jeonghwa was born and raised in the island city of jeju island, south korea. he comes from a 'hospitality' family, and had all intentions of staying in the famiily business per se. however, on a weekend trip to seoul resulted in him (and his brother though, only he was truly interested) of being scouted to become an actor. as he had not made up his mind on what to do with his future beyond maybe becoming a chef, he decided to give acting a shot. with minor (like very minor) acting successes (mostly theater and commercials) he was able to complete his education at the same time.
he is the type of person that cannot lie so makes it a habit of always being honest and being on the up-and-up. the only major change with "on-camera" vs "off-camera" is his personality is just amplified on-camera (if the part is called for, that is.) otherwise, he is the same on and off.
Appearance —
jeonghwa is very casual in his looks. his preferences lean towards casual-casual dressy. but cleans up really well. he doesn't stick to a style; but (on free days especially) he wears whatever he feels like he wants to. however, his preference can be jeans and buttion-downs or corduroy pants and sweaters. he does notice that he tends to stay muted in his choices, color-wise.

many people base their judgments of jeonghwa based on their first initial meeting of him, and unfortunately (or fortunately for jeonghwa) don't take the time to get to know him. many take one trait and assume that is all that jeonghwa is, but in reality, he's a little of everything.
he's very cheerful and friendly; always has a smile on his face. he is the go-get-it type so is energetic and ready to take on each new day with a happy mindframe. he grew up in a family who focused a lot on happiness and honesty. to be happy, it was important to be honest. to be honest, happiness should be a big key point. then with all of that, staying humble rounds it all out. points his parents pushed and reminded jeonghwa and jeongwook about.
even being happy and humble (humble and conservative/private go hand in hand) it was always important to remember to all of that. but even as private, conservative, solitary (he really centered on jeongwook and dongwoo's friendships and later ha nuel) he really acted out his "boyish" and "childishness" side.
