Designer QNA

Stolen from taepeach, thank you!

I'm bored so I decided to do it. Excuse my poor writing and describing skills.
Everyone who wants to do it is tagged :)

1. How long have you been designing?

I've been designing for 3 years (since mid 2014 but with a year long hiatus, and then half a year long hiatus). On AFF I started after the second hiatus in May last year. Since then I'd say I've been pretty consistent with my work.

2. What do you use to design?

At first I was using GIMP (my two first posters were made in GIMP). In June last year I switched to Photoshop. At first I didn't like how things were turning out, but I got used to it quickly. As for now, I'm not even sure I'd be able to move around GIMP. But still, I'm not able to uninstall it lol.

3. What's your first ever poster? What's your latest poster?

My first ever poster ( 21th May 2017), but since I didn't start on AFF, I figured it would be only fair that I also include one of my older works. Both are horrible, but at least I can see some improvement. Kinda.

As for the latest, I'm not the proudest, because I was really struggling with this one and I had literally no idea what to do with the prompt, but here it goes.

4. Which genres are your strengths?

I don't think I have any particular strenghts. But I really like some melancholic and light settings, so maybe like angst/sliceoflife and fluff?
And romcoms are fun, too. But only when you have a defined idea of what you want to make lol.

5. Which genres are your weaknesses?

Definitely . That and some very dark stories are nightmares for me.

6. What's your design style?

I really have no idea. Soft and overcrowded, I guess? I like focusing and light colors, lights and blurring. I usually like the posters to focus on characters' faces. Only with romcoms I try to widen the perspective a bit.
I really like simple designs, but when it comes to my works I just can't do simple things, because I always think I didn't put enough effort into it.

7. Do you own a graphic shop?

Established Jelly Bubble almost a year ago. Even though it's not really big at all, it still exceeded any of my expectations. I'm really proud of our team.

8. Do you work for a graphic shop?

Yes! I'm working with very talented and hardworking people at Timelapse. The shop is currently on hiatus, but check it out anyway!

9. Are there any designers you look up to?

There are lots - krystal15 is a huuge inspiration for me, omona-mark, bbyjhoseok, xthereal, -Qyuri and Asphyxy are just some of them.

10. What's your favourite poster to date?

That one is really hard, but I'll try lol.

11. What's your least favourite poster to date?

And that will be easy.

12. How long does it usually take for you to finish a poster?

It really depends. Sometimes it takes like two hours, sometimes I do a bit on one day and then finish it on the other. I never keep track of time when I'm working, so I simply don't know much about how much time it takes me.

13. Do you have a portfolio?

Yup, I have a portfolio for all my work (click) and also one for only posters (click).

14. Do you join graphic contests?

Yeah, whenever I have time and I don't have any requests. I'm just doing it for the sake of doing graphic, but I don't really expect to win.

15. If you write stories, do you make your own posters?

I'm not writing, but if I were I'd most likely do all the designing.

Thank you everyone who has read it all!

last thing i expect was to see my username up there :'D

you definitely rock the soft and 'overcrowded' style (coincidentally my favorite works of yours are destiny of yesterday and beyond the dark too hehe). congrats on your successes, may you and your team continue to grow <3
