PLEASE HELP A NEWBIE! THANKS (づ￣ ³￣)づ

Hi! Let's get straight to the point!  (｡´‿｀｡)

I'm a newbie in AFF and I would like to ask you guys some questions. It won't take a lot of time so please comment. (it also helps you receive karma too :D) Hope you guys can clear my mind. (๑•́ ω •̀๑)

1. How can your story get recognition?

I've just written my first story ever since Jan and until now, there are 7 chaps. However, I notice that the view is declining through each chap. The one with the highest view is the introduction of  the characters. And then, the view drops significantly. Could it be because of the way I introduce the characters or what?  ¯\(º_o)/¯.

And it's been 4 months but there are 800+ views and 3 comments so far. I'm a bit worried! (╥﹏╥)

2. Is it natural for the story to have small views at first but the more you write, the more you gain subs and comments or what?

I notice that featured stories get featured about 2 or 3 years after it was completed. So, can a story with low views in the first 5 months get more readers later? ┐ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛ .) ┌

3. Is it because of the characters?

I'm writing a story starring NCT Dream and OC. Of course NCT has just debuted and their stories won't get as much recognition as EXO's. But compared to other NCT Dream stories, I have fewer views.  (っ- ‸ -)

Hey! I would like to answer for the 3rd question! So I've been reading fanfics for like 3 yrs now and trust me, most of the readers don't prefer reading fics starring OCs. They all have their ships and prefer to read fics starring them. So maybe focus on the ships rather than OCs! Wish u all the luck! Good luck with your story buddy! :D

1) a large part of really depends on time. i'd guess that thousands of new stories are published on here each day, and unfortunately not all of them can find instant success. keep writing and doing what satisfies you, and i believe that soon you'll find yourself with more recognition. at the end of the day, we're all on here writing because we want to, not because we earn money based off views and such. so just enjoy what you're doing, and good tidings will come along! (speaking from my experience, my stories aren't popular but that makes me cherish every sub and comment and upvote i get even more)
2) completely natural. it may just take more time for your particular story to be unearthed. i've been scouring the nct/nctu/nct127/nctdream tag for stories, but i've never come across yours. it just takes time.
3) part of popularity does come from whether or not you write about popular ships or groups, but it's not like nct is devoid of aff fans (yooo hello nct stan right here, feel free to hmu if you wanna chat about these precious boys like wow protect them). so i'm sure some of them will have stumbled upon your fic ^^
4) sure, i'm happy to help out a fellow fan :)

just keep on writing and improving. eventually people will view your story as time goes by especially since you're constantly updating. nct might not be widely popular yet but they do still have fans around. advertisement shops can help. people are entitled to their preferences though, so just wait until someone finds your story as their taste. plus, some long time stories don't get much views much less comments based on personal experience. it really just depends.
