10 spooky things that have happened to me

There are a lot of things that I like about being alone: the freedom of going around in underwear, the loud music that I can sing to and of course cooking different things that I would like without concerning about the calories I’m taking in the moment and my mom telling me that there is no food and yada, yada, but one of the things I hate the most, it’s ironically, being alone. It’s not that I am an immature person or that I am a mommy and daddy’s little girl but the only problem with me is that I am sensitive to paranormal or spooky things.

I have been thinking that everything comes from my mind and that particular phobia to stay alone, but sometimes things are too inexplicable to actually find a rational way to explain it. But it’s funny and interesting to experience these things that lead me to the edge of my own emotions and mind blowing moments.

So this is 10 spooky things that have happened to me:

  1. My house is little; my dad, mom and I had enough space for ourselves but it’s funny how sometimes we bump into each other in the kitchen or in the living room and joke about the fact we are taking “too much space”. We have thought to make it a bit bigger, with a second floor, but my country’s economic situation it’s a bit shaky and the materials and tools to build a second floor are very expensive, but we still feel happy with our little castle because it’s ours. We have been from rented house to rented house until we found this place and we just happened to love it and treasure it as it deserves. However, this house has a little story; the mother’s owner lived here and like us, she really loved and protected her house; we guess that maybe that’s the reason why is so little, because it was meant to only have one habitant even though it has two rooms.

When she died, the owner sold the house to a couple with financial problems: my parents. By that time I had 13/14 years old and I was glad to move to a new house, because even if I couldn’t make any friends for the constant moving, I still found it exciting. Anyway, we moved and we started to live well here, but things got a little bit weird and no, it’s not a bad ghost. Actually it’s funny because she moves things around, fixes flower vessels, fixes my mom’s plants and even sometimes, we can hear like keys sounding on the door, like if someone was searching the key to open it, but the door is open.

This is not every day of course, but when she does it, she does it very big. I haven’t saw her but my mom has and she is 100% sure that she protects and takes care of the house when we are not around, not only because it’s her house but because she somehow thinks she’s still alive, why? Because her name is the same as my mother, so every time someone calls my mom at the door, she thinks they are calling her; that’s what keeps her alert.

Also, according to my mother, she is happy with us here because we love the house very much and we keep it pretty and organized, besides she says that our energy as family (although sometimes we are not that perfect and enthusiastic) makes her feel welcomed, like she is not bothering us. Because well, she is not.

BUT THIS IS ONE THING HAPPENED TO ME.

A few years ago, her granddaughter and daughter of the former owner who is our neighbor, died of an infection. She was around 10/11 years old at the time. My mom felt her but I did saw her. One night I was procrastinating until very late and fell sleep around 2A.M, I had the door open, just because, and turned off the TV so I could sleep. However, I felt someone turning the lights of my room on, I opened my eyes and the lights went off again, then on again, then off, like someone was playing with the switch, at first I though the light bulb was failing, but I was wrong.

I saw her playing with the switch, up and down, up and down.

My heart paralyzed in the moment, I felt desires to scream out loud but guess I was so shocked by what I was watching that I didn’t. It make me understand that those horror movies where the principal character goes  and “gets close” to whatever they are watching, it’s pure bull because I won’t ever be able to gathered the strengths to go near that spirit whatsoever. So I stayed like a rock in my bed as I watched that girl playing with my light, it’ felt so real, so vividly that I would never think it was a dream.

  1. One day, I was alone in my house, it was day light, the sun was burning the Earth that day. I was in the living room reading a book when suddenly I heard someone calling my name. I thought someone was outside my door, some friend or some neighbor but when I opened the door there was nobody there. I sat again and took my book believing it was my imagination and suddenly again; crystal clear, someone called my name. I went out again to see and no one was around. I never thought it was an annoying kid or anything like that as I don’t know a lot of little kids in my neighborhood and they for sure don’t know my name.

I thought on my friends, but they don’t come by without calling first, so for me it was very odd. I called my mom and asked if she came but had to leave again because she forgot something and she was like “I am on my way actually” so my mom wasn’t. I called my dad and he said he was in his office still so he wasn’t either. I shook it off because it was day light and there was clarity on my house, anything looked exactly like a horror movie so I thought I was only hallucinating that.

But again, someone called my name and I was so frustrated with that that I yelled “ WHAT DO YOU WANT?!” and the phone rang suddenly. I stayed there, thinking that Samara has come for me after I watched The Ring; I was ready to tell her she was a little late but when I picked up, it was my grandmother who lives in the Capital. I talked normal with her and she suddenly told me: “I had a dream with you, I was outside the house there in Merida and I was calling you but you didn’t go out. What were you doing, young lady?” She finished with a joke and my jaw dropped to the floor when she said that. The thing is that, the voice didn’t sound like my grandmother’s but she was sick and her voice didn’t sound like her at all anyway.

  1. I stayed in one of my friends to have a movie night session with her. We bought some snacks and soda, to eat until we got full; we also prepare some mini cheeseburgers and mini hot dogs to get even fatter but we didn’t care, we were eating what we loved the most. As the night went by and we watch every movie we had on our list, we heard a little noise outside the room. We were alone because her mother works in an Assurance Call Center and she had her night shift. We only were with her little sister but she is the kind of independent child so she was in her room doing nothing with some other snacks I bought her (Now that I remember this, it was so good when I was working and the economic crisis of my country wasn’t that hard, that I could buy and do whatever I ing wanted).

We heard this noise and at first we didn’t paid attention because she lives in an apartment building and these noises are constant and very normal. But we heard it again and again and again and we started to wonder what that truly was. We paused the movie and went out of the room in our tiptoes, scare to death, we peeked on her youngest sister’s room and she was wrapped in her blanket like a burrito, eating her snacks deep into her laptop with her earphones on, so we took her out of possible suspects of this noise. As we got close to the living room, we spotted the doors of her balcony open and that scared the out of us because I CLOSED THOSE DOORS MYSELF! My friend started to ask me if I “locked them strong enough” and I gave a positive answer, but then I started to giggled as she walked towards the door to closed it, she turned around confused and asked me what was wrong with me, so I answered “you and that girl of your rented room are playing a joke on me, that’s why Bianca is so chill”, she was even more confused and say “what girl? We are only us three”, I laughed again and said “cut the bullsh*t” she started to shake her head and told me “dude, that girl moved out months ago, what the ”.

We both panic and went back to her room, trying to forget everything like it never happened. We started to watch little and cute cats videos and even watched a comedy and romantic film, trying to get that moment out. But then, after a while, Bianca peeked on our room and said “hey, does Liliana still have keys of the house?” my friend asked why and she answered. “I saw her in the kitchen”

We three slept together.

  1. Ok, this one happened to me recently. I think some of you saw that on the Feed. But I’ll explain with more details in this one.

My grandmother is small and very old, she needs someone to take care of her during night as she turned into a kid and it’s afraid to be alone; my dad has three brothers and with him, they are four, so each one of them takes care of her and the reminded three days are shared between my two cousins and me, although one of them went to Italy and we stayed alone, we manage to keep going and sleep by her side for her to not feel so insecure and lonely. We usually stay all night and go out around 9, when her personal daily nurse arrived to make her breakfast, lunch, midday snack and dinner. My mom was in a trip to the capital for some business and that night, was my dad’s night to go to her house.

I stayed alone around 7P.M after he left and as I so often do, I got shower, did my homework and went to bed.

But something kept me like uncomfortable and scared so I let the TV on, I don’t do this so often but that night I felt someone was watching my in the darkest part of my room. I let the TV on watching The Powerpuff Girls and fell sleep. Only by waking up with the sound of my alarm and realized the TV was off. I checked everything guys: my remote, I checked if I, in any time, configured the clock and the automatic turn off, I checked if there was a black out, I checked if my dad arrived earlier.

Nothing.

I told my mother about it and she said that it wasn’t something bad and that I should chill out. But ehm… Nope.

  1. When I was little, I lived in Caracas (the Capital), my mom worked as the administration boss at one of the most powerful companies in Venezuela: Empresas Polar. My dad was working in a ring factory but also was traveling back and forth from Caracas to where we currently live, Merida.

One day we were driving in the principal avenue and happened to drive in front of a textile factory, where wedding dresses and all kinds of other types of dresses were made, it was one of the most popular in that time but no one really knew how the process inside was. Yeah, they made dresses and stuff but no one really knew the inside or if they made something else as back in those days, let cameras inside public (from the government) establishments wasn’t very legal. My mom said that I took out my head through the window and said “I worked there”. Both of them stayed in silence and looked at each other with a whatthef*cked face and laughed at me, asking me questions like: when, where, how? And I answered “in my other life, but I wasn’t from this country I think I born in some other place, they have those machine in 10 lines, 5 in each line, like what the other kids and I do before going inside the salon and they made their own fabric: they’re green, yellow, blue and pink, my favorite is the pink! it’s pretty cute!” They stayed in silence once again.

After that happened, a few days later, the government open the fabric for the public view for the first time; so my dad went there out of curiosity. They had built a long and big window where you could see what was inside and guess what? Everything was as I described it, from the machines organized in 10 lines of 5 each and the fabric’s colors I said it was.

It can be coincidence of course it can. But the fact that it was closed to the public eye and I still could describe what was inside as a 5 year old, it’s kind of creepy and fantastic at the same time.

And extra information: now that fabric is closed.

  1. This quiet spooky.

I was on my way back to my house from the faculty and I sat next to an old lady on the bus. She was very very but very old and I was extra careful to be by her side as she looked so fragile and weak and I swear I didn’t want to hurt her. I’m very sensitive and respectful with old people so I pay attention whether they need help or just want to talk. Let me tell you, the best stories come from old people; they are like a coffer of experience and history and for me is just amazing.

However this lady never spoke to me in any way, she didn’t even saw my face or even looked at me from the corner of her eye. I know she didn’t so I can even swear upon it. When her stop arrived, I stood up to let her walk before me and to go off the bus with all the space I could offer her, I didn’t had to help her gone off as a young man got in charge of that from outside the bus. Suddenly, when she was walking past me, she said “your grandfather says hi and to please wash the dishes when you get home because your mom is hella busy”.

I stayed IN SHOCK; first: my grandfather died 4 years ago and how could she possibly know what my mother was doing or the state of my house? When I arrived my mom told me “can you wash the dishes? I’m so busy with this paper work I might cry”.

  1. This one is short but very effective.

I was on the kitchen of the house I currently live in and I was serving myself a bowl of cereal. I putted the sugar right beside me and I went to get the cereal, when I opened the cabinet… the sugar was there and the cereal was on the place I left the sugar.

  1. I play guitar since I have 10 years old, although when I started to grow up and get more interested in my notes in school I forgot about it; I still have my guitar in my room anyway as I don’t dare to sale it or anything, she is like my baby, actually her name is Faith.

But that is not the story, one time I was in the dining table making one of my homework of school and I heard my guitar falling on my room, I went there and search for it but when I saw it, it was perfectly standing in her pedestal, so I figure I was just hearing things my neighbors were doing. When I came back, I heard like if it was being played. I was shocked, because I literally heard the strings making sounds. I went to my room again and the noise stopped.

My mother went back home that day from  work early and I told her what had happened, she told me something in a tone of joke that I took very serious: “maybe she is sad because you don’t play it anymore”

  1. I was coming back from a night out with friends, my old house was at the end of this urbanization with a big gate so my friend’s mom left me outside the urbanization as I didn’t have the remote to open the gate, I took my keys and went inside to walk toward my house. I wasn’t drunk or high or anything as this “night out” was actually movies, snacks and Cola, nothing of liquor, drugs and , just so you know, I was only like 13 or 14 years old by that time.

I was walking slowly because I felt secure in my urbanization. I turned around to see if my mom’s friend have left when I saw the figure of a man standing outside the gate staring at me, he started to wave and I was so confused, but I wasn’t scare in that moment as he was outside the gate. I returned my eyes to the front but something made me speed up my steps, so I started to almost run, I got the keys of my house in my hands and my mom texted me in that moment that she was starting to open the door for me and that I should not worry, however, when curiosity won the best of me and turned back, the shape of the man was this time inside the urbanization, waving at me, this time I truly ran, praying that thing won’t get close to me; when I look back it was again waving but this time he was closer and I started to panic, it was pure black, I didn’t saw anything else.

I arrived to the house in the moment my mom was coming out and I told her to come inside the house quickly because there was a man outside following me, I was scare like no tomorrow. My dad went out with a bat and there was nobody out there. The next day I told my friends of the urbanization about it and they all have saw the figure, that thing always waves from outside the urbanization but according to them, the moment I saw it was the first time that thing ever came inside.

THANK GOD I MOVE OUT!

          10. This one is short too.

A few days back, before the thing of the TV. There was a blackout and I was by myself. It was around 5PM and I was getting scare because my parents weren’t on the house and it was starting to get dark. I got a lantern we have charging so we can have some light when this happens so I putted on top of the fridge and stayed seated in the couch, waiting for the electricity and my parents. Never knew what was going to happen. I was there in total silence because my phone was dead and then bom, the lantern turned off and I totally stayed in the dark. I started to search for some candles when I bump into something, I don’t know what it was but I got so scare I wanted to cry because I am sensitive to that sh*t, but then the electricity arrived suddenly and all the lights of my house brighten the place.

Never knew what that was.

So, yeah, I have a few others but I don’t want to write a long blog about it, only the ones I found important and spooky the most. You can share with me any spooky things that have ever happened to you, just so we can both be hunted – laughs – I’m joking.

Your stories kindda make me want to question a coincidence of sort that happened with me...
I was waiting on train station for my train to arrive. My mother came to drop me off. It was very early morning in winter and fog was so dense that visibility was barely 7 meters, so all the trains were running late. I didn't care much because I was busy chatting and laughing with my mother. There were other people on train station but not many. So we were chatting and all and suddenly an old women came walking towards us. we thought she would either sit with us or on the seats beside us so I scooted over but she didn't sit with us, instead she sat on ing cold floor and leaned against the pillar that was in front of us.it was weird because like all the seats were empty pretty much but we shrugged it off until she started eyeing me. She pretty much scanned me from top to bottom (there wasn't much to scan I was wearing heavy jackets/scarf/gloves and all but she started me like she could she through lol) this continued for like five minutes, she wouldn't bat an eyelash just stared me. My mother and I looked at each several times wondering how to react.
My mother finally reacted and asked the old women if she wants anything.
Old women answered pointing to me "Is she sick?"
my mother pretty much yelled a No but then she started smiling at me, very creepily like it was creeeeeeepy.
My mother decided it was enough and we moved towards different side of station, train was late anyway. we didn't see her again.
Two weeks later, I fell sick, it was possibly for the first in my life that I was sick to the point I was on bed for two freaking months. I won't go into details of what happened to me but I barely survived.
I actually had forgotten the incidence of train station until my mother mentioned it six months later.
To this day I wonder if it was a coincidence or she could actually see my incoming fate.
