MADELINE pronounced mad-uh-line, this was jangmi's english name used on a daily basis back when she resided in australia. now, in korea, nobody calls jangmi by this name besides the members of the foreign swaggers only when they converse in english.
ANT WAIST as much as the boycotting netizens may find reasons to dislike lumière and jangmi, both the group's fans and haters must admit that jangmi is genetically blessed with quite the figure; but it's her unbelievably small waist that caught the public's attention. with the help of her stylists, it's no surprise that the form-fitting clothes would accentuate her praiseworthy body proportions and tiny waist. it was the group's fans who began spreading the nickname, ant waist, around the internet along with photos of the lead vocalist's figure as evidence.
KID MOM (꼬마 엄마) this contradicting nickname was given to jangmi by her members because of her child-like energy going hand in hand with her mother-like support. rather than a domestic mom who takes responsibility of caring and watching over others, jangmi is moreso like a soccer mom. always being the first one to show excessive reactions and hyping up her fellow members, i guess you could say jangmi is actually not lumière's lead vocalist but their number one fan.

001 jangmi is an oblivious carrier of inherent aegyo. often seen brightly grinning and speaking in a slow, innocent tone, the girl is not even aware herself of her unintentional manner. it took some time for the girl's fellow peers to realize that jangmi wasn't deliberately trying to act cute; it was just a part of her nature. after lumière debuted and began appearing on variety shows, jangmi was often targeted by the boycotting netizens for her "try-hard" façade, labelling her as "fake," "annoying," "cringey," and as far as "obnoxious." this led to a period of time where jangmi stood in the back and dampened her presence as much as possible, speaking quietly only when addressed to and catching herself when she felt like she was getting too enthusiastic or excited.

TRAINING YEARS five years and ten months.
TRAINING LIFE it was on the first month of 2011 when jangmi was on her winter break. having nothing to do but mindlessly scroll through youtube, the girl came across a full video of girls' generation's concert in japan. to say the girl was mindblown would be an understatement. never has she witnessed such an exciting and goosebump-inducing performance in her thirteen years of living. having such a difficult time getting the catchy lyrics and charismatic dance moves out of her head, it wasn't long before jangmi started picturing herself in their spot, wondering what it would be like to perform in a large arena like them. and that's how the girl soon found herself nervously standing outside of the judges' room at one of the big three's main building: sm entertainment. it was a bit of a stretch if she thought about it. her? being in the same position as the girls' generation?
jangmi was able to push past her overwhelming nerves however, going through with a satisfactory audition by singing beyoncé's irreplaceable along with a decent freestyle to a random hit song around that time. seeing how the girl harbored a unique voice and enthusiastic dancing skills along with an attractive face and admirable body proportions, the judges didn't need much discussing before realizing jangmi had potential, hence explaining her unexpected acceptance to the dream company a week later. upon her entrance to the company, it was jangmi's endearing friendliness and innocent optimism that overcame her anxious thoughts, pushing her to train hard all the while befriending the other trainees. having been stuck in what the smtown fans would like to call "the basement" for nearly six years, there inevitably were times where the girl lost hope and wanted to give up, tired of asking herself when she will be able to debut.
this sense of hopelessness peaked around the preparation for sm's newest girl group: red velvet. though jangmi constantly doubted herself of possibly being in the list of members, there was also that small sliver of hope that maybe she will make it after three years of blood, sweat and tears. but it was the girl's doubt that proved to be victorious, seeing how the company just didn't see her as debut-ready. her fellow male trainees gradually debuting as sm's newest boy group project, nct, soon after didn't help much either. but it was those freshly-debuted members and jangmi's fellow trainees that encouraged her to fight on and hold on to the dreams and goals that brought her there in the first place. and so she did.
REACTION TO BOYCOTT the girl was optimistic, bright as expected! smoothly rubbing the fellow members' backs with a reassuring smile, telling them everything is going to be alright, promising that they will get there. but behind that strong and encouraging friend was a broken and intimidated girl, lost beyond words. struggling to keep her mask in front of the members from breaking apart, it didn't take long for one of the more observant members to notice the girl's eyes ever so slightly water or chin marginally tremble when courageously telling the members to not mind the unresponsive crowd or the mountains of unpleasant comments. it's almost laughable how jangmi is a hypocrite herself, subconsciously finding herself reading through the netizens' comments late at night, suddenly bursting into silent tears under the shower after taking in the situation her and her group is in, and the lump in urging her voice to crack when looking out into the dark and silent crowd.

it was shortly after lumière concluded their promotions for love in motion. and it was after the introduction of circus girl on the most recent episode of the popular singing show, king of masked singer, when the general public was left in a guessing game of who the singer could possibly be, seeing how she had an admirable idol-like body and youthful voice. from the very first round, the viewers were instantly hooked to her charismatic and unique voice, gradually advancing her to the final round where she had to compete with the reigning champion for the crown. unfortunately (well, fortunately for the painfully curious people), the circus girl barely fell short in votes, in the end having to reveal her identity. to say the viewers and netizens were shocked is an understatement, as the anonymous girl they were all fawning over turned out to be the lead vocalist of one of south korea's currently most disliked girl group: lumière's moon jangmi.

dispatch released these photos around september of 2018, a while before the girls of lumière began preparing for want to play? era while the boys of bts recently came back in august. despite the growing boy group having packed schedules, it was still jungkook's birthday and his company was courteous enough to work their schedules around the date, leaving that one deliberately open for him to genuinely celebrate and rest. jungkook took advantage of the free time to go on a date with jangmi, seeing how she was on a break at the time as well. the two spent the whole afternoon at everland and strolled around hongdae for the evening before they contentedly called it a day. dispatch was aware that it was jungkook and jangmi that they caught out in public, but sm firmly asked for them to leave her identity anonymous seeing how lumière just started receiving love from the public, and this article will completely destroy not only jangmi's but the whole group's chance of ever reappearing to the public's eye.

around a year after jangmi joined sm, rumors were circulating about how there was going to be an addition to the trainees: a young boy from canada. upon hearing that another native english speaker will be joining them soon, jangmi was beyond excited to meet the potentially new member of sm's foreign swaggers. to say thirteen-year-old mark was quite overwhelmed and flustered upon first meeting fifteen-year-old jangmi would be accurate, for the girl's sudden enthusiasm and endless cooing over his baby face definitely caught him off-guard. the two, however, instantly hit it off and became good friends (not to forget mark was welcomed into the foreign swaggers with open arms as well). jangmi will admit mark holds a special place in her heart, for his similarly innocent and enthusiastic nature goes hand-in-hand with hers, often confusing their peers into thinking they're long lost siblings. despite their two-year , mark is probably who jangmi feels the closest to out of the foreign swaggers, viewing him as the baby brother she never had. you would often find the two giggling stupidly over a dumb joke, jangmi freestyling a nonsense rap while mark is beatboxing, or the older girl air-pinching the younger boy's cheeks when he happens to do something cute... like he always does...

fellow ninety-seven liner: jung jaehyun. the two were able to grow closer due to being born in the same year, hence making them classmates at their school: school of performing arts seoul. it took a while for the two to actually begin conversing and getting to know each other because the boy was a handsome one and their fellow peers putting him on an untouchable pedestal for it didn't help jangmi at all. however, it was in their freshman year when they were paired as seatmates, finally allowing them the chance to officially introduce themselves and actually... y'know... talk. it was actually quite amusing how fascinated the two were of each other's "accents" when speaking english. the two share a fairly casual friendship, nothing too chaotic but nothing too dull. simply greeting each other whenever they cross paths, stopping to share about their days and what they've been up to, discussing how they feel lately and spilling any rants if they have any. just your typical pair of harmless friends.

as for johnny seo... jangmi will be honest... when she first entered sm and saw johnny, she will admit she was intimidated. a tall tree like him with an unreadable resting expression is capable of scaring anybody! however, when johnny discovered that the girl was from australia and could speak english, he revealed the brightest smile and introduced himself to jangmi, melting away all of her fear. turns out he was a soft giant. as the two befriended each other and had somebody to converse in english with, jangmi realized how much she can relate to him. having been a trainee for a while now and losing his shot at debuting with exo, jangmi found herself in the likewise situation with red velvet. if mark was the younger brother jangmi never had, johnny would be the older brother jangmi never had. she finds herself at comfort and ease when talking to him from time to time, feeling like she has a reliable shoulder to release things she never knew she was holding in in the first place.
