Personality. 

Skylar is a fun-loving, loud and energetic person; the type of person that would go all out when trying to let loose. With her EDM music background it is easy to understand why she is like this. Especially while on stage, she is the main person that would be the person to hype up the audience till the whole venue is lit. No matter where was or what time of day it is; she could turn it in a party, it was like a gift. She is the person who would go on crazy adventures and takes (sometimes drag) others along with her. The energy and atmosphere that she felt when she had a chance to DJ at the different music festivals is something that she wants to recreate so others are able to experience. Another thing that she is good at is keeping people together; it's could either be her friends or her group she would make it so everyone feels connected. She does this in the group be getting the quieter members a chance to speak and by protecting her groupmates however she can. She is quite adventurous when it comes to trying out different concepts or other music styles.

But with the type of energy that she has, she could sometimes come off as being careless or even reckless. she falls over all the time, especially while on stage this is due to the energy that she's getting from the audience making her not really mindful of where she takes her next step. her upbeat and energetic nature can also be a bad thing usually when the other members want some peace and quiet Skylar would be considered loud and annoying during these times. On the outside, she might seem like she doesn't give a about anything and with some stuff she might not. but with the stuff that she really cares about, like her worries and fears she unintentionally keeps it inside because she's scared that if it started to reflect her outer appearance as well as inside her then she might explode.

Background.

Skylar's parents lived in Xi'an, China it wasn't until 1992, three years before she was born her father got a job offer in the same company that he was already working in but in Amsterdam. He took it and moved with his wife to Amsterdam and 6 months after he was offered the job, he and his wife settled into their new home in Amsterdam. So Skylar was born on the 14th of August, 1996 in Amsterdam and was mostly raised by her mother while her father focused on working so the family can live comfortably. However, when she was 10 years old her mother died due to cancer. Her father was devastated because he realised that he was so focused on work that he didn't really try to put aside time to spend with his wife and child. So from that day on, he tried his best to be a big part of Skylar's life. At the age of 13, she started taking dance lessons and what she learned it was mainly hip hop dance. But when the dance style called cutting shapes which is a form of shuffle started getting popular in Europe. Skylar started taking dance lessons to learn the dance techniques and after that, her dance teacher told her to use the dance technique to turn it into her own style.

Over the years Skylar developed an interest in house music and EDM; listening and creating music of her own. So in senior years of high school, she sent demos of her music and an application to music label spinnin' records. They were really impressed with the music she created so she was accepted. While working in on finding her own unique style she met Martin Garrix; another aspiring young DJ who joined a year before her which she really connected with even though she found that both of their sounds of music were different. After training under spinnin' for a few months she met another young DJ named Isaac Williams. He was a nice and sweet guy and also became friends. So her, Martin and Isaac became close friends. So around two years and 6 months, Isaac and Skylar became a couple which Martin was really happy for them. But Isaac had darker intentions. In all honesty, he was dating Skylar because she was a talented music producer and he wanted to steal her work. So the two dated for not even a year before he took his plan into action and stole a third of Skylar's music that she worked on over the past 3 years. To top it all off he accused her of stealing music from him. Luckily it was kept within the walls of the record label since Skylar and Isaac were still underground DJs that haven't debut yet. But the higher-ups of Spinnin' Records hear this and they were both summoned to a board meeting with the higher-ups. The whole thing took hours and no matter how much Skylar defended herself it got to a point where they would rather listen to Isaac's lies rather than to her. The same thing happened to martin last year with the record label taking his music. So with a heavy heart, she tore up her contract and cussed at Isaac stating it's over as she walked out of the board room like the boss she is. Once she was out of the building she called martin and explained what happened. They met up and he comforts her. After that day she spent about two months at home not doing anything but cry or just wallow in sadness before realising that she needs to spend time away, like a change in scenery. She needed to be in a fresh start in a new place. With her father's help, she ended up moving to Seoul, South Korea. Which is a place that their family has history and also a place to start new. There she was sent to live with her aunt. So just a few days before she was supposed to leave Spinnin' records contacted her saying that one of the vocalists that she worked with exposed Isaac of stealing Skylar's music and his contract got terminated. They also told her that they are offering her got compensation for what she went through, giving her music back and a new contract. She rejected the contract and continued her plans for South Korea. She was able to find a job at a small cafe after two weeks of moving to Korea. After staying a few months in Seoul she started to feel more like herself again thanks to her aunt. She was really grateful that her aunt was there to listen to what she was going through and her suggestions on how to cope with the pain and sadness she was feeling. While settling into her new life in Korea she ended up getting a job at a small cafe just so she's distract herself from her thoughts while earning some money. One day while she was out and about in Seoul she received a flyer for a survival show called International Idol. At first, she was sceptical about it but as she read it she got more interested. When she got home researched about the show and the companies associated with it. Thinking it's something different that might get her out of this emotional ditch she's in she talked about it with her aunt and gave it a week to think about. Her aunt suggested that maybe becoming an idol would be a better path for her than becoming a DJ since she had all those years in dance lesson back in Amsterdam and she has some vocal experience. Thinking that if she makes it as an idol then it would be a whole new experience and it's something to do while she put her DJ career on hold. After thinking about it long and hard she took her chances and went to auditions where she showed her dance and vocal skills hoping for the best.

- Is cranky in the morning but extra crank if someone tries to wake her. But give her about half an hour to an hour after waking up and she will be back to normal

Trivia

- She has been to many EDM festivals different countries such as EDC in the US, Ultra music festival in the US, South Korea, Japan, Brazil and the ones around Europe. But her favourite is Tomorrowland in Belgium.
- She really cares about her fans. She finds that constructive criticism very important; not only from trainers and mentors but also from fans.
-She can only play the one punch man theme song and Armin's theme song from Attack on Titan on the electric guitar. Ask her to play something else on the instrument and she would have no idea.
- She's the most comfortable person to cuddle out of all the members. Whether it be her hugging you in her chest or you are hugging her back she is so comfortable to hug. The other members found this out one time after a long training session. Her group was just so tired so half left while the other half which included Skylar lay on the floor and took a nap in the training room since they couldn't be bothered getting up The ones who ended up cuddling with Skylar seemed like they had the best sleep they ever had and were refreshed when they woke up.

- For Skylar, her’s main goal is to create music and atmosphere that the youth can enjoy. It wouldn’t matter if you were either popular, unpopular, a jock, a nerd you could be whoever you want to be when listening to Skylar’s music or seeing her perform either as an idol or as a DJ. If she ends up becoming an idol she would still continue to create monster dance tracks as a DJ/Producer but if she doesn't make it as an idol during INTERNATIONAL IDOL or things don't work out in the long run then she plans to return to Amsterdam, join another music label (after researching) and continue her career as a DJ.
- Soon after she arrived in Korea she became interested in a music genre called future funk. It's so fascinating to her because not only does it make her want to get up and dance. But this particular style of music gives off a nostalgic retro vibe that seems to draw her in and makes her want to explore the genre even more. Eg. 1, 2, 3 (A/N: I love this genre that I just had to include it in this character somewhere.)
- She cries every time she watches the music video "Shelter" by Porter Robinson. It doesn't matter how many times she's seen it. That music video will always make her cry.
- She has a whole bunch of unreleased tracks that she has created over the years which is considered as her life's work. A bit more then a third of it was stolen by Isaac but later on, was returned back to her ownership.

Relationships. 

Aunt / Kwon Seo-Yeon / 40 / Business Woman / Kind, Caring, Protective / Her aunt Kwon Seo-Yeon never had any of her own kids so she treats Skylar like the daughter she never had. She actually listens to what Skylar is saying and helped her through the aftermath of what had happened before Skylar came to Korea.
 

Best Friend / Martin Garrix / 24 / DJ/Producer / Energetic, Wild, Prankster / She met him while working at Spinnin' Records. He was so energetic that even Skylar gets tired from being around him. He would always invite Skylar on stage at music festivals to join him on the turntables. After his legal battle with Spinnin Records also concerning ownership of music which was a bigger scandal than the one that happened between Skylar and Isaac a year later since he already debuted as an actual DJ. He urged Skylar to quit Spinnin' Records but she hesitated and in the end, it happened to herself. They don't talk as much as they use to after Skylar move to South Korea. But when they meet up after not seeing each other for a long period of time the first thing they would do is jump in a car and go for a drive with no particular destination and would just have a carpool karaoke. After that, they would hang out like they use to.
 

The A-Hole Ex / Isaac Williams / 25 / DJ/Producer (Fraud) / manipulative, backstabber, two-faced / He was a nice and sweet guy to Skylar before and while they were dating. But after he stole one-third of her unreleased music that she had taken years to create and accused her of stealing. Which made her quit Spinnin' Records and put her dream career on hold, she prays to all the forces of the universe that the a**hole stays in the past and out of her life completely. (A/N: You can let him pop up in your story if you want. I just included him here because he caused a major event in the past which indirectly got her to Korea in the first place)

Work Friend / Kim Mi Jin / 21 / Solo Idol / energetic, bubbly, ball of sunshine / Mi Jin and Skylar met just after Skylar settled in Korea with the cafe job. She was the first person Skylar spoke and became friends with. Skylar found that Mi-Jin is the type of person that is kinda a goody goody, someone who is quiet and would only open up to the people after a while of getting to know them. After she became friends with Skylar the two ended up doing a lot of crazy stuff together like prank the other staff, running around the city finding food challenges to being idiots on the streets of Seoul. After a while, Mi-Jin moved to Jelly Entertainment and quit the job at the cafe because of a number of reasons. From there she became a solo artist. But her and Skylar would always find time to hang out and be idiots because Skylar brings out the weird person that she is on the inside.

Trainee Life.
Skylar previous profession was to make music so when she came to this show she found that she was behind all the other contestants. When she was still back in Amsterdam she learned to add vocals to other DJs track most of the time the vocals of the tracks she did were more so to enhance the music. But during this show, she quickly learned to sing so that the vocals were the main aspect of songs. At first, she was a bit scared of going on stage to perform due to the fact that when she was performing on stage back when she was a DJ she was always behind the turntables making music that the audiences could enjoy. But when it came to performing as a kpop idol she felt vulnerable because the stage was open and she wasn't just singing but also dancing. But over time she would get used to the stage her fear would disappear.

Scandals.

2016 / True/False / There were rumours that Martin Garrix was dating an underground DJ and some people thought it was Skylar but both she and Martin denied this saying that it’s so wrong since they both see each other as brother and sister. 

2017 / True/False / Skylar was accused of stealing music that Isaac, her ex created but it was the other way around. Luckily the news stayed within the walls of Spinnin’ Records since Skylar and Isaac were still an underground DJ for the company and hadn’t actually made a debut, unlike her friend Martin had. When Skylar and Isaac her called into the board of the company Skylar two choices; either to ‘give the rights’ the music she ‘stole’ to Isaac or quit. You know what she ended up doing, she tore the contract that was sitting in front of her and slammed it back on the table. “Here’s my answer. I en QUIT!” she said and start walking towards the door. “Have a nice life you backstabbing piece of !!” she yelled back to Isaac and she continued to walk to the elevators eager to step out of the building for good. A couple of months later a vocalist that worked with Skylar at Spinnin’ Records exposed Isaac of stealing Skylar’s music and his contract got terminated. Skylar got compensation and her music back and was offered a new contract to return back to Spinnin’ Records but she declined which is understandable after what she went through and what Martin Went through before her with the same record label.

Hello! Could you please introduce yourself? 

Hello. My name is Skylar. I hope everyone is as pumped as I am

Why did you decide to audition for International Idol? 

Hmmm... Taking a step in a different direction. Trying something new I guess. Either way, I'm literally throwing myself in the deep end.

What was your audition song? 

My audition song is an original creation of mind and it is called All In (A/N: with this choreography) and I choreographed the dance myself.

What do you believe sets you apart from the other contestants? 

Well since my original training background is completely different from everyone else’s in the group my ideas and my approach to things would be different from the stereotypical, mainstream music in the kpop industry. I guess that makes me unique in a type of way.

What skill or skills are you most confident in?

Definitely not rap for sure. Vocals and dance??? I think I would have to say that I am more confident with dance since I've been doing it longer. But let's see which one the fans like better.

If given the chance, what skill would you like to show off and if that skill wasn't available for whatever reason, what other skill would you pick? 

If the chance were given I would like to show my DJ and music producing skills. As well as being able to hype up crowds with my music.

What concepts do you prefer and what ones don't you like?  

I really enjoyed the dark concepts that kpop groups were doing a few years back. It was like kpop was going through its emo stage which was pretty cool for example 4minute with volume up and vixx a bunch of dark theme songs like voodoo doll and hyde. there is also this other idea that I would like to do which I don’t know if you would consider this a concept. But what I really want to do is to explore this one particular genre of music called future funk which I recently became interested in. Since to me, this particular genre of music gives this nostalgic retro feel while getting the blood pumping. It would be interesting if this genre would work in kpop. I can't really think of any concepts that I don't wanna try at the moment.

If you were in a group with a concept you didn't like and were given the chance to switch to one with a concept that suits you better, would you switch or stay with your group? 

That would depend on a few different things such as how badly I don't like the concept and how well the group that I'm a part of can work together.

What amount of members do you think the winning group should have?

I would say between 8 to 12 is good. If it's less then 8 then it's ok but more then 12 is a bit excessive.

If you won, how do you think you would react?

Probably gobsmacked since I don't really expect to win. I'm just here for the experience and providing to fans.

And on the other side of that, if you lost, how do you think you would react?

I'll be ok. Like I've said above I'm here for life experience and to figure out my next steps in life. In the end, I would be happy with how far I would go to this show.
