leader, occasional acquaintance. park yujin (u.jin) 박유진, twenty-nine. & ex-member of sowon. & if you had asked in past, jungah would've been a bit salty that yujin left sowon behind. current jungah totally understands her reasonings and to be honest even young jungah never held a grudge over it, she never had any sort of problems with yujin like she did with yuri. i guess you could say early jungah felt that yujin should've advocated more for her as the group's leader, she felt like yujin didn't have her back when it came to the staff mistreating jungah. sure jungah can take care of herself and kept all of her problems internalized instead of telling yujin but aren't leaders supposed to know these things? she realized a few years later how silly her mindset was and that yujin was dealing with her own problems at the time and had so much to juggle all at once. they only actively promoted together for a year so the two didn't get very close before yujin left. over the years the two have spoke briefly, always positively and friendly. they only hung out once or twice, and it was always with iseul or another member. jungah and yujin aren't close by any means but there certainly isn't any bad blood between them either.

🌩 too broke to fix? lee yuri 이유리, twenty-four. & ex-member of sowon. & yuri and jungah never really got along- to be fair, neither of them truly made the effort. both girls are similar in the sense that they had strong walls surrounding themselves, so an interaction between these two was few and far between. jungah couldn't stand it when yuri complained about being less popular and pushed to the side- in jungah's albeit selfish opinion, she had it much worse than yuri so how dare she complain? jungah is the one who gets the weird stylings, jungah is the one who is insulted by staff for absolutely no reason, what right does yuri have to be upset? of course jungah kept  this to herself but this all came to a head the day of the fated argument. some other girls might have had beef with yuri so it's unclear who exactly instigated the argument but jungah snapped and was all too happy to jump in and tell yuri to shut up and be grateful that she's ignored and not tormented like jungah was. needless to say, after yuri's departure the two haven't spoken much if at all. unlike isuel, jungah does feel a bit guilty about everything- a few years of aging made her realize that y.i was awful period, it didn't have to turn into a competition of who has it worse. they probably could've been friends if they had actually talked about their struggles together. perhaps in the future the two can reconcile, but it doesn't appear that it will happen anytime soon.

🌩 sowon. somehow the impossible happened, jungah actually has really close friends- though friends is an understatement, sowon is her family. these girls are the only close female figures in her life besides her mom and jungah doesn't know what she would do without them, their love and support kept her sane when y.i pushed her to the limits. though it's hard for jungah to see outside of her own self sometimes, she is truly proud how far these girls have come and looks at them with admiration now instead of the jealousy of the past. despite being on the younger side of the group jungah is hardly viewed as part of the maknae line and instead is one that would baby the others. sometimes the girls forget jungah isn't older because she usually takes on the role of unnie (except when it comes to iseul because of her older sister vibes). because they went through hell and back together, jungah is fairly protective of the girls and won't hesitate to defend them. it's hard for jungah to commit to others but jungah has fully committed herself to sowon and she has no regrets about it. 

🌩 ocassional fling. park hyungsik 박형식, twenty-eight. & actor, ex-member of z:ea & cute, dorky, funny, mischievous, out-spoken, impulsive. & jungah met hyungsik in 2010 but the two didn't start hooking up until around 2013, honestly if you had asked the two of them how they met you would get different stories. it was all such a blur, given their relationship was defined only by fun late night antics at first. over time though they began hanging out outside of the nightlife scene and began growing closer as a result. jungah would never admit that hyungsik is almost like a friend to her now, in fact if she wasn't as blind the two could be best friends. besides the physical aspects there's just something about them that works, something that isn't romantic in the slightest and is rather wholesome, ironically. he can tell when jungah is in a mood just by taking one look at her, and hyungsik knows exactly what to do to cheer her up. likewise, jungah seems to subconsciously care for him, reminding him to eat and even cooking for him whenever he'd get busy. while jungah is delusional, hyungsik sees how close they are but prefers being labeless and free. in fact, he loves their relationship and can't wait to return from the military to pick up where they left off. 

🌩 cutest acquaintance. kim taehyung 김태형, twenty-four. & member of bts. & mature yet eccentric, kind, affectionate, over-thinker, cold, moody. & these two met in 2015 when sowon and bts were promoting at the same time. it's funny because if you asked taehyung or jungah who their friends are they probably wouldn't include each other on their list but yet they always seem to run into each other and hang out. award shows, music shows, salons- jungah and taehyung have run into each other way too many times to count that it's become an inside joke between the two. there was even a dispatch photo of the two outside of a coffee shop recreating the spiderman pic because they couldn't believe they spotted each other once again. they eventually did exchange numbers and have grown to be acquaintances, and could very well grow into being friends if they spent more time together. bts aren't the party types but whenever there's an event the two are attending, the night wouldn't be complete without one finding the other and teasing them about it. taehyung is one of the few male idols in jungah's life that hasn't expressed any physical interest in her and that's one of the reasons she's feels slightly more comfortable around him. their relationship is mostly goofs and laughs and the occasional moment where jungah babies him because his pout is a weapon of mass destruction. another inside joke between the two is that taehyung is jungah's unintentional wingman because he introduced her to both wooshik and hoseok. "jungah, love you but if you sleep with another one of my friends i have to block you." - a actual voice memo he sent to jungah.

🌩 parents. go hyunjae & jung hyorin, 51 & 47. & lawyer & retired baker. & stern, detached, private / kind, enthusiastic, headstrong. & jungah doesn't speak to her father anymore, she used to contact him over the phone in the early debut days but the man sounded so inconvenienced to be on the phone with her that jungah eventually just stopped. she only had one missed call from him, on her 19th birthday, but other than that it has been radio silent from his side as well. on one hand, the rational part of jungah's mind knows she wouldn't be where she was today without him paying for her lessons, but she also knows without her mother's warmth and support she could've chosen the wrong path in her life- no matter what counter argument she could come up with, it all had the same outcome- the loyalty to her mother is far more important than the father figure jungah craves in her life, a position that won't even be filled by hyunjae anyway seeing as how little interested he is in it. jungah to this day is still close with her mother, though jungah ended up buying her a house in daegu (hyorin's hometown) so visits aren't as often as phonecalls. there are a few imperfect things about their relationship, of course that's just reality- hyorin used to vent to her daughter about hyunjae during the divorce which jungah was far too young to hearing, but is probably why the young girl grew up so protective over her mother. it' not perfect, but jungah still treasures the relationship she has with hyorin.

TRAINEE AND IDOL LIFE.
trainee life for jungah was as difficult as she expected, maybe a little worse. her pre-trainee dance lessons after school were never easy but the trainee system is x100 more intense and it was a struggle to keep up at first. she quickly caught up with dance given her experience, and vocal lessons weren't the worst either, but rap was something she struggled with even up to debut. she recalls crying when she found out one of her positions would be lead rapper. refusing to be the embarrassment of her group, jungah trained hard to improve her rap so her position wouldn't go to waste. that being said, even to this day jungah is the definition of an "idol rapper." there were many nights jungah wanted to just pack it all up and go home, one too many days where a teacher was particularly harsh with her and even said horrible things, but the young girl persevered, especially since a lot of the girl trainees were friends and were surprisingly supportive. jungah heard horror stories of trainees being brutal and competitive, but oddly enough the only people jungah had troubles with were staff.

in 2008, after two years of being a trainee and after her 14th birthday, jungah had found herself her first boyfriend. it was a male trainee her age, of course the instructors and managers did their best to keep the trainees separated, but they always found ways. during lunch they would sneak notes and sometimes even sneak out at night, or text for hours and hours on end. this boy weaseled his way into jungah's heart, and the young girl was hopeful at the time. her perception of love was skewed due to her upbringing, but a big part of her still believed it existed, and she wanted it. a few months go by but in young love terms it might as well have been years, jungah was so infatuated with this boy who whispered sweet words of a future where they stay together forever, jungah was simply on cloud nine even when training got rough. it all came crashing down when a few girls in jungah's dorm began talking about their own boyfriends, who sounded awfully familiar, and after comparing notes it became apparent that they were all (jungah included) seeing the same boy.

the sun was still shining, earth was still spinning but if you had told jungah the world was ending she would've believed you. jungah had confronted him along with the other girls and broke it off with him, and it felt like her universe was crashing down. nobody was there to tell her that first loves aren't perfect, most loves aren't perfect, so in her mind what happened to her and her mom was solid evidence that love, at least romantic kind, didn't exist. jungah always had walls put it up but they were reinforced stronger after this, she even started drifting away from her friends. jungah found it hard to trust anyone after that point, because what's the use? things slowly started looking up for her after debut, but it was still no easy feat- jungah didn't allow herself to get close to her group at first, and that resulted in tensions right off the bat. preparing for debut and the promotions that followed it worked jungah to the bone, but she was more encouraged by the fact that she finally debuted- it was all worth it, just to be able to say that.

words of encouragement couldn't change how awful y.i entertainment was. most of the staff treated jungah horrendously, and she never knew why- from debut to 2015 jungah was always the punching bag of sowon and it still haunts her nightmares occasionally. there never seemed to be a specific reason- they just didn't like her. jungah was a confident girl but there's only so much one can take. she always got the weird hair or the ugly outfits and never any solo promotions, at least until yujin left. y.i were trying anything and everything to take attention off of the scandal, and one of those things included jungah recording an ost. it didn't really make sense given her positions but the staff were just throwing at a wall and seeing what stuck. this is what began jungah's journey into osts, the only solo activity y.i was willing to give her despite her and the fan's pleas. until 2015 jungah was just trying to make the best of everything, group promotions were sometimes fun but she would get hit with another ost and then go party to drink away her woes, fall into bed with whomever she found and then get scolded by y.i the next day for being reckless. up until sowon left y.i, jungah was numb 24/7.

yuri's departure in 2012 made her look at her groupmates a bit differently but it wasn't until sowon all agreed to leave y.i that jungah realized how close she had gotten with (some of) her members. it shocked her because she thought she was a pro at keeping others at arms-length, but it seems time combined with going through hell brought people together. WISH entertainment was a fresh start for them all, and the other girls went on to thrive, but where was jungah? still in the booth recording osts. change is really hard, as much as jungah was looking forward to pursuing other ventures, osts were a safety net. it was familiar, it was comfortable, it was all she knew. participating on shows and getting more involved with lyrics and choreography helped her out of her rut tremendously, and jungah grew to be super passionate in participating in sowon's artistry, but there was still an itch there that needed to be scratched. around 2018, jungah daydreamed about two potential paths that seemed amazing to her- starting an official solo career, or opening her own dance academy. these dreams swirled in her mind but jungah still accepted osts and did nothing to chase them. 2019 can be different- solo, dance academy, both? jungah still can't decide, but she wants nothing more than to close the ost chapter in her book.

PRE-DEBUT.

🌩 2009. "i like you." — u-kiss. / nh media used a mix of their own trainees and unpaid extras for the music video for this song, jungah lied about her age to be in it. it was filmed about a month before sowon debuted but was released around the same time of their debut, so jungah was hoping she would be recognized in the mv (but it was 2 pixels and you could barely see her).

POST-DEBUT.

"should i confess?" / ost for playful kiss. y.i tried vigorously to find schedules for the girls that would distract from their scandal. they nabbed this ost opportunity for jungah, but the song didn't chart or get much attention, similar to the drama itself which was mostly popular internationally. additionally she was still a rookie and her voice didn't compare to iseul or the lead vocalists so she found it difficult to record. / originally soloist soyou.

🌩 2009 — present. dating rumors. / true/false. / these are par for the course when being an idol, and jungah has had many, many of these rumors. most notably are the articles about taehyung, their dispatch coffee shop photo going viral and enraging armys around the world. then there was a photo of jungah spotted leaving hyungsik's apartment that made waves as well. hooking up isn't technically dating so all of these are of course, false. in recent years rumors of jungah's promiscuity have been floating around on forums but haven't been picked up by any major news sites thankfully. 

🌩 2012 — present. party lifestyle. / true/false. / as said previously, there have been a decent amount of articles criticizing jungah for her partying and otherwise rash behavior, it drives some netizens crazy how she seems to get off scot-free but those who follow jungah know it's hard to resist her charm. though some male fans have dropped jungah as their bias over the years because she doesn't represent their ideal woman, plus paired with the dating rumors some of them find it hard to defend her anymore.
 

🌩 2012. members of girl group sowon spotted arguing in public, attacking member yuri? / true/false. / though "attack" is a strong word, the notorious argument that led to yuri's departure did of course happen, with jungah being one of the main figures in said argument. more is explained in the relationship section with yuri. at the time there were some negative comments about jungah's involvement in the situation but it's largely forgotten nowadays, could see a resurgence though if dug and brought to the surface once again.

🌩 2014. sowon's jungah is a feminist? spotted with obscene phone case. / true/false. / the "obscene" phone case in question simply contained the quote "the future is female." you would think jungah committed a felony with the responce from male fans. for some of them this was the last straw, either moving to a new bias or leaving the fandom altogether. feminism is seen as something controversial in south korea and jungah knows this, but she to this day holds firm that she didn't deserve the backlash that she got. y.i and jungah never made a statement but chose instead to let the article eventually blow over, but some comments really struck a nerve with her (a common narrative from male netizens was that it was hypocritical for jungah to be a feminist given that she "throws herself at men constantly.") on the plus side, a lot of women, especially in korea, became fans of jungah because of this, her support being a comfort to them.

🌩 2019. sowon's jungah and bts' hoseok spotted together on arcade date! are they dating? / true/false. / bts and sowon were on tour in the united states at the same time and thought it would be a bit easier to go out in public in the u.s given that they usually only hung around in each other's apartments or ventured out into seoul at 3am when everything is closed. they wore masks and hats but of course were spotted still, nothing too crazy for jungah but bts have a spotless record so it was surprising for hoseok to be so spontaneous. both companies denied the dating allegations and simply stated that they were friends, some armys were not impressed still and left nasty comments under jungah's socials for awhile. labeled as true but they were not a couple at the time, despite the obvious romantic feelings. also despite the fact that i used past-tense this could be something that happens in the story, or it could be before the story starts, up to you guys!

phew. this app was definitely a journey!! the date of the blogpost gives it away, but i started working on jungah when you first started sowon. i've lost inspiration for her and changed pretty much everything except her personality because i really do love her crazy . but because of the big change please do let me know if some things don't make sense, i've proofread it a bunch but i wouldn't be surprised if i missed something. also i always say this on my gg apps asdfgh but i notoriously with talent twins so i'm hoping i did alright with hers!! im super happy i was able to get jungah together on time, can't wait to learn more about sowon! c: p.s if u need soyeon selfie pics her insta is @lsoyeonb!
