— DoKyun is the oldest child born to Min DoRyung and Choi JinAh. He was born while JinAh was attending a convention in the US, causing his birth to be a little bit of a stir. However, because both his parents were Korean nationals, and he was born on a holdiday, he was granted Korean nationality rather than dual nationality. As soon as he was able to be taken on a flight, his mother and he returned home to Seoul, where his father awaited their arrival. A few years later, his younger brother was born. Then his sister followed after that. His father was the most constant presence in his life even as a young child, as his mother worked long hours to expand her reach within the real estate business. They were never really wanting for much, but they lost their mother in the process. It was clear pretty early that the music bug had a hold of DoKyun, and that he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box. He excelled at anything creative, and he fell behind in anything analytical. He barely scraped by in school, and by high school, was seriously debating dropping out all together. The only reason he stayed in school was because he managed to get into an Arts High School. Within months he had decided music was what he wanted to pusure, and not in the same way his father did. He wanted to be an idol. He wanted the fame and he knew he had the looks for it. By sixteen he was applying and auditioning at every opening that he could- and it still took two years before he was finally accepted by Song Media. His mother is supportive, but that doesn't mean much, since she's even more busy these days. His father, on the other hand, doesn't like the idea of his son being an idol. He's scared of what netizens will say about DoKyun, and the affect it could have on his son.

Trainee life

— DoKyun began training a few months prior to his graduation, after having been turned down by several larger companies, before slipping into Song Media's ranks. Frankly, he was just happy to have ended up somewhere. He worked hard on his singing and rapping, though his most obvious talent was his dancing. It took a few years of watching new trainees come and old trainees go, before there was talk of a boy group. The talk only made DoKyun work harder, determined to garner his goal of becoming an idol. When the lineup for Jump In came out, he was estatic to be on it. That didn't mean he stopped working hard, in fact he worked harder, trying to perfect their debut. The day finally came for debut, but it wasn't what he had expected. Within three months, they were shelved, and members started leaving. DoKyun was at a loss of what to do. Right as he was deciding he might leave Song Media, they came out with the statement. DoKyun was angry, honestly, but he wasn't going to let Song Media take away his dream- even if he had to deal with now being in a co-ed group.
