Fave KPOP Albums #kpopdiscourse (Taken from -heibai)

WARNING: THIS BLOGPOST IS LONG AF

Firstly, hi guys~ It's been a while since I've been here. I've been busy with preparing for my exams and such. I'm going through my AS A Level exams now. Had to retake my AS coz my previous grades big time. I apologise to the people who I suddenly dropped tasks so suddenly. Had a mental breakdown and such.

I was supposed to post this first but due to some complications, I had to post this later.

Btw, I'm selling my albums here Do spread to your Malaysian friends ^^

ANYWAY

The reason I'm making this blogspot was because I saw my friend, Zoe, make a blogpost about her fave KPOP albums and listed down her Top 5, so I figured I'd do that too ahhahah. Before we move on, just take note that I at ranking fave things because it's hard TvT

This list of top kpop albums will be divided into two, 1) Top 10 kpop albums of all time, 2) Top 10 RECENT (2016-2017, Jan-Mar) kpop albums, due to the influx in releases recently (And because I wanna promote my fave albums duh ahhahhha). Recent albums will not be mentioned in the all time since ALL TIME faves need more time to see if they can still stay as my faves (Unless I decide to hahahahah). The albums will be ranked based on how much I listened to them on repeat and also quality of the songs. I will be putting a few honorable mentions after the list if I have a hard time to pick or what not. I'll be putting my top pick song from the album too and prolly the whole album if it's just a masterpiece TvT So let's move to the RECENT first!

TOP 10 2016 (JAN-DEC) - 2017 (JAN-MAR) KPOP ALBUMS

10) LIMITLESS - NCT127 (JAN 2017)

When NCT127 debuted with Firetruck, I wasn't that wowed by their title track. But a few months after, they released Limitless and this blew my mind. Not only did Johnny finally escaped the SM dungeon, but the song was also amazing. The styling of this era wasn't my taste (heck, NCT's stylings are so bad T^T Stylist wyd). But the album itself was just fantastic. The vocal fry during Taeyong's part, Johnny's centre part during the dance, Jaehyun and Ten's fighting moves at the end. AMAZING. The whole album is a rollercoaster, and a good rollercoaster. A huge contribution on this album being in this list is however this masterpiece of a song called BACK 2 U (AM 01:27)

It was a perfect mixture of vocals and rap and the smooth slow vibe. You know those types of songs which you just feel it to your core? This is one of it for me. I really wished they'd perform this as a b-side instead of Good Thing tbh XD

9) My Voice - Taeyeon (FEB 2017)

Out of the SNSD members' solos, Taeyeon's style has been my favourite since I. I don't know if it's because of the style of song or just purely her voice that completes it. At first, when she released I Got Love, I was really skeptical on what genre she's trying to pursue now. I liked the song, but the instrumental break with the saxophones kind of broke the flow of the song (It was okay but if they added something else to accompany the saxophones, it would sound better). Anyway, Taeyeon released Fine and I was like YAS, this was what I wanted. The emotions, the melody, the vocals, perfection. The whole album itself sounded fantastic. The mood of the album was just amazing because you have slow songs like When I Was Younger, mystical songs like Time Lapse, poppy happy songs like Cover Up and the epic title track. The song that one me however was Fire.

I mean, the song itself sounds very uplifting and I can just imagine an MV somehow like SHINee's Fire. The beat and guitars mixed very well together. And that short part of only Taeyeon's voice with no inst, GOOSEBUMPS

8) Seoulite - LEEHI (MAR 2016)

If you guys know me, I'm usually not a huge fan of YG artists/albums but this album caught my attention nonetheless. I was just casually scrollin through youtube for new albums to listen, and I stumbled upon this work of art. So basically, we start with WORLD TOUR which was produced by my baby, DEAN and, man, my wig was already snatched. The beat just makes you wanna bop your head and then BAM, you're hit with LeeHi's soulful voice TvT (With DEAN's bootiful background voices <3) My fave track from this album would be OFFICIAL! (Wanted to put Fxxk Wit Us tbh too hahaha)

THAT OHH BABY AT THE STARTING /flips tables/ And every time 'I wanna be official' comes up in the song, I can't help but sing along <33

7) Pink Revolution - APINK (SEPT 2016)

I was surprised when I saw APINK changing their concept a bit to a more official one but it was just still amazing. This is actually the first APINK album that I listened to fully and I have no regrets. Boom Boom Pow was a really nice upbeat song with hella amazing high notes and not to mention Eunji's whistle notes. Drummer Boy was a perfect fit in the album! I was actually contemplating to either put this or Dear in (because that also has solid tracks) but because The Wave was in this album, Pink Revolution won! ^^

This song was the song that actually made me follow APINK because of how this song hit my feels. It was one of the few songs that I cried to even though I don't follow the group that much. The high notes just keep hitting the goosebumps button in my brain. The 'halsuisseo' parts were just T^T It just so happens that I was kind of going through a tough time when it was released and it just hits the heart, you know? It reminds myself that if I look around, there are people out there who support me, and that just... hits... *cries* Let me take a moment first. This song just hits too many feels at a time.

6) I Am Sam - Sam Kim (APR 2016)

I thought I told myself no more, but Sam Kim came and just *fireworks sounds*. He debuted with No Sense and completely knocked all the senses out of me with his voice. The Crush featuring did wonders to the song like can you imagine, CRUSH WAS RAPPING??!! Such beauty! The jazzy feel of the album is amazing. I was never a fan of jazz, but wow this was amazing. The song that is my pick from the album didn't have much melody though, but emotions filled me when I read the lyrics

I may not be the person he intended this song to, but damn did I get really touched. The lyrics are just T^T The jazzy, soulful voice + guitar = perfection.

5) Bobby Doll - Song Ji Eun (SEPT 2016)

A.K.A one of the most underrated, underappreciated solo comebacks of 2016. The dark concepts really fit SJE like a lock and key. The fans were a nice touch to the title track performance. The mini album had this nice calming/smooth transition and such. The songs sound different from each other but each had its own individuality. I'm Fine had a very light tone to it, Bobby Doll had a creepy/upbeat vibe, and my favourite track 'Oasis' had this body grooving flow hahhahh

No words can express my love for this song omg. O-A-SIS like DAMN TvT

4) Red Planet - Bobbalgan4 (AUG 2016)

If you want music to study to, this is the album to go to. It has such a nice vibe and just calming, not too boring and not too hype. I didn't know they actually debuted but they were charting like crazy, so I decided to check them out. And it's perfect ^^ This is a full studio album, so there are loads of songs and all of them are really good. Just to make this blogpost short, I'll just put my fave song from the album.

This is my favourite of them album! I was hoping they made this the main track to perform instead of Galaxy because it's so good!

3) Interview - Eric Nam (MAR 2016)

Eric Nam is one of the few male solo artists that I actually follow and he didn't disappoint when he released this album (a.k.a my most favourite album of Eric Nam yet). The album starts with Interview and it's such a soft song and it actually felt like an interview. Then it moves on to Good For You and the feel of this song, man....The constant finger snapping, the acoustic guitar, the beat, the piano perfect. Stop The Rain is by far my most favourite Eric Nam ever. I'll talk about it after the video link. Continuing the sad feel of the song, is No Comment. (minus Good For You (International ver)), This song felt like a very good ending to the album. The album itself felt like a sad story; The Interview where he gets to know the girl and falls in love with her, Good For You where he says he'll treat her in the best way he can, Stop The Rain where he wants to try his best not hurting her or cause her more pain because of their fight, saying they can get through this together and ending with No Comment where he holds his last interview on the girl again, but this time asking her when exactly did her heart stop loving him and telling her to be honest, with her ending the interview with no comment T^T Just a masterpiece of an album I tell you.

This song starts very slow and soft, with Eric's voice going through the verse. The falsettos during the sub chorus was where it starts to hit the feels. Then it builds up with a bass and drums and them BAM 'BABY WE CAN STOP THE RAIN' T^T My heart kennot take this. The bridge is where it's at. PERFECTION

2) HI! PRISTIN - PRISTIN (MAR 2017)

I may be a bit biased with this but PRISTIN's debut album is perfect! Some people may not like Wee Woo, but after the second listen, my head just goes Wee Woo TvT This debut album is one of really awesome debut albums I've heard. Instead of starting with Wee Woo off the bat, the album starts with Be The Star which is a really head bopping song. The yea~~eahh during the chorus is very addictive and the constant 'baby's during the chorus is very cute. We move to Wee Woo, a very poppy, addictive, hook song where you just can't help but remember and go wee woo when you listen to it. My favourite part of the song has to be the bridge. AMAZING! The 3rd track was just mind blowing. Rena, dear, thank you for producing this song because it's a really dance, EDM track to be put into the album. After that was Running. I was really excited when they decided to put Running into the album because it's my second favourite pre debut songs from PRISTIN. It was called Stop It before they debuted btw. Then, the album slows down for Over n Over, the perfect song that showcases all the members' vocal abilities. It's a nice touch to the bright album tbh. Here, we can hear all the main vocals' voices very clearly. The slimpicity of the song is just really nice. Then we end with We, a pre debut song of PRISTIN, a reminder that our girls have finally debuted TvT If they added Rollercoaster to the album, it would've been better (Still wouldn't been the first tho ahhahahhh sorry pristin baby)

BEFORE WE MOVE ON, LET'S TALK ABOUT BLACK WIDOW. This was the song I waited all the years from PRISTIN! If they debuted with this concept, MAN, EVERYONE WOULD BE SNATCHED. The starting verses by Kyla, like I knew I would be blown by this song. Rena's parts duddeeeeeee!!! The bridge, again, is my favourite part of the song ahhahahahhahha.

AND TAKING THE FIRST PLACE OF THE FIRST LIST IS *DRUMROLL PLS*

1) 19 To 20 - Jimin Park (AUG 2016)

This album was just a masterpiece. From the title track to the last track. PERFECTION. Throughout the album, you can listen how versatile her voice is. It's a special album to her because she's turning 20 and such and like, you can feel her emotions. I can't believe how under appreciated this album was. We start withh the title track, Try, where it talks about how everyone has hard times and eventually we can get ahold of ourselves. TvT Then the album turned up for the party song called 'Young' and it featured Young K from Day6. The chemistry between them and the whole hyped up feel of the song, you just wanna turn up to it. I didn't think Jimin's voice would fit this but, DAYUM, it did! We move on to 'Walking' which I will talk about later (mwahhahahhahhah). Answer comes next and GAWD, the constant beats, the smooth way her voice goes over the song. OH, MY HEART. It talks about how she didn't like the blurred title between her and this guy where she wants to know his answer like does he like her or not. and DAYUM. The album then slow down for a ballad called To Him which is a song to the guy she likes about how she's not even his ideal type but she still likes him. Eventhough the song is a ballad, it didn't deviate from the whole theme of the album. All the featurings were all a very very very nice touch too

The whole masterpiece of an album because I can hahahhahahahh

GOING TO WALKIN'. You thought it was gonna be a typical ballad? NO. It goes into this groove and dayum, the vocals in this. So smooth. So groovey. *inserts JRE's body rolls* Hash Swan's featuring was so fitting in this song too omg like whut. Walkin walkin~

Now that we're done with that list, let's move on to all time faves~ I won't talk much about the albums due to this post being too long hahahhahahh

TOP 10 ALL TIME KPOP ALBUMS

Before we go through the list, just wanna say this is just a rough estimate on how the ranking would look like because honestly, they're all very good.

10) Pink Ocean - Oh My Girl

Honestly, this album was just beyond anything I've heard from Oh My Girl. Like, it was during this era that I fell for OMG. They had Liar Liar which was a genius of a title track for their concept. Knock Knock is *throws confetti*. B612 was amazzziinnnggg! I really love I Found Love too! But like the thing that got me was One Step Two Step. That was a masterpiece. Please Jinyoung, produce more songs for girl groups please (especially OMG and Lovelyz coz they fit perfectly)

9) Modern Times - IU

I just have no words for this album. It just brings you on a ride when you listen to it from the first track to the end. The featurings were just perfect! You'll never feel bored ever listening to this album. My favourite track has to be Bad Day tbh because of the emotion in this song. It's just amazing beyond words. The piano, the strings, the vocals sound very soothing and very emtional at the same time at first. And then you get to the bridge and then the last chorus, I get very teary eyed. It's such a beautiful song from the start to the finish. I'm really glad IU released this album because I don't know what the world would be without this perfect album TvT

Listen to full album HERE (the owner of the vid disabled the embed function T^T)

8) The Red - Red Velvet

RED VELVET YAS! This album was my most favourite album they have ever released. Rookie would've beaten this but it took me quite a while to actually like Rookie and Wendy's solo in the album (Body Talk was amazing tho). Talking about The Red, firstly, the title track Dumb Dumb. This song is by far my faovurite title track of RV. The energy in the chorus is just wow. Trust me, if you listen to Dumb Dumb (which I managed to, if I may say so myself hohoho #SorryNotSorry), the energy this song gives to the crowd and audience watching is just fantastic. You just can't help but shout and follow along to the chorus when they sing TvT (ah, I miss RV already). There's also Campfire here and that's my favourite B-Track of RV in this album. I really like the whole vibe of the track. I also really love Lady's Room. A very cheerful and cute song TvT

7) I - Taeyeon

Ahhh, Taeyeon. I don't follow SNSD tbh, but I do follow Taeyeon's releases because I really love her voice TvT And this solo debut album perfectly showcases her vocals. From I till Farewell, they were all perfect songs that proved how good her voice is. We start with I, the title track. Verbal Jint's featuring is a nice touch to it. And then, there's the powerful ballad song U R. When I heard this, I though to myself, how many times did Taeyeon take to record this because of the constant high notes. But when I saw that Taeyeon sang the whole song in one shot, I was beyond amazed. The high notes and emotion put in this song is fantastic. I cannot stress how good this ballad is. Talking about stress, she has a song called Stress and it's a really fun song with that kind of rock-ish vibe TvT Anyway, overall, I really really really love this album!

6) 100% - MBLAQ

MBLAQ  T^T Gosh how I dearly miss OT5 T^T Anyway, 100% is the album where they released This Is War and God knows how much I love this release. Everything from the hair and the outfits and the concept TvT Assassin Joon is hot af tho hahahahh Run is like a ninja song tbh ahahhaha. Too bad Seongho injured himself when performing this song. Anyway, moving to the album, Scribble is my faourite song from this album and that song gives me feels. Mir starting the song with his rap and then Thunder and then we go to the vocals oh lord I kennot. Too many feels. G.O's voice in this song tho. I cry. I'm listening to the album while I type this, and gosh, tears man. I just miss them too much. Anyway, She's Breathtaking is a very very very very cute song tho ahhahahhah Hello My Ex tho: I really like this song. No reasons for me liking this because this track is just very very very very good. Very lighthearted and a perfect way to end an album if I'd say so myself

5) 130 Mood: TBRL - DEAN

An exception for being new but already in this list TvT My boy DEAN released this masterpiece and I really want him to release more albums like this omg. The first track is called the Outro and the police knocking on the door made me turn to my door the first time I listened to it hahahaha. Anyway, this track is full of cursing and I love my fair share of my singers cursing lolol. After that we have Pour Up and omg this song. The bump to it ,the vibe ahhhh *fans self* Bonnie & Clyde tho. The vocals in this mannnn ahhh, I could go on and on. What2Do is a really really really really good song tho. Like Crush, Dean and Jeff Bernat in one song? Sign me the fck up. And then, we move on to my most favourite song of DEAN, A.K.A. my Dean anthem, D (Half Moon). This song does things to me tbh ahhahahha. Gaeko rapping in it is just perfection too. My love for this osng knows no boundaries. The next song basically sums it up. 'I Love It'. And then we end with 21. OMG, how I wish I was 21 to be able to relate to this hahhaha

4) Love Me Right (Repackaged) - EXO

A big reason why this is this high up is because of EL DORADO. I swore to myself that if I had the opportunity, I HAVE to see this song live because it's perfection. The adlibs and vocals and rap FIIIIREEEEEEE!!! I watched the performance and omg I wished I was there o.o Anyway, Lady Luck is a very nice R&B song that Kyungsoo really shined in tbh. I also really really really love Hurt. The melody and the instrumental of it was top notch. Playboy tho. BOI STOP BEING SO Y. It is a very y song without a doubt andI applaud Jonghyun for making this song TvT My Answer is a very sweet and emotional ballad which showcases the vocals of EXO. Tender Love thooooooooooooo TvT I preferred Love Me Right rather than Call Me Baby (which explains why the repackaged is here instead of the original) But anywayyyy in a nutshell, this album will be hard to top in my opinion for EXO.

3) Over The Top - INFINITE

Y'all prolly wondering where INFINITE is since I'm a huge Inspirit. WELL HERE IT IS! OTT is one of my most favourite albums of INFINITE. Not only because it is a very special album where they won their first win, but also, it is one of the first albums I owned. Be Mine was a major hit in Korea and also in my heart. The sharp choreo and the arrangement of the song itself wowed me. There's also one of my most favourite b-tracks in it which is Julia. I was very sad when I heard they weren't gonna perform Julia at the OGS tbh because it was one of my faves. I especially love Amazing because it's ust AMAZING. Of course we can't forget of Sunggyu's solo 'Beacause' and Woohyun's solo 'Time' TvT I lovveeee those tracks too TvT

2) Fiction & Fact - BEAST

BEAST's Fiction & Fact was the album that made me a fan tbh. With their title track Fiction, it intrigued me to listen to the whole album and I was not disappointed at all. Virus is a very nice upbeat song in the middle of the album which doesn't make you feel bored listening to the album. ON RAINY DAYS is my favourite song of BEAST too. That song, from the inst to the vocals to Junhyung's emotional rap ah. And then we have Lightless but an unplugged ver which in my opinion was much much much better than the original version. I like that it was very calming to listen to too TvT And then the Orchestra ver of Fiction omg this was mindblowing. I didn't knwo it'd fit tbh. A masterpiece of an album tbh TvT

1) Pink Tape - f(x)

This album is the masterpiece of masterpieces in the kpop industry for me. Firstly, Rum Pum Pum was my favourite title track of f(x) ever. From the concept to the vocals to the outfits. Perfection. Krystal red hair tho TVT And then Shadow. Omg, I really love the lightness of the song. It sounds so mysterious and sneaky butso good at the same time too. And then, there's Pretty Girl. Oh, the powerful vocals in this song like DAMN. Kick is very very very nice upbeat song (Which I ahve failed time and time again to beat in the hard mode of Superstan SMTOWN). Signal sound like an out of this world song and it's really really good TvT The beat of this song is very addictive. The no no no in the song is very cute too hahahah And then we have the holy Goodbye Summer featuring Kyungsoo and I really really really love this song. It's my second fave of the album and the spring vibe of this song just gives a nice tone to the album. With the EDM-ish vibe at the beginning, Goodbye Summer kinda evens it out and gives a time for the EDM to rest and just let the listener enjoy the acoustic-ness of the song if that makes sense. Then we move to Airplane which is a really fanastic song. I especially love the vibe of the song and the Airplane Love part. Idk why, but I just felt like flying when hearing the song hahahah. The next two songs are a very very very nice too. Then we get to Snapshot, and lord yas. Just yas TvT AND THEN WE END WITH ENDING PAGE. And this is my favourite song of f(x) ever. The lyrics itself is very beautiful. The melody is too amazing. The chorus ah, genius. Can I say that this would be one of favourite KPOP songs ever?

Honorable Mentions

Honorable mentions include albums which have potential to be in the list above or albums which almost made it TvT I'm too tired to explain in lengthy paragraphs, so I'll just put some explanations in ().

- Skool Luv Affair - BTS (Tomorrow is my most favourite in this album tbh, if not, all of BTS's discography but the other songs weren't enough to make the cut)

- INFINITIZE - INFINITE (Honestly, I wanted to include only one album of each group, so that explains why ahhaahhahahahahha It could've been below OTT tbh)

- Infinite ONLY - INFINITE (Same as the above)

- Growl (Repackage) - EXO (Same reason as the above. I really really really love Don't Go tho, I cry every time I listen to it. And also Peter Pan and Baby Don't Cry)

- PLAY - AkMu (I haven't really listened thoroughly through the album, so I can't judge for sure but it is a very very good album nonetheless)

- Going Seventeen - SEVENTEEN (I wanted to include my boys but the list only reached top 10 and this would've been number 11 TvT)

- Girl's Day Everyday #5 - Girl's Day (A very nice album as a comeback and Thirsty tho ;) ohohoh )

- With Love, J - Jessica Jung ( I forgot about this when I made the list tbh. And the others were just too good T^T)

- Pink Ocean - OMG (Didn't really like Coloring Book tbh T^T But Perfect Day was a very perfect song TvT)

- Rookie - Red Velvet (Took a while to like the title track and I thought like the last track didn't fit into the album tbh T^T Sorry RV T^T I really do love Body Talk tho. It's my jam)

- NOIR - BAP (Really really really wanted to include this)

- Voodoo Doll - VIXX (AND THIS T^T)

- AL1 - SEVENTEEN (This would easily enter the list tbh if only it was released earlier hahahhahahah)

- Every Day 6 - DAY6 (Same as the above)

Anyway, this is my top 10 lists / review of my fave albums in kpop. What's yours? Comment down your list too ^^ Maybe I'll give the albums a listen too? WOW THIS IS LONG AF
