Unchanging

I think I'll keep using the blogs to post the unfinished works that I'm sure I will never try my hand at again, drafts, works I'm unsatisfied with and won't try to make peace with them (childish, I know), or works that simply don't fit with what I usually post. At least here they're public to the people who they were made for in the first place, it's home. Even if their form is not what I'd like.

The previous blog post was about the one-shot where I tried to tackle how would Chorong deal with her sentiments and her religion, a very personal take. This one, it is an unfinished work where I had no idea where I was heading. Initially, it's purpose was to be part of the Chobom Christmas Event, but as I was writing down some ideas, it never felt very Christmasy; in fact, it doesn't feel like it has a theme at all.

This is all direct situations, broken dialogues and mainly only ideas jotted down (you will notice it in the sentences, they are all very straight and repetitive). But as it is, is better to be in this place that lost in a folder within my laptop.

Chorong hissed as she stubbed her toe on the corner of a box. She had been trying to get Naeun to put them away all week, but they were still littering the living room. Every Christmas their fans would send thoughtful but numerous gifts for them and this year Naeun received an exhausting amount. If the boxes didn't get moved to her room soon, Chorong was going to move them herself. The only thing that had stopped her so far was Naeun promising every day to do it.

"I did the same thing twice so far today," Namjoo said, walking up beside her to take a peek to see if she's hurt. "And when Eunji tried to go the restroom last night, she knocked over that pile over there."

Chorong looked to where Namjoo nodded and saw that one of the boxes had obviously ripped open. "So that's what woke me up last night."

"What are we talking about?" Eunji asked, looking at them from her spot on the couch.

"Naeun unintentionally endangering our lives," Namjoo replied, walking over and sitting on the arm of the chair. "I couldn't imagine having even more clutter than what we have right now."

"I wouldn't go that far Joo, but she does need to put up these boxes."

"Where are Naeun and Hayoung?" Chorong questioned.

"Naeun is checking some art supplies and Hayoung went out with her," Eunji answered.

There was a knock on the door and Chorong walked over to slide it open. Yookyung was on the other side of the door, looking hassled, and Chorong frowned at the sight. The other girl walked in without saying a word and headed straight for the armchair, which she practically threw herself into.

"Bad day?" Eunji guessed.

"You have no idea," Yookyung looked troubled.

"What's wrong?" Chorong asked, sliding the door shut.

"Finals are taking a toll on me and I couldn't go to my dorm after class because my roommate was having with her boyfriend," And by Yookyung's face, that was a common incident. "I thought about just walking in, but I really don't want to see either of them ever again."

"Maybe they would have the decency to cover themselves this time," Chorong commented.

"I doubt it."

"Well, you can stay here as long as you need to," Chorong stated, joining everyone else in the living room.

"At least she's going home tonight," Yookyung remarked.

"Believe me, if we could take you so you could move in with us, we would," Namjoo replied.

Yookyung sighed. "It's okay. I did want the full college experience, after all."

"But you probably thought you would be able to enter your room without seeing bare butts…" Namjoo rambled off, side-eyeing Chorong.

"Yeah," Yookyung had the feeling that the last sentence was more about what poor Namjoo had been witness of than her own situation with her roommate.

Speaking of what poor Namjoo had seen.

"Rong unnie, where is Bomi?"

"She went out with her friends but she'll be here later on."

"Namjoo and I are going to see a movie tonight," Eunji suddenly pronounced, looking at Yookyung with warm eyes. She'd always look at her the same way. "Would you like to come?"

"Only the three of us?"

"Well, we thought we would clear out of the apartment and give Chorong and Bomi some privacy for tonight. The rest of the month will be packed."

Chorong blushed. "I would appreciate that."

Namjoo smiled. "Actually, Naeun may be coming with us, so that'd make four of us."

"She is?" Eunji's brows reached her hairline.

"It's what she said," Namjoo shrugged.

"Do you have any idea what they're making in there?" Namjoo could feel her nostrils filled with the smell and she was eager for a plate. She did skip lunch after all.

"No," Chorong replied, wearing the same expression of wonder. "Whatever it is, it smells amazing."

Namjoo huffed. "I don't know why Eunji won't just tell me."

"They want it to be a surprise," Chorong said, smiling. "I think it's sweet."

"Who cares about sweet," Hayoung said, rolling her eyes. "It has to taste good. Better than yours, at least."

"I kinda liked it," Naeun declared.

"It was burnt Naeunnie."

Naeun shrugged. "I like burnt."

"I don't think Namjoo and I did that bad of a job," Chorong exclaimed with an indignant puff coming out of her lips. She resisted the need to stomp her foot.

It was a lie; she knew their meal last week was terrible and hoped they would never have to cook together again. It had been Eunji's idea; one night a week, if they weren't in schedule, they would all have dinner together, which they would take turns cooking. With such busy lives, she thought it might be good to set aside one night to catch up with each other instead of just using the dorms to sleep.

"I'll be right back," Chorong walked from the living room to the kitchen, smiling at the sight of her girlfriend in the kitchen. She was laughing at something and looked incredibly relaxed as she chopped up some green peppers. She loved Bomi more than she ever thought possible, and to see her happy like this made Chorong happy in return.

"Hey," Bomi greeted, looking her way with sparkling eyes. Bomi's eyes were her favourite.

"Hi," Chorong breathed, walking up to Bomi, and wrapping her arms around the black-haired girl's waist. "Any chance you'll tell me what you're making?"

"Not a chance," Bomi said with a laugh.

"I thought I would try," Chorong said, smiling as she kissed Bomi's shoulder. "Whatever it is, it smells amazing."

"Well, let's just hope it tastes amazing too," Eunji was fumbling with the chicken and for a second Eunji pondered if it was possible that the chicken was alive.

"At least it can't be any worse than last week," Chorong conceded.

"True," Bomi smiled truthfully.

"You were not supposed to agree with that!" Chorong exclaimed, punching Bomi's side not so lightly. Bomi only laughed the pain away.

"You know I love you babe and that I love whatever you cook, " Bomi turned into Chorong's arms, abandoning the food for a moment and facing the brunette, "but you two kind of messed it up a little last week."

Chorong pouted, ashamed that her cooking skills, something in which she takes great pride in, have been questioned this far.

The black-haired girl's heart swelled at the sight, guilt nagging at the back of her head. She spoke softly. "You know we're just teasing you, right? You're the best cook and we are exaggerating a mistake for fun."

Chorong nodded begrudgingly, but Bomi could see how the features of her face relaxed.

"Since you won't tell me what you're making for dinner, can you at least tell me what activity you have planned for later?" Chorong questioned, basking in the tenderness she could see reflected in her girlfriend's eyes.

Bomi shook her head. "That's a secret, too."

Eunji also thought it would be a fun idea to always do something after dinner and the pair that cooked would also be the ones to determine the activity for the night. Last week Namjoo and Chorong opted to go to a karaoke place.

"Well, if you need any help with anything, just let me know," Chorong said, kissing Bomi's cheek.

"Can you let everyone know that dinner should be ready in about forty-five minutes?"

"You just want me to be the bearer of the news so Namjoo gripes to me and not you, don't you?" Chorong narrowed her eyes.

Bomi smiled sweetly. "Please?"

That definitely was cheating. Chorong could never deny that smile anything.

"Fine."

"A nibble?" Hayoung scoffed. No one uses that word. "Who would ever know the answer to that?" Hayoung threw the card down. "I don't like this game."

"You're just mad you're losing," Yookyung singsonged.

"No, this game is terrible," Hayoung argued.

"It's okay Hayoung-ah," Naeun rubbed Hayoung's shoulder. "We'll catch up."

"I think we need a break," Hayoung stated, standing up.

"Okay, five minutes break," Bomi announced.

"Eunji and I are still going to kick your ," Namjoo said, smirking. "It doesn't matter how long you put it off."

Hayoung eyed Namjoo and then walked away. Chorong laughed and shook her head; almost everyone in the room was very competitive, so playing any game was often dangerous. Namjoo and Hayoung, in particular, were always trying to beat each other, which meant they were both sore winners and sore losers. Chorong was competitive about a lot of things, but she liked to just enjoy games when she played them, not really worried about winning or losing.

"Are you having fun?" Bomi's tone was gentle as she nudged Chorong with her shoulder.

"I am," Chorong replied. "I'm glad you brought this game with you."

"I thought maybe a board game was a little lame, but Eunji thought it would be fun."

"It is," Chorong assured her.

"I just hope Namjoo and Hayoung don't kill each other by the end of the game," Bomi shuddered.

Chorong laughed lightly.

"I'm actually happy Eunji suggested this night get-together," Yookyung stated. "It's nice knowing I'll always get to spend time with my friends at least once a week."

"Yeah," Bomi agreed. "I just wish you could come every week Yookyung-ah."

"I wish you could, too," Chorong affirmed, laying her head on Bomi's shoulder, hugging her arm.

"You could always drop out of school," Bomi joked.

"You could."

Yookyung snickered. "Who really needs an education, right?"

"Don't ask us," Chorong said, shrugging. "We just sing and dance all day."

Bomi laughed. It wasn't every day that Chorong would joke about their jobs. She was always trying to prove herself and her job field. It was heart-warming to see her comfortable enough to joke about it.

Bomi took one of Chorong's hands off her arm to intertwine it with her own. Bomi liked to hold Chorong's hand.

"I think I'm going to throw up," Hayoung suddenly exclaimed.

Chorong rolled her eyes. "Can you grab a box on your way to the bathroom?"

"Yes, please do," Namjoo chimed in, causing Hayoung to narrow her eyes.

"You know, if we all grabbed a box or two we could have the living room cleaned up," Eunji suggested.

"You can do whatever you want—after I win this game," Hayoung said, leaning back on her elbows.

"Care to make a bet?" Eunji asked, raising her eyebrows. "If you win, we'll carry the boxes; you and Naeun don't have to help. If Namjoo and I win, you have to take them all into your bedroom tonight without any help."

Hayoung cocked her eyebrows. "Why would I agree to that when you're already going to take them in?"

"So, you think you're going to lose then?"

"No," Hayoung replied, scoffing.

"Then what do you have to lose?"

Hayoung rolled her eyes. "Fine, but when I win, you also have to clean mine and Naeun's room."

"Deal," Eunji smirked.

"What are you guys waiting for?" Hayoung cheered, clapping her hands together. "The faster we play, the faster I win."

"I think we will all win if we don't have to stumble over those boxes all day," Chorong whispered, leaning into Bomi.

"Eunji said the girls are going out to watch a movie," Chorong was staring at Bomi, to gauge her reaction.

"Like, tonight? Isn't it pretty late already?" Bomi stared back, her eyebrows rising in doubt.

"Well, they aren't going to be the only ones staying up…"

Bomi was silent, confusion etched in her face and Chorong could feel her cheeks burning with each passing second it took for the black-haired girl to understand her underlying tones. For something that Bomi is so eager to do, she sure is slow to take the bait.

"Oh..." Could it be? Bomi took another glance at her girlfriend's demeanour. Chorong was slowly transitioning from shy to exasperate. "Oh," Bomi's gaze shot up directly to see if Chorong was serious.

"Yes," Chorong finally breathed.

Bomi's smile got so huge that it was threatening to break the black-haired girl's face.

"Do you two ever stop being so disgustingly in love?" Namjoo was unimpressed. Through the years, she had been the one subjected the most to Bomi and Chorong's love parade.

"No," Bomi proudly shook her head, planting one loud kiss to Chorong's cheek.

"I'm afraid it's the only way we know how to be," Chorong grinned.

"Leave them alone," Eunji intervened, tapping Namjoo's arm.

"Sorry, I felt like someone needed to comment on them since Hayoung is sorting the boxes and isn't here to make a remark."

Chorong laughed. "You are supposed to be the good child, there is no need to fill for another position."

"Yes, let's all just relax and enjoy our nice, quiet, clutter-free dormitory." Eunji boasted before taking a large gulp from her drink.

"For which I cannot thank you enough," Chorong smiled at Eunji.

Despite being quite far behind Hayoung and Naeun, Eunji and Namjoo managed to beat them in the end. Hayoung was not happy, claiming that the other two had to have cheated somehow, but after many accusations, threats, a lot of grumbling and Yookyung leaving amidst the war happening in the living room, Hayoung eventually moved all the boxes into her room. Chorong figured they would sit in there, unpacked for a long time.

"I'll be right back," Bomi whispered to Chorong.

"Now if we could only find a movie," Namjoo said, tilting her head as she scrolled through the options.

"I still vote for Sinister," Eunji shrugged, the popcorn bowl in her lap nearly empty.

"And Chorong and I still veto it," Namjoo reminded her.

"The last time I saw that movie I had nightmares for a week Eunji-ah." Chorong added.

Eunji sighed. "We've been trying to decide on a movie for the past hour and we're no closer to finding one now than when we first started."

"Yes, we are," Namjoo countered. "We now know we're not watching Sinister."

Chorong looked around to see where Bomi had gone and saw her standing in the kitchen. She wasn't looking at anything in particular, just standing there, and Chorong frowned, wondering what she was doing. So, as Namjoo and Eunji continued discussing movie options, Chorong stood and walked towards the kitchen to see what Bomi was doing.

"Is everything okay?" Chorong placed her hand on her girlfriend's back.

Bomi nodded and set a bottle on the counter. "I'm fine."

"Is it your knee?" Chorong asked, glancing at the pill bottle. "Is it bothering you again?"

"I promise I'm fine," Bomi reached out for Chorong's hand. "I just have a small headache."

"Oh," Chorong exhaled in relief.

"You worry about me too much," Bomi smiled at her.

"I worry about you just enough."

"You know, if we're never going to decide on a movie, I think we should do something else," Bomi stated, pulling Chorong closer by her hips.

"What did you have in mind?" Chorong asked.

Bomi's eyebrow rose as she stared at Chorong and the brunette nodded in understanding. "Oh—that."

"Yes, that," Bomi repeated, smirking. Now, who was being slow?

"But what about your headache?" Chorong asked in a hushed whisper.

Bomi brought their lips together and then pulled back, so their mouths were barely a half an inch apart. "Why do you think I took the Advil?"

"I think we finally picked a movie!"

Bomi let out a groan. "They should have stuck to their plans of going out to watch a damn movie." The black-haired girl was about to throw a fit.

Chorong couldn't help but laugh. It made her feel good, how much Bomi still wanted her. "Later tonight; I promise."

Chorong gave Bomi a quick kiss and then turned, pulling her girlfriend back into the living room.

wait ahhh I'm unbelievably happy to read this. The third one of these recent pieces you have, though unfinished, it's really painting something beautifully, and it gives me an insight into a story untold, like a "what if?" situation.

Happy sighs is all I have with these, uweehee.. gosh, I feel so thrilled!! I really love this a lot, love what you've written, in all its fragments there is a story, and these scenes already make more sense than I could ever! Dialogue, sweetness, those simple gestures and movements, the calm and rowdy moments of life between the members, life in the dorm. I seriously admire it so much. After working on my things and constantly reading over lines that start to fly off the page, diving into yours is heavenly. The smile on my face is just soft and squishy, hee

Thank you for posting it, WavingPanda~ nim! Hehe. It does have a home here and it has a home in me! I feel blessed to read it, to think it might not have seen the light of dayyy. Ahh, it's a happy thing for me~
