What do you think about posting the same story on different sites?

I'm active user of many fanfiction sites and it often happens that I find the same story posted on, let's say ao3 and aff.

So, what do you guys think about that? What do you think about it when the same author postes the same story on different sites?

:)

I think it's pretty fine and okay to do that... Making people enjoy your stories in as many sites possibles sounds fun ^ω^

It's fine actually ^^ I do that most of the time in both aff and ao3. Not all the active readers or members are on AFF, there are a lot of them out there too.

Oh I do it all the time. Mostly because some people are on tumblr and not on AFF, and some are on AFF but not tumblr! It's a good way to promote, plus it's totally up to you.

I think it's actually good for the author because it's promoting the story on two different sites. Let's say there are people that prefer one site over the other, if the story is only on the other site, how are they supposed to read it? Also, you could promote the opposite site as well, not only helping the site gain popularity, but helping people open up to other sites. :)

I'm fine w/ it, I myself also use ao3. I just get paranoid about people taking my stories from ao3 since the privacy settings aren't like aff

I think it's a good thing, but of course they should make it clear that they're the same author :)

i think that it is good and that it gets your story out there for more people to read and enjoy there should be nothing wrong with putting it up and more places i wish i new site to do that but i just seem to do that with the ads for my story

I use the same user name on each site so no one gets confused, or like people below said: People won't think I'm stealing my own story ;) And, I recommend it, because it opens you up to a larger audience. I love AO3 and AFF. I love meeting new people, so.... yeah. *Promoting posting on multiple sites Whoo... *shutting up ^^

it's fine as long as they tell people on both sites to avoid people thinking they plagiarized something

I think it's fine, an author should be allowed to post their work where they want. After all, it isn't property of the site.

as long as it's their own story and it's posted without breaking the sites rules, then why not? they may just want to cater to a large audience especially in terms of feedback.
