I have no clue why I’m writing this, I just am. Just putting it out there, this is pointless.

Hello there. My name is Grackie. Well, I should say, my pen name is Grackie, pronounced (Grack-ee)  but many of you intelligent people prob figured out that my name is Gracie. And some of you also may know that I’m korean. My name is Gracie Lee, and my korean name is Lee Aram (이아람). I’m fluent in English because, well, I grew up in America. Actually I have three citizenships. Korean, American, and Canadian. I am full korean, and I can speak, understand, kinda write, but I really, really can’t read. It’s just the hardest thing for me. 

Now, for me, liking Kpop and being korean is great. Not only can I understand what they’re saying and only occasionally need subtitles (I can survive without them, but I do like having them) but I avoid being called my least favorite word on this entire planet; a koreaboo. Why do people automatically assume that non-korean people who like Kpop are koreaboos? I just don’t understand! 

My aunt, once told me that my cousin (let’s call her abby) said I liked Kpop. This was how our convo went:

Aunt: I heard from Abby that you like Kpop. Which group?

Me: EXO! But also other groups ^^

Aunt: Who in EXO?

Me: Baekhyun

Aunt: How old is he?

Me: 26 in Korean years, so 25

Aunt: Do you like him because he sings well, or because he’s cute

Me: Both

Aunt: How tall is he?

Me: Around 5” 9’

Aunt: Ok, I’ll look him up later.

I felt like she was grilling me about my boyfriend or something! I mean I’m not complaining! In fact, this kid also believed Baekhyun was my boyfriend when I was looking at his insta. He asked “Who’s that?” So I jokingly said, “My boyfriend.” And the child was stupid enough to believe that someone like me could be dating someone like...BAEKHYUN. 

ANYWAY

I play the cello. I’ve been playing since the wee age of four, and I do really enjoy it.
