APPEARANCE

Amity is large for an Asian girl. She is both wider than most and taller than most, which she takes as a sign of strength rather than one of something being wrong with her. (This points to suspicions that she might be part White.) Also, her eyes have central heterochromia - on the outside of the pupil they are brown, but on the inside they are green. Her hair is a light brown and goes down almost to her waist. She has several piercings in each ear.

Her casual is nice skirts, skinny jeans paired with a nice top, or fashionable dresses. She doesn’t really dress down unless it’s cold or she’s sick, as she just feels more confident in more formal attire.

PERSONALITY

Amity is as complicated as her background. She tries to keep to herself most of the time, as it’s just easier, but she often finds herself in the middle of problems whether she likes it or not. She is pretty literate, as she had a good educational background and enjoys reading.

 

BACKGROUND

She had always been smart for her age, but not always in a good way. She was raised in a wealthy family in China, with a Chinese father and a South Korean mother. While she excelled in school and took college classes before even graduating high school, she often snuck out of the house and went out drinking or driving sports cars with other wealthy teens.

Right after she graduated high school and was effectively in her second year at university, she and a boy became close in a semi-romantic way. One night, the two of them went to a street race with a bunch of other wealthy kids. The boy drank a lot before deciding to enter into a race. Amity advised him not to, but he did it anyway. During the race, the boy’s car crashed into another car and the boy was killed and the driver of the other car fell into a coma.

After that happened, Amity refused to stay in China. She took the credits she had earned in college and transferred to École Normale Superieure in Paris, where she studied until she graduated with degrees in Anthropology and Psychology. While she was in Paris, she tried to forget her upbringing and past. She took her Western name as a legal name, she dyed her hair lighter, and wore green eye contacts. During this time she had a long, stable relationship with a girl from Paris, but the two broke off on good terms when Amity decided to move to Korea to pursue a Master’s degree, but ended up joining Black Velvet.

TRAINEE LIFE During this time, she kept mostly to herself and her books. She did have a few close relationships, the one that started the pregnancy rumor was when she and a boy from France that could only speak French became close. She lived in her own apartment during her trainee years, as the managers decided she was old and responsible enough, and other trainees saw him spending a lot of time in her apartment.

"Y'know," Amity said, picking up the computer so she could lean back onto the bed and put her feet up. "Despite how much you're talking, I still don't get why you had to off to Russia to write poetry or whatever." 

The boy on the screen whistled, his face pinched into a smile. "Damn, Anna," he said with a tsk, you're in a group now, you shouldn't speak like that." 

"And here I thought you were gonna say 'you kiss your mother with that mouth?' And in response, I would say, 'no, no I don't.'" She brought her fingers to the screen and tapped her lilac-painted nails against the touchscreen. "Besides, poetry? We both know I'm the intellectual here." 

He tilted his head in a way that resembled a puppy. "Since when do you write poetry?' 

"Since never. But I do have a bunch of A-worthy college essays with my name on them." 

"You know I went to university, too, right?"

Amity laughed. 

 "But, you know," he continued. "Maybe you should try it. We can write a poem together." 

She hummed, further burying herself in her mattress. "No," she stated. 

"Why not?" 

Amity smiled. "I'd rather write a book." 

"What kind of book?" 

She thought for a moment. "A mystery novel. Based in China." 

He seemed to ponder the idea for a moment, then shrugged. "Sure. I'd read it, of course." He glanced down at the bottom of his screen, presumably at the clock in the lower corner. "I gotta go, Anna. It was good talking to you." 

She smiled at waved at the camera. "Bye. And remember, if I see you change your relationship status to 'married' and are suddenly hanging out with a hot Russian woman, I'll know that you didn't actually go to Russia to write poetry." 

He choked."Wait, I-" 

Amity ended the video call. 

 

COMMENTS/QUESTIONS Sorry about this messy application and for it not being pretty… that ‘source code’ stuff looked like a foreign language.

 

SCENE REQUESTS The group gets caught up in a bad situation, and all the other girls are quiet and don’t know what to do when Amity steps forward and takes charge, ordering people to do certain things and solves the problem, before just walking out while everyone’s staring at her and trying to thank her.

The Velvet is too stressed out and they begin fighting. Someone suggests that they try boxing training to get rid of their stress - and it works!

The Velvet all play a sport together late one night.

Someone in the group gets sick and they all fight about what to do

The group is walking around late one night and they are cornered by a group of men - good thing the girls know martial arts!
