He is humorous and often deals with any situation by cracking jokes, but sometimes this can come off as rather insensitive in difficult situations. He is known to be fun-loving meaning he’s light hearted and very lively. Simon often likes to say is the life the party.

He’s great at dealing with crisis situations, which he believe comes from his late teens when he was the main guardian of his brother. He’s thick-skinned and takes criticism well, often seeing it as a good thing rather than a bad thing. Simon can also be quite direct but often find it hard to find the right words to express his feelings.

[BACKGOUND]

Simon Hwi Song (born Song Hwi) was born in Gwangju, South Korea on January 26th, 1995. Simon’s early life wasn’t that interesting. He was raised as and only child and pretty much was the same as other children his age. When Simon was five, his mother gave birth to his younger brother, Jasper (town Song Woong). At age seven, Simon’s mother and father decided to pack up the families belongings and move over 8,000 kilometres (8,321 if you want to be exact) from Gwangju, South Korea to Melbourne, Australia. Simon was of course upset, after all, he was leaving all his friends behind and moving to a place where he didn’t even know the language. But his sadness didn’t last for long. Simon’s parents decided to enrol him into vocal and dance classes after they had moved to almost force him to make friends, and lucky for them it worked.

Simon’s life was pretty average after that. He would go to school, met his friends, attend his vocal and dance classes. He lived like many other children and teenagers in Australia. In his teenage years, Simon started to develop a love for history. He could often be found with his nose stuck in a book about some historical event or another or in the library at lunch discovering things about the past. It often shocked people when they found out that his two main hobbies were so different. When Simon entered VCE, he decided to put most of his focus onto history since that was the thing he thought he would be most happy with if he were to study in university (it also seemed like a much more realistic thing for his to pursue over singing). When his final year of high school rolled around, Simon was able to graduate with a high enough ATAR to enter ACU as a modern history major. It was around the same time he had also managed to score a job at a dance studio in the CBD as a dance instructor.

After Simon had graduated high school, his parents had announced their plans to move back to South Korea, asking Simon if he would go with them. It didn’t take him long to tell them that he would rather stay and continue his studies in Australia. Jasper, who had entered High School only a few years before had also strongly refused to go back and Simon, being as close as he was to his younger brother, selfishly also didn’t want him to return. After many long and drawn out discussions, the family agreed to let Jasper stay in Australia with Simon as his guardian. Not too long after the decision was made, Simon and Jasper bid farewell to their mother and father and started life alone. It took quite a bit of adjusting for the then nineteen year old Simon, he had suddenly needed to be the one to attend all of his brothers school meetings and be the one to sign off on everything the boy needed to do, but the two of them managed to get through it.

A couple of years after his parent’s left, Jasper had saw an ad for an audition for a survival show in Korea aimed at international contestants. Jasper quickly ran to his brother and implored Simon to audition with him. The two auditioned and made it on to the show together. It wasn’t long before they were separated and put into different groups. Unfortunately Jasper wasn’t a member of the winning team. Even so, he still supported his brother and was genuinely happy for him. Simon still felt bad, no matter what jasper had said, but he still decided to give it his best!
