Similarities

I hate going back to read my stories and seeing how similar they are. I guess it's an element of my writing but having such similar plot points is kind of depressing, hah. But it's easier to think of that one thing as a single leaf on a gigantic tree where the end of the story, not the beginning, is actually the root. Both of my accessible stories have a sort of love game involved with the target of a transfer student- the self insert for readers. They both deal with socioeconomic status conflict  in a place of development, and intend to progress the protagonist ten fold from the person she is from the start. Of course I can find joy in the massive differences the stories have: character personalities and world building; however, the "love game" still makes my forehead crease.

I'm the type of person who you could say is enchanted by love. Platonic, romantic, ual, toxic- it's just so interesting. Concepts like love at first sight and love language, the trick to ask a certain number of intimate questions to fall in love, or even Stockholm syndrome are so fun to explore. There's some love that is just so utterly painful but the person bears it so the other can be happy- what a ridiculous decision to make for yourself. To sacrifice your own happiness for another's? That's just what live does and it's insane. Of course the types of love I show in my writing will always be superficial, so obviously fake, because that's how I want to portray it: as a game, as a fantasy, as something that comes and goes.

Anyways, the point of this was to say, yes I realize the two stories are basically the same at this point, and no I will not feel bad about it because I know the stories are going in drastically different directions. Wether the entirety of the stories will actually see the light of day is another story, but for now I'm content with my plans. Now I'm just wondering if anyone will even read this or if any of my subscribers (a whole 20 of you, God bless) noticed the similarity. Either way, I'm done writing this and will hopefully updates both stories soon and more consistently. Thank you for reading.

Xoxo Kate
