APPEARANCE AND STYLE  
her looks ⟶ jyoti is seen as a normal earth kingdom citizen. her tan complexion, though lighter than her mother's skin because of the mixture of her father's fire nation genetics, and long, often loosely braided, dark brown hair is nothing out of the ordinary. her brown, almost amber eye colour is the only lead which would tell someone she came from fire nation descent. her clothes ⟶ she wears traditional muted greens and brown earth nation working clothes, often rolled up at the sleeves and at the ends of her pants. they would often be stained with dirt or ash and scratched in several places. a stretch of fabric ties her hair into her braid to keep it in place.

jyoti lived in a small village but has a big heart. she's loyal to everyone she gains friendship with and would instantly try to connect with them. jyoti would understand someone's pain with the utmost respect she could muster without looking or sounding rude or trying too hard. her sincere nature makes her friendly nature shine the most. she depends on the people around her too much; she'll ask for advice and tips on what she should do. her naive and lack of wisdom also contributes to her dependence on others; as she had grown up in a secluded area and does not know much about others. her emotions are delicate; like an untamed fire. it will grow small but will bellow and shake in size when angered but at the same time; as everything's new to her, jyoti is shy at meeting others but won't take long to open up.

BACKGROUND 
forbidden love ⟶ born in the fire nation ruled place of the mining village in the earth kingdom to a non-bender woman who's family had resided in the village for years and to a firebending man who worked as a soldier to the fire nation army. he was a particularly kind man compared to the rest of the army and had fallen in love with the woman when he was stationed at the mining village. when he was forced to move to another location, back to the fire nation captital, he faked his suicide to escape back to the village where he then began his relationship with the woman. birth of a new generation ⟶ years later, jyoti was born. she lived a fairly normal life as a child, though her father had to conceal himself towards the fire nation guards as they were sure to hand him into the fire nation. her parents were convinced that jyoti would become a non-bender as the chances that she would earth-bend or firebend were unlikely but at the age of five, she surprised her parents by controlling the flames of the candles. a small indication to her bending powers but at her age, her father knew she would become a strong bender when she would grow up. the bender ⟶ due to her bending power, jyoti had to train secretly under her father. they regularly moved into the mountain caves to practice firebending and there were several times where they were almost caught by both the fire nation soldiers and the villagers themselves. other than training, jyoti often helped her village by trying to grow whatever she could in the small garden that they own as growing vegetation is particularly hard to do. her father had often travelled elsewhere to communicate with the resistance and the white lotus, which he had been working with since he had planned his alleged suicide. taken away ⟶  then it happened, on the night of jyoti's eighteenth birthday. fire nation soldiers burst into her family home and dragged her father away with a stern and almost angered expression. they had been told by a villager that they had spotter jyoti's father firebending in the forest one cold night and out of fear, the villager spread the news to the soldiers. once it was made clear, that jyoti's father was a fire nation deserter, the villagers had confronted jyoti and her mother. out of fear and intimidation, jyoti firebended and it led to all sorts of trouble. jyoti's mother ran to the safety of the white lotus after the revelation and amongst the midst of escaping, jyoti was seperated from her mother. she decided, instead of looking for her mother, jyoti would be setting a new journey to find her father and help him escape. 

the hundred year war ⟶ the war had already influenced jyoti the second she was born. her village taken over by the fire nation and that benders in her village were all gone due to the mining industry. jyoti's father had to conceal his identity, though he had already expressed that the family should move to ba sing se to be with the resistance and the white lotus for safety, her mother disapproved. 

SKILLS 
firebending ⟶  taught exclusively by her father, jyoti has an average knowledge of firebending and is at a quite advanced level at present. unlike all firebenders, her father had taught her in the way of earth-bending in the form of neutral jing. he taught her how to listen, feel and wait for the moment to attack decisively whilst teaching her how to use fire in battle if they were ever forced to. jyoti attacks in short, controlled bursts unlike normal firebending techniques to compliment her swift thinking. her defenses come in the form of small fire shields or walls. 

fundamental skills ⟶  jyoti is fast on her feet and knows the art of both chi and neutral jing. it was like when iroh had been taught water-bending tactics to further improve his firebending, only jyoti had learnt the earth-bending techniques instead. the art of neutral jing is important to her, as she needs to know when to attack at the right moment with firm defenses and her speedy attacks makes it happen fast. 

RELATIONSHIPS 
the parents  ⟶ jeung-gi, alias chen, and noda
her parents are the lovebirds that never should've been together. jyoti loves them with all her heart and they return the affection twice as much. the father who trains and the mother who caters. they both have relations with the white lotus and the resistence as the two groups helped jeung-gi escape the fire nation. he often attends meetings with the resistence and the white lotus, which is why the family have such good relations with them and allowed noda to reside there after the family were compromised. they also joined for the safety of jyoti. the two adults would do anything to find and protect jyoti and she would do the same in return. 

the friend ⟶  haku
the two are neighbour like friends and know of each other's bending skills. at first, haku was intimidated but soon overcame it when he realised that it wouldn't and didn't change jyoti at all and in turn, he told her he coult earthbend. he was also a minor contributor to how jyoti's firebending was more like earthbending in terms of techniques. outside of training, the two would be seen with each other as it was like a senpai-kohai relationship. 

jyoti would most definitely stuggle under keeping her profile down when travelling across the nations in order to achieve her goal of finding her father, and world peace duh. she'd be conflicted to whether or not she's a fire nation citizen or an earth kingdom traitor due to the pressure that had compiled from the angry citizens who believe she's the traitor and the thought would consume her inside out until she couldn't take it anymore but then she'll realise that she'd always be a devoted citizen of the earth kingdom and will fight for the better cause. always and forever.
