daeyong was born with a dark brown hair and he never tried dying it. he's too lazy to do so – he often cut his hair when he felt that it's starting to get too long though. well, honestly speaking – daeyong is born wit perfect skin though. he never really needed expensive skincare products and laser treatments. he also had never went under the knife too. this boy was pretty much gifted with his visuals – he never really had to take care of himself intensively. well, sure, he had his days during his teenage days where his biggest concern is his acne; but now, he didn't really face any skin problems, which he is grateful of. he was born tall — slightly on the lanky side but well, he is trying to gain some muscles. he does have a slight insecurity — he never really think of himself as good-looking. not being humble; but he didn't find himself that good-looking. he just feels so-so; but well, when you're in sm, the land of pretty faces, what are you expecting?

daeyong is very playful — the clown of the group, he's always up to pranking his fellow members. it's funny to see them mad at times – but of course, daeyong knew when to stop. he is also very adorable. he's the type to successfully charm people with his aegyo — despite the fact that he's a tall pole. he also has a bright smile that charms people and lit up the whole room. it looks so innocent and cute. daeyong can also be seen touching people a lot — he's very expressive and he loves skinships. intertwining hands together, kissing, back hugs, he likes to show his affectionate side — but it can also be deadly behind closed doors though as he isn't scared to show that he's tired or he's angry. daeyong can also be seens as opportunistic. he knows that opportunities don't knock his door twice — so, he makes the best of everything. well – quite business-minded, eh? daeyong is also a huge ert. he likes his stash of rated-r movies and games; and he is not scared to smack his bandmates' butts. heck, he even sometimes smack their crotches.

however — you might find daeyong a little bit self-centered and hypocritical. he's very spoiled — he wants attention. if he's talking, hear him. if he wants something, give it to him. he threw tantrums a lot and gets grumpy when he's not in his best mood (he's good at faking it in front of the superiors and fans though). sometimes, he might feel like the world revolves around him. daeyong might try to avoid arguments at his best but if he's involved in one, he will always win. always. he can also get quite impatient — well, he can wait, don't get me wrong. he's not a kid — but he has a low tolerance of rudeness and liars. trust me – he might seem cuddly and innocent when he's nice but when he's mad, he wouldn't mind to kick an or two. daeyong can also be manipulative. words is his charm and he knows how his adorableness works well. therefore, daeyong often uses his words and his aegyo to get things his way. he often guilt trips people and would persuade you into doing things his way. daeyong is very sensitive – little comments offend him and make him go to defense mode. instead of crying, daeyong become... angry; well, angry to the point, he'll cry. he's a huge crybaby but tends to hide his crying habits all to himself. well, of course, it doesn't work. he tried but this boy really wears his heart on his sleeve. he tries to go with the "i'm a man, i don't cry!" but fails horribly. he's also quite nonchalant. sure, he might be flexible, grabbing opportunities when it comes to him - but he tryly doesn't have a plan in life despite being an idol. he doesn't know what to do with his salary, he doesn't know what he will do if he fails of being an idol – he might be wise, but he's also indecisive, to the point where he doesn't have a plan b. if there's one thing about daeyong that deters him from being better is how easily he loses interest on something. it's a miracle that he still likes music because this boy loses focus easily. you might see him being obsessed in a video game this week. by next week, he'll get over that video game without even finishing it solely because "he's bored with it".   

BACKGROUND 

daeyong was born by cafe owners, jang doyoon and lee mina. as a kid — daeyong had always received a lot of love. he had a rather normal childhood where both of his parents showered him with affection and attention. nothing less - it honestly molded him into someone very childish and dependent on love and attention. he'll sulk and throw a tantrum when he's not given what he wants – that was when until mina gave birth to a younger brother. this boy is rather something that he'd never wanted — he openly stated how much he dislikes this little boy and after his birth, everything went downhill for daeyong. 

daeyong's little brother, daehyun was born when daeyong was ten. it was okay at first — daeyong could get used to sharing his parents with his little brother. however, it slowly became a curse for daeyong — his parents seem to expect him to be more matured and be a good older brother. they didn't congratulate him for getting first place, nor did they take him out for dinner when his school's soccer team (which he was their captain) won the regionals. they simply just prefer cooing over little daehyun. 

it really made daeyong mad — daeyong searched for a way to mke his parents proud of him and actually, shower him with the attention he deserved. that was then, when he tried playing the piano. at the age of thirteen, daeyong mastered the art of playing the piano. at the age of fifteen, he can play the guitar and ukulele. his parents' reactions were lukewarm — but he didn't mind. he genuinely likes being one with music. at the age of seventeen, he decided to give it a shot and went to an audition — and he passed! he became a trainee on september 2009 and that, made his parents proud - which even mde him felt better about making it this far.

♡ choi jinri (sulli) – f(x) – bestfriends — sulli and daeyong met when f(c) came to congratulate exo on their debut. afterwards, they started meeting up more and daeyong became closer to sulli. well; after all, sulli is his ideal type. they both are extroverted and likes joking with each other. 

♡ baekhyun – exo – partners-in-crime — he likes to joke with baekhyun a lot. baekhyun's loud personality makes it easier for daeyong to connect with him and socialize with him. he even asks baekhyun to perform some weird pranks. he also genuinely takes care of baekhyun and he sees baekhyun as a child despite the fact that he's a child too.

TRAINEE LIFE 

daeyong, honestly, auditioned as a vocalist – he was accepted into sm, in his opinion, wasn't solely based on his talents but rather, due to his looks and charm as well. it didn't break the high-spirited boy though - instead of feeling rather down about it, he's very enthusiastic on the fact that he's accepted - on his first try at that. not a lot of people succeed in their first try. therefore, it is nice to have the privilege to be there at his first shot. 

his trainee years was rather a so-so. it was fun! he's very sociable. therefore, getting new friends are not a hard task for daeyong. he did face harsh criticisms by the instructors and trainees - as his deep voice isn't suited for singing. at first, he was reluctant on rapping. they kept on pushing him to rap - when he wanted to sing! however, as he practised more on rapping, he finds it thrilling to rap. given the fact that his deep voice makes his voice distinguishable as a rapper in any given song, he decided to focus more on rapping. 

he was rather shocked to be shortlisted into being one of the hopeful trainees that have a shot to become a member of exo - he was so thrilled to be apart of the journey. it made him try harder — he improved his singing as well as his rapping. he sharpened his dance skills. when he was announced as exo's main rapper, he felt something he never felt before - accomplished. the feeling is worth the tiring, sleepless night and the constant emotional whirlwind.
