INTERNATIONAL IDOL / TYSON WOO
Personality traits.
+Positive: Creative, Kind, Social butterfly
-Negative: Clumsy, Daydreamer, Forgetful
Personality.
Tyson is the type of person that is like the brother that always treats their siblings. Whether the members wanna go out to eat, buying snacks or wanna go places; Tyson would make it happen. He would get scolded for always spoiling the other younger contestants that he got to know in the show so he would tone it down a bit for a while. He is also the type of person that would volunteer to do something if no one else wants to do it. Most of the time you would see him doing the dishes since no one else wants to do it. He really looks after the younger contestants and sees them like the siblings he's never had. He loves meeting new people and most of the time start the conversation. Growing up he read a lot of comic books. His favourite hero was Captin America and Thor. He looked up to the two but mainly Captain America due to a sense of bravery and honour the character has. When he was younger he wanted to be just like him; I guess that some of that made its way into his own personality.
He would play the cello in his free time and it's like he gets lost in another world when he's playing the cello or composing music. When this happens it takes a lot to pull him out and back to reality. This also happens when he's listening to jazz music. He can also be forgetful especially when he goes to buy groceries he would always forget something. So everyone ends up writing downs what they need from the supermarket and give the list to him. He remembers when schedules are but would forget when dance practices are.
Background.
Tyson Woo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA on the 18th of April in 1996. His parents were pretty well off so Tyson grew up comfortably. They lived next door to an elderly couple who were later known as the Harrison couple. In his younger years, he used to go over to their house to keep them company and play with their granddaughter Charlotte; his family was always welcome. But as he grew up his parents would always fight, so he would stay over at Harrison's place more often. The elderly couple would play old vinyl records of jazz/swing music ranging between the 1920s to the 1950s which Tyson grew to love. When he turned 13 years old his parents got divorced and his dad got custody over him. From middle school through to high school he would hang around with Charlotte as friends. During 8th grade, he and Charlotte enrolled to an after school academy where he learnt to play the cello while Charlotte learnt how to act.
In senior year of high school while he was exploring New York City University he met with Scott Bradlee and his group of friends. Scott pitched the idea that he was starting a group that takes current pop songs and gives them a jazz spin. Tyson thought it was an awesome idea and asked to join Scott and his friends welcomed him and he really enjoyed it. He ended up doing Art's course in Uni majoring in classical jazz music. Near the end of the second years, he wanted to explore more genre of music and found that kpop was rich in styles of music so he decided to quit uni and told his dad that he wanted to try out in the kpop which his dad supported him. So he flew to Korea and lived with his aunt in Seoul. He tried to audition of JYP but was rejected then auditioned for Maroo Entertainment which he got through.

Trainee Life.
Being trained in jazz and swing music before arriving back in Korea made him noticed by the trainers that trained the trainees. When practising his vocals a unique style shines through his singing which he was praised for. However, he found that he was falling behind the other trainees when in dance practice which is why he spent most of his nights practising until he caught up with the other trainees. While training as a trainee and watching how kpop has grown. Tyson thought that bringing back jazz to the mainstream would give him a sense of originality and uniqueness. So he would not only compose music that would suit the mainstream media but he would find a way to add the jazz/swing background that he grew up with. He ended up quitting since he felt Maroo Entertainment wasn't the right choice and that they weren't supporting as they claim to be.

Hello! Could you please introduce yourself?
Hi everyone. I'm Tyson Woo. *He says as she waves both of her hands like this.*
Why did you decide to audition for International Idol?
I decided to audition because I wanted to continue learning and exposing myself to different genres within Kpop. As well as continuing to grow as an artist.
What was your audition song?
My auditions was an original song that I created a while back called Suit & Tie.
What do you believe sets you apart from the other contestants?
My original background in music is more classical and my upbringing is more influenced by Jazz. So I guess that I am more of a person that looks more towards the past for inspiration.
What skill or skills are you most confident in?
I guess my most confident skill is my vocals since I've been training them for a long time. Even though I've had more classical training.
If given the chance, what skill would you like to show off and if that skill wasn't available for whatever reason, what other skill would you pick?
If I get the chance I would love to play the cello for everyone to hear and maybe even tap dance since I love it so much.
What concepts do you prefer and what ones don't you like?
I prefer concepts that are inspired by music from past decades; preferably the 1920s - 1950s. But I'm up to trying a whole range of concepts.
If you were in a group with a concept you didn't like and were given the chance to switch to one with a concept that suits you better, would you switch or stay with your group?
Like I've said before I am up to trying a whole range of different concepts since I want to expose myself to different areas of kpop. So I would probably stick to it till the end.
What amount of members do you think the winning group should have?
Hmm... I would say about 11 people would be reasonable.
If you won, how do you think you would react?
I would be surprised if I am anywhere near the top much less win.
And on the other side of that, if you lost, how do you think you would react?
I would be fine since I joined the show to expose my self to more genres within kpop and grow as an artist. I would be happy with any rank I end up with.
Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to your mentors, other contestants or the audience?
I am a bit of a handful but I hope that everyone is looking to my performance.
Thank you for participating in our interview today! We wish you the best of luck!
