✎ seol yiseul, born amélie vivienne seol to father seol sungmin
(a south korean theoretical physicist) and mother élodie ahn
(a korean child psychologist born in france), was originally from marseille, france. she grew up there until age seven when the whole family moved to montréal, canada for mr. seol’s work. she was raised alongside her twin brother, seol yoonseok / sebastien seol. her family stayed there until she and her brother were fourteen. during this time she, who was very shy and skeptical of people in this period of time, met and befriended kids her age who would go on to influence her and instill an interest in music and performance. with the encouragement of both her family and friends, she joined clubs and programs that would improve her natural skill in singing and build up a dream to become a full-fledged performer, especially once she started singing competetively.

a move to south korea late in 2007, however, proved challenging for her and had even discouraged her from continuing on with her original plans of pursuing such a career and keeping her interest, abandoning music from feeling alienated and alone. culture shock, an insufficient amount of knowledge of the country she now lives in, and the deep feelings of missing her close friends had weighed her down to become somewhat a recluse until her twin brother encouraged her to come back out of her shell. he helped her regain the confidence she had lost, taught her to understand the new environment that had shaken even him, going through this hard time together and making friends that would provide the same genuine support in and enthusiasm for her dream as her former best friends and her brother had given her.

yoonseok had also been the one to introduce her to k-pop, diverting her dream of becoming a headlining frontwoman to a musical group to instead that of a korean idol. inspired by her tirelessly supportive brother, she auditioned for multiple talent agencies, trying her hand at the big three, but eventually getting accepted by jyp entertainment to train for a few years before getting scouted by woollim entertainment. during her stay as a trainee under woollim, she was approached by a representative of ilim entertainment to give auditioning with them try, with the promise of getting her a position in their newest project. her decision to accept the offer reinvigorated her commitment to becoming a korean pop sensation.

✎  during her stay in canada, she was part of a junior acapella group for three years, and competed both in a group and as an individual in provincial singing competitions ;
✎  can play guitar (with a preference for bass), piano and kalimba;

✎ yiseul's main source of support and motivation, yoonseok has always been there to cheer his sister on, even going so far as saying he's her number one fan. they grew up to be each other's best friend, pushing each other to do their best in whatever they're set on doing. the two of them are almost always together when they're not busy working. he is a youtube videographer famous for doing reviews on current, popular music and online trends in south korea, even branching out to interviewing artists and eventually landing a spot on a radio show to do advice segments.

✎ a trainee under woollim entertainment, and younger brother of a woollim senior, infinite's sungyeol. yiseul met him back when they both started training under the agency in 2012, becoming somewhat like siblings and friendly rivals with one another. their personalities clash, yiseul being more assertive and rebelious while daeyeol is by the book and more passive in comparison, but they consider this more so a compliment to each other and beneficial for them. daeyeol is currently being groomed to become the leader of a currently unnamed boy group project that will be debuting under woollim in 2017.

✎ a young man who, like daeyeol, is a trainee under woollim entertainment. though he is much younger and trained for a shorter period of time, yiseul found herself becoming very fond of him, even treating him like the younger sibling that she had always wanted. their relationship is more of an older sister spoiling and mentoring a younger brother. much like daeyeol, he is being groomed to become the main rapper of woollim's new boy group project set to debut in 2017, which yiseul is envious of.

On Stage Persona 

✎ ferocious presence, often accompanied by an unshakably intense stare; she has a lot of swagger for someone who largely relies on her high notes and her vocal prowess in general. at first glance, she would seem snobbish or mean, but she isn't. she has the aura you would expect from someone with complete control and authority, almost an imposing presence of poise and a high regard for herself. despite being rather intimidating, she also is able to carry a sort of eloquence when she speaks and sings, captivating her audience and catching their attention. she also has a seductiveness to her that is uncommon and almost completely unfamiliar to existing female idols, perhaps more accepable in western pop scene than it is with kpop.
 

Trainee Background 

✎ between late 2007 and early 2008, yiseul had been very persistent in her attempt to be recognized as a valuable talent, auditioning for multiple agencies no matter how many times she had previously been rejected and no matter if they were taking in potential trainees, at the time. her efforts bore fruit when she passed public auditions for jyp entertainment in july of 2008. despite the fact that she was unused to the physical aspect of training demanded by kpop standards, she gave it her all and trained alongside other trainees, some of which would debut in only a few years time. she maintained that her focus was to improve her dancing because she found herself sufficiently trained in vocals, but her training was directed towards improving her vocals, much to her dismay. 

she continued to train under jyp from 2008 until 2012. after hearing out a senior's advice to seek what she wants for her future and what she wants to be doing once she debuts, she participated in woollim's open auditions that year and fortunately got accepted. there, she was able to train dancing more freely, more intensely, and was at the time considered to be one of woollim's

between early 2013 and early 2014, more people were added into the line up to replace the girls who left: seo jisoo, lee mijoo, kim jiyeon, park myungeun, ryu sujeong and jung yein. the girl group project was intially meant to be a mature equivalent to woollim's existing boy group, infinite, but their vision changed as soon as the line up filled up with younger girls.

deeming her unfit for lovelyz' new innocent, fresh and youthful image, she was officially removed from the line up. days after the group's debut, she left woollim to become a free agent, auditioning for other talent agencies.

 

LAST COMMENTS this took me a bit to finish because i was torn as to what to do with her training background and her faceclaim since i was looking for someone born within that time frame ;u; but i do hope you like how yiseul turned out~ initially i wanted yoonseok to be a fellow trainee but i felt that wouldn't contribute much to any story;; also i feel like i should have elaborated or taken away some details in certain areas, which i will do if you deem it suitable. and also- good luck on the story, and i hope more applicants come in~
