I Joined a Club!!

I joined a club!!

It's called Hansori. It's a Traditional Korean drumming club.

I've been interested in joining this club since my freshman year. I'm a sophomore now. I went to a few of their performances last semester. I thought it was really cool.

So this semester, I decided to join.

It's only been 2 weeks, but I like it so far. I play this drum called Janggu. This isn't a picture of mine, but this is what it looks like.

The drumming is pretty difficult to do. Some of the rhythms are pretty hard to do, but the other members in my section are saying I'm learning quickly.  I know how to play almost a whole song. I also like the people in the club. They seem really cool and supportive. We had a welcome party this weekend at the president's apartment. I like how he tried to talk to me and get to know me. And the people seem so nice.

Side note: I don't know if this is generalizing but it seems like Koreans can really handle their liquor. Is this true? Because I feel like I was starting to feel buzzed after a couple of drinks and the Koreans/Asians in the club were still drinking up and not even drunk. Maybe I'm just a lightweight.

Anyway, everyone there is into Kpop or Korean culture. I feel like I can talk about it with them and not be the weird one like I always am. It's totally ok to listen to Kpop. We were actually listening and dancing to Kpop at the welcome party. It's relieving to be around people who are into Korean culture after nearly 5 years of having literally no one to relate to.

I'm mostly interested in doing something fun because I'm usually not doing much aside from studying and watching Netflix. I'm a new member so I have a lot to learn, but I'm ready to see where this will take me.
