personality — 

Yein always be the one who put others feeling before him, since he has two younger siblings makes him grown into teenager that cared for other peoples and really mature for boys at his age. He support to those he care, giving them advice or pep talk when they feeling sad and shoulders to cry on. He rarely cried himself, and doesn't like to show his weakness to other. When he feeling sad Yein likes to put on a mask of smile, saying that he feel okay but in reality it's not, if nobody around then he poured all his feelings that's been bottle up inside of him until he satisfied. Both of his parents always working and rarely at home so his very independent, cooking, doing household and caring for his younger sister and brother, he really like to clean things and consider himself a clean freak so he always in-charge of cleaning the dorm with the help of the other members. He has an insecurities, with his voice because others often make fun of his high-pitched feminine voice but he manage to overcome his insecurity by singing in youtube even thought he still has it a little. He had gentle personality, and always treat everyone in gentleness and cares, that makes every person he treated looks vulnerable because of his warm gentle aura and never treats a person with rudeness willing to listen about their problems and a good listener. Yein will always support every members, most of the time he always sent a support messages toward members that has a solo activities, even went so far to meet them in the locations to as a warm support, that's shown how much supportive and cares he is toward other Surge members.
 
Behind those gentle and fresh smiles, lies a boy who is very awkward when meeting new peoples, he always had a hard-time making friends so he didn't have many friends but if you became his friend, he'll be always be there for you when needed. At first he'll be awkward and tried to speak to you as much as he needed to keep the conversation going, then when it's finally click together it shown just how warm and friendly Yein is. He rarely rely on other peoples except his family especially his sister, ever since he was just a little boy his parents always told him not rely on others, the only one who can he rely on is himself putting even more stress on him because sometime some problems it's too big for him to handles, deep inside his heart he always longing finding a person who he can rely on. He has lend so many peoples his shoulders but he actually never being on someone shoulder even his sister because he can't let his sister has another burden, so you can say that he haven't met someone who close enough to tell his burdens and hardships in his life. Most of the time he just cried in empty room or bed until he fell asleep.
 
But there's a time the gentle Yein turn into scary one, he always try to put his feeling under control and being patience whenever he met someone who pissed him, or hurt somebody he cares so there's no drama or even bigger problem. If you trigger him too much, he will show his mischievous side such as pranking them, there's one time he decide to prank one of his fellow trainee who thought they are better than him while bullying his friends, he prank them by catching non-poisonous snake near his apartment wild garden, both him and his friend pour the snakes all over the trainee newest car in the middle of night and the next day they never heard about that trainee again. He never throw a tantrums when his really mad he will smile but not the usual gentle smile he always wear but a sweet sinister one that would make you shiver down to spines, his voice still sound gentle but you could feel every word his says fills angryness and threatening tones, eyes that can see into your soul, that no one want to see on the gentle and caring Yein.

background — 

• Yein born in Seoul, South Korea in 10 November 1999. He's the second child of three children, his family are just like any other regular family. He's mom working as a stewardess, she always travel to another countries and rarely at home while his dad working in Japan so he always communicating via video calls his wife and childrens three times a week and visit them once a month while his older sister Yerim busy studying and working in college. So Yein is the one who fill his mom position as the middle child, doing household work, accompany his younger brother to pre-school, cooking for his siblings everyday, caring for his youngest brother, and pose as his guardian when their mom aren't around.
 
  • He always dream to become a singer one day, he sing everyday and anywhere whenever he sings all his worries dissapear, he felt he could do anything and be free. Yein express all his feelings and words toward singing, escape from his hectic life balancing both school and taking care of his siblings. One day his sister, Yerim, suggest him to create Youtube channel because she thought her younger brother voice is beautiful and have to share it to the world, at first Yein a bit hesitant about this because even though he love to sing, there's always someone who's making fun of his high-pitched feminine voice making him insecure about his voice because most of the boys who hit 10 year old already change into deeper voice, he tried so hard to ignore those insults coming from his classmates so he it wouldn't affects his love for singing and music but he couldn't help being hurt by those insults and mocking laughter everytime he speaks, once he tried to lower his tone voice making it sound weird, and he often mistaken as a girl with his high-pitched voice and cute petite appearance, but in order to get over his insecurities for his unique singing voice he decide to accept Yerim suggestion.
 
  • The username of his Youtube channel is Yenny Song he post over 20 videos of him singing covers of his favorite songs and has gain for over more than 1.000 subscribers and view promotions on his channel in 2 years, and Yerim as the channel manager the one who handle replies (sometime he  also reply to the commenters/fans), song requests for his next video and edited the videos while Yein learning how to edit his videos alone, because his sister not always available with homeworks and college projects. Yein feel very hesitant and unconfident at first time he singing in front of camera, but the more he sing he became more confident and enjoy himself in front of camera, even tried to do many expressions such as cute, funny and weird to entertain his subscribers. He's glad that many peoples enjoy and likes his singing even some said that he sound like a professional singer or has a very unique sound in his voice, there's still someone who didn't like his voice but he learn how to brush them off and sing to his heart-content without care what other people think. The only things his worried about is what if his insecurites will return one day. He consider to keep the channel going even after his graduates from school as a side-job, until Park Studio sent him an email from his Youtube channel saying that they want him to do audition for open audition in the agency. Yein felt honor and shock that his talent been recognize by talent agency in South Korea, Yerim again encourage him to audition for Park Studio which later, Yein being accepted there at age 12. 
 
 • As for the Youtube channel, he didn't forget to make a video to say final massage to his fans and subcribers, saying that this will not be the last time they'll seeing him and end the video not before saying thank you to all his supporters in his Youtube journey. He decide not to delete his channel just in case.    

CONNECTIONS — 

▪ Song Yerim | Older Sister | Yerim and Yein have a really close relationship, Yerim support her younger brother as idol, always worry and protective of him. She's always there when he need her the most, even as trainee he always call and keep in-touch when he need some emotional support. Especially after blood, sweat and tears he's experiences in his years as trainee and idol.

▪ Kim Sunyeol  | Close Friend | Sunyeol and Yein met when he first became trainees, Sunyeol are older than him in 1 year which not much older. At first Yein very awkward with him when they partner up as singing partner but as they trained together become close each other, to the point that Yein pranking his fellow trainee when they bullied Sunyeol because of his dancing skill so they couldn't mess with him and Sunyeol. While Sunyeol saw Yein as little brother and close friend. But too bad that the older boy has to left the company because of his health issues, which makes Yein heartbroken but they always keep in-touch via text messages.

He smile nervously when he thinking back, at the dorm and the chaos "to be honest... I didn't really mind with 12 members, even thought it can be noisy sometime".

do you think yourself better or worse than the other members that share your position? — Yein tilt his head slightly while thinking about all other members that share his talents position  "I feel confident about my singing voice and my dancing skills but I think each of us has it own unique talent that complement each others" He smile softly.

did you involve yourself in any physical altercations? — 

He shake his head shortly "I really hate violences, specially when there's somebody hurting..." he shivers as he think about the group agrument when it came really heated.

in group arguments, do you prefer to speak your mind or stay quiet? — He seem to be ready being ask this type of question, as he sigh and frown but quickly revert into smile that didn't reach his eyes "it's good to have an agrument once in awhile, it can get all of us closer together. But when it gets out of hand... someone has to say something". 

you have a chance to start over somewhat in this new unit group. what changes will you make to yourself, if any? — 

"I think it's for the best, considering what's happen in backstage on M! Countdown..." He didn't want to go back to that time again "I think I want to get even more closer, and less awkward around them" Yein hopes they could get a fresh start and less drama between the members as they finally spilt into two groups.
