Designer QNA

Thanks to K for introducing this to me XD I personally love making (and seeing) these sort of things whoots. Not tagging anyone, but you if you ever decide to do it I'll prolly be your stalker hehe.

1. How long have you been designing?
The first time I started out of curiosity was back in 2012, but it was nothing serious and more of a experiment kinda thing. I stopped after trying out for a month or two, and took a reallylong hiatus from aff until 2015. I only began to fully involve myself in 2015, so I'd say, I've been doing this for around 2.5 years?

2. What do you use to design?
For the first year, I used GIMP to edit (bc a noobie like me couldn't find the right crack file for a free PS lol, and I always had the impression that PS was really difficult to learn), until I finally got the guts to try out Photoshop in July 2017. As you can guess I definitely fell head over heels with CS6, and I've been using it ever since ;u;

3. What's your first ever poster? What's your latest poster?
I've never joined any graphic shops back in the past, so I mostly designed for my own personal stories. I've long lost the very first ever edit I've made, but this is probably the next closest thing to my debut work lol.

And now in 2018, this is my latest work, a request from one of the shops I work at: Eighteenth Street hosted by the ever sweet Mina ;u; I wouldn't say I've been great at improving (though I know I definitely have), but I guess what makes me say that is how long it took me to get this far? But yeah, what matters in the end is I still made it after all, and I'm thankful to everyone who've helped me in this journey :')

4. Which genres are your strengths?
I'd like to think I'm good at dark themes. What I love about making graphics is actually blending, and I feel dark themes are easier to create satisfactory results more than bright themes. However, I feel like I've improved somewhat in creating fluff posters, which I would list as my next strength. I enjoy fluff for the large range of creativity I can have with it, of which most of the time I end up making manips, which is my third strength. Manips are something I've enjoyed and gotten into recently, and I must say I'm really amazed at myself with the manips I've done for my writing contest Reveur.

5. Which genres are your weaknesses?
Sci-Fi, Comedy, and Action ;u;

6. What's your design style?
A common aspect that I can find between my posters is definitely the use of textures and lots of blending. I also love strong, natural colors, which is why I rarely make black and white graphics unless a requestor wants me to. I mostly use reds and blues, something close to the natural world because I personally find it weird having overly red/pink skin or too much bright blue. Most of the time I would unsaturate yellows and greens. As for typography, I prefer using different fonts for different words if it's a long title. Using the same one throughout makes me feel really stagnant xD

7. Do you own a graphic shop?
I own fairvoyance graphics, where I work with a team of amazing designers (shoutout to doublemint, seya__, leonny and sekaii). Click on the banner to be directed!

8. Do you work for a graphic shop?
I currently work for Eighteenth Street, owned by Overdose_Kpoppers.

9. Are there any designers you look up to?
Where does the list even start and end? There are so many people I admire, and here are some of them (in no particular order): shin-oppa, ryhanna, overdose_kpoppers, bbyjhoseok, shirotakashi, lolthebulge, omona-mark, lisett, temper, moon_minhee, and slytherin.

10. What's your favourite poster to date?
To be honest I can't choose a specific favourite, I like individual works for various reasons, but here are a couple of my most favorite:

11. What's your least favourite poster to date?
Well there's a long list to this question, but here are the contenders. Basically, they don't have much life, nor any style to be proud of ;u;

12. How long does it usually take for you to finish a poster?
The thing that drags my work process is definitely the time I take experimenting with textures and backgrounds, and if I can't decide what to do with a request that says 'do anything you like'. The fastest I've done is probably half an hour, while the longest took me three days (I redid that poster almost 5 times because of how unsatisfied I was lol), but on average, a typical poster would take me about 2-3 hours.

13. Do you have a portfolio?
I post my works for requests on my tumblr, and I have a portfolio here where I upload some personal graphics I make, called Lucidian. Click on the banner to be redirected!

14. Do you join graphic contests?
From the start, I have never joined a single contest bc I'm insecure af and I don't have any confidence to ;u;

15. If you write stories, do you make your own posters?
I do create my own posters at times, though recently I've decided to start requesting since I love seeing how others are able to portray my story in their own style.

And here's the end. Thanks for viewing!
