appearance.  Standing at 170cm and weighing 50kg, he is a man of short stature, but his visuals can overshadow those taller than him. Has piercings on both his ears, and his hair is usually fluffy and naturally black.  

style.  casual to smart casual all day everyday. shirts, ripped jeans and boots are his way to go. oh, with earrings and sunglasses too.
 

   what is within.

personality traits.  good: independent, tenacious, commanding; bad: pushy, oblivious, critical

personality.  A born-leader, Hyunbin is able to generate his own drive and motivation to do things and to push his own limits. He is a bit of a team player, but actively seeks to stand out in a crowd or to make his team stand out as a whole. However, he has his own way of doing things, and may push his ideas and ideals onto people without hesistation. He also has no fear of expressing adverse or disapproving comments, making him critical as a person. It also makes him somewhat oblivious to criticism and compliments, but he is trying to be more sensitive towards other people, especially after a whole fiasco with his previous group and company.

background.  

Born and raised in South Korea, his whole family migrated to America when he was 12, putting him in a different environment when he eventually became independent and did things without his parents' support. It was in America where he got exposed to hip hop and rap music, where he began writing his own lyrics at the age of 14, picking up the language gradually before eventually moving back to Korea at the age of 17.

He had a fixed dream, to become a rapper, and in Korea, he seeked out auditions and went into underground hiphop, making mixtapes by himself whilst studying in high school. He also attended an acting academy, furthering his prospects of becoming a celebrity. Being an idol wasn't in his mind at that time to be honest, but after passing the first round of an open Lotte auditions, he figured that being an idol could be an easy way of getting his name out in the industry. Also, he could still live his dream as a rapper, and having solo debut as his end goal.

It took him two auditions before he got into the company, TOP Media, and within a year of training, debuted as a member of TEEN TOP, whom he participated in activities with for 7 years, making a name for himself with the team as the resident rapper alongside CAP. However, as he wanted solo activities for himself, and after seeing fellow teammate Niel debuting solo as well, he pressed on with his plans to the company, whom initally promised him for a solo debut but subsequently limiting his solo promotions and restricted him to only doing group activities. With pent up frustration, Hyunbin filed for nullification of his contract despite persuasion from his other members, citing the lack of trust between him and the company and not being able to express himself as an artist as the reason for him leaving TEEN TOP. Both sides engaged in a lawsuit which was eventually settled by a mutual agreement, and Hyunbin's contract with the company was officially terminated by the court.

Hyunbin still kept his rapper dream alive, but as someone without income, and with prior acting experience, he auditioned for roles in dramas, starring in 1 but failing in the auditions for many others, the setback decreasing his confidence. Maybe being a celebrity wasn't for him, was that he thought, until  he stumbled upon the advertisement for Produce 100. By then, it had been 2 years since the end of his idol career, the solo artist dream now a speck in his life. However, it was his last and only chance for him to make his way towards a dream, and he had to do it. Judging from the success of previous Produce series, and the successful debut of Chungha as a soloist, he signed up without hesistation, even though he currently has an acting gig. Time was of no problem to him, he could work and practice all day. All that he needed was to be successful.

– Close Friend :: Chanyeol (26) / EXO / Joker, Caring / Both of them attended the same acting academy and cram school, where they stuck to each other as best friends for around 2 years, before eventually debuting and their time together was limited to the stage. However, they still keep in contact with each other, and it was partly Chanyeol who contacted Hyunbin and convinced him to join Produce 100, as he knew how much it meant to him. 

–  Ricky (23) / TEEN TOP / Loud, Outgoing / The only TEEN TOP member he still keeps in contact with. Hyunbin still feels bad about leaving the group, with Ricky being the only one who has forgiven him since then, as he knew what circumstances Hyunbin had been through.

there are 100 seats, which seat would you sit at, why?  Only the 1st place, I don't have a choice anymore, this is my last chance, and I'll prove to all the viewers that I'm not a has-been, and I still have potential left in me.

be honest, you are here for the boys/girls.  No. Like I said, this is my last chance, even if you put my ideal type in front of me, I'll only push her away. My eyes will only be kept focused on the goal itself, and that is to debut as a musician again. 

how would you pick your songs for evaluations.  
Rapping will always be my main choice, dance is secondary. I don't want to brag, but the choreography I've done was always difficult.

there are so many trainees, how can you make us remember you.  
I'll do a self composed rap about myself. My mindset right now is as of a rookie, I'll show the viewers my determination and dreams. To my fans right now, please still support me, I won't disappoint. Not anymore.
