my stray cat vs my parents

it's been a while since i've been in aff and i have a lot of unfinished work but this one i really just have to say.

i couldn't post on my sns accounts 'cause obviously my family will see. AND if you know me on a personal basis, (shoutout to ellywuzhang in case you be readin' this) keep this here will ya?

Okay so here's the story.

I just really can't understand how my parents can be so judgemental of my stray cat that i took care for a year now and be so whipped of the 3-month old puppy my mom took (not to mention the father of that pup bit me once).

Well, i used to hate cats.. like really. But when i saw this little kitten —too little that he fits exactly in my slipper— during the cold season brought by my nephew, i really just had to take care of him. Of course, my parents were against it. Since i'm allergic to fur and i have asthma.

My brother and cousin still took him and we made him a make-shift home outside the house; fed him; gave him toys; showered him; played with him. My two younger sisters loved playing with him too.

I mean, i never really put the burden on my parents when it comes to taking care of him but sometimes my mom buys him cat food and even introduced me to some affordable ones.

Came the little puppy and every attention was on her. Don't get me wrong, i like her too and play with her but i never forget about my cat.

Then for the past few weeks all i could hear from my parents were negative comments about my cat. Just tonight my mom said, "well, he's a stray cat. he looks for the smell of garbage." i was almost crying while feeding him —these days he doesnt have an appetite.

Back then, he sleeps at the foot of my bed but now after he eats dinner, my dad makes sure he goes out of the house at night. I'm getting worried because i find him in the morning sleeping on shoe racks or the roof. Sometimes, i can't even find him.

It hurts when they call out my cat for some things he can't control but find the puppy cute when she makes a mess.

I don't want to compare because this is really nonsense but i never even trained my cat and he knows how to keep himself and his stuff clean.

Today, my brother found a burn bruise on his leg, one of his toes have one too and my dad just shrugged it off and said that's because he trespasses the neighbourhood. The puppy likes to jump and when she slips they panic like she's dying or something.

Lastly, i don't mean anything harsh against dogs and dog lovers because i love them too. i grew up with my uncle's dogs. It's just really unfair of my parents to "throw" my cat away when the puppy came.

My cat never fought with the puppy. Except when my sister rubbed the pup's face on his, he just hissed and raised his paw but didn't scratch her. Still, my parents were angry.

I wish my cat would find his appetite back and be lively again. I can feel that he's getting insecure and jealous.

P.S. no one is prolly reading this but i'm a bit glad i got it off my system instead of holding it inside.

Have you tried to talk to your parents about how you feel and how the cat might feel ? I hope that your parents would be fair and considerate since all living beings have feelings too.
