appearance — Aiko is roughly 170cm tall and weighs in at about 55kg. She has chocolate brown eyes and a defined nose along with lips in the shape of a cupid's bow. She got an earlobe piercing on her right ear when she was in college, though she doesn't pay much attention to it now and usually keeps a stud there just for the sake of it. She has a scar across her knee from when she was hurt in elementary school due to bullying. She has a tattoo inked at her left shoulder blade when she first came to Korea and joined the Red Lily Secret Society. It being a small sakura signifies her hometown, Kyoto. She's also short-sighted so she switches from glasses to contact lenses depending on the occasion.

fashion style — Having never been very interested in fashion, Aiko is the type to wear anything that's clean and comfortable. As she rarely goes outside, she tends to wear oversized sweaters and shorts at home along with funny-looking wooly socks. As long as it's comfortable enough, she likes it.
When she has to go outside, though, she just mix and matches anything from her wardrobe (which consists of a flurry of colours and usually on the feminine side), as long as they don't restrain her movements. She is sensitive to the cold and so she has a huge collection of jackets, coats, sweaters and leggings. She also doesn't like showing skin, perhaps because of her upbringing, and so she covers up most of the time and only dresses otherwise if needed for Red Lily duties.

every person is the same at the beginning

plotline — The Shadow.

traits —
` Positive: Sharp/observant, reliable/loyal, quick-witted, good with words.
` Negative: Dreamy, forgetful, stubborn, hot-tempered.

personality —

As for her good traits, Aiko has been a very observant person since young, and maybe that's what inspired her in studying Psychology. She can pick up hints and signals very quickly and can analyse any situation with ease, one of the reasons being she enjoys reading crime novels. She loves learning new things and is always out to find out more. She is also the person the Red Lilies are most likely to go up to if they are facing any problems. She's a good listener and is also great at providing comfort since she's good with words. Besides, Aiko is also loyal to the few loved ones she have. Aside from her family in Japan, the only friends she has are the members of the Red Lily Secret Society. Needless to say, she cares for them deeply and is protective of them. It'd be a push to label her as the 'happy pill' of the group, but she does sense the low mood and atmosphere often and tries to lighten up the mood with her random jokes. Aiko probably doesn't know it herself, but she's naturally adorable - she tends to crack jokes and flirts with others unknowingly without meaning too much.

On the other hand, Aiko's observing skills can be too much sometimes and she zones out of conversations midway because she's too focused in analysing something or someone. There's a reason why she has her electrical gadgets with her all the time, and that's because she's forgetful. She's got to jot down everything in her notes or else the said task is probably going down the drain. 'Out of sight, out of mind' applies to her accurately in this situation. Also, Aiko is very hard-headed. Due to her background, she isn't keen on letting people persuade her and she often thinks that she's right. The only person who can effectively change her mind is probably only Nami herself since she plays a big role in her life. Other than that, Aiko also gets upset quickly. They all know not to approach her when there's a constant scowl on her face along with her knitted eyebrows and pursed lips. She gets annoyed easily especially when it comes to failures, incompetency of others and herself, and the heat. Maybe that's why her least favourite season is summer.

All in all, Aiko doesn't go out or make friends alone, because she finds other people hard to trust. When she trusts someone, she gives her entire heart and soul to them, believing that they wouldn't break her even more than she is broken now. However, she can charm others when she wants to, thanks to her way with words. She's fun to be with and can be random at times. She doesn't like being in the spotlight and she isn't very athletic either. She plays a big role in the Red Lily Secret Society, but only behind the curtains.

background —
Aiko was born to a Japanese father and a Korean mother in the heart of Kyoto, Japan. She'd been a victim of bully ever since she registered for elementary school. At the age of 12, she would return home with bruises on her arms and stomach, along with busted lips and small cuts. Her mother would then comfort her and stop her tears by telling her the bruises were like blue cherry blossoms, they'd bloom and fade away soon enough. Aiko was always left out due to her prominent features of a Japanese-Korean and even when she does make friends, they approach her out of feigned kind interest, only to gossip about her behind her back. It was then when she decided to stop making friends and getting help, because nothing works. Even when her parents took action, the bullying never stopped as they merely changed their ways of hurting her from direct punches to indirect pranks. This continued up till middle school when a Korean transfer student arrived; his name was Jung Hoseok. Hoseok was a friendly child, and for the first time in middle school, someone wanted to make friends with Aiko. However, at that point of life, Aiko's intentions of loving and trusting others had dissipated.

Soon enough, Hoseok started being made fun of for being Korean, the bullies going on about how the Japanese were more superior than Koreans and that he didn't deserve to be there. Bruises started forming on Hoseok's body parts, the exact same bruises Aiko got when she was in his place. When this started, Aiko was slowly being forgotten. It was wrong, but she felt relieved. She was happy to know that there was a replacement for her and she was freed. However, whenever she watched Hoseok being beat up behind the school building, she never stopped wondering why she walked home crying.

Aiko's father was a salesman, a foolish one at that. He was gullible and spent all his savings in investments that were never meant to work. When he lost all the money, he had to stock up by owing the yakuzas money. To make things worse, Aiko's mother suffered from a heart attack and was now bed-ridden. Her brother barely got into middle school with the fees.

The first time Nami and Aiko met was when she was 16 years old. At that time, her family circumstances willed her to rob for money, and she did it at the mart in her neighbourhood. It was foolish of her, but she didn't know better. Nami had watched her in action and when she found out she was caught, Aiko begged for forgiveness. What surprised her was that Nami did let her go, telling her not to mention this to anyone.

When she got into college and majored in Psychology through a scholarship, Aiko thought that her future would be bright and she could help with her family income. However, she was wrong. She graduated without a posting for the next few months, and she had to persuade her professor to accept her as his assistant. With that, she got a little pay to feed her family with monthly. When she realised the money wasn't enough, she worked on conning patients, lying to them about the total payment and tweaking the accounts and records to ensure everything tallied up. Her salary increased from that and her family was able to get by.

A few months into her illegal activity, she met Hoseok again. He visited her professor for psychiatry treatments for his trauma, no doubt from his previous bully cases. When they met again, Aiko felt a biting guilt at her heart but she couldn't help it, she swindled Hoseok's money away as well.

Aiko met Nami for the second time when she was at work, busy helping her professor. Nami knew what she'd been doing and Aiko was afraid, to say the least, but what Nami did surprised Aiko yet again. She promised her family a better life, more comfortable and peaceful, but with one condition; to join her in the Red Lily Secret Society.

Now, Aiko's family was indeed living a better life. She was actively working under the Red Lilies and everything in her life has changed drastically since the recruitment. She'd reassured her family on her career in South Korea and left her family behind in Japan, understanding the risks of her job and not wanting to drag her family members in if ever, anything becomes messy. She delivers money back to them monthly and her life has never been happier, except one last thing that's constantly haunting her memories; Jung Hoseok.

likes — Rainy days, tea, chocolate flavoured food and drinks, flowers, books, listening to music (r&b being her favourite genre.)

dislikes — Hot and humid days, doing strenuous activities, coffee, disrespectful people.

hobbies — Swimming, cooking, reading, listening to music, people-watching.

habits — Cussing and apologizing in Japanese when she's flustered, fidgeting with her fingernails when she's anxious, staring at someone for too long as she zones out.

trivias —

` She collects bookmarks of all sorts and even makes some on her own sometimes.
` She can't cycle, and nor can she drive.
` She is allergic to certain seafood (prawns and crabs of the sort.)
` She dislikes going to packed places like the bustling night market or clubs alone.
` She has a low alcohol tolerance and the most she can take is three bottles of soju or five cans of beer.
` She tends to start mumbling incoherently when she's analysing someone too closely.

where starting line begins

family —

— Lee Jungah | Mother | She is loving yet strict with her children. She is now bed-ridden and requires extra care, usually her husband giving her assistance.
— Yoshihiro Yuzuhara | Father | He is gullible yet caring, and he loves his family deeply. He is still a little worried for Aiko ever since she left for South Korea.

— Asao Yuzuhara | Younger brother | He is currenly a high school student and isn't doing very well in his studies. He's more sociable and athletic compared to Aiko.

where the loyalty lies

friends —

— Red Lily Secret Society | Close friends | Aiko treats them like family members as she doesn't have any other friends but them. There are time when they get into arguments and fights but it's only natural for a group as close as them.love is a powerful thing, it'll either strengthen or weaken you

love interest — Officer Jung Hoseok.

backup love interest — The author's choice.

personality — Hoseok is broken, to say the least. Ever since his episodes in Japan, he isn't the bright child he used to be anymore. Now back in South Korea again, he hoped for a fresh start, but it isn't as easy. He's constantly self-conscious, afraid of being left out or gossiped about by others. To fend those worries away, he built a wall around him with his aloof expressions. He isn't rude, but he isn't friendly either. When others approach him, he's polite and starts a conversation with them, but nobody goes beyong the friendzone when it comes to him.

relationship — Back in Japan, both Aiko and Hoseok had similar childhoods; they were happy and cheery, but the bully cases scarred them both. Now, Hoseok is determined to shun Aiko out of his life and bring her down for the things she's done to him. However, Aiko is just as determined to try and let Hoseok understand where she's coming from. They never knew or understood each other beyond their names, and Aiko thinks it's time to do so, but Hoseok isn't letting the hatred dissipate so easily.
When they happened to be paired together, Aiko takes it as an oppurtunity to understand Hoseok better. They're both broken and they both require healing, but nobody understands them as well as they do with each other. Aiko is strong-willed to bring light to the other side of Hoseok, the side of Hoseok that she saw when they met on the first day of school. In the mean time, Hoseok needs to let go and be forgiving as Aiko needs to be fixed as well.

end of the line

She's wonderful!
Your full review will be up in a few days~
Thank you again, and i'm glad that you liked the storyline; it was honestly troubling since i don't see much of this kind of genre here~
