appearance » Jihyun is described as a beautiful lady by most of her peers. She had long black hair reaching under her shoulder blade, she usually ties them in a loose braid or ponytail when she is outside of her castle or when she has visits. Otherwise, she likes letting them free, it makes her feel less serious. She has very dark brown eyes and pinkish lips. Her skin is slightly tanned, more than the usual skin of Nobles, since she used to live in the streets when she was a child and still enjoys spending time under the sun. She's of medium size, around 165cm, and has a thin body. She weighs 55kg and despite her thin appearance, she's actually muscular, having learnt how to spar from her father.

What made me who I am.

background » Jihyun was born as one of the numerous children of the streets, those children without a family. Oh sure, she had her mother but the poor lady barely had time to take care of her daughter. Jihyun's mother was a e in a brothel, she sold her body to those men who could not live without touching a woman's flesh. Jihyun was too young to understand, what she knew was that a lot of ladies took great care of her when her mom was working and the first years of her life were quite good. She was carefree and cute, all the girls loved her and the old lady in charge of the brothel took a liking to her - which is probably the only reason why her mom wasn't kicked out. A few years later, when news of her mother's new pregnancy reached the old lady's ears, she got fed up. The pregnant lady was thrown in the streets with her daughter. Life from then on became... difficult.

Two years after the birth of Jihyun's little brother, life on the streets got the better of her mother's strength. She died after having caught a sickness they couldn't cure. When she understood that her mother wouldn't wake up, Jihyun took her baby brother and left the small place they used to live in with her mother's meager wage. She started living in the streets, hiding in shadowy place hoping for no one to find them. It was the only way to protect her brother. She started stealing money and food - and she was quite good at it. Sometimes, passerbys would give her money when they saw her begging, others looked at her with disgust. She managed to survive with her brother, with the help of a young teenager who had also taken them under his wings. He had been living in the streets for a while as well and he did his best to bring them more food and to protect them from guards if needed. 

Everything changed when the young girl was ten. Her little brother was five at the time and he liked wandering in the streets with his sister. One day, he wandered a bit too far and got caught by a guard before Jihyun could find him. He had taken an apple without paying, not knowing how the world worked. A guard grabbed him and yelled at him, making the terrified boy cry for help. Jihyun, who was searching for him, ran when she heard his cries and protected him, begging the guard to release him, saying that it wasn't his fault. As the guard raised his arm to hit her, a hand grabbed him, stopping him. The guard turned around and bowed in front of the newcomer as Jihyun looked at him, her scared brother in her arms. The man looked at them with pity in the eyes and paid the merchant for the apple. Then, he crouched in front of the children and smiled gently. "Where is your mother, little ones? You shouldn't be in the streets like this, she wouldn't be happy." he said and frowned when the little girl told him they had no mother. That day, the man took them under his wings and brought them to his house.

Jihyun heard soon enough that the man was a Noble, a Viscount to be more precise, and he was named Kang Byunghee. His wife had died a few years before and he didn't have any child. Chanhee immediately liked him and even if it took time for Jihyun to get used to him, she realized quickly that the man had no ill intentions and truly wanted to give them another chance at life. They had been the lucky ones that day, and after a year, the Viscount officially adopted both of them. They received a new education, the one of Noble children, they discovered luxuries, riches and power. He was the only father figure they had had in their entire life and they loved it. 

As the years passed, Chanhee became known as the new heir of the Viscounty, considering old Nobles were too old-fashioned to think Jihyun could take on the title. Future events changed that as the Viscount was killed when Jihyun was 21. Nouveaux Riches like Kim Himchan accused her of killing her father when they heard she would be the one inheriting the title, her brother being too young to do it yet. The Detectives quickly proved her innocence when they found out a Nouveau Riche had been the one poisoning him. One year later, Jihyun still mourns her father's death but she took over the Viscounty and stood her ground, becoming a powerful rising female figure. She gained allies and enemies, but also raised the interest of Thieves for her growing fortune. They still know her as a neutral person who shows no sign of any animosity towards Thieves nor malicious intents towards the workers of her Viscounty, therefore the different Guilds are also neutral to her. 

Except for that one King who enjoys spending time observing her, leaving behind him promising red roses.

family » Her mother died when she was only 7 so she doesn't have many memories of her. Her father took her under his wings when she was ten and she loved him dearly. She had a lot of respect for this man and eagerly listened to him. She had a very close bond with her father and his death was something Jihyun had not expected so soon. She knew of people wanting him dead but it was still a shock for her. She still cherishes the memories she has with him, but bringing her father in a discussion always pains her.

LITTLE BROTHER ;; Kang Chanhee ;; 17 y.o

For Jihyun, there's no one more important than her brother. She does everything she can to protect him and she puts him before anything else. She loves him with all her heart and tries to make life easy to him. She wants him to have a happy life while he still can and doesn't bother him too much with the affairs of the viscounty to let him be the bright child he is. Chanhee has always been sheltered and he knows this, but he also realizes how much Jihyun sacrifices for his happiness. He also loves her deeply and cherishes the bond they have. He tries his best to learn more about the viscounty despite her wishes because he wants to be able to help her when he grows up. He's aware that she's worried about his safety. Despite his age, he's really mature and though he sometimes acts like a spoilt child, he makes sure not to do anything to scare her. He'd do anything for her and he's actually very possessive of his older sister. He wants the best for her and will not let anyone get close to her until he's sure it's the right person to make her happy.

COUNT OF VESTA ;; Kim Woobin ;; 27 y.o

The young Count is probably the closest to what a best friend would be to Jihyun. Being Viscountess of Vesta, she is supposed to help him in his task as her father did with his own when both of them were still alive. Woobin took over about 3 years ago and was there to help when Jihyun got the title. They frequently see each other, may it be to discuss of their lands or simply to meet. Though he is described as a cold-hearted person, Jihyun knows that it's only a facade to protect himself from those coming after his title. He is a dedicated person who takes care of those he holds dear, but he does enjoy proving himself and has a way to make people feel little in front of him (that and he's a giant). Rumors has it that the Count and the Viscountess have a thing going on, which amuses Woobin a lot. Their relationship is purely friendly and though he likes flirting with her to mess with other Nobles, he wants nothing more than a friend, just like her. Besides, he knows all about Jihyun's daydreams about the man putting roses at her window.

NOUVEAU RICHE ;; Kim Himchan ;; 26 y.o

It is said that Nouveaux Riches and Nobles don't like each other - well for them, it's absolutely true. Kim Himchan had earnt his riches by being a merchant and he was quickly successful. It took him a lot to reach this position so he can't accept the privileges given by Nobles. He won't admit that a lady younger than him could have power on his trade just because she owns the land on which he set part of his wood. He always tries to take her down, he even accused her of killing her father, which was soon proved wrong. Jihyun has nothing against him but he really does get on her nerves. She just wants to do what she's supposed to but he's being ridiculous with her. When they meet, they keep on throwing words of venom to each other. Honestly, what worries Jihyun is that she knows Himchan would be ready to do dangerous things to throw her down, and she fears that he would do something to her brother.  

It's dangerous to get too close.

They first met when Jihyun was 8. Her mother had died a few months prior and she was struggling to find food to give to her baby brother. She had found a small spot where she had hid with her brother for the time being. At this time, Yongguk was 12 and he was also living in the streets, as he had been for a few years, forced to steal to survive, just like her. He was already a thief - and a good one. He did his best to find food and other necessities and give them to the youngest children of the streets. Most of them considered him as an older brother already. When he saw Jihyun, the first thing he thought was that she was way too thin to have eaten regularly. He quickly stole more bread and a few stripes of dried meat before following the little girl. He was shocked when he saw her holding a three-year-old child and feeding him some milk she had managed to put her hands on. When Jihyun saw him, she quickly stood in front of the little Chanhee, protecting him with her frail body. Yongguk smiled gently and handed her the food he had brought, telling her she should eat as well if she wanted to protect him. Jihyun was wary but she was too hungry to care. After that, they often met each other and the older boy would do his best to bring them more food and protect them - until she was taken by the Viscount. 

adulthood

Neither of them forgot their childhood but they also didn't expect to find the child they had become friend with. Therefore, the first time they met as adults, they couldn't recognize each other. Woobin was visiting Kim Himchan with a bunch of other Nobles and Nouveaux Riches. Jihyun was with him as she was his right-hand woman. Debates were quite rough, considering both Woobin and Jihyun couldn't stand Himchan. But the debates were soon disturbed by guards yelling "Thief!" upstairs. Soon enough, a man had barged in the room and was battling with Himchan - or more than battling, he was swiftly avoiding Himchan's attacks with a boisterous laugh. Woobin and Jihyun didn't move an inch, too busy trying their best to hide their smirks and chuckles at the humiliating situation. When the man was done playing, he turned his head and met Jihyun's gaze. With a smirk he avoided Himchan and arrived in front of her. Woobin immediately frowned and started drawing his sword. Yongguk was faster, he took her hand and kissed it with a exaggerated bow. "You have quite a gem, dear Count, if I was you I would be worried someone would try to steal her," he said with a smile, before fleeing from the scene leaving a beautiful red rose at the lady's feet and an angry Woobin screaming orders to catch him. It amused the girl and that's how Yongguk started taking an interest in the Viscountess. He now knows who she is and can't wait for her to hear his real name so she could realize who he is. 

interactions » They have close to no interactions as of now, considering they don't really see each other. Yongguk likes spending time in the Nobles' districts to rob them of their gold and distribute it to the children - therefore he chose to visit the Count of Vesta every so often, knowing Woobin would recognize him and Jihyun would probably be there if she's not at her own place. He remains unnoticed, just like at night, when he likes spending time watching her spending time with her brother or getting ready to go to bed. He feels like a creep but he just can't help himself, going inside her room and sitting down on the floor to watch her sleep. Whether he stays outside or goes inside, he always leaves his signature rose for Jihyun to find in the morning. If at first, Jihyun was scared of it (a thief could enter way too easily!) and more guards are patrolling outside now, she soon became used to it. What changed her mind was seeing Yongguk disguised as a gardener taking time to show her brother how to tend to flowers, something she knew Chanhee loved. She knows how to recognize a genuine smile and she was sure that Yongguk hadn't done it to please her because she had just come back from Woobin's place when she saw the two boys laughing together. As soon as she knew Yongguk didn't mean harm to her brother, she instantly relaxed and started playing with him as well.

When they happen to see each other, they'll just act as if they had just met, pretending that they don't know what's going on. Yongguk openly flirts with her, but he flirts with delicacy, while Jihyun keep on hinting at his actual career choice as something he should work on. Jihyun feels that if she had to have a problem, he would be reliable enough to help her, despite their different status, just like Yongguk can feel that if he was to get into trouble, she would find a way to help him out of it.

- A masked ball! Thieves are disturbing Nobles at a very high class party and Yongguk uses the opportunity to dance with Jihyun.
- Someone tries to assassinate Chanhee and Yongguk (and others?) finds out about the plan and manages to save him. 

- I can see Bekah distrusting Jihyun at first, so some scenes with this would be nice!
