Action-themed: help

I'm attempting to write an action-themed short story but it's a new genre to me. If anyone would read what I've written so far and let me know what you think...

Jab, jab and duck. Again; jab, jab and kick. One-two-one, this is the rhythm I follow throughout my practice.

“You’re spacing,” my partner chides and his tone brings me back to the ring. Shaking my head, I sharpen my focus on the punch mitts before me.

One-two-one, I lose myself in the methodic beat. One-two— Jungkook drops a mitt and blocks my next punch with his bare hand. Caught off guard, I don’t have time to defend myself before he turns his back to me as he grabs onto my arm. Without warning, he flings me over as if I weight nothing and throws me into the ground.

I groan as I land on my shoulder, the impact sending a shock through my body.

“Dammit!” Jungkook shouts, not bothering to hide his exasperation now. “How many times do I have to remind you? You lose your focus, you lose your life!”

My vision blurs.

10 o’clock incoming. I finish my opponent with an uppercut and punch him out of the way before eyeing the new one.

“No!” From somewhere behind me, Jungkook shrieks.

On reflex, I turn around to look for him. Jungkook manages to roll away in time to avoid a hit to his face. Hooking his leg around his attacker’s leg, he brings the attacker down and uses the momentum to pull himself up. I let my guard down for a second as I sigh in relieve.

“Watch out!” Jungkook shouts again, his eyes catching mine. Deep inside, I know it’s already too late when I notice the horror on his face. Receiving a blow to the back of my head, I fall to the ground the same time a metal pipe drops beside me.

Flipping over to lie on my back, I take deep breaths to calm my nerves. “I’m thinking I should just go out and get myself killed,” I say, “and be done with this once and for all.”

“I never knew you were such a coward.”

“This job was never for me from the start.” I push myself up to a sitting position with the wrong arm, further straining my shoulder in the process. “I don’t know why Boss is making me go out into the field.” I was a star agent in the control room.

Jungkook sighs, dropping onto the ground beside me. He picks up my arm to examine the damage and I chew on the inside of my cheek to distract myself from the pain. “We’re short on agents, and you were already trained.”

“Why are we even doing this in the first place?” I let out a bitter laugh. “We put our lives on the line, for what?”

“We lost ownership to our lives the moment Boss set his eyes on us. You should know better than all of us.”

That’s right. I was a broken child, alone and left to die on the streets. I owe my life to Boss for taking me in and I’ll never forget it. The rough trainings and life-threatening missions don’t overthrow the fact that Boss had raised me as one of his own. I’m living on Boss’s grace; my life belongs to him.

My phone chimes with a message notification: 41 24.2028, 2 10.4418. I read out the coordinates to Jungkook and he quickly keys it into his GPS.

“Get ready,” I tell him. “We’re leaving in fifteen.”
