EMANON'S OSHIRO YORIKO ? OF MAIN DANCER, LEAD RAPPER, VOCALIST

大城順子

guisukigwi. ayiev. four out of ten.

the basics!

name oshiro yoriko  (大城順子).

nickname(s)

✧ RENNÉSA OSHIRO the name she went by when she lived abroad.

✧ COOKIE yoriko's name in hangul, when translated to english, means cookie. this moniker is mostly used among foreign fans of emanon.

✧ LIFE SIZE DOLL probably the only nickname that yoriko lowkey protests in having. it's not a secret that yoriko has model-like visuals,  her full lips and wide eyes gaining the attention of many fans. yoriko thinks she looks okay, and would get mildly embarrassed when fans would openly call her out as a doll or praise her beauty. she's thankful though, but doesn't see herself as the goddess everyone claims her to be.

AYE, IT'S YA CALIFORNIA SUSHI once when yoriko still lived in the usa, she was featured in one of her friends' vlog, where she introduced herself as the said nickname. some fans found the said old vlog in youtube. it went viral as a meme material (think of nct's jaehyun's "i just want some milk."). coincidentally, california sushi is her absolute all-time favourite sushi. it's a dark past yoriko wished the members would not brought up, but nonetheless yoriko would still smile (in shame) and bury her head in her hands when they brought it up. in all honesty, whenever yoriko sees that dark past in memes of herself, she felt like burying herself six feet underground.

✧ 대성순자 yoriko's name, when directly translated from japanese characters to chinese characters, then translated again to hangul, is daesong sunja (대성순자). korean fans would sometimes call her sunja, or sometimes prince sunja (prince because she is graceful and she's like that cool yet quiet male lead in every typical high school kdrama).

YORI, YORI-CHAN, YOYO, YEOLLIE what the members call her.

birthplace & birthday oakland, california, usa & december eighteen, nineteen ninety-seven.

hometown oakland, california, usa.

ethnicity japanese.

language

✧ JAPANESE fluent, native tongue. speaks it with a slight foreign accent, an influence of having been living in america for so long. her parents taught her japanese from an early age so she wouldn't forget her roots. though sometimes she stumbles on her pronounciations and stutters whenever they ask her rapid-fire questions in japanese (think of blackpink's rose and her korean).

✧ ENGLISH fluent, speaks it daily in her phone calls to her parents. grew up in america for more than half her life.

✧ KOREAN semi-fluent, still learning. reads korean better than she speaks it. her accent is a dead giveaway that she's a foreigner.

appearance

oshiro yoriko is a living breathing manga character come to life. she's just so inhumanely beautiful, her beauty out of this world. she wasn't the type of explosive beauty. rather, she was the kind of gentle underrated beauty that's always there. when you start to notice her wide curious eyes and full lips smiling politely, you find yourself drawn into her. her beauty reminds one of a lady, elegance and gracefulness carefully etched into her every single feature. her smooth pale skin accentuate her beauty even more, making yoriko seems brigther. she has a beautiful gummy smile and a small beauty mark on the left side of her nose. her raven hair flows past her shoulders, with bangs curtaining her forehead. she has a slim figure and an average height (leans more to the tall side), weighing fourty-six kilograms and standing at one hundred sixty-three centimetres. years of hard gymnastics training helped her in gaining rock solid abs at an early age.

style

yoriko tends to lean more on the casual side. her style is quite boyish, evident from the amount of flannels, hoodies, sweaters and graphic t-shirts she has.  she's mostly seen with jeans on, rarely wearing shorts and a short skirt. sometimes yoriko likes mixing formal with casual, such as wearing a blouse or a blazer with jeans. other times yoriko amps up her style with a touch of elegance such as wearing a turtleneck with a long skirt.

yoriko is someone you probably won’t notice at first. her gentle mannerisms and softspoken words may touch the hearts of many and leave quite an impression, but it’s gone as quick as it came. she involuntary blends easily with the background, due to her rather guarded and quiet nature. it takes a while for yoriko to open up, and even then she still has so many layers left hidden and locked. it’s rare for her to lead or take a lead in doing something. she speaks when she’s spoken to, talks when she’s ordered to. in the eyes of some people, she’s quite plain and maybe even be described as boring.

while it’s true that it takes a while for yoriko to open up, she wouldn’t mind meeting new people or making new friends. yes, she is rather withdrawn, but she is not shy. awkward is probably the better term to describe her. starting conversations or initiating small talks are foreign concepts to yoriko. she treats people who she just met with care and a stiff air of politeness. she tries her best to avoid unpleasant situations, as she's always careful with her actions and words, not wanting to hurt someone unintentionally. a good person to go to for advices and words of encouragements but not the best person to seek for physical support. it’s not that yoriko loathes nor hates skinship. she just doesn’t know how to return affectionate gestures, as she rarely does so to her peers when growing up. she appreciates every small acts of love the members give her and wishes she could return it too. but if it were up to yoriko, she prefers to show she cares through actions. she's like a hidden knight in shining armour, helping you in your times of need when you didn't even expect anyone to care nor help you. her humbleness and how red her cheeks becomes whenever someone mentions a good deed yoriko had done in the past just makes her even more endearing.

she treats everyone equally, thus whenever you talk to her, you couldn’t help but feel like someone important in her presence. she pays full attention to you, and actually listens to what you say. a kind soul through and through, seeing the best in people rather than finding their flaws and think of them in a negative light. she is actually quite creative, as creative her imagination can be. she sees this world as an array of possibilities and hidden meanings. it's rare sight to see yoriko giving up. in this world, she firmly believes that there is always a way. she's very hardworking, and though people might not see it upfront, it's clear in behind-the-scenes. she's a perfectionist, never truly satisfied with herself, always trying to outdo her previous efforts. she unconsciously searches for approval, seeking for acknowledges despite not vocalizing it. deep down, yoriko feels disappointed if her efforts aren’t recognized or waved aside easily. she's not very expressive, and she knows deep down some people think that her position in emanon is being that one useless member. it hurts to know that her whole presence is being marked off as nothing significant, and with this thought, she continues to push herself. it's the fuel to her fire of hardwork.

digging deeper, you'll notice that when yoriko is with someone she’s comfortable with, you’ll see her slowly coming out of her shell, the passion in her eyes and fire in her heart as she enthusiastically talks about the things she loves. due to her loquacious side coming out when she's engrossed in a topic, many people mistook yoriko as an extrovert. yoriko is someone you'll probably think twice before adding her to your team, as she probably looks like she wouldn't contribute a lot. when in reality, yoriko wouldn’t hesitate to fight for what she believes in and fight for the people she loves. she's quite a walking contradiction, emotional yet rational. she has a good balance of both sides, as sometimes she is too logical for those who think and act according to the heart yet too emotional for those who think and act according to the brain. yoriko is someone who to stay in one's comfort zone, calculating and re-calculating things, thinking through and through. she's not someone that is brave enough to take risks, afraid that doing so will cause unwanted events to happen. yoriko values peace and harmony greatly, thus she tries her best to avoid conflicts, though she wouldn't mind stepping in and being the peacekeeper when an argument breaks out.

yoriko is a bit of an oddball, her strange sense of humour and weird antics gaining her a place in the heart of emanon's fans. when other members are doing something, she's probably off in the corner, doing something else. when she's not serious, she's off in her own world. she wouldn't mind embarrassing herself, and sometimes suprised the members by suddenly doing a random act. she's that one quiet member of every group that caughts the members off-guard whenever they're doing something out of character. there are times where emanon membes caught yoriko mumbling incoherently or whispering words of encouragement to herself.

though yoriko looks as if she’s easily breakable, she’s actually quite levelheaded and calm. she's a lot smarter than she lets on, probably one of emanon's intellectual line. she's that one person who actually thinks of a plan when others are panicking in a haunted house. yoriko sees the world in grey colours, meaning that she can see from different point of views. she has this intuition, so to say, as she gets and understands what one person is going through without them telling her the whole story.  she's easy to use, as she has a hard time saying no, but she is, by all means, not easy to manipulate. she can see through lies easily, so it's no use to fool her really (unless she's willing to be fooled by you). she forgives, but she doesn't forget. not the type to hold grudges ; in fact she doesn't really hold grudges at all. the most yoriko can do if she dislikes someone is distance herself away from the said person and putting a barrier in between rather than treating them harshly or coldly ignoring them.

the only thing that’s breakable is her soft sponge-like heart. yoriko, though she doesn't show it, is quite sensitive. the last thing she wants to be is a burden, and to be a burden means that she's a person that constantly shows weakness. yoriko doesn't want to be a burden. thus she hides her raw and vulnerable self, keeps her hardship and tears to herself. she struggles sometimes and desperately needs someone to hold on to, but she hides it behind an easygoing facade. she's on a constant debate with her own self, overthinking simple stuff and being paranoid about the most litte things. she's not very attune to her feelings, despite understanding the feelings of others. in fact, yoriko would like to think that she understands others far better than she understands her own self. she wishes for someone who understands her, to see and accept her for who she is.

background

oshiro yoriko was born in oakland, ca. she pretty much lived a normal, happy childhood. she had loving parents and her imagination to keep her company. ever since yoriko was young, she had always been a shy little bean. she had quite a hard time making friends, and it wasn't because no one wanted to befriend the cute japanese girl. rather, it was due to yoriko not speaking much and spends time, whether at school or in her neighbourhood, wondering around and muttering to herself. she was in the top three of her school, a bright kid wise beyond her age. she was a child who act like someone way older than her age, despite having oddball tendencies. her classmates thought that she looked pretty busy spending time by herself so they mostly left her alone. yoriko parents slowly realized that their little girl never brought up about friends nor asked a classmate to have "play dates" at her house, as she mostly rambles on to her parents about her "adventures" in the playground whenever they asked her how her day at school was. they encourage her to try and make friends by arranging play dates and allowing yoriko to have sleepovers. though most of them ended well, it didn't really turned yoriko into someone more sociable. yoriko's life was pretty mundane and boring, so to say. it wasn't until young yoriko shyly pleaded her parents to let have gymnastic lessons after witnessing some of her girl classmates do handstands around the classroom. they immediately signed her up, finally relieved at the thought of yoriko finally opening up to her peers. five years old yoriko slowly fell in love with gymnastics, and her life wasn't so plain anymore.

two years later, yoriko's little brother, haruto, arrived at earth. he was like a gift in yoriko's eyes, for she now has someone else to ramble on about her adventures to. growing up, yoriko never felt like there's something wrong about to happen in her family. her parents gave her and her brother unconditional love and support, and worked their backs off just to ensure that yoriko and her brother have a bright future ahead. years passed and yoriko was already in her level six gymnastics. what started as a pure interest and a need to be able to copy the handstands that her classmates were able to do, slowly became something that yoriko enjoys. she was able to make friends, joined in competitions and overall have the time of her life. she wasn't really interested in making it to usa's national gymnastics team, despite her coach telling her that it's a possible future for her.  for now, gymnastics was something she dearly loved but it wasn't something she can see herself pursue for the rest of her life. yoriko slowly grew to become a bright and happy kid, a kid who always does her very best. she was that stubborn kid who would go above and beyond. if you told her to do a cartwheel five times, she would give you seven cartwheels. life was somehow a bliss for yoriko. that is, until her parents started arguing over little things.

it started when yoriko's family decided to move back to japan, when yoriko was thirteen years old, due to her father's job. yoriko heard her parents fought before, but never like this. it was a small petty quarrel at first, finished just as quickly as it started. then it grew to become something that always happens everyday, despite being on a smaller scale in terms of the profanities used. slowly it grew to the point where yoriko's mother would lock her father out of his own bedroom making him have no choice except to sleep on the couch, until the point where yoriko's father wouldn't say a word or kiss his wife good morning like he usually did every day. yoriko thought that her parents were probably stressed from work. on some nights, it would escalate to shouting from both sides. yoriko was terrified, as she has never seen her parents fought like this before. she has no idea what the two of them were fighting about, but she heard words like "liar", "dinners with female coworkers behind my back", "too friendly with the old man next door".  on nights like this, haruto would paddle to yoriko's bedroom and the two of them listened to music to drown out the sounds of whatever it is her parents are doing. young haruto was a huge fan of snsd, and yoriko, who had no prior knowledge of kpop, listened along. she soon fell in love with kpop, the songs making her feel tranquil and at peace, or hyped up and ready to face the world. kpop helped her get through days where she thought she wouldn't be able to face, helped her believe that her parents are going to be okay and that it's just a phase.

yoriko continued doing gymnastics in japan, even making it to level ten. she sadly wasn't as in love with gymnastics as she was in the past, despite being at her last level. it was due to her family's state and an environment that's supposedly her heritage yet she could not feel any connections to it. not that she's throwing  shade at her country or anything, but having been living in america for more than half her life only to move away and having to start all over again was pretty confusing for yoriko. she finally was able to settle down, despite her new classmates labelling her as "the foreign girl", which was a nicer way of saying that she wasn't really accepted nor welcome.  as for her life back home, it was the same routine of hiding her fear of her parents possibly getting divorced by faking a smile and telling them how friendly her classmates were and how her school day was amazing, as usual. her parents still did fight, but they toned it down ever since the incident where haruto could no longer take it anymore, suddenly burst out crying and begging his parents not to fight. by this point, yoriko wasn't even sure what to expect anymore. she learned a lesson that, no matter how good your life is nor how good you think your future is going to be, it can turn upside down unexpectedly when you thought it would never happen. yoriko graduated with flying colours, becoming the valedictorian of her batch. her small success was big enough to distract her parents from going at each other's throats, the two of them being civil for once and asking yoriko to try and continue her studies overseas, for the two of them believed that her daughter deserves better education. the first thing that came to yoriko's mind was to study in korea, as it had lots of good schools there, plus it wasn't really far from japan thus she can go back home once a month. her parents then arranged plans for yoriko to stay with her aunt who's currently living in korea, yoriko agreed and she couldn't help but feel like life was slowly turning out okay again, and for that she was over the moon. it didn't last long however, for her parents informed her days later that they were going to "peacefully" separate.

devastated was an understatement. yoriko was absolutely heartbroken and torn apart. gone was the perfect family picture, gone was the happy family life yoriko thought that she'd be in throughout her life. though her parents mutually agreed to divorce on good terms, yoriko still couldn't accept it. in her heart, she would never want to accept the fact that her parents were no longer in love with each other as they were in the past before, despite her brain reminding her that one day she's going to accept it and move on, whether her heart likes it or not. during this period, yoriko listened to a lot of kpop ballads, since they provide as good distractions and able to keep her mind at peace. kpop was slowly taking its place in yoriko's heart, becoming something that yoriko listens to daily. she was trying to slowly accept her parents separation, but haruto, on the other hand, straight out rejected his parents getting divorced. he was in a slightly worser state than yoriko, being years younger than her and not fully understanding the meaning of separation other than "mom and dad don't live together anymore". when the news of his sister moving to korea came, he wanted to go with her instead of staying behind in japan and losing his only best friend. after a long discussion and protests from haruto's parents, they unwillingly let haruto move to korea with his sister to go to school there as well. the day finally came for yoriko to move to korea with haruto. she was fifteen years old at that time, ready to study in her chosen overseas high school. the oshiro had somewhat of an awkward goodbye, not one full of tears and long hugs since yoriko still wasn't able to forgive her parents. she knows she'll forgive them eventually but for now, she just doesn't want to think about it.

yoriko did not know any korean at all when she first came to korea, only knowing a few basic words thanks to the kpop songs she listens to. the language barrier prevented yoriko in communicating with her friends, despite her wanting to befriend them all too. yoriko quitted gymnastics when she moved to korea, no longer feeling the passion nor love. life continued on as usual. it took yoriko a while to settle down. life in korea was a difficult one, especially for a foreigner like her. she had haruto by her side, at least. her academics were as stellar as it was before, as yoriko promised that she'll do her best at school, if not for her parents, then, for herself. on her second year of high school, yoriko got casted by a pledis representative. yoriko thought that they're joking, for she had no skills (in her humble opinion) and they maybe purely asking her to audition simply for her face. yoriko pondered on auditioning for a while, and decided to give it a go. she sang sam smith's stay with me on her audition. sadly she didn't make it. yoriko somehow knew that it wouldn't happen anyways, for she had no prior training nor took any vocal classes before. she told her parents about this, thinking that they're probably going to scold her and tell her to focus on school, but to her surprise, they encouraged her on and supported on whatever decision she decided to make. it was a wall-breaking moment, and yoriko felt a little guilty for treating her parents badly before she left. her parents' encouragements were enough to get yoriko back up on her feet. she tried to find a company on her own this time, and out of the companies that she tried auditioning at, source music entertainment was the only one who accepted her. yoriko trained there for about a year, leaving the company on her last year of high school.

yoriko graduated as the top of her class, and she was accepted to a good university. her relationship with her parents were slightly better than before, for she's slowly forgiving them and accepting the fact that, though they're no longer the family they were like before, they're still a family in her heart. yoriko didn't have any intention of  going back to being a trainee, scared of failing again, but she missed the nights in the practice room where she could sing her heart out. she had a heart-to-heart talk with her parents, who told her to try and audition again. there's nothing to lose, they said. yoriko decided not to audition at huge companies, settling for nameless but promising companies instead. and that is how she found amon entertainment. this time, she sang a great big world's say something. yoriko was certain she performed horribly but to her surprise, she got accepted.

RELATIONSHIPS

OSHIRO YUZURU & OSHIRO SARENA

parents, accountant & pastry chef.

before yoriko's parents divorced, she used to think that they were like a fairytale couple. always so lovable and sweet towards each other, their love reflected to yoriko and haruto. her father was more similar in nature with her, while her mother was a splitting image of her younger brother. yoriko remembers how she would throw herself against her father every time he came home from work, and he would give her piggyback rides and play pretend with her. as for her mother, she was her biggest supporter. never absent in any of yoriko's gymnastic competitions, screaming at the top of her lungs every time yoriko performed her routine with precision and unintentionally embarrassing yoriko in front of her team mates, helping her stretch, baking cookies for yoriko to give to her classmates so she can gain friends, etc. they were very hardworking and driven. after her parents separated, yoriko felt like she lost her trust in her parents. she felt like her family was torn in the middle. her relationship with her parents become somewhat strained. both yuzuru and sarena felt guilty knowing that both of their children were emotionally hurt due to their separation. yoriko knows that her parents weren't to blame for, but she was young back then, not fully understanding the concept of falling out of love. her relationship with her parents took a turn when yoriko was living in korea. when yoriko had a difficult time adjusting to her new life in korea, her parents were there by her side. they supported her and that simple act caused yoriko to lower her guard down and accept her parents back. as of now, she's slowly forgiving her parents, coming into terms that they will never be together again. her relationship with her parents are progressing, and though it may not be the same as it was before, her bond with her parents was definitely stronger than it was before.

OSHIRO HARUTO

younger brother, middle school student.

haruto was one heck of a brother. his intelligence matched that of yoriko's, but if there's one thing that separates the two is the fact that haruto was a popular student in his school. he likes to rub it in her face that he's more "cooler" than she is. haruto was like that suave dude who's always looks chilled 24/7, as if he doesn't seem serious at anything. he was rather quiet just like her, but back at home he likes to annoy yoriko and basically giving her extra headaches. the two were awkward in terms of affectionate gestures, as they both would rather show their love through actions than words. yoriko loves her brother very much though, always making sure that he's not skipping meals and reminds him daily to do his homework (or else she'll take away his gaming gears). he's good in technologies and spends his free time gaming until 2am or hacking sites. haruto is actually unknowinglyy clingy to yoriko, and despite the latter being the older one, haruto can't help but feel slightly protective of his older sister. he can be emotional sometimes (he's a growing boy going through puberty, after all) and yoriko had to deal firsthand with his teenage boy mood swings and hormons. haruto doesn't really fear anything, but if there's one thing that can make his heart stop,  it's when yoriko calls him by his full name. there's nothing that scares him more than his sister's "OSHIRO HARUTOOOOO!". when she does that, he knows that he's in big trouble and that he'll get one hell of a scolding. basically his personality is inspired by thisfc : treasure's watanabe haruto.

JUNG "JAEHYUN" YOONOH

friend, nct member.

yoriko met yoonoh at a music show. he accidentally heard yoriko speaking in english one time and due to that. he would regulary greet her every time the two of them met in their promotions. their relationship, as time passed, progressed to be more friendly. the two of them exchanged contact and grew closer. the two suprisingly got along well, despite yoriko and yoonoh's personality being at opposite ends. yoriko never calls yoonoh by his stage name, which nct members find odd but funny, since they rarely do that. they were same-aged friends, and later on yoonoh introduced her to yuta and a few members from nct.  the two of them mostly communicated in english, and sometimes yoonoh gives yoriko korean lessons. at times, when yoonoh has a free schedule, which is very rare, the two would go out and eat at american fast food restaurants.

EMANON

unrelated-by-blood sisters, coworkers.

EOM JIAE acquaintance, emanon member. jiae was one of the first trainees yoriko tried befriending. the two would politely greet each other whenever they passed by one another. they were born on the same year, something that relieves yoriko for finally she has found someone her age. yoriko would ask for help in her korean to jiae, and in turn yoriko would help jiae with her singing. their relationship could have progressed to be a strong friendship, provided that jiae didn't leave emanon.

KIM HANA looked upon figure, emanon member. hana was an older unnie, or onee-chan, that yoriko looks up to. her confidence was something yoriko can only imagine of having. hana treats yoriko like a younger sister, and it makes yoriko's heart feel warm because she never had an older sister. she was the person who always takes care of other people, so it was a nice change to be able to be taken care of by someone.

JI SHINAE energizer, emanon member. despite being a year apart, yoriko wasn't really close to shinae, at first. the two were on seriously opposite ends, and as much as yoriko tries to follow along shinae's liveliness, she couldn't keep up. though yoriko appreciates shinae's directness, she couldn't help but feel slightly wounded sometimes with her words, despite keeping it to herself and not telling shinae about the impact of her words. yoriko finds shinae's everlasting ball of energy amusing, wishing to be just as bubbly as she is one day. but as of now, their relationship consists of shinae dragging yoriko to whatever shinae's about to do and yoriko trying to keep up. shinae was too hyper and yoriko was too quiet. plus, yoriko somehow knew that shinae finds her boring at times. maybe as time passed, the two would be able to grow closer and balance each other out.

JEON JIYOO friend, emanon member. jiyoo was an interesting one. her absolute nihilistic view honestly amazes yoriko. she wanted to ask like, who hurt you?, to be able to be like that. yoriko can clearly see how jiyoo doesn't really get along with the optimistic members, and though yoriko can't really do anything about it, she wished jiyoo to get along well with them. unlike yoriko who sees the best in people, jiyoo tends to see the worst in people. that is something that doesn't sit well with yoriko, but since people are different, yoriko couldn't do much about it either, apart from reminding jiyoo at times that people don't always turn out to be the way jiyoo thinks they are. yoriko got over her initial surprise of jiyoo's personality, and got used to the person she is, not finding her irritable. plus, jiyoo's puns are to die for. in yoriko's eyes, jiyoo is the closest thing she has to a friend, despite feeling that jiyoo probably doesn't think the same as her. yoriko knows that jiyoo is a good person at heart. despite so, she wished jiyoo would lower her guard down (for example, don't do things in kazakh intentionally becasue some members do care about her personal life) and put effort, or at the very least, allow herself to be reached out to and not think too cynical of some things.

IM YOONBYUL beagle baby #1, emanon member. yoonbyul's positivity, positive mindset, positive outlook in life, basically positive everything was something yoriko admires. the younger girl's optimistic nature was an inspiration to yoriko. yoonbyul is someone yoriko feels a foreign feeling of affection for, becoming soft around the younger girl. she sometimes packs yoonbyul food for her to bring whenever yoonbyul goes out camping (aka locking herself in) in her studio. yoriko checks on yoonbyul daily, making sure the younger girl is not working too hard and neglecting her health.

WANG AOWEN fierce baby #2, emanon member. this fire-y baby was a rather difficult one to handle. aowen reminds yoriko of herself, a confused foreigner in an unknown country far away from her original roots. she was somehow like yoriko, a perfectionist who smiles through the hardships and not wanting to ask for help despite clearly needing it. she relates a lot to aowen in terms of not being able to express herself. she was a more fiercer version of yoriko, so to say. yoriko was sometimes in awe of aowen's professionalism, and tries her best to treat aowen the way she wants to be treated. yoriko is one of the members who calms aowen down whenever she gets too worked up. yoriko has a soft spot for the younger girl, but she sometimes wished for aowen to drop the act (her pride) and let those around her in. she wants aowen to know that it's okay to be vulnerable, and that failures happen.

LEE CHOSEUNG giant baby #3, emanon member. yoriko deeply adores choseung, her maternal instinct kicking in whenever choseung's around. she reminds yoriko of her younger brother, and maybe due to that fact yoriko felt the need to take care of choseung. she knows that choseung doesn't like to be babied that much, but to her, that just makes choseung more endearing in her eyes. out of all the members, yoriko is probably the only one who is patient enough to deal with choseung's moodswings. yoriko acts as the substitute peacemaker whenever hana is not around to break the fight between choseung and aowen. as much as yoriko cherishes choseung, her childishness sometimes caused yoriko major headaches.

TRAINEE LIFE

after being rejected by pledis, yoriko was forever grateful to source music for accepting her. at source music, yoriko was originally trained to be a dancer, but her trainers deemed her voice as something that has lots of potential and can grow to become a beautiful voice. plus, yoriko's vocal colour was unique, deep and husky unlike the usual soft and velvety or cutesy. thus in source music, yoriko was geared to be a vocalist, focusing more on developing her vocal. she picked up rather fast in dancing (due to her past history with gymnastics), plus with her amazing flexibility, she had no real major problems. she was going well for a trainee in terms of prepping her skills and honing her talents. but in terms of socializing with the other trainees, she was behind. yoriko wasn't that fluent in korean yet, so she didn't talk much with the other trainees. she wished to be able to join in their conversations though, wondering what they're laughing or gossiping about. the other trainees were more or less cordial with her. they greeted her and she'll politely greet back. they regarded her as "the pretty foreign trainee" with good manners. but that's about it. yoriko didn't make a lot of friends back in soumu, since the language barrier was blocking her to do so.

it was quite a struggle at first, balancing between school and training time. yoriko didn't live in the dorms since she was living with her aunt, and she doesn't want to drop out due to her promise that she made to her parents. they supported her in whatever she does, as long as she still continues her education. eventually yoriko was able to get used to it, going back home in the middle of the night and quietly sliding in her side of the bed, careful not to wake haruto up. it went like that for more or less a year. yoriko left the company on the year that gfriend debuted. she was originally part of the lineup, but was replaced by jung eunbi instead. not that she was jealous nor was she angry, though. rather, she was disappointed in herself. disappointed that she didn't make it, disappointed that she wasn't talented enough. yoriko thought that she failed, and seeing no use in continuing to be a trainee anymore, she called it quits.

yoriko didn't try to audition anymore, deciding to focus on her last year of high school. she thought that she wasn't meant to be an idol, still wounded of her failure of debuting. her parents encouraged her on, and even her brother suggested her the crazy idea of becoming a trainee again. that way i can eat all of your snacks when you're away training the whole night, haruto joked. yoriko, however, was anxious that she'll fail again. after much debating and pondering, yoriko decided to audition at anmo entertainment. thankfully, she was accepted.

yoriko didn't have much trouble settling back down on that training grind. she was in university and would go straight to practice after uni. she was still the same trainee back when she was in soumu ; hardworking and genuine. though this time, her vocals got better, language was no longer the barrier. in anmo, the coaches and trainers focused more on improving her dance, as they deemed her talent, once honed, will make her a force to be reckoned with. as for yoriko's vocals, it was deemed good enough and doesn't need any extensive training (thanks to soumu's training). on one evaluation, yoriko found a skill she never thought she would be good at : rapping. previously, soumu focused more on her voice, but in anmo, they focused more on her dancing. since there weren't many rappers in anmo, once anmo discovered yoriko's newfound talent in rapping, they immediately instructed her to develop her rapping skills. thus yoriko started to improve her rapping, finding herself enjoying it more than singing. back then in soumu, yoriko trained with her best effort, but she had no actual purpose nor was her heart completely set in becoming and idol. she trained and tried her best to be a good trainee not because of wanting to debut but because it was a must, since she was accepted as a soumu trainee. soumu and any other entertainments expects all the trainees to do so, anyways. maybe that was the reason she didn't make it to gfriend, yoriko thought. maybe the other girls wanted to debut way much more than yoriko did. in anmo, her passion bloomed brighter than it did before. somehow along the way, yoriko had a change of heart. her dream of becoming an idol became stronger. back when she was doing gymnastics, she loved every moment of it but it was not enough to make her pursue it for the rest of her life. but being an idol, yoriko can see herself performing up on the satge.  in the beginning, yoriko didn't think that she would become an idol one day, never considered the idea even just once. in soumu, her efforst weren't the best because her goal wasn't clear yet. but now in anmo, yoriko firmly decided that she's going to choose the path of being an idol. so she put more effort than ever, dancing, rapping and singing as if she's touching the hearts of those who's watching her. and thank god, the effort paid off.

know your best!

NECKLACE yoriko's necklace is a silver chain choker with antique sterling silver plated wild rose details and a black onyx gemstone as the center. it rests comfortably on her neck, and doesn't choker her like most chokers.

power dark element manipulation. user can create, shape and manipulate the elements of a darker, detrimental nature; that which damages, destroys, and consumes anything/everything they come across, representing the hazardous destructive side of nature, which in turn ignores most of the limitations and weaknesses of the normal elements. in essence, this is about solely controlling the negative powers of nature itself. the element can be various, from earth, metal, fire, lightning, acid, light, water, ice, wind, smoke, etc. with proper training, she can control just about any element and manipulate to become more destructive. at her highest peak / state when she's using her powers, the edges of her eyes (iris) turns  grey, and there's a black swirl in her pupils. the dangers of this power lies on the user itself, as it can touch the heart with dark thoughts and has a high chance of going out of control. dark elements are volatile/destructive, causing harm to oneself/environment by accident is ever-present danger. distance, mass, precision, etc. depend upon of the knowledge, skill, and strength of the user, and their power's natural limits. possibilities of encountering dark elemental attacks are by using light element manipulation. if that isn't present, then the only thing that can be relied on is the user, and the goodness of the user's heart (needs to be able to channel out the darkness inside her and use her bad powers for good). with a rational, clear head and control of her powers, can it be used freely and out of harm. one thing to know is that it isn't necessarily an "evil" type of power. it just uses the more violent side of nature.

backup (if the power is too strong) : darkness manipulation, dark energy manipulation

the reaction yoriko was the last girl to receive her powers. she didn't immediately put on the necklace when she received it. the morning after yoriko received the necklace, right after she woke up, she examined it and was in awe of how expensive-looking it is, making a mental note to examine it further. she decided to try it on just once, wanting to know how it feels like. as soon as yoriko puts it on, she felt a powerful stab to her whole body, as if it were being smashed with an unknown force. she felt like she was enclosed, like her mind was drifting away and was clouded with so many negative thoughts at once it was overwhelming. yoriko shut her eyes and screamed for it to stop, and as if her powers were listening to her, she felt her thoughts clear up and the squeezing of her heart disappearing. she opened her eyes, only to discover the wall in front of her covered in...is that black liquid? black...something? she didn't know. she heard frantic footsteps going up the stairs, and not wanting to cause a ruckus in the morning, she covered her "blackened" wall with newspaper and threw herself on it, covering the newspaper with her back and adapting a "normal" posture (as if she was busy doing something) just seconds before her aunt, along with her brother in tow, barging in with kitchen utensils in their hands.

"what? what happened?!" her aunt looked like she was ready to smack anyone with her frying pan.

"um...oh? oh! the um -- i mean, i thought i saw a mouse and i screamed for it to stop s- err, to stop running around..." yoriko awkwardly scratched her neck, willing herself to stop shaking and took a deep breath.

"are you sure, onee-chan? you screamed as if you were being stabbed --" haruto began, but was quickly cutten off by yoriko, a panicked expression on her face.

"NO! i mean, no, haruto. i -- oh look, what time is it? we're going to be late!" it was her aunt and her brother's turn to panic as they both went downstairs to avoid being late. yoriko, left alone in her bedroom, took a deep breath to calm herself down. she slowly turned around, and pulled a portion of the newspaper back. she looked at the necklace in her neck, touching it and feeling a zap of power coursing through her body. several incoherent thoughts and what-ifs formed in her mind. she shook her head, clearing her mind, deciding to ponder on it later. she has to get ready for uni first, and also train. she made a mental note to ask the girls about their necklaces, and whether or not they experienced something bizarre.

it was hard to control her powers. yoriko, if she were to be completely honest, disliked it. she didn't understand how to use it, and it scares her for she can unintentionally hurt someone. she didn't want to think or even use her powers. but curiosity took over, and yoriko slowly learned what her power actually is and how to control it. on times where she was brave enough, yoriko would tamper around and figure out the vast possibilities, along with limitations, of her powers.

talk like you won!

INTERVIEW

✧ HELLO. PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF.

"ah, hello. my name's renné and i am emanon's lead vocalist. pleased to meet you."

✧ HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT EOM JIAE?

"i consider her as a good acquaintance of mine. we are same-aged friends, so to say. she was a nice girl, helping me in my korean. i would never thought that she would did that. though i believe she has her reasons, it's not alright to solve things out with our fists. i wished she could have talked to someone beforehand, get someone to listen to her troubles."

✧ HOW ABOUT WE TALK ABOUT YOUR NECKLACE? HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT IT?

"um, well...let's just say it's unexpected. i cannot decide how to perceive this new situation. i am afraid of the outcome but at the same time, it amazes me. at first i thought that i...wouldn't be able to handle it. i'd like to think that i'll be able to control this...bizarre thing...soon. do, um, wish me luck?"

✧ DID ANYTHING STARTED CHANGING AFTER GETTING IT?

"change? oh...maybe? somehow, in a way. i guess after receiving my...power, i wasn't the same girl as i was before. it opened my mind and made me think and rethink about the universe. and...i've come across a thought, regarding my powers. you know how black or anything destructive are stereotyped as something evil, negative or bad? in my opinion, that isn't completely true. for you can be bestowed with powers related to something evil yet use it for good intentions, and you can also have powers related to everything good yet use it for terrible intentions. i -- um, that is all."

✧ WHAT DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE OTHER MEMBERS?

"i love them all equally. i do understand that you can't always have great relationships with all members but regardless, i do appreciate them. i don't vocalize my love for them often, but i love them all. i do hope we'll get along well, and that we'll have a better, more stronger bond in the future, especially after this necklace incident."

✧ WELL. WHAT'S YOUR DREAMS IN THE FUTURE?

"hmm. that is a hard question to answer. firstly, whatever it is i am doing, i hope i can make my family proud. second of all, i wish for emanon to be successful and walk on the flower path and uh, do well in saving-the-world business? i would also love to try and collaborate with any idol one day, but that is still a faraway dream. and, if it's not too much, i would like to be happy."

✧ THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.

"my pleasure! and thank you, too."

the one and only!

love interest nct's dong 'winwin' sicheng (董思成)

backup love interest stray kids' bang chan (방찬)

dong sicheng, first and foremost, is a harworking and lovable man. he came all the way to korea, a foreign country, by himself, leaving his family and home behind. everyone in nct loves him, to the point that sicheng got annoyed (or overwhelmed) by nct's love for him. he can be quite savage sometimes, straight up rejecting a member's love for him or telling them to be quiet. he sometimes uses his hyungs' love for him to get what he wants, and he lowkey throw shades at the members sometimes (for instance, when nct were playing a game, most of the members played it carefully and winwin just straight told them that if they were real men, they should do it quickly and not gently). he's honest in an innocent and cheek way (one time a host asked him if he's jealous of nct's taeyong's good looks and he said not really, because he himself believes that he's also good-looking). he's that one member in every group that you feel soft for no matter what. whatever it is he's doing, you can't help but coo at his cute actions. you'll even fawn over him when he's doing nothing. he's rather quiet in nature, but when he's close to someone and starts feeling comfortable around the said person, he opens up. he can be rather cheeky sometimes, doing random actions and breaking into weird moves like suddenly pretending to shoot lasers out of his hands. he has this dorky quality, and rather "extra" sometimes, yet he has one of the most purest and childlike smile. he's rather innocent looking and wonderfully weird. back when his korean wasn't very good, he was rather awkward and didn't talk much. nowadays, he talks freely and even has the audacity to diss the members, but he's still part of the quiet line in nct. an idea of his personality (click!).

to sum it up, sicheng and nct's relationship in a nutshell :

nct : bro i love you, i'd die for you

winwin : then perish

love story

they both met at a music show, a few weeks after emanon's debut, which overlapped with nct's comeback. yoonoh was originally the first person in nct to get to know yoriko, followed by yuta.  after a while, yoonoh introduced her to sicheng, since they're both 97 liners and might become good same-aged friends. sicheng was rather shy at first, likewise with yoriko, and since the both of them were rather introverted, their friendship didn't really progressed much. they do greet each other from time to time and make casual talks out of courtesy, but that's about. until the two agreed to exchange contact, for formalities' sake. the two of them started texting each other once in a while, usually it's about the two asking how the other is doing, how is comeback, etc. but as time passed, they both regularly texted each other and started to open up to one another, with sicheng telling yoriko about s' funny antics and yoriko updating sicheng on the latest puns her members told her. funnily enough, they both feel more comfortable meeting each other virtually through texts, as they both get super shy when passing by each other in music shows. it went like that for a while until yoriko felt this weird feeling in her heart whenever she sees sicheng, and she doesn't know why.

it wasn't until yoriko finally figured out what's wrong with her heart every time sicheng shoots her an eyesmile that makes her feel lighthearted or when sicheng cutely nods his head at her in acknowledgement. she realized that she's falling for sicheng, after stressful, agonizing and confusing days of not knowing what the heck she's feeling. because gods she has never felt this way before and it's bad enough that she can't even understand her own feelings. after much pondering, she decided to confess to sicheng, since she doesn't want her heart to mess up her brain anymore. she held his wrist and led him to a secluded area after his comeback performance, taking a deep breath before spilling out how she feels. yoriko didn't mind if sicheng rejected her confession, and she didn't mind if he didn't feel the same way. heck, she wouldn't even mind if he laughed at her face or called her names because that is way better than the silence he's giving her right now. she looked up, suprised to see sicheng's eyes were wide and looking at her in a look of...is that adoration? or happiness? or a bit of both? and his mouth was slightly ajar. he replied that he felt the same way in a small voice, and for a moment yoriko thought that he was joking. but no. despite his eyes looking down at the floor, his voice was firm and clear. the two of them stared at each other in what seems like an eternity, before they got over their initial suprise. their wide-eyed expression was wiped away and replaced with a look of relief, a tiny hint of a smile making its way to both of their faces. sicheng gently pulled yoriko to him, before enveloping her into the most softest hug she has ever felt.

INTERACTIONS

originally, the two were rather cordial and somehow friendly yet stiff  a few weeks after the two of them were introduced to each other by yoonoh.

im music shows, yoriko is always cheering for nct in the back, and gets excited and emotional as nct does when they win.

they got closer as time passed. from greeting each other politely whenever they passed one another to secretly meeting each other in their respective waiting room. they both like to secretly glance at one another when no one is looking, and throw long gazes when one of them is across the room from each other.

after the confession, the gazes and secretly glances given seemed more meaningful, and the two sometimes communicated with their eyes when they passed by each other in music shows. sicheng would throw her a look that yoriko easily decipher as sicheng asking her how she's doing, and yoriko would let her eyes smile as a way of telling sicheng that she's doing good.

they both become more verbal and let out their inner self when they're texting. when the two of them meet face-to-face, few words are shared but through texts, paragpraphs after paragraphs are shared between the two. they're much more of themselves when they're not directly meeting each other face to face.

they rarely go out to meet each other, but when they do, which is once in a blue moon, they usually go out to eat in sicheng's favourite chinese restaurant or order sushi to takeaway and have a mini night picnic in a park near one of their dorms.

both are uncomfortable with pda, but an affectionate small gesture from one of them comes a long way. yoriko admits she does swoon whenever sicheng's hands accidentally brushed her, and her heart would literally melt whenever he gave her a quick hug. but the real winning action that is able to make feel so touched she would probably die is when sicheng tells her to sleep more or when he secretly brings sushi to her waiting room. things like those makes her heart bloom and feel warm. basically, caring actions and words > hugs and kisses.

the two opened up much more after their confessions. not only are they each other's advisers, they're also each other's rock. yoriko opened up to sicheng about her family and sicheng would let his guard down and cry in front of yoriko whenever he admits how much he missed his family back home.

it's always sicheng who initiates the first call, as yoriko was too afraid of disturbing sicheng in his schedules if she suddenly called him. she never admit this, but she loves hearing sicheng's voice. it's like a pleasant melody for her, and she can literally fall asleep listening to him talk.

besides texting, the two would do midnight video calls to each other, despite yoriko's protest that sicheng needed sleep. sicheng doesn't really sing, but whenever yoriko misses him, he'll sing a chinese song or an nct song to her, knowing full well that his deep voice is her weakness.

overall their interactions are soft in capital letters.

STATUS awkward friends turned into something more than friends, less than lovers (the two of them both confessed to each other that they feel something more for the other).

ENDING both agreed that they can't date as of now since winwin's china activities had just started and he'll probably be busy and won't come back to korea for a while, whilst yoriko had just debuted and it would be bad for a fresh rookie to have her name attached to a dating scandal. for now, the two of them are content with knowing that they both feel the same way with each other. maybe they'll both date in the distant future, but really it's up to you to decide their fate.

TRIVIA

1. sicheng is better in korean than yoriko. he would sometimes help her with her korean, besides yoonoh, and in return yoriko would help him improve his english.

2. they don't own any couple items, but once sicheng gave yoriko a keychain, a souvenir he bought for her while he had overseas schedule, while yoriko gave him her very own sushi-patterned socks (that she has washed throughly and treasured dearly).

3. instead of calling yoriko by her full name, sicheng opts to shorten it to simply koko, as chinese people usually make nicknames by the last words of one's name. as for yoriko, she never calls sicheng by his stage name (aka winwin), preferring to call him by his birth name. sometimes she'd call him by his name in korean too.

tba.

last words!

comments i see her as that one member who all the other members fawn over, like she's so pure in whatever she does. she's that one member who's able to literally melt an anti's heart. and no i didnt choose her power to be related to something dark because she wears a black gemstone necklace xD ;; i thought it would be fun for someone quiet and kind and just overall a sweetheart to have powers completely opposite of her nature. cause she's rather quiet, whenever she makes some "noise" i can imagine emanon's fans hurrying make a compilation of yoriko being "noisy" xD im sorry if the background somehow felt too short?? i literally tried to rush it yet make it informative enough and now reading it back it makes me want to delete it bcs its so bad ;;; also apologies if this app is Very Bad in general -- i haven't done apps in a while and this is my first app that i submit after like,,a "hiatus" on applyfics :") my writing isn't as good as it was before -- no wait, scratch that, my writing was and never will be good. but i still do hope you enjoy reading this app despite how long it is c": ps : if her background has too much drama and her trivia is too short forgive mee T^T i made it up as i go along and i am sleept deprivedb aksjdkasah and i have no creative brain juice left. also i just realized something,,,i think almost all of emanon's members put in sensitive as their trait :") and here i am adding another sensitive character to the pile :"D also this is my very first app that has a love interest in it...i never make apps with l/i (cause i made a promise to myself not to do so bcs the love int section takes a lot of work and planning) so forgive me if its lacking...winwin in wayv got me feeling in some way and i cannot resist to use him :")

suggestions

yoriko bringing sicheng to the dorm and the emanon girls are like..uNNnie / onEE chAN??!! YOU HAVE A BF?? OMFF---

the girls training their powers and it goes haywire and everyone just so stressed...after that the girls gathered to talk and became vulnerable and raw ;; basically taking their guards down and have wall-breaking moments where they let the other girls in (aka fluffy bonding scene)
