APPEARANCE : 

— Sangmi is the epitomy of badass. Coming in at 161 cm and 46,5 kg she´s a fairly short and skinny girl. A lot of her weight lies in her s that are quite a bit bigger than those of your average idol. Her hair is black and bobbed in a blunt cut and she also has quite a few tattoos and piercings. Her tattoos are small but she does have a lot of them of them. She has a moon tattoo between her s, a drawn bow and arrow on her right hipbone, a very small heartbeat line on the back of her neck, the quote "though she be but little she is fierce" on her right side over her ribs, a small dreamcatcher on her left side over her ribs, a small wolf on her left wrist and a world map on her right foot. She does have one big tattoo. A flower backpiece that has branches down onto her left hipbone. In the past she would cover them with heavy duty concealer if they could be seen on camera however after the disbandment of Fiestar, she no longer cares whether they can be seen on not. However for the show she´ll most likely have to cover them up again with heavy duty concealer. She also has a belly button piercing with two dermals above it, and a lot of ear piercings, most notably her industrial on her left ear. FASHION STYLE :

— Sangmi has two distinctly different styles. One idol style that she uses when on stage, when at fan-signs etc. and one which consists of the clothing she actually likes and the clothing she wears when she isn´t being an idol. The clothes she wears in her normal everyday life. However some things are the same. Most of her clothes are designer and has been designer her whole life and her makeup is typically the same. Due to her single-eyelids she´ll often wear quite heavy eyeliner and fake lashes to make her eyes appear bigger. She also likes a red lip. She also sticks to high-end makeup brands. Because why not when your family is rich AF and you´re not lacking in money either? She also typically wears heels (often Christian Louboutin or jimmy choo) and her jewelry is silver and often made by Piaget or Tiffany.
—  Idol style: Sangmi´s idol style is black and black and more black. It´s black ripped jeans, black fishnets, black shorts, black crop tops, black leather jackets, black booties or sneakers. It´s what she finds the most fitting for her position and persona as the y, charismatic rapper. She doesn´t however shy away from adding a colored flannel to her outfits or perhaps a denim jacket and she has been seen in grey shorts and white crop tops at times. As long as most of her outfit is black Sangmi can add a colored piece here and there to spice up the outfit. If she isn´t wearing a crop top you can be sure that whatever top she is wearing is tucked into her pants.

—  Non idol style:  She typically sticks to light colors. Cream, beige, white, light wash denim, dusty rose. Her outfits are typically well put-together but they have varying degrees of formality and femininity. If she can wear a white button up of any kind with something she will want to own it though. And even if her style mostly consists of white and other light colors she doesn´t shy away from black accessories such as bags, belts etc.

Charismatic and flirty: Sangmi is a force to be reckoned with. She´s charismatic, she´s enticing and she´s tempting in a way that´s extremely hard to ignore. She´s also very very skilled in picking out the men that are most likely to give in to her seduction and play along, letting her have her fun. She uses a lot on non-verbal cues without realizing it. She keeps eye-contact, smiles, and angles her body towards her conversations partner if she can. She´s a big flirt and she´s a great flirt also. She has a natural knack for knowing what to say when to be the most effective at seducing and flirting. And she has flirted with basically every male in the kpop industry. These two traits have given her the nicknames “Vixen”, “Tease”, and “Flirt”. She tends to flirt with people and then pull back at the last second, leaving them hanging and wanting and this tends to get on peoples nerves. Especially guys, but at times her members have also had to stop her when she´s gone a little too far with her flirting on variety shows and the like.
Lacks common sense, ditzy and has trouble focusing: Sangmi lacks common sense and is quite forgetful. She´ll brew coffee without a filter and she spaces out a lot. This means she doesn´t really know what´s going on around her at any point and makes her come across as ditzy and perhaps a little dumb. Really she just loses focus easily and spaces out. She isn´t actually dumb. She´s just a little scatterbrained and an airhead. This also means that her answers to questions don´t always make sense or she has to ask the person who asked her a question to repeat said question because she was too spaced out to comprehend what was being said to her. These traits are partly what Sangmi would go on to become known as. The ditzy airheaded member of Fiestar.
Optimistic and annoyingly cheerful: Sangmi approaches life with a constant optimism. Everything´s going to be fine is generally what she believes. She´s upbeat and fun to be around. She has a desire to fully participate in life and she doesn´t take herself or anyone else too seriously. She´s joyful and happy 99% of the time, much to the dismay of some other people. Because being around someone who´s as upbeat and cheerful as Sangmi can get tiring in the long run. But to others her natural enthusiasm and happiness is a gift and reminds them of the pure pleasure of existence. Because Sangmi can find something good in every situation and she always tries to keep others happy and cheerful as well. 
Energetic, excitable, enthusiastic and spontaneus: Sangmi is energetic and has trouble sitting still. She always has to be doing something, much to the annoyance of everyone around her. When she´s forced to sit down for extended periods of time she often bounces her legs or taps her fingers or fiddles with something. This ties into her being easily excitable, because when she´s excited about something she gets even more energetic and talks about it for hours with a loud voice and quite big movements that could possibly knock someone over. This also ties in to her being spontaneous. She can´t stay in the same place for very long, whether that´s the same city or just the same spot in a house. She has to move around and Sangmi adores exploring and adventuring. She does things without thinking about the consequences and if she gets an idea she sets it into motion, no matter what she might have been doing beforehand. She´s impulsive and doing things excites her. She takes pleasure in being spontaneous. She does things unplanned. If She suddenly got the urge to move to Australia she would. Or start an education in art. Or literature. Or anything. She often works by a trial and error method, wanting to try everything to find out what´s best. If for example she is unable to decide whether she wants chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream Sangmi choses all three so she doesn´t miss out on the right one. Sangmi wants to experience as much in her lifetime as possible and this requires sometimes making rash and unplanned decisions. 
Vain: Sangmi is vain. There´s no other way to put it. This ties into people thinking she´s dumb because she cares about the way she presents herself to the world. She knows she looks good (aka is confident) and she takes pride in this. However Sangmi cares a little more than your average person about how she presents herself to the world. This has come from her living the entirety of her adult life and even some of her teenage years in the spotlight. She´s always had to be aware of how people saw her and how she presented herself because idols have to be perfect. Right? 
Curious: Sangmi is generally quite curious. Instead of sitting around and brooding she would much rather go out and experience new things. She isn´t afraid to step outside of her comfort zone, especially not if it means learning something new and she approaches life much like a kid in a candy store. She isn´t afraid to ask if there´s something she wants to know.
Friendly and open: Sangmi is a friendly person. She enjoys making friends, being an extrovert to the max. However often times people will be scared to approach her as she can come across as scary when you first see her. But as soon as you notice her perpetual enthusiasm and optimistic was of being most people warm up to her. She´s interesting and exciting and with her charisma you can´t help but be drawn to her whether you want to or not.

TL;DR: a loveable, cheerful, upbeat, at times airheaded and ditzy, extremely outgoing and friendly girl, with an aura of iness and charisma that you cannot help but be drawn to, but who is in reality just kind of a mess. Everything around her is messy, she zones out and comes across as dumb, she´s spontaneous and does things without thinking about the consequences they might have.

BACKGROUND : Sangmi was born on September 12th, 1994 in Orange County, Southern California to second generation Korean immigrants. She grew up in the gated community of Pelican Crest, located in the Pelican Hill Communities in Newport Coast, Orange County. Pelican Crest is home to some of the most sought after luxury real estate in Southern California due in part to its majestic views and the estates range in price from five to twenty plus million dollars. So it´s safe to say that Sangmi grew up privileged. She went to both a private elementary and middle school and here she was immensely popular. Midway through her time in middle school her parents took her on vacation to Seoul. They wanted her to see the place she came from. She was 11 and suddenly being here was strange. Now Sangmi had always had a love for music and her parents had enrolled her in piano classes and singing lessons when she was just 9. And it was 2006. Super Junior had recently had their debut and their song U was being played everywhere they went. Sangmi immediately fell in love with the song and upon returning home she started doing research. She came across a faceless group who had debuted around the same time that Sangmi had been in Korea (Brown Eyed Girls). However she had not heard anything about this group despite them having obvious talent. In particular the rapper of the group (Miryo) intrigued Sangmi and she decided she would learn. And learn she did. At first it wasn´t her dream to become a kpop idol but within two years of starting her journey on learning rapping she was hooked. She wanted to do music for the rest of her life. So in 2008 Sangmi sent auditioned to a multitude of companies. And only one was willing to take her in. At the time they were known as LOEN Entertainment. Sangmi took the trainee spot and became a trainee in early 2008. She was just 14, moving to Korea all on her own. Here she would train for 2 years before being told in 2010 that she would be joining forces with 5 other talented young women. The 6 of them trained together as a group for another 2 years before finally making their debut as Fiestar in 2012. Sangmi was the main rapper, main dancer, vocalist and maknae. They didn´t win huge amounts of popularity but they grew a steady fanbase.
While training at LOEN Sangmi applied for naturalization to become a South Korean citizen. She did this in February of 2011 after the South Korean government legalized dual citizenship and she was granted dual citizenship, making her nationality Korean-American.
In September of 2013, LOEN Entertainment created the sub-label Collabodadi, under which Fiestar would continue to release their music. And on March 20th 2014 Cheska left the group and they continued on as 5.
September of 2014 was a busy month for Sangmi. Not only would Collabodadi be dissolved and the group move back to LOEN Tree to continue their music releases however Sangmi was also announced as part of the cast for Unpretty Rapstar 2. She won the ability to star on the 4th song of the Unpretty Rapstar compilation album and before this she earned a lot of credit from her performance of the song Crazy Dog on the 3rd episode of the show. She was eliminated on episode 8 before returning for the semi-final as she won a revival round. In the semi-final she performed Abused Me/Treat Me Roughly/Listen Up ft Hanhae a song that also made it onto the compilation album.
Fiestar released their last group single in May of 2016. And then nothing was heard from the Fiestar members until it was announced that they had disbanded in May of 2018 after the members contracts had expired.
Sangmi went on to join Brand New Music and released Crazy Dog ft San E (the song that had brought her so much fame during Unpretty Rapstar 2) who she had met during the shooting of Unpretty Rapstar in late 2015 and who was now also her labelmate.  Shei released the full maxi-single Foresight Dream in late 2018 marking her solo debut. And then in mid 2018 she released the single Ack Su Namum. This single marked her first producer credit since debut for an album of her own, accompanied by her usual composition and writing credit.

Sangmi still loves her members and wishes them all the best, but she doesn´t see them at all. They´re her friends sure and if she ran across them she´d definitely be polite and they´d catch up but she doesn´t actively seek out contact with them. (Hence why I haven´t mentioned personalities - they´re not close enough for the girls to appear at all in the story but I figured they needed mentioning because ya know... Group mates)

Trainee Life : 

— Training for Sangmi wasn´t horrible. She was a good rapper already and quickly got the hang of both vocals and dance. The hardest for her was learning Korean and she spent a lot of her time working on her korean. However she was also quite young and so she would very often experience homesickness. She dealt with this at first by pouring her heart even more into training. But when she got put together to train with the other 5 girls she started going to them whenever she´d feel homesick. Especially Cheska and Cao Lu as Cheska was also from the States and Cao Lu from China. They understood her homesickness and helped her deal with it.

Scandals?? : 

— Fiestar's single "One More" was banned from broadcast by MBC for its supposedly risqué lyrics. While the song had originally passed scrutiny from the three major broadcasting stations (KBS, MBC and SBS), backlash from public commentators forced the networks to review the song's content. While their representatives claimed that the song was innocuous, the group re-recorded the song and changed the lyrics. The controversy spawned from the lyrics prompted MBC to crack down further on songs with ambiguous or easily misconstrued lyrical content.
