그 선을 지켜라! ✕ 백예린 is 강윤수's 여사친.
Yoondaeng: a combination of his name and the word 'daeng daengi' which is slang for 'puppy', Yerin created the name for him a while back in high school and it stuck till now. It's used exclusively by her (mostly because he doesn't have other friends)
Su: for the particularly lazy, Su is the go to name for him. It doesn't have a particularly exciting origin story other than his highschool classmates taking to calling him Su from some day onwards and him being too passive to question their intentions.
HOMETOWN Ulsan, Gyeongsang-province
Having mastered the art of deliberate negligence, Su's style is a happy mix of t-shirts, ripped skinny jeans and battered vans, all in monochrome because he cannot compute with much color cordination. He can frequently be found running about in overlarge t-shirts (often with long sleeves that give him the sweater paws effect) and pretty simple black earrings. When the occasion calls for it, he might step up his game to nicer button down shirts and slacks but it's rare that he ever needs to fancy himself up to that degree. You can usually tell when he's had a rough night if he's wearing his glasses as it's an indication that he hasn't slept enough and thus his lens refuse to stick to his eyeball

Known for having good intentions but a dysfunctional social antenna, Kang Yoonsu prides himself in only two things: his ability to survive on a diet of cup noodles and his astounding capacity to churn out abstract metaphors in inappropriate situations. Do not be fooled. He may speak like he's just walked out of a Shakespearean play but he's also incredibly silly, giggling when someone sends him the poop emoji or walking into doors because he has yet to master depth perception with his contact lenses yet. It often feels like Yoonsu is just a walking frazzled mess and he is. But he's also the most loving person you are likely to ever meet. He listens with an open heart and is the kind of guy who would shyly help you pick up your books after you've dropped them (even if he accidently knocks heads with you in the process).
Though Yoonsu will frequently make himself the of the joke, he would never speak a harsh word against others, resenting conflict with a burning passion. He's very much a push-over and will often find himself in some pretty ridiculous situations as a result. He likes to know he's of help to someone though that does often subject him to manipulation. Don't be mistaken; he knows when someone's using him. But he likes to see the good in everyone and tries not to pass negative judgement even if what they do predisposes him to dislike them. The truth is that Yoonsu doesn't really have any solidified opinions of his own, blaming it on the inner philosopher in him that believes there is no right anwer when in truth, he's just terrified less of offending someone by forcing his opinion on them. Thus he prefers to match himself to the needs of the other person, never verbally expressing his disagreement even if he thinks you have a ty political stance and that you could afford to sit through anger management classes. It is only with a few rare few that he unleashes the true dork within. And when he does, you better prepare to have him awkwardly waddle after you like a baby penguin, mumbling about what he did that day and spamming you with cat memes at 3am (exhibit a).
The biggest misonception about Yoonsu is that he's antisocial. That is incorrect - he is selectively social. People are inclined to like him due to how pleasant he is however, he often stresses himself out over saying and doing the right thing which is why he's wary of company. He's unreasonably hard on himself, taking hours to do something just right whilst knowing that it's hopeless because perfection is a construct anyways. He's so helplessly fixated with the idea of becoming a strong pillar that people can lean on and strives to ensure his loved ones feel loved. He will drop everything and be on your doorstep within a heartbeat when you need him and will never hesitate to put your needs before his. Yet he is a highly sensititive being who sniffles during the sad parts of any movie and if spoken to in an abrasive manner, he will internalise it and backpedal away from you at dizzying speeds, never to be seen again except for the occasions where he physically turns in his steps and power walks away from you lest he offend you again.

"for someone who likes arguing definitions, he doesn't think very far. you might suffer from increased blood pressure trying to decipher what he's saying between the tangents, vague hand gestures and obscure vine references but for the most part, it's forgivable given how goddamn squishy he is. Su hugs are the answer to world peace." - namjoon, kim

"he's kind of like if Dory and Wall-E had a baby; friendly, frazzled but loving and helplessly lost in life. but he always gives good advice when he's not hiding out in the bathroom stalls feverishly typing because he didn't finish his essay again. he only loses a star because he once knocked an entire bottle of soju onto my lap when he was standing to go to the bathroom." - luna, kim

"having Yoonsu is kind of like raising a tamagotchi. he's pleasantly aloof and all you need to do is feed him, play with him and ensure he doesn't drown in a sea of his own (ty problems). do that and you will be rewarded with a friend who'll stick with you through the thick and thin. look once and you will see only his flushed complexion and down turned eyes. but dare to look twice and you'll find a heart that might just be worth loving. call him what you will. but there is no value that you can put on a heart of gold like Yoonsu's. so screw your stars."- yerin, baek
His only interactions with his parents would be at breakfast and in the late evenings when they would stumble in to find Su slumped over the kitchen counter, homework spread out before him, barely hiding the doodles he'd spend hours perfecting. Eventually, his parents realized when Su was 14 that they needed a change in scenery. There was only so much Su's small town could offer so they decided to move to the bigger city of Seoul to see what oppurtunities awaited them there. So there he was, uprooted from the small world he knew, so painfully awkward and timid he hadn't the slightest clue how to look someone in the eye without blushing crimson.
But he began to learn. He was never the most sociable, often spending days at his new school cooped up in the library, doodling in his notebooks whilst blasting 80s rock songs to make the time go by. Then he met Yerin.
— His time management is admittedly pretty . He's always late to meetings (even with friends) and hands in his assignments late. In fact, he's so late that he already knows he's going to be late, procrastinates more by buying a compensatory snack from the convenience store and proceeds to show up a solid 2 hours later, sweating but with snacks
Kim Namjoon - 25
They met in a class Su accidently signed up for when he was a freshmen and Namjoon a senior, the two hitting it off when the elder took pity on Su who had taken to wandering around like a lost puppy in the class because he hadn't a clue what was going on nor who anyone was. Namjoon is basically Su's dad figure on campus, taking him out to lunch at least once a week to check up on his well-being and ensure he hasn't buried himself too deeply into the mountain of readings he hasn't finished yet. He's the anchor that keeps Su grounded and often is the voice of reason that prevents Yoonsu from overthinking.
Kim Luna - 20
they met recently in a class about Contemporary Videography, incidently sitting next to each other and befriending one another when Su accidently knocked over her water and she, being as nice as she is, strived to calm him down before he spontaneously combusted. She is honestly a little dumbfounded by him constantly sliding her a different strawberry flavored snack everyday but she's taken it into stride and in turn ensures he actually socialises with his classmates rather than dissolving into a puddle of panic. Much to her surprise he actually does well but the social interaction clearly exhausts him which is why she usually opts for the two of them to huddle around an empty table somewhere, doing their respective homework and both ranting about their respective *coughs* love interests. Su feels a strange brotherly instinct to protecc her at all costs, doing what he can for her be it sticking a cute sticker onto the back of her hand when he sees she's having a bad day or taking her out to buy some cute stationary.
BESTFRIEND'S NAME Baek Yerin
Eloquent yet eccentric, Yerin bounces on a spectrum between the down-to-earth girl who loves indie music and skateboarding to being an emotional wreck, sobbing with a tub of mint-chocolate ice-cream tucked under her arm as she watches Titanic for the 12th time. Most people tend to perceive her as being sociable given how friendly she is, but she's actually quite reserved and level-headed, never disclosing a lot of information about herself unless she trusts you entirely. She's highly independent with a healthy dose of free-spirited meaning she'll often do what she wants without much care for what people think of her. But she's also surprisingly indecisive, having a hard time making very trivial decisions about what to eat even if she decides in a heartbeat what school she wants to go to without a spark of regret.
> she majors in music composition at Baekseong University and can play a whopping total of 3 instruments being piano, electric guitar and the ukele
> she was born on June 26 1997 and is 22 (though she seems a lot older given how self-assured she is)
> she lives alone as her parents moved to the countryside to care for her sick grandma
> some of her hobbies include music composition, spontaneous road trips, skateboarding and binge watching old movies
> she has been insanely in love with her best friend since the first time she saw him as a chubby 14 year old with boxy glasses
THEIR STORY There he was; sweaty palms and trembling knees, five seconds away from heaving himself into a coma as he stood before a class full of curious eyes, observing him like he was fresh prey. His fingers would tighten around the straps of his backpack as he determinedly lowered his eyes, mumbling his name to muted applause, hurriedly shuffling to his seat with head bowed and ears flashing crimson in embarassment. Amongst the many things Kang Yoonsu had grown to hate in his 14 years of living, first days at school were top of his list. He was new to the area, having arrived freshly from the countryside and thus boasting a beautifully thick accent his Seoul-bred classmates could hardly decipher. He was an outsider from day one being much too quiet and reserved to gather anyone's attention but being much too shy to approach someone first.
Then he met Yerin. All rosy cheeks and gentle smiles, smelling of sunshine and vanilla chapstick sliding into the chair next to his in homeroom one day, tongue between teeth as she stared fixated at her nintendo. It was the first time he had ever properly gotten a glimpse of his desk mate; one because she always had her head bowed, forever napping and two because he had never dared to spare more than a chance glimpse at her between lessons lest she think he's a creep. That eventful day, she would snatch a pencil from his pencil case, proceeding to jot notes down using his stuff freely whilst he squeamishly just watched her. When lunch time rolled around, she'd turn to him and grin, asking him to join her and the rest was history.
Cue the next 9 years of their life, an idyllic montage of sticky notes, letters on birthdays, bruised knees from falling one too many times from Yerin's skateboard and late nights spent on the floor of her bedroom, trying to cram for their tests whilst -talking their dumb classmates. She was there when he would bawl his eyes out uncontrollably because someone made fun of his thicccc glasses and he was there to hold her hair back when she was throwing up, sick, with a tub of mint chocolate ice cream tucked under his arm for her. The moments when they were apart, they'd be on the phone with one another, texting about the mundanities of their lives.
Now he stands at 22, shoulders still hunched in intimidation, eyes turned downward as an ode to his still endearing awkwardness but now a little more at peace with himself. It took 8 long years of Yerin yelling at him through the static space of their late night phonecalls to get him to believe that he was worthy of love and affection. It's not that people never assumed they were dating. They got questions like that all the time. But perhaps it was because Yerin was so blatantly different from Su that people assumed that there was no chance for it to develop further (read: people thought she was too good for him).
Considering the extents of Yoonsu's dating experience only stretches as far as his brief 2 week long affair with tablemate Hayoung in 6th grade (a relationship that met a swift end when he panic slammed the door in her face when she popped into his house for a surprise visit), it would be fair to say he doesn't, for the life of him, know what love is. He knew Yerin loved him because she would never hesitate to throw the phrase at him casually. She'd blurt she loves him when she's drunk, between the bites of cake they'd nibble after dinner, when she'd nestle into his shoulder on the bus ride back home. But he didn't know if she loved him.
> luna x su interaction with the both of them slumped over a table, pep talking one another to pursue the love of their lives as if it were the end of the world and marching off to confess their feelings only to return in the same dejected state, realising the impracticality of their decision
> Su bandaging up Yerin's knee whilst the two reminisce about their past together ending in a very awkward moment of them both realising that they were in love from an undesignated point in time and have no clue what to do about it
> Su attempting to run from the burden of his immense feelings by falling off the face of the earth and responding to no one only to have an agitated Namjoon and Luna on his doorstep, both standing in solidarity against his immense stupidity at shutting out his best friend
