I'm young and dumb and quite don't understand the concept of cultural appropriation. I read a couple of articles on the topic so I can better understand it, but the boundaries are still in the grey area and I don't know if I'l offend someone or over step boundaries I may not know.

I'm bring this up because there is a hair style I want to do, and consulting some people made me hesitant whether I want to try it. The hair style is just two braids on the side of my head and letting the rest of my hair down. It's supposedly similar to viking braids (which symbolizes rank and status) or close to cornrows (I read somewhere that if it's 3 braids, it holds some cultural significance so I'm trying 2 to steer away from offending anyone).

I'm a softie at heart and really don't want to hurt anyone due to my insensitivity, so before I even attempt doing this hairstyle, I'm asking here if it would be cultural appropriate to try it out knowing it could have possible significant and the fact I'm not acknowledging it or I'm really just overthinking this.
