FASHION STYLE :

— She finds the closest thing and puts it on. Moonji's literally too lazy to make her outfits look the slightest bit appealing. but she is no fashion terrorist, she literally has a good eye for fashion but is too lazy to tell anyone or to do it herself. she can, but she doesn't feel like having the time to look for cool and interesting clothes. so instead she wears comfortable clothes and won't care for anything else. like her closet completely consists of track suits, sweat pants and sweaters and the colours are noamlly black or grey with the ocassional rainbow. although her closet looks as such, she legit picks out and helps the other members find clothes - like most of their clothing.

PERSONALITY :

creative, honest and inspirational, selfless

Moonji is creative in two ways, the way she is and the way she thinks. for how she thinks, she is creative in the way she uses the environment to her advantage. She, without having to get up, will find multiple and many ways to use her surroundings to get what she wants. This stems from getting the remote or even getting food, she finds creative ways to acquire what she needs. And it's not only that, for being quite the lazy one, she is surprisingly creative in different aspects than just using it for her lazy antics. She is adaptable because of her creativity; she can think inside the box and definitely outside the box when she wants to. She hardly shows this side of her, so when her ideas pop up majority of the people sit and listen to her, because what she has to say is always going to be important. And Moonji is an honest person, she always feels as if she needs to tell the truth whether or not it will hurt the other person, because she believes that it hurts more knowing that one day the truth will come out and everybody you know and loved had lied about it. she is also quite the inspirer. she grew up literally reading books and even the dictionary and so she would write her own stories or lyrics - and within those, she becomes very inspirational. despite her laziness, she can communicate clearly, concisely and often by doing so, motivates everyone to give it their best at all times. though it never seems to motivate herself. she loves the controversial stuff, especially when it comes to writing lyrics, and that's where she inspires others. lastly, she is actually quite selfless. though her outer appearance, her facade, seems like she isn't the type of person, she cares for others other than herself. and you can hardly tell or see or even know when she is being selfless - it's usually like a hidden thing that she doesn't want people to know because then they'd be all up in her grill and stuff or would take advantage of her.

Independent, Calm, chic and Sincere

Moonji is one of those people who looks like they’re chic, acts like their chic and is chic until you get to see her real side when she isn't working. She is compared to BTS's Suga with the way she acts. She doesn't need to depend on anyone and is fine working on her own, but she does enjoy group work and would always somehow end up as a co-leader. Moonji is super calm, like the calmest person you could ever think of. Like if there is ever a situation where the girls are having a fight or if there is ever drama in the dorms, Moonji is always calm and relaxed because she's literally at the sidelines just watching the whole ordeal take place while she eats popcorn. She literally has no time or is just lazy to start a fight with one of her members, or anyone in that matter. but, during fights, after she has her laughs and everything, she will end it and make them reconcile. This also goes for stressing situations or negative moments, she will always stay calm and never act rashly or anxiously. All in all, Moonji is a very sincere person despite her negative traits. Because she can be like she is, she becomes very sincere at times when she wants to. At low times, she becomes sincere to her members and friends and she is always looking out for them no matter how she acts and no matter who they are or what they've done, she is always sincere when she needs to be. And this is a special case when she is by herself and is writing lyrics or whatnot. She would always think of the others before herself, as in inspiring those who needed it at their darkest times.

Lazy, tough, sarcastic and Carefree

Moonji is lazy, like the laziest person you would ever meet in your whole entire damn life. Like she will become hardworking and focus when she needs to be, especially at work and being an idol where you have to learn dances and lyrics, she can be active. But she is a lazy person overall. She just doesn't do anything around the dorm, she just sits and watches TV. She can literally be mostly found sleeping, she's just so lazy man, like the floor is her one and only true love. With this she can be a bit carefree. Like literal no care in the world which fits in kind of with her calm situation. She will have like almost no care when there's a fight and she would just sit and watch without a care in the world. This is how she would usually feel whenever she's at the dorms, or anywhere as a matter of fact. This will literally get her nowhere and she has been told to like change her way and everything because having an idol that had such a personality was a no-no. And even the girls at the dorm disliked the fact that she was so lazy and just didn't care about a lot of things. she is a sarcastic one, especially when someone asks a stupid question - she will always have a sarcastic remark. and lastly, she can be tough on herself. she only keeps this to herself though, like she is not an open book - she is so secretive i swear to god. she is very self-aware of her negative traits and therefore would force herself to work harder behind the scenes.

Blunt, Snarky, sassy and witty

Moonji, now along with her honesty, she can be a bit blunt. Like she'll tell it to you straight if you literally are wasting her precious time with her love, the floor. Or in general if you literally don't get what the next person is trying to say, she'll tell it to you bluntly. And sometimes her honesty hurts, but it hurts the most when she is blunt about it, so it would normally be when she is sleepy or tired when her honesty would start to offend others. And almost all the time she'd do it without any expression which would sometimes either come off as chic or just plain rude. Oh the unorganized Moonji goes along with the lazy Moonji. She just cannot and will not learn how to organize her things and thus will always lose everything. Not as negative, but Moonji is a snarky one when she needs to be. She would have the comebacks that are literal blackmail due to her always watching from the sidelines. So she gets her juicy tid bids from being a lazy. she's witty in how she has major quick comebacks because she literally read the dictionary as a kid. she's quick in the mind yet slow everywhere else. so with this she can get a bit sassy, which would end up in others hitting her, like they always hate how lazy she is.

BACKGROUND :

In short, Moonji was born to Korean parents in Gangnam, South Korea, and moved to Jilin, China when she was in Elementary school up until Middle school. At sixteen, she auditioned at SM global auditions in China, without her parent’s permission and got in. As a High schooler, Moonji returned to South Korea, alone to pursuer her career in the music industry with barely her parent’s consent. In the end, they sent her off to live with her aunt as they could no longer put up with her shenanigans.

1999-2007

Moonji was born and raised in Daegu, South Korea. She didn't grow up in a family who was musically inclined or in a family that liked music in general. At a young age she was taught to be a smart and to study like her eldest brother. So she learned to only study and to only know about school and nothing else because her parents were afraid that she would turn out like her second oldest brother. However, no matter what she tried, she was never as smart as her older brothers and she was never good at school like they were. When she looked at the other families, she was always curious in the fact that her family don’t treat her like how other families treat their children. It’s more of a realisation that her parents don’t treat her exactly as they should in order to be good parents, and instead of feeling envy, she felt anger. In fact, even at such a young age, she got sick of her parents bossing her around and just decided to stop all together. So at the age of 7-8 she attained the diva, stubborn, attitude. This didn't last long though, because when she reached the age of 12 she started to become laid back and relaxed. This did turn out for the worse, too, because when the moved to China, Moonji was the one who had it rough the most. All her family members could speak Chinese and they knew the culture well, and then there was her, who knew absolutely nothing.

2008-2012

Moonji, during the time where she was 9-12, her carefree attitude sprouted. She was in middle school and her parents were still telling her to be like her brother and to go to law school or go to medical school. And if she couldn’t do either, then they wanted her to be good at sports, at least, and get a scholarship like that—nothing ever creative could enter their doorstep. That also meant that in the household, music was banned. They talk about wanting the best for her – but it’s more like they wanted the best for them but put it all on her and just didn't realise it. They wanted her to become successful and to have a good life, because they believed that to live life well that you needed to be successful like them. However, this made her more distant to her parents once she realised how different her friend's parent's treat their children, and she started to question if her parents are actually doing the best for her. So, because of this she changed her way and became carefree. She went behind her parents backs a lot, not wanting to be cooped up in the stuffy house with her overbearing parents and constant reminders of what she can never be in the form of her brothers, so she’d always be out and about. She never had many friends, and she liked it better that way, she found out, growing up, that she found it better to have a few friends or to just talk to people casually then to have full on commitment or a bunch of people to be around with all the time. She felt it suffocating to be surrounded by so many people. She’d go outside a lot and learn about life instead of numbers. At one time, she even discovered an underground scene where there were rappers and dancers, and although it was too loud for her taste, it was amazing to her and she found comfort in it—then, she was escorted out because she was too young. But although she is young, she has experience a lot of things that people would class her as mature. Although she doesn’t look mature or act mature, her mind definitely is.

Her parents were definitely not always great, and when she became older Moonji moved her blame on her parents to the people her parent’s hang around with—the people who influence them the most. Her parents think of her as a disgrace, a daughter who they didn’t want to show to people unless she was like her brothers. She didn’t even look like a daughter, for one—she looked exactly like a boy and her parents always found it embarrassing that their daughter didn’t look like a daughter. And, to add to the burn, she wasn’t as smart as her brothers, and thus she had nothing to show off. And it wasn’t just with her parents and her parent’s colleagues and friends, it was also the people at her school. She attended an international school, where she still had to learn Chinese and the occasional English, but she had many Korean friends, however, she always stood out and felt different from them. They’d make fun of her for looking like a boy, and even mistake her as one upon first meeting. Although she has nothing wrong with that, she does get annoyed at times because she is very proud to be female and likes it better the way she looks instead of changing herself to make herself look more feminine.

2012-2016

Then at this age of 13-17, her love for music grew more and more as she learned further about songwriting, lyric making, and anything music in general—she even learned how to play instruments, which were the only things her mother let her touch (which was the violin or piano or even flute and nothing else). She found joy and peace and she felt as if she could be herself when she was rapping or either making lyrics. She ended up in the mind set of wanting to inspire others yet wanting to tell everyone her story so she could help them. Of course, she never told her parents about the underground rapping scene and the going out and about, getting herself in danger, those sneaking around type of things. But, her parents did find out about the music and her song making, and it caused a riff between the three. The automatically banned her from anything that connected her to music and that meant anything electronic and house arresting her. They wanted her to have a future and believed that she could never be happy with making music. Then, one night, she snuck out of the house for one last time and went to SM Global Auditions and did just that. And to her amusement and surprise, she got in. And, not wanting to hide something this big from her family, she told them—causing a massive fight. It took a while for them to calm down, but Moonji wasn’t going to go down without a fight. She called her Aunty who lived in South Korea and was visiting China, to let her come home with her—and she complied.

Now, with Moonji gone, her parents try to rekindle their relationship with her bit by bit. Really small steps. They do little things like send her money and say happy birthday to her, but they still don’t like the fact that she’s an idol and believe that she’ll just drop it, and that she won’t ever be successful. They don’t have faith in her and her abilities, and they don’t have faith in the music industry—so, it’s going to be hard for them to accept this, but they are trying. Her absence lingering around the house, they figured it was best to let her finally have what she needs that most, and it was music. Also, the fact that Moonji had dedicated some songs to her parents and that was when they finally understood what they were doing to their children.

"hey, do me a favour?"

FAMILY :

— Mother - Moon Young Hee (52) – Businesswoman - strict, stubborn and stern – Is the whole reason why Moonji is thee way she is. She’s the one who embeded in her children’s mind that it’s better to be smart in order to be happy and successful in the future. Even after Moonji debuted in IOA, Younghee detested it. It was how she was raised, also being the daughter of a high class business family.

— Father - Moon Jin Ho (52) – Businessman - caring, intelligent and mature– He dislikes what Moonji is doing the least. In this family, he’s the one who is more lenient and sensitive. He is more pressured into doing the things he does due to the type of society he was born and lived in. And everything he does is mostly to Younghee’s accord more than his own. She’s in charge. He isn’t. But, this doesn’t mean him and Moonji’s relationship isn’t just as strained. But, after Moonji entered IOA and was away from home in a very long time—not seeing her parents for almost many years, her father was the first to suggest to the family that it’s better to have her around and doing what she loves than wanting her to be exactly what they want.

— Older Brother - Moon Woo Jin (27) - Medical Student - cool, calm and collected - The two are only similar in the aspects that they are calm and chic looking. However their mentality is different, while most people would not take Moonji as a mature person due to her laziness and carefree attitude, Woojin is the complete opposite. He is a lot more mature and is always collected. He's like the cool cold brother who everyone loves, like the boy with glasses in almost every anime. The two don't get along because their personalities clash and the fact that she had always had to live up to his expectations. She thinks he is all stuck up and all high and might with so much pride on the line. He thinks that she's a brat with will never get off her .

— Older Brother – Moon Jaejin – Law Student (26) – strict, stern and stubborn – almost a carbon copy of their mother, Jaejin wants Moonji to be successful like everyone in the family and thinks of her as a disgrace if she decides to disobey. They two have the worse relationship out of all the brothers, and they mostly ignore one another all the time. It’s a never-ending Korean drama every day, and nobody’s ever going to stop. Even after debuting with IOA, Jaejin still doesn’t believe that she could ever make a living with the job she is doing, or that she could earn enough money to support herself.

— Older Brother - Moon Min Jun (23) - Sporting Scholarship Student - outgoing, lively, optimistic - Though Minjun and Moonji have the most clash in personalities, they get along better with each other than they do with Woojin. They both understand the pain of being the shadowed siblings who have high expectations they have to reach. While their parents wanted the two of them to be successful and smart as Woojin, they were never able to and thus faced the disappointment of their parents. With that they can both sympathies with each other and help one another out whenever they are in need.

TRAINEE YEARS : 2015-2017

TRAINEE LIFE :

Moonji begun training at the end of 2015. At the beginning of 2016, she begun living in the trainee dorms. She knew, when she started training, she wouldn’t be in IOA straight away, after all she thought she wouldn’t be in IOA in general and believed she’d be having a longer trainee life like Johnny for two reasons: IOA was a massive group, and she definitely was not a fan of being surrounded by that many people, and she thought they’d be saving her for a different, more badass groups, but both of those theories were wrong. Then she heard that any trainee could possibly be part of IOA as the counterpart of NCT, and she was sure that she was going to be Mark’s counterpart, but, she wasn’t. In fact, she couldn’t be in dream for two reasons: she looked way older than her age and was a lot taller than all the other dreamies—just like Lucas.

Day after day, she couldn’t help but think her parents were right and severely hated herself for it. She risked her happiness, her commitment to her family and having the possibility of having good ties with her family, she risked everything by doing something she wanted to do—and it made her feel horrible. And, sadly SM didn’t appreciate their female rappers as much as they did with the male rappers. She was just as good as the rest, she could write her own lyrics and dance as she was told, but so many factors had to be in place. She was carefree and lazy and it was hard for her to always do as she was told because of the trauma her upbringing gave her. And, because she trained too late and was introduced as an SM rookie during IOA’s active, she wasn’t too close with the current members. However, because of her personality and the way that she does love to communicate with other and learn knew things, she never minded becoming friends with them. In fact, she cares more deeply about those who enter IOA and those who she has met from IOA during her SM rookie days—they’re a lot nicer and they treat her like family, and it’s such a new and different experience for her and she likes it very much. And because they’re so welcoming and because they treat her as such, she feels like she is in debt to them. She feels that she should change herself for the better to be better for them.

PREDEBUT EXPERIENCE : Underground rapper

IDOL LIFE :

During 2016 and 2017, Moonji was still a trainee and trained with most of the SM Rookies of that era. Lucas was one of the people she trained with, the boy whose personality was almost complete different than hers yet still managed to have similar taste in everything, especially humor. Her idol life is mostly troubles and worries about her music and if she’d ever be successful—her parent’s words finally getting to her. And, not only that, but she learns just how important image is and she literally says it, but it is something that bites her all the time. Being in the public eye is something very new to her and worries her a lot. There’s always comments about her looks or if she’s actually a new member of NCT and not IOA, and even mean things like “ugly” etc. And, because of this, she starts to believe her parents. And that’s the last thing she wants.

She was revealed to be a SM Rookie with Lucas on April 5th. Being a new member was difficult for Moonji, and mostly because Moonji hadn’t trained with most of the girls—especially those who trained for a short time (like Chenle and Renjun). She had to make new friendships and new relationships, and although she wasn’t a fan of being around so many people, she found it alright being around the members. It was more like they had to be forced to be friends because they were in this group for life man, you gotta do what you gotta do if you’re gonna be with these people for a very long time—like a damn family. But, it didn’t feel like force after getting to know them more. She wished she knew these girls when she was young, maybe it would have been different.

When she was introduced, though, it did not go as well as NCT’s members did. She was not as welcomed than most—to others, Moonji seemed like she took everything for granted, that she was not ideal idol material because she was lazy and unwomanly, and the fact that she was mistaken as a boy. Eventually she was dubbed the baby Amber or Amber’s child. After appearances and vlives and her talent for rapping—which she surprised everyone where her talents are far superior or different than her counterparts—she was accepted. As Lucas’ counterpart, she participates in most of the activities that he does, but sometimes not as most. She does not get enough recognition as he does. She may or may not be in the upcoming IOA China, although she is not Chinese, she does have Chinese ancestry and has lived in China before. There is also the fact that she is Lucas’ counterpart. Her fate remains to be unseen. As of September of 2018, Moonji has appeared on Happy Camp and Knowing Brothers with Lucas. She’s been on the counterpart Vlives of NCT, as the one that began in the beginning of 2018 introducing the new members of IOA. She also appeared in the 99 liners only Vlive.

PERSONAL LIFE Her personal life is mostly her worries with family. As she grew up, she was angry that her family wasn’t like everyone else’s, but, in the end, she was envious more than anything else. She wished she could have made amends with her family before she left them, however, she couldn’t because they couldn’t either. She has a lot of regrets because of that, and it makes it worse that now she’s surrounded by so many people—and she doesn’t like it like that very much. She even has thought that her parents were correct, that she would never make it in this kind of industry or that she would never be happy and successful. But, of course, that all changed when she met the girls. They kept helping her learn new things and that’s all Moonji wanted in life. And, watching all these people get emotional after leaving their families for such a long time, make Moonji question her relationship with her family. She wanted to make amends with them one day, before it’s too late, but she knows it’ll be hard and would take so much will power from both families and right now they don’t have that. She tries her hardest with the rappers and those who participate in the raps to make song that would help children who are in the same state, or at least help parents understand that what they’re doing could seriously impact their child’s life in a bad way.

STORY ARCH

Her story arch involves her family, her drive to become a musician and making new relationships. At the very beginning, we start with her drive to become musician. She wants to participate in song and lyric making, she wants to help others with her music. During the way, she tries to make friends and eventually they help her with her understandings with her own family.

DRAMAS There is some drama with the girls of IOA, but nothing too serious. It’s always creative differences and personality contradictions.

SCANDALS

DID IOA MEMBER MOONJI GET INTO SM VIA MONEY? – 2018 – Reporters and Netizen found out that Moonji’s parents are rich, more like business people, and people believed that she was one of those talentless idols under SM entertainment. In the end, it was revealed that Moonji had no contact with her family, and it was much deeper than they thought.

— (Yawns) Ne, annyeonghaseyo, Moonji imnida. Some people call me Laji, a pun on lazy, short for Lazy and my birth name Jisoo.

SO I'M GOING TO ASK YOU A SERIES OF QUESTIONS ASKED MY FANS... UH, ARE YOU READY?

— (Leans back on chair) Hit me with ya best shot.

what would you be doing right now if you weren't and idol? :

— (Crossing her arms, she looks to the ceiling) Making music. Going to University and study music, and maybe one day become a producer. Yeah, I just want a life in the music industry. I couldn’t think of doing anything else. I don’t think my parents would agree, but, my life my decision, right?

AHEM... WOULD YOU MARRY ME?

— (Laughs) Uh, yeah, sure, man. Whatever toots your horn.

THESE QUESTIONS ARE REALLY SOMETHING... UM, DO YOU EVER READ FANFICTION ABOUT YOURSELF ?

— (She sits up) Fanfiction? Yeah man that sh—I mean that stuff’s good, like real good. I’ve never read fanfictions about myself, though, that’s kinda weird. But, yeah I’ve read ‘em.

OH THIS IS JUICY, COULD YOU TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR ROMANCE LIFE? :

— I know a lot of girls like me, but I am sadly not interested in girls—but, I was pretty sure they thought I was a guy, so, sadly I’m not a guy. Not many guys liked me for that either, so… don’t have one.

ON SERIOUS THINGS, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT BEING A PART OF IOA? DO YOU LIKE THE CONCEPT? :

— I don’t mind it, a bit hesitant at first, but I think it’s pretty cool in all honesty. Yeah, all the coolness.

PERSONALITY: A Literal Crackhead I Dunno What Else To Say

LOVE STORY + INTERACTIONS:
They met when he arrived at the company. She had trained slightly longer than he has and thus she knew what she was doing. Boys and girls were separated at this time, to which people never understood, except for the rumours around the company that some trainees were dating each other (true fact) but, she definitely wasn’t one of those people. And, plus, since she looked like a boy, she had free pass to wherever she could go without people questioning where she was. So, Moonji was hanging around and about the company, trying to decide where she should go: to the boys or to the girls, she opted girls because she wanted more female friends if she were to ever debut with them. And, as she was walking there, a staff member and Lucas walked towards her. The staff asked her why she was walking to the girl’s direction, and Lucas laughed his head off, yelling, “Yeoja!” being the only few Korean words he knew at the time. Moonji cracked a smile, amazed that he knew she was a girl. After all, he was this tall, handsome man. Then after the staff member apologized and left the two to get to know each other, Moonji asked if he was from Korea and he said, “Hong Kong.” And she was like, “Do you speak Mandarin?” and he was like, “Yeah, bruh,” and she was like, “Me, too, bruh,” and the rest was history.

Moonji and Lucas trained together, literally together because they were SM Rookie counterparts and then IOAxNCT counterparts, so they do everything together. Moonji has a very, doneTM kind of relationship with Lucas. And most people don’t believe that the two are sort of best friends. They have a lot in common, the only think they don’t have in common with is their personality. Think Donghyuck and Mark. Like Mark, Moonji is patient with Lucas, who is her Donghyuck. He’s an energetic crackhead of a giant and she’s a cool, calm, collected tomboy. One wouldn’t even think that Lucas would want to be friends with a girl like her, especially Moonji, herself. She believed he was too stuck up or too self-centred to notice a girl like her, let alone knew she was a girl, but she was wrong.

She is kind of the only person he listens to in terms of when he should shut the fck up. And this is always because she has a kind of intimidating aura around her, that she never understand because she’s relaxed and easygoing as fck. But, people seem to always either do as she says or avoid her as a whole. Lucas isn’t one of those people. Sure, she is the only person he listens to, but he clings on to her like glue, and nobody understands why. He’s this erratic ball of energy and she’s this relaxed ball of laziness. She’s a cat and he’s a dog. Polar opposites, yet they have so much in common. And, because they’re friends, when they fight, it’s normally playful and just for fun, nothing that could tear their friendship a part. It’s normally about stupid theories, or idiotic nonsense that he sprouts because he’s Lucas and he’s a full on crackhead. But, she goes along with it anyways because it’s always hard to say no to someone like Lucas. Well, at first, she’d always say no. She’d be the mature one for once and say no, because she has never met a person like Lucas before. She was always the one being rebellious and stupid. But, as they’ve become closer, she is always there was Lucas does something stupid, so he doesn’t do it alone.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS:
