— youngae stands at 165cm and weighs 52kg. as an avid exerciser, she is very proud to say that she has a rounded, easy to spot and a set of strong abdominal muscles. since she grew up along the coast of california youngae has slightly darker creamy skin, but fair enough for korean standards. her round face is often described as sweet looking and her full, plump lips easily form into a pout, though she can be seen with a smile. perhaps the most noticeable feature of hers is her almond shaped eyes, double lidded, surrounded by dark lashes, and totally capable to burning a hole through your head. she has light brown hair that falls to the middle of the back and always seems to be in loose curls or natural waves.

while she isn't aggressive, youngae has expressed her inability to control her anger. it can lead her to hold grudges against those she thinks has wronged her. youngae is horribly impatient and has a very low tolerance for waiting because she wants things fast and quick. in fact, she can even express impatience with her training, but if someone can soothe her down she calms down and reminds herself that patience would bring her success. while youngae is confident in her baking and agent skills, she does become very insecure if someone compares her skills to another individual's. it causes her to doubt her own abilities and needs to be reassured by others, such as checking in with cinderella and the white rabbit. youngae easily overlooks the flaws of others due to her sweet nature, but she believes her own imperfections are unforgiveable. she is never satisfied with "good enough," and pushes herself to gain "perfection." she's the kind of person who would not sleep a wink when it comes to perfecting their talent.

bckground.

youngae was born on a warm summer's day on august 21st, 2001, in anaheim, california. her father, andrew van duyk, was a dutch american man while her mother, ryu jaekyung, was a korean american woman. they met four years prior to youngae's birth, when jaekyung visited a new bakery in los angeles and noticed one of the charming pastry chefs, who happened to be andrew. after a whirlwind romance, they married after two years of dating and settled in the town of anaheim. youngae grew up without any siblings, because her parents wanted to only spoil one princess. since she lived just fifteen minutes away from disneyland, youngae's childhood was filled with magical visits to the amusement park. her childhood was also filled with beautiful desserts and elegantly decorated cakes, since her father loved bringing his daughter to his workplace. sometimes, the little girl was asked to do simple tasks, like watch the oven or crack eggs, which she eagerly accepted. this sparked her interest in baking, and her parents soon enrolled her in baking classes, where she showed talent and became one of the top students.

however, tradegy struck the family. when youngae was twelve, her father was killed by a drunk driver while he was returning home from work. youngae was devastated, and she turned to baking to cope with the loss. she was well liked in school because of her friendly personality and her ability to create delicious desserts. for a moment, youngae thought that she and her mother would be fine on their own. until her stepfather came into the picture three years after andrew's death. youngae's stepfather was introduced to her mother through mutual friends and they instantly hit off. after a year of dating he proposed to her and asked her to move to seoul with him. youngae didn't want to leave america, but she wanted her mother to be happy.

so the summer before youngae was to start her senior year in high school, she moved to seoul, where she suffered extreme culture shock. while her mother was excited to be in her home country, youngae didn't feel welcomed. her stepsisters, who she thought she could be friends with, half-white roots. she's hoping she can make friends once school starts.

lovestory. 

— the girls are called to the planet montressor, where a pirate criminal named ironbeard is terrorizing towns and stealing money. their first fight with him is shaky, since the girls are adjusting to the space environment and their powers aren't as strong as they usually are. youngae engages in a shootout with ironbeard, and she's down to the last glass bullet of the day. ironbeard is about to shoot at youngae when someone pushes her to the ground and protects her from ironbeard. youngae is shocked to discover the person who saved her is jim hawkins, the main protangonist of treasure planet, one of her favorite disney movies. the intergalatic police sent him to work with the agents to defeat ironbeard, but the criminal escapes before they can do anything.
— since ironbeard is still out there, jim has to meet the agents regularly to discuss tactics. youngae is the first of the group to strike a friendship with her, but she can't stop blushing and stumbling over her words because jim was her first disney boy crush and the fact that he's actually in the flesh is overwhelming. luckily, one of her fellow agents notices the crush and mischievously suggests that youngae should be the one planning with jim on how to capture ironbeard. at first they only to talk about ironbeard, but then they begin spending time alone outside as friends.
— most of the time youngae initiates the conversation, since she talks so much, and jim likes to patiently listen to her. but both notice that they can talk to one another very easily. they both know what it's like to lose their fathers so they find comfort in each other's company. jim loves taking youngae on his boat to see the galaxies and she's just fascinated because the stars are so much brighter and beautiful than the ones in the real world. he is a true gentleman to her, always opening the door for her and giving her his jacket when she feels cold.
— eventually ironbeard is defeated and taken to prison, but youngae still continues to visit montressor for jim. she even brings him some of her desserts, which he thins are the best in the world. she opens up about her troubles with her family to him and he always tells her to follow her heart in response. he becomes incredibly protective of her, so if he hears from the white rabbit that she's hurt, he always rushes to her side. he realizes that he's fallen in love with her soon after noticing his protective tendencies.
— but youngae never told him about the 10 year system, so when he finds out through one of the faeritael people, he becomes angry with her for keeping it a secret. he's scared of getting hurt and fights hard to quell down his feelings for her. youngae apologizes and begs him to understand, but for the first time, he's too stubborn to give in, so she stops visiting montressor to give him space.
— after an incident where youngae was almost taken captive by the evil queen, jim realizes that he was stupid to ignore her. they make up and confirm their feelings for each other. although they know that jim is going to forget youngae in the next life, they try to spend as much time as they have as a couple. 

theending. 

— faeritael's 10 year system finally comes to an end and youngae and jim spend their last day together. he takes her solar surfing one more time before taking her back to his family's inn for a party. all his friends and his mother are there to celebrate youngae's last night and she can't help but cry because she's going to miss all of them. during the party youngae and jim have one last dance and it's a bittersweet moment. she wants to remember jim's warm smile and the comforting feel of his hand around her waist forever. after their dance he brings her outside where they have their last conversation together.
"youngae, promise me you'll fight for your dreams and become the best pastry chef ever, okay? you have to stand up to your mother and stepfather and tell them that this is what you want."
"i will jim, and gosh, if i could stay here forever and open up a bakery next to your mom's inn, i would."

and then they share their final kiss as the clock strikes midnight and youngae is whisked away to the reality as faeritael resets its world and people. 
— somehow the polaroid picture of youngae stays among jim's belongings during the reincarnation of faeritael and doesn't get erased, so when the reborn jim finds it while cleaning his room, he's left to wonder who that beautiful, mysterious girl is.
