appearance.  Hyojin stands at 168 cm & weighs 48 kg. Due to her past training under SM, Hyojin learned early on that you have to appear pretty on television in order to go far as an idol and she has always been one to watch her diet resulting in her tiny figure. for the most part hyojin's hair is a dark brown, but she is willing to dye her hair different colors for comebacks and such. for makeup hyojin doesn't care much for it; maybe a light foundation and some glitter shadow and blush and she's ready for the day. she does put a lot of focus on her skin care routine however. she's very diligent with maintaining a good 7 step skincare routine also due to the fact she believes that good looks are the only way to get ahead in the industry. due to this she gets away with not even wearing foundation most of the time.
hyojin has three piercings in each ear and a small nose stud. as for tattoos she only has a tiny finger tattoo reading "hope".

fashion.  compared to fleur's concept of pastel girly clothes, hyojin prefers to dress herself in dark neutral colors while she's not on stage. she has what you might call a "chic" fashion sense where even the most effortless outfits look classy on her. she prefers clothes that look good naturally without having to put much effort into getting dressed. x.

Competitive by nature, HyoJin never lets anyone take her shine away from her. She believes in teamwork, and her competitiveness sometimes gets the best of her when it comes to her members goofing around on stage and not doing what they're supposed to be doing. She isn't afraid to put someone in their place or telling them what's what. HyoJin isn't one to set back and let someone else win her glory, instead she prefers to stand out from the crowd and just be herself. She's is very confident in who she is, which lets out somewhat of a y feminine charm to her. Some may even say she's overly flirty.

She has a somewhat analytical view of the world, as she knows everything can't be rainbows and unicorns all them time. She understands that their are bad people in the world who do bad things, and there is very little to be done about it. HyoJin has various trust issues resulting from her past company always hyping her up only to let her down once again. Hyojin has a hard time believing any good news and is afraid to get too happy or attached to something as her happiness was usually ripped out of her hands. She also often over thinks situations into more than what they really are, resulting the situation into an even worse problem.

Since Hyojin spent most of her teenage years as a trainee under SM, she didn't get to go out with her friends or do things normal teenagers would do. As a result, Hyojin tends to like and do things that others would deem "childish" such as getting up early on a Saturday morning just to watch cartoons or whine and pout if someone is teasing her. Hyojin also has a slight rebellious side to her despite her leader like qualities when it comes to the rest of her group. She just doesn't like to be told what to do or how to do something anymore. After ten years of being told she "wasn't good enough" getting bossed becomes annoying.

HyoJin's usually a calm, and collective person, unless someone messes with someone who's close to her. Then her protective side will come out and all hell can break loose. HyoJin has a very short temper, some may even say she has anger issues. She tries to keep her emotions under wraps as she doesn't like for people to worry about her, but will let them loose in moments of extreme passion, anger, or stress. HyoJin is also very sarcastic, which at times may be funny, it can also be quite hurtful at times. HyoJin does, however, try to be caring towards others as she knows how it feels to be hurt and doesn't like hurting others. Has a bit of a quirky, dorky nature to her. She can often be seen making odd faces to herself in a mirror just to keep herself entertained or saying random things on broadcasts. She loves doing volunteer work, and loves animals and children. She also likes to be a counselor to people. Although she may have trust issues herself, people tend to trust her as she has a laid back attitude so they tell her their dirty little secrets.

Overall, HyoJin is just HyoJin, and she isn't about to change that.

Kim Hyojin was born on a snowy day in December to a fairly well off family. Hyojin was the only child and such, she was spoiled from a young age. Her father worked as a college proffesor in Daegu and her mother as a nurse for the local hospital. Her parents always had a lot of work to get done and for the most part weren't home as much as they had anticipated. Hyojin spent most of her childhood with her paternal grandparents or at a daycare.

Hyojin watched a lot of TV at her grandparents and as soon as she saw SES on the television screen she knew being an idol was what she wanted to do. At the age of six Hyojin would dress up and parade around the house carrying a microphone and singing as loud as her little lungs would allow her. Her grandparents were, of course as the older generation usually is, against her wanting to be a singer and was often told she wouldn't make it in the world and to choose something more pratical like her parents did to make a lot of money. Of course, her parents just wanted whatever their daughter wanted as long as she was happy. Although, this was only the first of Hyojin being told she wasn't good enough.

Hyojin had always had her eyes set on SM Entertainment and it was her goal to debut under the same company as her then idols SES, Shinhwa, and Boa. She originally had planned to audition in 2001 after turning ten, but her grandparents had talked her parents into making her wait until she was in high school to see if her dream was still the same.

Soon enough, although it felt like an eternity later, Hyojin was able to audition for SM in 2005 after turning 14 years old. She was accepted through SM Open Casting along with another boy from the same group of auditions who would soon become her first crush.

The following years Hyojin was considered for multiple girl groups but always ended up cut last minute as someone better than her was found. Something she always resented her grandparents for was not allowing her to audition when she originally wanted.  if they had allowed her to train earlier she would have been a member of the legendary group snsd. she still hasn't fully forgave them either. Every time SNSD has a comeback she will make sure to mention what could have been to her grandparents.

Hyojin eventually left SM after ten years of training and being cut from the final line up of groups. In all honestly, the only thing that really kept her there that long was the desire to prove her grandparents wrong and that becoming an idol was a dream worth chasing. After leaving SM Hyojin pursued a short rapping career while busing tables at a cafe nearby her apartment in Seoul. Hyojin had moved from Daegu to Seoul by herself after becoming a trainee and once lived in the trainee dorms until she left SM. Since she was already out of high school when she left the company and never pursued further education, she figured the best thing to do was to get a job as she absolutely didn't want to return home to Daegu and give her grandparents the satisfaction of being right. However, paying the bills and being an actual adult was harder than she anticipated. Her then boyfriend offered to help her pay for her bills but Hyojin never allowed him to as it made her feel like her grandparents were right all along. She was however, over at his place most of the time.

Hyojin had always been a big fan of other girl groups within the industry, primarily SNSD, T-ARA, Kara, and Alice. After she heard about Alice's disbandment and Erika's pregnancy she thought it would be the end for her bias and the group. Hyojin ended up being moved by Erika's courage of standing up to the media and decided once Erika opened Star Entertainment she would audition and give the idol life another shot. Anything beats retuning to Daegu, right?

Hyojin passed her audition and joined Star Entertainment in 2018. Never giving up was one of her best decisions.

– boyfriend to ex-boyfriend :: woo jiho (26) / idol (zico)/ leader, goofy, ESFP / 9/10 / Zico and Hyojin first met as trainees under SM Entertainment, they even auditioned the same day! They started off as close friends who eventually developed feelings for one another although after his departure from the company and then his debut with block b, Hyojin knew that nothing would become of her feelings and just remained as friends, especially after his relationship with seolhyun was revealed. it wasn't until  2017 and after jiho and seolhyun broke up that he finally realized his feelings for hyojin and the two started dating and although they didn't have the best relationship due to their crazy scheduals they made it work and met up whenever they could. as a couple they were very careful not to make it too obvious when in public but around friends and in private the two definitely made up for lost time. however, once the media caught wind of their relationship, the two met up less and less until eventually after a cancelation of chuseok plans to meet Hyojin's family in 2020 and a pregnancy scare on top of that, the long time couple broke up. it was jiho's idea as it "just wasn't working out anymore" and he "didn't want to keep her from happiness". hyojin was a mess after that; jiho was her first love after all. she hopes to eventually become friends with him again, but as of now she can't bring herself to look at him without breaking down.

Sunny was like a mother figure for Hyojin as she was still young and her mother wasn't around often due to her work. Sunny had always took care of Hyojin and often snuck her snacks to eat while training and Hyojin often teased Sunny for her height after growing taller than her. When Hyojin and jiho were dating Sunny would open up her apartment as a place the two could easily meet up. Hyojin constantly keeps in contact with Sunny and is often seen leaving the dorm to go to her apartment.

They went to the same high school as they are close in age and after originally training as group mates the two girls friendship blossomed. Hyojin first joined SM Entertainment at the ripe age of 14 through SM open casting system and was accepted due to her visuals.

Training under SM was always a competition for Hyojin as there were so many trainees that you had to do what ever it took to stand out from the crowd. She made a few friends while being a trainee, most from the groups she was being considered for, but for the most part Hyojin focused on training. 

SM's training methods were harsh for the young 14 year old and it definitely helped shape her personality in a lot of ways. As Hyojin was a student during most of her training, she was often late resulting in her having to run ten laps around the training room while singing as punishment. Originally, Hyojin was trained to be a vocalist, but soon lost interest in singing and wanted to train as a rapper and surprisingly had more potential as a rapper. Eventually she started writing and producing her own songs and posting them online under the pseudonym G.Ni to avoid trainers at SM finding out.

She has seen trainees come and go and debut, all the while hoping she would one day get her chance to debut also. Hyojin matured fast as she soon became one of the oldest trainees before finally leaving and often took care of the younger trainees who joined after her as the unnies before her looked out for the once young Hyojin.

During her ten years, Hyojin was considered for many possible line-ups. In 2006, she was once considered for SNSD and trained with them for three months before SM decided to pull her and add Seohyun as a replacement as she had better vocals and more training. To this day she still blames her grandparents as the reason she was cut as she could have became a trainee before seohyun and wouldn't have been cut so easily.

Hyojin returned to training as a normal trainee for a few years until 2008 when she was put into the original line-up of f(x). SM was originally to debut f(x) with six members in 2009, and Hyojin trained with them until June of 2009 where she was pulled from the group. She was told that there wasn't a place for her as multiple members could rap, Krystal was to be the main visual of the group, and SM also wanted to focus on Sulli as the face of the group due to her pre-debut acting career (oh how Hyojin secretly rejoiced when Sulli dropped SM). Hyojin was originally going to switch companies after that, however once she heard about SM's new project "SM Rookies" Hyojin decided to stay. Unfortunately, Hyojin was never an officially promoted member of Rookies, but she did manager to star in a few music videos for fellow artists. In 2012 she was once again added to a girl group line-up only to be dropped the following year. Hyojin stuck around for two more years until her trainee contract was officially up before leaving SM Entertainment in 2015.

After leaving SM, Hyojin perused an underground rapping career on her own for three years. Feeling as if she was too old for the idol life, and quite honestly fed up with SM's method of training, Hyojin had sworn that she would never return to the pop scene. However, time changes everything.

In 2018, Hyojin heard about Sato Erika creating her own company after being exiled for Box Entertainment. Hyojin had always been a fan of both Erika's and Alice's, Erika was someone she had always looked up to for not being afraid of the public. Hyojin was moved by the fact Erika stayed with her dream despite what netizens were saying about her and decided that if she was ever going down the idol route again, it would be under the management of Erika Sato. Her bills had to be paid somehow, right?

As soon as Star Entertainment opened it's doors, Hyojin auditioned and was accepted. Training at Star Entertainment was much easier and less stressful for Hyojin, mainly due to the lack of trainees due to the newness of the company. Less trainees meant less competition; something that made Hyojin look to the brighter side of things. Hyojin was then chosen to be the leader of Fleur, Star Entertainment's first girl group set to debut in 2019.

– 2019 :: Past SM Trainee G.Ni added to new girl group Fleur! ::  originally,Hyojin wanted to keep her past with SM a secret as she didn't want people to say that she was only mentioning it and using her friends under the company as media play. However, her plan failed when teaser photos of Yeeun in Fleur was released. f(x) fans instantly recognized her from a pre-debut video of f(x) training with six members and SNSD fans has recognized her from past photos of the girls. Hyojin was asked about it during Fleur's first interview and revealed that she had been a trainee under SM for ten years and is still close with the artists from that company. / true

– 2020 :: Dispatch revealed photos of G.Ni & rapper Zico on a date! :: Thanks to the lovely dispatch, Hyojin's relationship with Zico was revealed. Similar to how Baekhyun & Taeyeon were revealed, Dispatch revealed photos of the two on what looked to be a car date. It was a situation that would look worse if  the two parties denied their relationship, so they went public confirming everyone's suspicions. After revealing that they had been dating for three years now, fans reactions were mixed with the majority of hate directed towards Hyojin. / true
