one last time

“I love you,” he breathes into his lover’s ear, holding him tightly. “I’ll call you, okay?” Seunghoon pulls back from the hug to stare squarely into Taehyun’s teary eyes.  He can barely look into his vulnerable, broken boyfriend’s face, it’s too hard. It’s much too hard seeing him fall apart no matter how tightly Seunghoon tries to hold on to him. Nothing will change what has happened. He finally breaks the hug entirely, fingers lingering at the edge of Taehyun’s sleeve, afraid that Taehyun would disappear before him if he doesn’t hold on to him. Taehyun turns away and leaves without another word. His back is shaking, Seunghoon can tell that he’s trying to hold back his sobs in front of him, but Taehyun never has to hide anything from him; Seunghoon knows, he can feel everything Taehyun is feeling with just one glance. Their connection has been like that from the start, they never had to discuss things so deeply to comprehend what the other was going through. Tonight it is especially difficult to understand Taehyun because what is happening is something Seunghoon wishes he cannot understand. It hurts so much. It is as if someone was taking a piece of him and all he could do was lay there and let himself be taken apart. A deep sigh escapes his lips as he holds back his own tears. This isn’t goodbye, he refuses to let it be. Not being able to hold Taehyun close and pepper him with kisses in the secrecy of their dorm room while the lights were off doesn’t mean they can’t love each other anymore. He isn’t going to allow a cruel fate to pull them apart this way. He runs after Taehyun and sneaks his arms around his waist, resting his cheek on Taehyun’s shoulder. “Let me at least take you home, one last time.”
